I am considering a return to semi-active editing, with or without my voluntarily withdrawn adminship. Been floating around as an anon for awhile; might as well be up front about it.

FYI, I've been busy on other wiki projects and I'll likely spend most of my time moving some new articles over here.

I'm truly glad to read that! KOS | talk 16:10, 5 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bear Parade deleted page?

Hello, why was the Bear Parade page deleted? I created the page for the online publisher bear parade. (Bearparade.com.) And would like to have a page for it somehow. Thanks. Tao Lin.

Hi, again. Bear Parade isn't just a collection of personal pieces. Please do a google search. It is listed by most poetry organizations, including the poetry society of america. The authors published by Bear Parade are all well-known. Matthew Rohrer] is the winner of international prizes and the national poetry series, which was selected by Mary Oliver, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for poetry.

I am a contributor, Tao Lin, and have a novel, a story-collection, and a poetry collection coming out this month and next April. The creator of the site is Gene Morgan, not me. Bear Parade receives an average of 250 unique hits a day, and more than 500 when a new book is published. It just started in March 2006 and we have three books scheduled to be released soon, by Noah Cicero. Please consider these things. Let me know. Thanks.

Thanks. By the way, I can't find this information anywhere. Do you know how I can change the URL of a page, but just the capitalization? Like if a last name isn't currently capitalized?

Say the URL of a wiki page is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_yardley. How do I change it so the last name is capitalized?

Why delete my article?

Hi, I just want to know the reason why you delete my article - Saitori. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saitori I don't know much about wiki. I am just a beginning user. I have no objection that you delete it, but I think you should at least notify me about the deletion. Although the stuff I put there is not very nice, since I don't know much about it. But I expected other people can improve it, and then I can come back to check it out.

However, what you did was to delete it. Why? What is your responsibility on wiki? Please! and thanks. jackzhp@hotmail.com Jackzhp 16:10, 29 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

History of Public Access

Why are you erasing the history of public access entry I did? Should I call it History of Public Access instead? George C. Stoney the father of public access agrees with the history. I thought it was too big to put into the public access entry. Could you please explain yourself in the future? In all due respect I'm new at this and learning, and you were brief to erase what I did. I'm the grass roots founder of public access in my hometown of Evansville, IN and have made numerours additions to the public access entry, which have been acknowledged by public access managers across the country. Please don't erase what I've done, but please let me know how I can do it right if it's wrong. Thank you. DavidWJohnson 03:46, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Push with characters.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Push with characters.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 07:05, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

New pages patrol

I see you are right back into this, and I know how much stress it has caused you in the past. I don't know if you are familiar with the new Wikipedia:Proposed deletion system, which was being discussed at the time you left before and has since become policy. I it find a very convenient alternative to speedy deletion and AfD. Essentially, you put {{subst:prod|Reason for deletion}} on an article, and watchlist it. If the author doesn't come back and improve it within five days, it gets deleted automatically. The author or anyone else can legitimately remove the prod tag, but if they don't at least attempt to address the issue at the same time, then the article can be put up for AfD.-gadfium 05:04, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted article

Can you step in and talk to this user? I warned him for creating the article Cumshit (which contained only his signature and which you deleted) and he's... um... not taking it well. He's concluded that I'm rampantly homophobic (which is hilarious for a number of reasons) and is being rather nasty about it. He might go away if we ignore it, but he keeps talking of "escalating" the situation (whatever that means). Um. Thanks? -- Merope 19:13, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I wanted to let you know that this article has been recreated---again! When I saw it come up on the new pages, I knew I recognized it, but could not remember who deleted it or when---though I was certain that it was within the last 48-72 hours. Sure enough, I check the deletes log, and there it is. This is just absolute garbage. I am going to tag it as db-repost. Is that kosher, so to speak? ---Charles 04:09, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

So, is there supposed to be some good reason for the constant recreation of this article? I see no value to it, and assumed it was just a malicious vandal---but, perhaps not. As far as the talkpage format, adapt away. Thanks. ---Charles 18:30, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ok..thanks for writing that. I apologize for the "what do you want". I dont know much about the artist myself. I started the article with some info, and created a partial discography. The aim was to hopefully "set it up" for other people to add more later. The person is "real" and is an "artist" (and i am not him). I have a couple of his CDs. Not sure if the article is still supposed to be deleted. Fuzzbuzz 06:16, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I know it's been awhile, but I went back searching for this article and finally found that it was deleted by you. I'm wondering why, as its AfD had many more votes for keep than for delete (although I understand the reasoning behind the arguments that the pro-delete crowd made). Actually, upon second look, it's difficult to tell, but maybe you weren't the one who deleted the article--maybe it was Sean Black--but your name is involved in the deletion process. Can you enlighten me on this? Thanks. cluth 06:25, 14 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A question

You just deleted a page (Francisc R Cortez). I was adding a deletion template to it, but since you're an admin you were able to do that right away I guess and I got the collission notice when I submitted. I was wondering what I should do, since I'd like to get involved in the recently created pages patrolling - should I bother marking pages or will most get caught by admins before I go through that? Cat Parade 06:42, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Understandable

I guess I was taken back by the quickness the article I wrote was taken down. I use wikipedia on a daily basis and this was my first time posting. I apologize for the rashness of my actions. I think I'm getting the hang of this. Thank you for the advice and I'll drop you a line if I need any help!

You speedied this earlier, and it has just been recreated (for the second time). I was going to speedy tag it but I noticed it has been created as copyvio 3 times, so thought you might want to salt it. Cheers, Yomanganitalk 16:27, 15 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Requesting your kind aid again

Hi, Lucky 6.9! I'm not precisely sure of the protocol here, but I thought I would ask you directly since you're an admin and you've helped me before. Also, you appear to be online right now. ;) I have two issues to bring to your attention:

  1. I have repeated vandalism/personal attacks on my talk page ([1], [2], [3]) from User:Aqua Tot. I've given the appropriate warnings, but each time eggs him on further. I would like it if someone other than myself could review his recent edits and give feedback to him as necessary, so as not to be the only user communicating with him. (I really dislike being the only Wikipedian involved in these sort of disputes.) It's typical juvenile behavior and not particularly troubling, just irritating.
  2. I recently made the decision to remove personal attacks and other irrelevant accusations on Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Sexuality_of_Abraham_Lincoln, in hopes that the discussion would not degenerate. I left a message on one of the involved member's talk page to remind him of WP:NPA. He responded on my talk page here. I don't know if I need to request arbitration or what--I've never had this sort of vitriol directed at me from a registered, established user. Please tell me how to proceed.

Lucky, my Floyd Abrams articles have been nominated for deletion. I explain the point behind them on the deletion page, but if you think this is important information I could sure use someone backing me up. I have spent so many countless hours working on it, that if it's deleted I'll have to taken an extended vacation from contributing, because I think it is very important. I'm all for deleting useless and vanity-fuelled articles, but this man is living history, and I took it upon myself to do this (after I read the book he gave me when I went to take his photograph for Wikipedia). I am writing a grant-proposal around the project; if it's deleted, well, that would hurt me a lot. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Floyd_Abrams_and_the_Pentagon_Papers_case --DavidShankBone 03:05, 18 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, you deleted my Polo Polo article but he really is a famous mexican comedian.

Right, so, before I start a stub should I have a lot of information on the matter first? I just wanted an article as a placeholder, some place to start where I, or someone else, can fill it up later, I don't really understand why it has to be deleted, I thought the purpose of wikipedia is for people to expand on other people's knowledge, I really don't see the point of deleting a stub just because it's incomplete.

Thanks for the help on the Polo Polo article. Just so I'm clear on this, it's better to create no article than one with almost no content and then work on it little by little? thanks again Solid Reign 04:03, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Heya Lucky, I was wondering if you ever thought about using the Proposed deletion system? I notice there's like 10-11 sections on your talk page from people following up on articles you deleted, mostly new ones. The couple I looked at weren't speedy candidates and should have probably been allowed a little time, at least for the creators to work on them. There's no hurry to delete most stubs, and Prod does a good job of weeding the wheat from the chaff, while giving new editors the time to expand their new articles.....thanks, Rx StrangeLove 04:16, 19 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Warning for vandalism? All new topics marked for speedy deletion fell under Criteria for Speedy Deletion. Please note the post.

No problem Lucky. Just trying to help out.

Bothering you again lol. I'm having a little trouble with the article Zippy (SWG). It was flagged for speedy deletion and deleted three times tonight. It came up again and I posted another speedy deletion warning on it. The creator posted a hangon but then some unknown IP removed my speedy warning. Maybe you can solve this.

Please substitute templates on user talk pages

When using certain template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template. Awyong Jeffrey Mordecai Salleh 17:33, 20 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pail Callan entry

Greetings O Lucky One. The Callan biog is authentic as a google will reveal. All details correct.

Kind regards from Fleet Street

Balliol

Why was this deleted?

Excuse me, but I was editing Concordia College, Adelaide. I work at Concordia College and am starting the Wikipedia page for it. Thankyou

Thankyou for your quick response. I agree that there are plenty of short articles on Wikipedia. However, articles must start small to begin with! Thanks

Thanks that really is helpful. I was afraid that you were going to be an @$$ like every admin I've ever encountered, so this is truly a first. BTW if you thought the entry was amusing maybe you should check out Brostradamus at www.myspace.com/brostadamus

Thanks again

Thanks

Thanks for dealing with that Zippy (SWG) problem.

I wasn't sure what to do about all those Indiana Jones articles. I thought about requesting to have them logged under a single series. I found out they were coming from www.indianajones.de

Jon Coffelt

Hi, you protected Jon Coffelt (probably rightly so), but now a page Jon coffelt has been created, which at first glance is about a notable person, and is not a copyvio (at least not from a Googleable source). I can't move this page to its correct capitalization, so I would like to ask you if you can see that the page either gets deleted as well (if it is a copyvio anyway), or else gets moved to Jon Coffelt. Thanks! Fram 14:36, 21 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lucky 6.9

I dont understand why the article Jon Coffelt was deleted as I spent alot of time and energy developing this page and this is in no way a copyvio or a dump When on talks about an artist it makes more sense to me to be precise about any information and although there may be similarities in the body of work and some of the articles as back-up, this in no way minimalizes his work since it is better to consistently list things than to make ad copy. Does this make any sense I think because it is an artist bio or CV situ it makes it harder to create story for it. I also worked on an article on David Moos and for some reason it hasn't been deleted and I am still trying to edit it with source information like I did with Coffelt's work. I do know both of these people and I do think highly of them. Is there any way you would reconsider allowing the pages to stay and if so please let me work more on them if need be. Please let me know I will do the work myself. I suppose since these are my first two then I need guidance also I was sort of happy with them and they seemed to read well. Thank you,

This user apparently thinks that Wikipedia is a hosting service for his literary works and commentaries about various articles, so could you please watch over him? (I'd love to do this myself, but I think this would be best suited for an admin.) Scobell302 08:31, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Redirection of Gadzarts page less than 5mn after creation... why?

Hello,

I just created a Gadzarts page with the intent to put in it the content of the Gadzarts page that already exists on the french-speaking wiki. This page contains information on the Gadzarts, that differs from that contained in the ENSAM and thus in the ENSAM pages. When you redirected it, is was far from being complete. The reasons why I created a separate page instead of adding content to the ENSAM page are the following:

  • On the orignating wiki, both articles are separated;
  • Adding the content of the Gadzarts article to the ENSAM one would lengthen this article too much.
  • The two subjects are quite different. ENSAM is an egineering school. The ENSAM article deals with education. the Gadzarts are a group of persons that share a common and original culture and even have their own language. The Gadzarts article is to deal with this and not with ENSAM.
  • The Gadzarts are a fraternity like Kappa Kappa Gamma for instance. These are described in a wiki article, which makes sense as these are a subject per se.

So, I plan to restore the Gadzarts page as independant from the ENSAM one.

Please let me know your feeling about this before I restore this. I would be useless for both of us to redo all this again.

Deleting victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks

Hi Lucky. I has just create a page about Mario Luis Santoro, a victim and hero of the 9/11 attack. You deleted it immediately without any discussion. But W:en: has a whole category Category:Victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks with several biographies of 9/11 attacks, that are equal to the one you deleted. ¿Can you explain me, please this apparently contradiction? Dirty South Revolutionaries and Charlotte matter.

so whats "known"? i've argued this before. in charlotte people know who dirty south revolutionaries are. this week more than ever, being named in the news for the last few days, due to a scandal with a "riot" / "police brutality" event on september 23rd. they're on tent city records, which is a punk label ran by members of Leftover Crack and Choking Victim. if dirty south revolutionaries aren't important than no punk band is important.

  • is there any possible way to retrive the old page? i really don't want to retype all the info i put on the entry already. i was on my way over to add the info about last saturday to help establish their relevance and now i'm not in the mood to put it up. Lacstewie 03:36, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, lad, I've been listening to punk music since before you were born, I'd bet, and I've never heard of this band. I see no real purpose in arguing the point with you, 'cause I doubt, judging by your numerous comments, that you'd listen to reason, but you cannot honestly be saying that this band is as notable, not to mention important, as, say, The Clash, The Sex Pistols, Black Flag, The Dead Kennedys, etc., etc. Friends of mine have been involved in police brutality incidents, but that, in and of itself, does not make them worthy of a Wikipedia article. ---Charles 03:39, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • true, not saying they're the biggest band ever, i'm saying, if they don't matter to wikipedia, then who does? they are noteworthy because they will become more well known soon. not being said as a friend, but more of a person watching the crest of a wave form. they as people are important in charlotte, people know who they are, in north carolina. if thats not enough to be in wikipedia then i guess my arguement is pointless. and lucky, google cache has the version of the article that i'm refering to. heres the link google cache.

AuSM

Hell's bells, but that was quick! I start to split out an article, go to the AUT page to add a seemain to it, and when I come back you've already redirected AuSM back to AUT! John "The J-Man" Fenton article

May I inquire as to what I can do to make my article acceptable for wikipedia? I don't mean to spam or "vandalize", so I would appreciate any input on this matter. Thank you.

Regis High School and "Tru Love" deletions

I (J-t-m, am a student at Regis High School. I was informed by the Dean of Admissions that the school would be on tonight's l&w:ci episode, so I added a section that includes 2 such film spots on the regis site. I also created a site for the law and order episode, which was quite speedily deleted - about a minute after I created it. I know what i did was not vandalism, and I request that you replace the pages as I had put them up originally. I don't want to have any misunderstanding here, but I do believe that unreasonable deletion of new articles is vandalism in it's own right. I just want to sort out the problem. Thank you.

Deletion of One Piece Online

Hey I have been working on an article, and not 5 minutes after it's creation you have deleted it twice. I am trying to write this article, it is about a video game and I am trying to write a full Article. I created the stub so I could expand as the game did. I was on my way to find the proper Stub marker when it disapeared twice. once last night and once tonight. I am not trying to advertise it, and I don't see any proper reason given for the deletion, so I am assuming you thought it was an advertisement. The project, which i came upon, is very small, so the article can't be that big yet. Can I get a proper reason why it was deleted, both times, by you?--Pyrgus 05:46, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Another Piece Online

Man...you are HARSH! I hadn't really even finished putting up my first WIKI article and you zap it as a "blatant ad." Geez. Talk about discouragement to having people with diverse interests posting information that they think is of interest. I'm going to try and post it again. Do me a favor? Give me five minutes to post and completely edit before deciding it's not of interest to you--and hence the rest of the world. Just to satisfy my curiousity, I'd at least like to figure out how to post to the website.

Xasthur black metal

This page (Xasthurwas protected, so I am proposing to retype the article, from a neutral point of view, and in accordance with all Wikipedia's codes of conduct, using information I have gathered about it from record label sites, the main webpage, fansites and http://www.metal-archives.com/band.php?id=4936. I am on a mission to get the List of Black Metal Bands sorted out.

Could you please allow this page to be edited once more? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Impamiizgraa (talkcontribs)

I also came here to request unprotection for Xasthur after noticing the above user's edit on List of black metal bands. This band is immensely well-known as proved by Last.fm [4] (3,735 listeners) and Encyclopaedia Metallum [5] (44 reviews). Also note that the band has a Wikipedia article on Italian Wikipedia, Polish Wikipedia and Portuguese Wikipedia. I just went through a DRV for Grand Belial's Key, but in this case I have no idea what the article looked like, so I support Impamiizgraa's re-creation proposal and will add the page to my watchlist to improve it if it comes up again. You've probably already heard this, but there are a lot of really cool things you can do with your monobook that make basic admin tasks easier (e.g. rollback all contribs button, new page button, automated warnings). If that picques your curiosity (I'd suggest trying it once, if you haven't), try inputing User:Alphachimp/monobook.js and User:Alphachimp/monobook.css into your files (I think you need to click edit this page and copy the full source).
