suspect for vandalism

Hi Gillman I just want to tell you the post office at Utica mo is not called Utica please quit reverting the edit for I live the and know a lot about Utica, thanks Utica user

I was with AsadiAmira77 today trying to create a new user for her. First she chose "AsadiAmira" and we didn't get any notifications regarding existing username. One minute later on we saw that you have blocked creating new accounts from this IP: 82.80.196.44 . But i assure you that no vandalism here. We connected again from other place and she created a new user AsadiAmira77 successfully.

Can you release the above IP please? 82.80.196.44 ?

thanks alot — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sameraamar (talkcontribs) 17:46, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately vandalism has been an ongoing problem with that IP, see Special:Contributions/82.80.196.44.– Gilliam (talk) 04:29, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A new user right for New Page Patrollers

Hi Gilliam.

A new user group, New Page Reviewer, has been created in a move to greatly improve the standard of new page patrolling. The user right can be granted by any admin at PERM. It is highly recommended that admins look beyond the simple numerical threshold and satisfy themselves that the candidates have the required skills of communication and an advanced knowledge of notability and deletion. Admins are automatically included in this user right.

It is anticipated that this user right will significantly reduce the work load of admins who patrol the performance of the patrollers. However, due to the complexity of the rollout, some rights may have been accorded that may later need to be withdrawn, so some help will still be needed to some extent when discovering wrongly applied deletion tags or inappropriate pages that escape the attention of less experienced reviewers, and above all, hasty and bitey tagging for maintenance. User warnings are available here but very often a friendly custom message works best.

If you have any questions about this user right, don't hesitate to join us at WT:NPR. (Sent to all admins).MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 13:47, 15 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

About a block that you made a couple of months ago

I just wanted to let you know that this IP is a school IP. I sometimes edit from this IP, though. Can you enable account creation as other people from this school might edit constructively, and I want to create an alt account, as I have forgot the password to my current alt, and forgot to link it to an email address. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 14:23, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Done. I modified the block to allow account creation. Consider letting me know when you have created desired account, so I can reblock. Any logged in users would still be able to edit.– Gilliam (talk) 15:29, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Done. You can reblock the account now. ThePlatypusofDoom (talk) 17:47, 16 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Can you rollback for me?

I revert some vandalism yesterday, but since I can't rollback the article is still affected by it, it's a mess. I didnt notice it until now. I'm talking about Chaldean Christians. I appreciate it very much.Shellwood (talk) 16:44, 19 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hai Gilliam, thanks for your suggestions. i take your words. I used Wizards to create the page about Dr. Subashini, even then it is under speedy deletion. i am not sure on how to create a page for her. her contribution to Tamil heritage documentation is worth mentioning. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thiagupillai (talkcontribs) 08:18, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

Hello, Gilliam. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

195.195.142.10

Hi. I see you blocked 195.195.142.10. Was this slightly premature? They had been given a warning by MartinEvans123 and had done nothing since then. I teach at the college and we have been investigating these issues and warning the users responsible. A block affects all users at the college, not just the vandals. Ewen (talk) 07:01, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I believe the block was appropriate. Since you asked, I will unblock the IP and monitor future behavior via my watchlist.– Gilliam (talk) 07:03, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. You're quite right, there's no way you'd know that we are trying to monitor these incidents at the college. I hope our students reward the faith you've put in them! Ewen (talk) 12:22, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Editnotice CSD

Hi, I just wanted to inform you that you and User:Spinningspark seem to have different opinions as one is removing the talkpages and oce of you is not. See for example Template talk:Editnotices/Page/2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group C (declined) and Template talk:Editnotices/Page/2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group D (deleted). I am not sure why the talkpages are deleted? Qed237 (talk) 12:28, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

And now you deleted the declined CSD for group C link above. Qed237 (talk) 12:30, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you deleting the series of pages such as Template talk:Editnotices/Page/2015 FIFA Women's World Cup Group D? I was working from the other end of the series declining them on the grounds that we don't normally delete talk pages. Yes, the edit notice had expired, but that is no reason to delete the talk page record which would show how the edit notice came to be put in place in the first place. SpinningSpark 12:29, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have an opinion and was just following up on what seemed like a reasonable request. I can undelete the pages if you want.– Gilliam (talk) 12:30, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I restored all of the disputed talkpages.– Gilliam (talk) 12:42, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Secret Agent Julio: On some of the ones you restored, like Template talk:Editnotices/Page/2018 FIFA World Cup qualification (CONMEBOL), the only edit in the history is the request for speedy deletion, so I wonder if the user was trying to get the actual edit notice deleted. SpinningSpark 13:08, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Spinningspark: Yes, I now realise I failed to make that clear, but since the editnotice namespace is protected I thought I would place it on the talk page. My mistake. Secret Agent Julio (talk) 14:38, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Secret Agent Julio: Why do you need to delete anything? The edit notice does not show once it has expired. The only difference deleting the page will make is to return the link to being a redlink. Anyway, I don't have a big problem with deleting those pages. It was deleting talk pages where the parent page was still in place that was problematic. It does beg the question of what is the right way of making such a request. Probably {{Edit fully-protected}}. SpinningSpark 16:03, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Spinningspark: Yeah, the templates don't pose an issue, but there is no point in really keeping them, so I thought I would just tag all the pages in Category:Pages with Livescores editnotice. Sorry about the confusion, I thought I previously tagged a talk page in a similar manner and the main template got deleted. Secret Agent Julio (talk) 16:28, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've added a few nowiki tags to your User:Gilliam/Missouri userpage to keep it from showing in various categories. Vsmith (talk) 12:52, 28 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Extended confirm protection of Fort Loramie, Ohio

I'm a bit confused by your extended confirmed protection of Fort Loramie, Ohio. The last autoconfirmed but not extended-confirmed user to edit the page was Midlothian09, on April 11, 2013. Since then, all edits have been by either extended confirmed accounts, non-autoconfirmed accounts, or IPs. Shouldn't semi-protection be sufficient for this page? All the best, Altamel (talk) 00:08, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

That's what I meant to do; I'll fix it.– Gilliam (talk) 00:14, 3 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Restoring Pages

Saw from my watchlist installed last weekend, you advised this user to gadget which can semi-automatic revert changes made. Think thats not wise, seeing other warnings this user got, besides his name pretending to be admin/system user. With this user RestoringPages , (17:42, 30 November 2016 User account Restoring Pages was created) appareant in collaborating with user Eriba-Marduk actions to replace a summary in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscovy_%28disambiguation%29 with which I got in a revert battle on November 30, and while they didn't provide any proof for their deleting summary and replacing that, I lost it and got block from Oshwah for I accept blame and shame, the 3 R rule. I tried to discuss this with them in their talk pages, but those were immediate blanked, so I put my points/proof on my own talkpage. Sofar not heard back from Oshwah, and want help to that summary, bring that back, report those 2 users (if not the same person btw) and semi-protect that summary that they replaced.

Despite my suggestion, no user may use rollback tools to revert good-faith edits or edit war. If I saw a rollbacker abusing the tool, I would warn the disruptive rollbacker to stop and/or rescind their right.– Gilliam (talk) 11:48, 5 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Benis Wikipedia page

Hello,

My name is Mahmoud Benispourshuda and my family is originally from Benis, Iran. I request that you please stop removing my edits because I am a native of that soil. I think I would know more about my home land and ancestral village than a white man sitting 5,000 km away. Joe Mande

Hi, you previously protected Joe Mande due to persistent vandalism last year. Since then, IPs continue to vandalize the page with similar edits. Would you consider protecting it again? FuriouslySerene (talk) 04:06, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

There hasn't been enough recent vandalism or disruptive editing to justify page protection.– Gilliam (talk) 04:46, 8 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia articles need reliable sources

Every material in a Wikipedia article, regardless of where the material is located, must be supported by reliable sources. The very moment any material is challenged by anybody, that very same material must be supported directly by inline citations. If no reliable sources are provided, the material must not be re-added. Please do not misuse your admin-tools in order to re-add unsourced material. The Wikipedia guideline you quoted (WP:LEAD) clearly stipulates: "As a general rule of thumb, a lead section should .... be carefully sourced as appropriate". Please add your sources or refrain from re-adding this unsourced material. Thank you. 77.4.138.113 (talk) 17:56, 9 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Webster Sycamore

Hello, Gilliam -- Having copy-edited Webster Sycamore a while back, I have the article on my watch list. I was looking at the most recent edits just now, and I see that an IP editor changed "Purdee" to "Pardee" twice, in two separate edits, but left it "Purdee" in the lead. I am unable to access the source articles, so I looked at the revision history of the article and saw that you have edited it. If you have time and are so inclined, could you look into this to see which spelling is correct, and then make the various instances of it consistent?  – Corinne (talk) 23:06, 11 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fredericktown, Ohio

Hi Gilliam,

I appreciate your passion for historical references on pages. A while ago, you edited a major portion from the Fredericktown, Ohio page that, while unsubstantiated in written tradition, is factual representation from multiple sources of oral tradition. Unless you are living in the village or have studied it exhaustively, would you consider allowing the "History" section to revert to the old version? Thanks for you attention.

Kuttaka — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kuttaka (talkcontribs) 19:07, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is, the history section at Fredericktown had been "tagged" as unsourced since August 2009. I believe even though my referenced version is shorter, it is an improvement.– Gilliam (talk) 21:37, 27 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You either won,

or lost when I started looking for an admin to take a look at what is almost an edit war at Tom Perez. The issues are (1) the article, especially the "Endorsement" section reads like a campaign web site (which I believe it is) and (2) the one or two editors who are pushing this material are both anon editors with this article being their only article edited. Could you please take a few moments and take aloof at it. Thanks, Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 18:49, 20 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wayna Q'inti reversion

You reverted my correction to the article "Wayna Q'inti" as - what was your term, "not constructive?" I made a necessary and obvious correction. I removed a word, "machu," that did not by any criterion belong in the article and replaced it the proper term, "wayna," taken from the title, and from the actual name of the location that is the subject of the article. I attributed to it the correct definition of the word in Quechua, the language of the builders of the site. You will note that the author corroborates this usage two more times within the short article. He refers to a nearby archaeological site, Machu Q'inti, for which he also wrote an article. He very probably copied the term "machu" with its definition from that article. The two articles are nearly identical in language. In any case, "wayna" is the correct term here, and "young" is the correct definition. I have to wonder, did you read the entire article before acting? I am versed in this topic; are you? Please do not indulge in casual vigilantism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Czypcamayoc (talkcontribs) 21:58, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I assume you are referring to this diff. At first glance, it did not appear constructive.– Gilliam (talk) 22:22, 28 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I am. Since "wayna" (and "machu") are adjectives, not nouns, I omitted the "young person" reference; however, I would not object to it being re-entered since it is unimportant to me. As the author observes, the name in Quechua means "Young Hummingbird," and if anyone wishes to give the hummingbird personhood I will not object.

Worcestershire Project Barnstar.

Good evening Gilliam, I decided to write to you, as I have noticed that you made a contribution to the quality of the article Hollywood, Worcestershire. Thing is, that recently I found out, that on Wikipedia exists a very good Project, called WP:WORCS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Worcestershire , and I became very interested, as I’m planning to drive to the Archaeological sites in Worcestershire, make plenty of good photos around, and then to start the article about Archaeological findings of Worcestershire. I think, that WP:WORCS deserves to have its own Barnstar, what also, probably will help to make this Project more active. Thus, I applied to the image of designed by me Worcestershire Barnstar, the symbol which have been used by Worcestershire units at the Battle of Agincour (now this emblem decorated Flag of Worcestershire) - county's famed black pear, and placed this new Barnstar on the page of discussions: WikiProject Wikipedia Awards talk page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Wikipedia_Awards If you will have a couple of minutes, please have a look at the page, mentioned above, and if you will find this idea, and the design of WORCS Barnstar as a good one — give your support. All the best. Regards, Chris Oxford.Chris Oxford (talk) 18:12, 3 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

... was from a Spokane IP and added an active telephone registered in Spokane. Regardless of any relationship between the editor and the owner of the phone number, I'm thinking a deletion is in order. Cheers. —ATS 🖖 talk 02:32, 6 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful about what you say to people.

Provide specifics or you look like a BOT. 24.70.193.93 (talk) 12:28, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I think the notion that one "looks like a bot" is irrelevant to the reasoning behind their edits. If Gilliam was indeed a bot (which is he absolutely is not), that wouldn't give one the right to undo his edits on the basis of no specifics left. That would be the equivalent of undoing ClueBot NG. If one did revert you with no explanation, the worst thing you can do is engage an edit-war. Boomer VialHolla! We gonna ball! 12:35, 7 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Makes sense. I don't think it could create a problem, and if anyone who knows better says something on the talk page we can fix it. Doug Weller talk 19:17, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As a compromise, we could replace it with "SCHOOL SOUTHFIELD" or "a school in Southfield, MI".– Gilliam (talk) 21:32, 17 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The first reference was in a highly publicized internet news article against trump where the person chalked full the entire article of my information I filed on a threat I had received and used my dating site user id (Destiny is Chance and on the journalists twitter they debate if Destiny is Chance or Character) and my birthday is in October, my nickname is Sandy, I stated that my friend Bob delivered the message of the threat to me and the parallels continued. My family name is linked to the Romanov line and my grandmothers picture is in the book called "The Camera and the Czars". But the full story is more gruesome and tragic. The man I loved is dead and was a Russian and I gave him a bronze commemorative medal of Nixon.

ALL OVER BUT THE SHOUTING Donald Trump Just Lost The Election His numbers were already nose diving after a disastrous first debate performance, but the tape catching the candidate bragging about sexual assault has alienated key allies and confirms his critics’ suspicions. By Mark Green

The original reference documents stated that Czar Nick II abdicated to the Konstantin line. Only recently is it being pushed about Michailov and maybe people in New York who feel they are the "chosen" ones, but I feel it does not matter and I really don't care.

"the Death of Hope"

as it refers to a non existence URL and appears to be a way to transmit a message consistant with the threats I have received because of a mentally disturbed person using my name, a serious case of misinformation and identity theft including 3 woman pretending to be me with my passport card, drivers license and so on stolen and several letters I was targeted in 3 of the largest security breeches plus meedical records tampered with, all done by computer, and it began with my cell phone being stolen by a Susan Pope who received the package addressed to me, opened it and held it for weeks, with me, fedex, and square trade feverishly trying to locate my cell phone.

My user name on Wikipedia was ahtirskihacker. I can not reset my password as the email was closed because of being hacked repeatedly.

I am no one, zero, and have nothing to do with politics. It is my impersonator that does and continuously attempts to place on me their misdeeds and obviously the journalists do not have the correct information and part of the threat placed on me was the threat of the distribution of misinformation. variations translating to English are akhtyrskaya, akhtyrsky, etc.

My computer log in is hope renewsup17 as is my weight watchers user name and a few others. Clicking on the link in the article on Wikipedia and is says it is not a real link.

I reported a jihadist threat made to me that if I did not comply the worst would befall me and death was one of the three consequential options, the other two were false imprisonment and false mental institution incarceration. Part of that threat included a threat on America with the threat being the distribution of misinformation. I became a victim of identity theft and cyber stalking and was notified that I had been targeted in 3 of the largest security breeches that resulted in my medicals records being tampered with and a myriad of destructive events. It began with the postal theft of my cell phone by a Susan Pope who held my phone for weeks after opening the package addressed to me with fedex and square trade feverishly attempting to locate my phone. The threats and thefts continued. I even have a 2005 internet printout identifying me.

Recently, news articles have been appearing linking my cyber user id's and information to politics.I have nothing to do with politics and neither did my deceased father(8-04-2012).

Now you would have to know my cyber accounts, and have my notes and report I filed on the threats I received to be able to see the parallels between the articles and my cyber information. There are more articles but at the moment I am too tired to locate them to mention and cite the parallels.

The first referenced article was in a highly publicized internet news site (The Daily Beast) against President Trump where the person chalked full the entire article of my report I filed on the threat I had received and used my dating site user id (Destiny is Chance and on the journalists twitter page, they debate if Destiny is Chance or Character) and my birthday is in October, my nickname is Sandy, I stated that my friend Bob explained the message of the threat to me and the parallels continued. When you read the following article you can see the parallels that could have been coincidental but after 3 articles, it is obvious these people have some wrong information or most likely are unaware of a mentally disturbed person is using my name and hacking my cell phones and cyber accounts spreading lies. But the full story is more gruesome and tragic. The man I loved is dead and was a Russian and I gave him a bronze commemorative medal of Nixon. Seeing this article published is extremely troubling and disgusting.

Hello Gilliam, as the blocking admin would you please maybe have a look at User talk:82.30.65.92 and consider whether it is appropriate to remove their edit right to the Talk page? They've twice now vandalized the Shared IP notice, once before and once after their block. I know that it's trivial but I thought they were not permitted to do this and it's just a kind of low-level irritant (quite unlike the rest of this fine institution, then). I have seen a message saying my edit to 'Statvolt' has been removed, but on investigation I see that it stands. I would defend the edit, so I hope that it will not be reverted.
