Movie posters

Hi Kailash29792. For the following movie poster uploads, you need to add the source for each image. Also, the rationale on each file needs to be updated to show that we are now displaying a movie poster rather than a screen shot. Please get this done promptly, as unsourced images are eligible for speedy deletion under criterion F4, and images without a proper rationale qualify for speedy deletion under criterion F6. Thanks.

@Evano1van Under 2013, I have fixed Ethiri En 3, Kalavadiya Pozhuthugal, Muriyadi and Veeram. The rest doesn't seem to have an article in enwiki. Btw, Yohan never took off. So, I don't think it should have an article in the tamil wiki. Hope you can take care of it and update your userpage too. Thanks. Regards. -- Sriram speak up 14:39, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Sriram fixing. Yes, I will report incorrect ones once I finish with interwiki links. Evano1van(எவனோ ஓருவன்) 10:13, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE request for Meera (1945 film)

Hi Kailash29792, I'm a GOCE coordinator. Regarding your GOCE request here, expanding articles by request is generally outside the scope of our project, which exists to improve the quality of prose by correcting errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation and style. Although some of our members may be happy to expand the article (I do this sometimes where I think it's necessary), I think it's best to restrict requests to copy-editing so I've made a note on the request to that effect. You may need to wait a few weeks (or longer) for the copy-edit to be completed; in the meantime perhaps someone at the Indian cinema task force might help with the expansion you requested. Hello Kailash, i thought to mail you for a help. But, i couldn't find the E-mail this user link on the left side in my toolbox. Didn't you enable that feature or am i getting some error on that? --    L o g  X   16:00, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey pal! Since there are only two films, I think a hatnote would be enough and a disambiguation page isn't required. I could add the hatnote for one of them, but don't know what to do with the disam page. So I'm gonna let you can take care of it. Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 14:02, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

So you gonna delete the disam page? -- Sriram speak up 14:14, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. I may create the article in the near future. But, regarding the disam page, shall I make a request at the Teahouse? -- Sriram speak up 14:30, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. WP:2DABS says there isn't a need for disam pages if there are only two topics. I'm gonna make a req at teahouse. And if I create the other article (too!), I'll pay attention about the year. -- Sriram speak up 14:52, 24 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding your comments here, you've copied and pasted reviews from The Hindu here, here and here; this violates Wikipedia's copyright policy and the offending text has been removed. Please do not re-add this text. Thanks, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 08:12, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mullum Malarum

Hi, you are doing a commendable job by expanding the article. This book might be helpful. Also you could take some of these articles to WP:DYK, an interesting project in wiki, which I think you might be aware of. If you need any help in this regard ping me. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:28, 25 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Brother, I don't really know much about that. Did you write all that in the article? Thanks dude. I love Mahendran's films, this, Uthiripookkal (my favorite) and Johnny, and I so wanted to expand the articles but I could not find much. I think you have done a brilliant job, for me it looks great and I can't tell if it's all right or whether it needs to be edited. Good luck, hope you can improve the other articles too. @Vensatry: the best u can do is translate the most useful trivia of Mullum Malarum and paste it here. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 15:24, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'll develop that in my sandbox. Meanwhile, you can also edit. Vensatry (Ping me) 16:31, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
In the development section, you've included an image of the crew members. I think the reviewers might question you on adding this non-free image in addition to the poster. It could have been okay if you had included the image of Jayalakshmi and Shoba as they are no more (also there's a strong contrast between the two characters'). Btw, the Thina Thanthi review is also avl in ref 34 in the article. I suggesr you use it instead of the rajnifans link. -- Sriram speak up 18:29, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Sriram Vikram, I cannot find "தந்தி" in ref 34, which is this ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 03:27, 7 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It can only mean that the rajnifans link could have wrongly mentioned the review to be from Thinathanthi. After translating the reviews, I was checking the article if they have been already used. That is when I stumbled upon ref 34 whose contents are exactly the same as in the rajnifans link under thinathanthi review. -- Sriram speak up 09:10, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You haven't used the link for Vikatan review. The Dhananjayan book doesn't have a preview in google books. So, I suggest you use this link. I'm afraid the rajnifans link could be of problem when the GA review happens. Its my opinion; you decide. -- Sriram speak up 11:49, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
This link that you have posted in the talk page says the film was dubbed and released in Russia. -- Sriram speak up 03:13, 11 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Conversations with Mani Ratnam

Hi, do you have the physical copy of the book? Vensatry (Ping me) 07:47, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have a hardcover of Conversations with Mani Ratnam at home. However, I am at work and I will back home only by around 6 or 7pm. BTW, what is the book needed for? ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 07:52, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That'll be handy to take Mani Ratnam to FAC in the future. Also could you fill those missing awards in this page. Vensatry (Ping me) 07:55, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@User:Vensatry, I'll do the best I can after coming home. BTW, the book has a free preview on Google Books. Try that, or u can buy the book online for around 400 (less expensive that the physical purchase). ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 08:03, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It has only limited preview. Just expand the awards won by him when you get time. Vensatry (Ping me) 08:10, 26 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This came in today's paper. Could you bother yourself and update the article? Thanks. -- Sriram speak up 02:31, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would have did it myself had the article been titled 'Adhi'. But since it isn't, and the above reference pertains only to Adhi, I don't know how to put it. A very long time ago, I had left a comment in its talk page. Regards. -- Sriram speak up 02:44, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alert

Hi, though you're doing a very good job on expanding old film articles, you seem to directly copy-paste text from the source articles. It's time to avoid that since there are very high chances that you might end up getting blocked. Vensatry (Ping me) 05:54, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@User:Vensatry Sorry I didn't read the notice at first. All right, when was the last time I "copy-pasted"? There have been many instances, but which have been taken care of. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 06:13, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I'm talking about your recent expansion – Mullum Malarum. The quote of Mani Ratnam is too long to include in the article and reviewers might question you on WP:QUOTEFARM. Including too much of quoted material can be problematic. Vensatry (Ping me) 06:26, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Kailash, thanks for your post on my talk page regarding an unfulfilled copy-edit request. Thanks, Kailash. Yes, I'm careful about it. I don't think I have talked anything bad yet, I got furious but I made sure I didn't use any bad words. It's very evident that he is wrong not me. I do follow the guideline, all articles follow that guideline and there is no reason for him to remove anything. If he does it again, I'm sure going to report him to admins. Terrible behaviour by that guy. Again thanks Kailash, I hope I can manage Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 22:17, 14 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sholay main page

I had put it up right after FA and it was rejected. I then asked one of the editors who puts them up and he said he would keep it in mind, but it never happened. Seems hard to get a film article up there. I will try to ping him again, but what do you think needs to be done now, and how could it lose FA? BollyJeff | talk 01:11, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You and I will notice. It's on my watchlist. BollyJeff | talk 02:12, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Check out this: User:ColonelHenry/FA2013analysis. It seems that the wait can be very long. BollyJeff | talk 00:50, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Do to the timing of the 3D release and a note that I left with this particular editor, I have re-nominated Sholay at WP:TFAR. We will see if it makes it this time, keep your fingers crossed. BollyJeff | talk 01:23, 8 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It failed to place again, due to too many other films being nominated, and this one not having enough interest/support. What a bummer! Seems we will never see old Indian films on the front page. BollyJeff | talk 14:54, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I know what you mean. Why should I bother to make any more FAs? They did say that there are 1,320 FA that have yet to make it, so we are not alone. BollyJeff | talk 16:07, 20 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It appears to be Wikipedia:Today's_featured_article/March_8,_2014. I don't know how that happened, but I am happy. BollyJeff | talk 13:17, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
It is not allowed to have copyrighted pictures on TFA for whatever reason. That's why I changed it from the poster to this. BollyJeff | talk 13:23, 20 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Mullum Malarum

A few

  • "Mullum Malarum also established cinema as a visual medium that can be made without melodrama, fights, duets or excessive dialogue and with realism integrated into it." - feel this statement is superlative.
  • "—upon whom he dotes—were orphaned during their childhood, and have no close family." - split such statements.
  • "Kumaran has developed a liking for Vall" - rephrase
  • "Kali gives Kumaran and Valli" - can be sth like "Kali is moved by the affection of Valli and.."
  • "he story was about the intimate feelings in the relationship of a brother and sister" - rephrase
  • "because of Rajinikanth's dark complexion and because " - removed the second because
  • "1978's Bairavi—his first film as a main hero—and Ilamai Oonjal Aadukirathu were exceptions though." - rephrase
  • The pic in the theme section doesnt seem relevant.
  • Theme needs a rewrite
  • Refs - i have made some adjustments - tamilstar, blog of Balu Mahendra, desimartini, twitter - you can look at replacing them. Also, sfn is used for some books, while it is not for others - try to streamline it.Ssriram mt (talk) 14:22, 5 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't list an article on the requests page until it's ready to be copyedited; it confuses copyeditors and is unfair to other requesters waiting their turn. You seem to have done this with at least two articles, and if this continues you may find your requests being overlooked. Thanks and all the best, Miniapolis 14:29, 13 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kailash29792, just a note to let you know that I've declined your GOCE request for a copy-edit to the above article, per the conversation here. I've done this because the article is currently unstable and thus any GOCE copy-edits are likely to be lost during the ongoing expansion. Please feel free to re-request a copy-edit when the expansion is completed and the article is stable. Regards, Baffle gab1978 (talk) 01:39, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re your reversion here, I removed the request because I don't think it's a fair use of our editors' time to work on unstable articles. You requested a c/e on the 17th of January; when the request was accepted on 13th of February you suddenly wanted to wait for you to expand it. Now you want the c/e to start again. diff. You've been around long enough to know that a c/e request can be taken at any time by any editor. Either you want a copy-edit or you don't—we aren't here to play silly games with you. Baffle gab1978 (talk) 03:01, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, can you find out the year in which the film got released. While most of the sources say 1982, there are others which mention the year to be 1986 and 1987. Vensatry (Ping) 09:00, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vensa, sometimes remakes receive better reviews than their originals. I heard of this historian named Rentala Jayadeva who conducted intense research to prove that Bhakta Prahladha (the first Telugu talkie) was released in 1932 and not '31, as it was always believed. Perhaps he also knows when Nireekshana released? He has a blog where I think ppl can contact him. Kailash29792 (talk) 09:26, 14 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You seemed to have created a rd from User:Vensa to my user page. Though it was done inadvertently, you should be more cautious in future. I myself don't have the right to do that even in the case of going in for a username change. Above all, there exists a user of the same name. It says "Do not quote comments from members of the general public (e.g., user comments from Amazon.com, the Internet Movie Database or personal blogs), as they are self-published and have no proven expertise or credibility in the field. Polls of the public carried out by a reliable source in an accredited manner, such as CinemaScore, may be used. Do not include user ratings submitted to websites such as the Internet Movie Database or Rotten Tomatoes, as they are vulnerable to vote stacking and demographic skew." And I don't think I have violated them. Then why? -- Sriram speak up 12:48, 21 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at this: Wikipedia:Mos#Linking. During the article's FA review, Bollyjeff decried using links within quotes. -- Sriram speak up 09:44, 25 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Can you do me a favour? There are two articles for Surya Vamsam. Can you group the content in one and make a redirect from the other, thereby merging them? -- Sriram speak up 18:59, 15 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Crores instead of millions

Hey Kailash. I've seen your concern over use of Indian system of money in the budget section i.e. the use of millions in place of crore. But considering our identity and that of how other countries maintain their page like Americans use miles only in their country and hollywood pages although its not metric system, we must also show our identity in use of Indian number system. Srinivasan 08:30, 22 February 2014 (UTC)

For forigners there is USD expression of our money indicated below INR eg.Vishwaroopam page, what more could one ask for. Also help contribute pages that I've created https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Appuchi_Gramam https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaadu_(The_Jungle) Srinivasan 11:15, 23 February 2014 (UTC)

X-Men

I might take a look and mark some more blatant stuff - the biggest problem is that much of the article must be either rewritten or expanded (just compare to what I did regarding the two follow-ups and you can see how The Last Stand article is lacking). Checking the broken refs would help too. igordebraga 18:18, 27 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Kalidas (film)

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Kalidas (film) you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. For making many Tamil film articles reach the status of GA with your contributions and for working on many lost films. This needs to be given to you for your Appreciable efforts on Tamil film articles and for the help you extended to Sriram for Gemini (2002 film). :D Pavanjandhyala (talk) 12:01, 2 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

DYK

Hi Kailash, congrats for getting the article to GA. Are you willing to take this to the DYK section? We forgot Mullum Malarum after it passed GA! Vensatry (Ping) 03:58, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I keep forgetting your rule, or I am just not able to follow it instinctively. Yes, what fact from Mullum Malarum can be added to DYK? Kailash29792 (talk) 04:32, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) I was taking about Kalidas, not Mullum Malarum. MM cannot be considered as articles should be nominated with in five days. Vensatry (Ping) 04:34, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As for the hook, shall I frame it as Kalidas was the first sound film produced in South India or anything as you suggest. Vensatry (Ping) 04:37, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
All right Vensatry, what looks so useful from Kalidas that we can add? That it featured 50 songs, or despite being seen as a Tamil film it featured dialogues in Hindi and Telugu as well? Kailash29792 (talk) 04:39, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I've nominated the article. You're welcome to come up with more hooks by proposing ALTs. Good luck! Vensatry (Ping) 06:42, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Pather Panchali FAC

Closure of an FAC due to inactivity is not a major problem, it can be re-nominated soon. I am actually going for a vacation soon, so won't be able to reply FAC comments perhaps. So, I am not going to solicit comments now.--Dwaipayan (talk) 17:11, 3 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Best practice is to start a talkpage discussion rather than relying solely on edit summaries to have the kind of discussion currently in the edit history of Ra.One. I semi-protected the article for a while, but putting your explanation on the talkpage will allow future editors to refer to or rebut the points more readily. - 2/0 (cont.) 21:19, 7 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kailash i know that TRPoD argues with many users regarding reliability of sources. Even if i complaint to the Administrators, a notice goes to ANI where a group of users participate in the discussion supporting his deeds thus making the whole process vain. That's why even after visiting ANI frequently, TRPoD continues his work smoothly. Since he follows Wiki policies too strictly (which may or may not damage growth of articles considerably) he is appreciated by many Admins and senior users. It's better to remain quiet rather than visiting ANI. But i would try my level best to develop articles and TRPoD will cross my paths again and again resulting in brawls like this. This will only end when either i or TRPoD will be either blocked indefinitely or retire from Wiki. Well, have a nice time.Pavanjandhyala (talk) 06:56, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Same problem. I feel you guys! I have started numerous discussions, but well, he is one adamant editor! -- KRIMUK90  17:51, 8 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bhakta Prahalda

Hi, the discussion seems to be archived. I suggest you start one more discussion after some time but before that discuss the same at Wikipedia talk:INCINE. Vensatry (Ping) 04:40, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vensatry: Despite containing more "Support" tags than "Oppose" tags, the move suggestion of Bhakta Prahladha was closed, with the admin claiming "no consensus", even though it was nearly like a Tamil film fight — one man (Marchoctober) taking on several others, unarmed and unsupported. I have opened this matter at the Indian cinema taskforce over here. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:06, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus is not arrived be means of votes. I'll comment at the INCINE talk page. Vensatry (Ping) 05:15, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
You could also add the vernacular sources which I used in the article's talk page. Vensatry (Ping) 05:20, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Consider posting this at WT:INB too Vensatry (Ping) 08:24, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kochadaiiyaan

Is Rajiv Menon really a part of the film? Vensatry (Ping) 06:04, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Vensatry, these sources [2] [3] and [4] state that he is involved in the film. Any reason u believe he is not? Kailash29792 (talk) 06:09, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, there are quite a few good number of old sources. But I cannot find his name anywhere in the teaser or trailer. Vensatry (Ping) 06:11, 10 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
A small piece of advice: You should stop appreciating edits which violate our policies. Vensatry (Ping) 01:50, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I wont work for any article here after. Thanks for the barnstars that you gave me for Maryan (soundtrack). Whatever I worked for I'm glad. I just don't like Vensatry at all and he is the reason for my exit. Arjann (talk) 17:00, 12 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Glad that I was responsible in some way to make WP a cleaner environment Vensatry (Ping) 08:15, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, yeah Mr.Vensatry, you are very great. You should be given awards on stage with audience applauding at you, right? You are the boss on Wikipedia, atleast. Lets wait and watch the condition of the upcoming soundtrack album pages, how well you would write. I'll be watching. Arjann (talk) 16:43, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Oh come on man, do you think you're the only editor who could create/write such pages. Stop being childish! Vensatry (Ping) 08:31, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

While it has plenty of content, it's not all that comprehensive for me to nominate yet. But you're welcome to do some things as well, such as expanding the incomplete refs. igordebraga 04:50, 18 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

TekkenJinKazama seems determined to put English as a second language, don't they? I think I'm at 3RR. I know they are past 3RR but I only warned after the last edit so the EWN might not do much. Since they just got off a block for the exact edit though, they might. I just kept hoping that they would eventually read and understand the more and more pointed messages I was leaving for them on my talk page. They did finally start a discussion on the talk page, so some hope. I fear that if you or someone else reverts, they'll just revert it back. If you can trust their userpage, they are fairly young and probably just don't give a damn. Ravensfire (talk) 21:43, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I'm just about out of patience with TJK. I'd really prefer not to take this to the noticeboard because I'm pretty sure he'll end up blocked over this, but he won't discuss and is using sources that don't actually support the change. That's a bad thing. Any advice or suggestions? Ravensfire (talk) 20:39, 20 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Have you watched this film? Is there any stuff available to expand this article. Vensatry (Ping) 07:46, 22 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Indic script

Hi. I can see you have reverted my edit. Thanks for notifying me of it. But as per this section, it says that the native alphabet is allowed on film articles. So then, which one to follow? Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mouna Ragam, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nenjathai Killathe (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Ra.One's history

Quite obviously, Ra.One language is most discussed topic now. Mr. Kailash, Jin Kazama one of the editors got blocked for edit war. As per you, Internet Movie DataBase is not a reliable source. So i want to discuss this matter with you on behalf. Let us take example of Jackie Chan's CZ12. As per my concern the film is in completely Cantonese but somehow it has a list of Language spoken in it. When i reverted they said this is languages used in it. More than 2 languages were added. Another example of Bollywood film is Taare Zameen Par. Let me clarify that that film is Hindi only film. So how come English added there? Another thing Ra.One's languages are Hindi no doubt. But has English use too. As per Jin's edits i don't want to speak on it. And that source is only one of Imdb. One thing again i clarify, there are dubbed versions of Ra.One in Cantonese, Tamil & Telugu but this languages are not counted respectively. Only used languages are counted. And i got to know from Ra.One's talk page you said English is used but in first half. It is used. Waiting for your reply Mr.Kailash. mall (talk) 06:59, 29 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
