- Ross "Rollerball" Pederson - most wins in Canadian Motocross history. Born in Medicine Hat, but grew up in Calgary and went to Lord Beaverbrook High School (class of 1978). First motocross bike was a 1976 YZ125. From 1980 to 1993, Ross captured 29 Canadian Motocross titles, a feat which may never be equaled. He also had twelve, top 10 finishes in AMA (U.S.) Ross used to practice at an area called "the pit", which is now the subdivision of Diamond Cove in SE Calgary. Many of the dirt bikers from Acadia, Fairview and Willow Park would regularly ride there in the mid 1970s. The boys from Academy Drive; Gordon Hoover, Bill Bastain, Rick Rados and Len Himmelspeck spent many summer evenings and weekends riding there.
