Techno India College of Technology (TICT) is an Engineering college in West Bengal, India. It is the seventh and youngest college established by the Techno India Group. The college is located on 5 acres (20,000 m²) of land in the Megacity (New Town) area of Rajarhat, Kolkata. TICT is affiliated with West Bengal University of Technology and its courses are approved by All India Council of Technical Education.^[1]

Academics

The undergraduate courses offer B.Tech in various fields including Information Technology, while the postgraduate courses offer Master's in Computer Applications (MCA) and M.Tech in Power Systems Engineering (EE). The courses followed by the institute are in accordance with the University syllabus.^[2]

Admission

Admission to the B.Tech courses on the basis of West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination and All India Engineering Entrance Examination. Admission to other courses are based on criteria decided by the Academic Council of the University. There is a provision for direct admission for a limited number of Non-resident Indian/Foreign National students.^[3]

Research and Development

The Research and Development Cell of TICT began in 2009, and was initiated by the Chairman Mr.G.Roychaudhury. The activities of the cell are:

Industry institute interaction,
Entrepreneurship development,
Research publications,
Externally funded R & D projects and consultancy work,
Interactions of faculty members with outside world,
Faculty development program,
Activities with professional bodies such as the IEEE, IEI and IETE,
Arrangement of expert lectures from industries and funding agencies.

The members of the R& D cell are dedicated to the Advancement and propagation of Educational Technology through technical support, project implementation and academic enhancement.

Very recently AICTE has released the grant- in- aid in response to our project proposals:

(a) Entrepreneurship Development Cell

IIP Cell is to reduce the gap between industry expectations and academic offerings by direct involvement of industry to attain a symbiosis.

(b) Industry Institute Partnership Cell .

To create an environment for self-employment and entrepreneurship development through formal and non-formal programmes. To introduce the concept of entrepreneurship in curricula at degree level. To develop management personnel To utilize the infrastructure facilities and technically trained manpower for the development of non-corporate and unorganized sectors.

To promote employment opportunities. Functioning of both the cells is in progress.^[4]

Training and Placement

The Training and Placement Department at TICT provides personal and career-related support to its students. The college has achieved more than 75% placement from 2009 to 2011.The Training and Placement Department at Techno India College of Technology (TICT) provides personal and career-related support to its students. Offering information, advice, guidance and support for job-seeking students is considered a primary responsibility at the Training and Placement Department. Techno India College of Technology has been achieving more than 75% placement for the last 3 years since 2009 to 2011.^[5]

That is precisely why the College has chosen to set up such auxiliary facilities like Interactive Communication Skills Labs. The Training & Placement Department are helping the student to meet the highly competitive standards of the industry through intensive training programs meant to keep them side by side with advances in technology along with the regular curriculum. The Training & Placement Department organizes Finishing School Program through Soft skills development (Aptitude Test, GD, Conducting Personal Interviews, Grooming seasons etc.) within students to make them feel relaxed in interviews and thus make them better employable. The Training & Placement Department also takes initiative to arrange regular inter-active workshops, seminars. It also organizes industry-oriented special Summer and Winter Training program in cooperation with reputed industries. Techno India Group (TIG) Colleges have been a consistent topper for several years in the list of campus placement records among private institutions in West Bengal and there is no exception for Techno India College of Technology. Techno India College of Technology has excellent infrastructure. Structured building with modern architecture planning, gives the campuse, an international look. Spacious & airy class rooms, laboratories, workshops, libraries, conference halls, spacious food court, health care unit etc.

The classrooms are equipped with multimedia and audio-visual equipment to facilitate effective learning. They are designed to promote maximum interaction between the faculty and the students.

Computing Facilities

The campuse have excellent computing facilities for the students, faculty members and research teams. It includes a Central Computing Hub consisting of state-of-the-art laboratories, well equipped with Desktops & Laptops of latest configurations. High-end Servers, dedicated lease line internet connectivity along with campus connected Wi-Fi Network System is also prevalent. Theses laboratories are supported with authorized licensed System & Application Software, high-speed printers and LCD Projectors. The WiFi connectivity in all the campuses facilitates easy internet connectivity

Library

The campuse have a well stocked fully automated Central Library supported with High-speed internet connectivity. The facility in its true sense provides information support to learning, teaching, research and consultancy with a commendable collection of books, National & International Journals, Magazines, Newsletter and standards along with other e-materials like CDs, DVDs, and Audio & Video Cassettes. Each of the libraries cum information resource centers has an average of 2000 Titles along with 20000 corresponding volumes. They are registered with more than 25 National Journals and 14 International Journals and are fully automated through the Library Automation Software LIBSYS.^[7]

In 2013 : Performance by Silajit Majumder and concert by Mohammad Irfan Ali.
In 2014 : Band performance by Fossils (band) and performance by Anjan Dutta.^[11]

Hostel

TICT has separate hostels for the boys and girls, which are located near the college. The boy’s hostel is situated near by the box bridge which is hardly five minutes from the college, and the girl’s hostel is in Kaikhali, from where a college bus is available.^[12]
