    is there any way to put two or more links on one tab, using the standard template for tab headers, {{start tab}}? Here is one example of this template: User:Sm8900/tab header.

    @Sm8900: This can be done on tab n with freeform-n = yes. Here is an example to add a tab 9 with two links on separate lines:
    | freeform-9          = yes
| link-9              = User:Sm8900/user boxes
| link2-9             = User:Sm8900/Awards and recognition
| tab-9               = [[User:Sm8900/user boxes|User boxes]]<br />[[User:Sm8900/Awards and recognition|Awards]]
    When freeform-9 = yes, tab-9 can be anything to place on the tab. The only purpose of link-9 and link2-9 is to determine when the tab will be styled differently to indicate you are on one of the pages. link-9 and link2-9 are not used to make links when freeform-9 = yes.     Mixed-up authority control-links

    Hello in the stub-article about the swedish slong track speed skater (Per Bengtsson) there is a mix up of authority control links most of them are not for the speed skater I believe, there was a merging on wikidata between a the speed skater and another swedish guy (Per Bengtsson (Q5570332)) with the same name and same birthyear, but different birthdate and birthmonth. For example the VIAF profilelink shows both wikidata names, and that is where I think the fault has been developing further on to other authority control profile-links. Since I'm not that much into these kinda profile-links since I don't really understand them. I only know the speed skater a little bit, and people I know in the speed skating family confirms that these two guys are not the same person. So what to to ? Anyone ?     Need to fix my user name

    I've been signed up to Wikipedia since 2007 and I can't believe I didn't notice a small but signifigant error in my user name here on Wikipedia. My user name as it currently is is "Rricci42". I wish to change it to "RRicci428" (the 2nd `r' is capitalized). I can't find a way to fix this. Can someone tell me how to fix this? TIA Rricci428 (talk) 11:10, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Edit for clarity? How to question

    I questioned how something was worded in an entry (Steve?) because that sentence needs work but I could not find where to ask for it to be reviewed. Do you have a mechanism for that? The sentence in question has someone (Steve, apparently) running somewhere--yet nowhere else above that sentence do I see any mention of Steve. Who is Steve? To make it more confusing, the sentence goes on to mention Stephen someone. Are they the same person? Someone wrote to me my change had been undone. Well, yeah. It's been changed back to the same confusing content. Is it common practice to just let errors or confusion stand until or unless someone has the definitive answer? How does one ask for others to at least take a look at something?     @ElleCeeEditor: Your edit was undone by 3125A with this edit as all it did was insert a question mark after the name 'Steve'. Although the content may appear confusing to you this is not the way to draw attention to it. It does not really help and appears unencyclopedic to the reader. It would probably be considered 'talking' within the article. For future reference, you can use a template like so {{clarify|date= month year}} placed, within the source, immediately after the confusing content. The place to discuss this is at the article talk page or at the talk page of the reverting editor. (See the link to their page at the end of the message they sent you).     Momo (food)

    Your information about ‘Momo’ is completely wrong. Momo is not at all related to India. It is a typical food from Nepal. You guys Definitely need to do more research on this. Nepal is not advance in technology so you will probably find less article from nepal and more from india. but that doesn’t mean it is related to India. Nepal and India is a different country, you cant write Indian for anything that is related to Nepal.

    When i search Momo, it says ‘Indian Dish’. This is so wrong. It is a typical ‘Nepali Dish’. I studied in India and no-one knew what Momo was. Lately it is getting popular in India but this does not mean it is originated or related. I was in India for 4 years (2010-2014) and travelled almost all part of India and no one knew what Momo was. Not even a vegetarian MoMo. I am vegetarian and i had Momo since my childhood, in my home-country, Nepal. And Indian people only started eating Momo probably 5 years before. There are thousands of Nepali student in India and they craved for eating Momo While they are in India and they had to cook themself to satisfy their hunger of Momo. because Indian restaurant never know what it was And never used to sell . Some of the Nepali Who lived in India used to sell it in streets but only when Nepali people demands. But now a days Indian people have learned the test of Momo and it is getting popular. Go to Nepal and you will see what exactly Momo is for Nepali people. It is everywhere, street, restaurant, 5star hotel. You probably have to walk few steps to find another momo shop. And the spices used in it is not indian spices, it has typical Nepali species. Esecially in ‘Momo jhol’ (this is like a sauce). You can smell Momo everywhere in Nepal. Nepali people can’t leave without momo. and your information says it is Indian dish. Get some knowledge before you write anything. Because Wikipedia is momething people around the world read.     Hey, welcome to Wikipedia! The article Momo (food) lists the dish as being native to "Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, North Indian region of Ladakh". It is true that Google calls it an Indian dish, but that's not decided by Wikipedia. If you want to change how Google lists it, you can request so by Googling "momo dish" and then clicking "Feedback" under the box on the right.     I only tried a Google search on Momo and got Momo Challenge hoax in Google's box. I do get Momo (food) on "momo dish". Our stock answer:
    Are you by any chance referring to a photo or text shown to the right of a Google search? Google's Knowledge Graph uses a wide variety of sources. There may be a text paragraph ending with "Wikipedia" to indicate that particular text was copied from Wikipedia. An image and other text before or after the Wikipedia excerpt may be from sources completely unrelated to Wikipedia. We have no control over how Google presents our information, but Google's Knowledge Graph has a "Feedback" link where anyone can mark a field as wrong..     I don't agree with that. There is a reason to show the sprinters who won medals at major international competitions. I'm making the article because you can find the sprinters who were active in a particular period, those who won gold medals, and you can also look them up by a name and see how many there are by country. With this list you don't have to click through all the articles to find the major facts about them. It's not going to be tens of thousands, it will be several hundred. I am aware of the categories but using them to help build the articles. If you look in WP:NOTDIRECTORY, it says it is appropriate if the people are significantly associated and contribute to the topic. Maybe I can shorten the accomplishments section to just include the events and the timespan in which they won medals, instead of all the medals.     The deleted page was just two alphabetical lists of 126 male and 18 female sprinters with an article link and country abbreviation. Category:Male sprinters and Category:Female sprinters give the same info but for far more sprinters with no need to maintain separate lists. There may be ways to make a more meaningful list but note we already have pages like 100 metres at the Olympics#Medal summary and 100 metres at the World Championships in Athletics#Medalists.     It's certainly better than the deleted page but when it's all about medals, I would like sortable columns for number of gold, silver, bronze and total, like List of multiple Olympic medalists.     Thanks for the suggestions. I can make sortable columns for number of medals, and another column that lists all events they won medals in (which consists of 60 m, 100 m, 200 m, 400 m, 4x100 m relay, 4x400 m relay, and possibly some imperial distances), and one more column for years from beginning to end of their wins. I'm not sure whether it's necessary to segregate Olympics, World Championships, World Indoor Championships, and World/Continental Cup.     It sounds like a lot of work (I'm not doing it) and a wide table. I would be OK with the combined medal counts. The year of first/last medal appears more relevant to me than lifespan here. I think only one of them is needed to give an indication of their era, and death year seems less important for people known for achievements as young.     Help:Cite errors/Cite error ref no input

    I'm trying to add a reference to the article "TAY SACHS Disease. I have a reference: Fraikor, Arlene L. "TAY SACHS Disease: Genetic Drift Among the AShkenazin Jews. Social Biology 1977, V.24. No.2, pp117-134. It could be reference number 63 in the reference section and the superscript number needs to be added after the sentence where the error is cited. Thanks

    Where can I find articles that are known to not have promotional language?

    I'm working on a project that uses machine learning, and as part of the training dataset I need a lot of articles that are known to not have promotional language. Any ideas for where I could find this? My first thought was WP:Good articles, but these articles aren't representative of an "average" Wikipedia article (they are usually a lot longer). I also thought that Category:Wikipedia protected pages might work, but there are very few there in comparison to good articles. Merlin04talkcontribs 16:54, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    @Merlin04: It's hard to prove a negative. You might be able to train an AI on (revisions of) articles that have been flagged as being promotional and then have it look at our entire corpus of articles that have not been flagged, to see what the differences are. As a guess articles in certain categories (bands, businesses) with certain characteristics (recent creation dates about recently-created entities) will pop right up to the front. -Arch dude (talk) 17:27, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    I would add that if you are looking specifically to avoid promotional language, articles on historical topics (pre-1950) are less likely to contain promotionalism, especially if you exclude articles about extant companies, living people, and people who died in the last 30-50 years. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 18:54, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
    As a crude filter, any article that has two or more of the words listed at WP:PEACOCK is suspect.     Would there be a way to get the top 25,000 articles (by page views) from Wikipedia? From there I could try filtering out articles with words at WP:PEACOCK and ones in categories that could have a higher chance of being promotional.     Tables - layout

    Hello! I'm working on a table (in my sandbox at present) and have two points I'd be grateful for help with. First, there is an extra, thin column on the right hand side of the table that I can't get rid of, and secondly I can't work out how to get text in selected cells to indent. (I've looked at Help:Table but couldn't work out how to apply the code mentioned there.) I've got the relevant cells aligned right at the moment, but aligned left and indented would be better.     @Tim riley: "Suite in Three Keys" has a cell too much. This creates an extra column. It's easy to spot in Firefox because it's the only row where the cell in that column is surrounded by horizontal lines. Other browsers may render it differently.     Free vandalism

    Hello Sir Madam, Greetings!

    I noticed that "User: Joanrivers" only created an account just to attack wikipedia pages. His first edit was to nominate this page for deletion. He even added (2nd nomination) and went ahead to vandalize the page removing some references and also nominated another pages for deletion.

    This is quite sad and discouraging for me at this time of COVID-19 crisis. Is this how the English wikipedia platform works?

    Joanrivers has had an account for over five years. The first item on her contribution list is to nominate Bhanu Srivastav (not this page) for deletion. I can see no evidence of vandalism by her. I do find it odd that for a five-year-old account of a clearly competent editor, the contributions list only goes back one day. Maproom (talk) 07:02, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    A first look at the article Bhanu Srivastav suggested to me that it was junk. (I've already removed a pair of sentences that come with a bogus reference.) If the article turns out to be complete junk, this does not necessary mean that the biographee should have no article.     Template glitching out wierdly

    Templates should place <noinclude>...</noinclude> so no unwanted line breaks are in the output. That often means to start or end on an existing line with text. I have edited the template but we already have {{Uw-tilde}}. PrimeHunter (talk) 17:43, 31 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

    Hello Wikipedia Foundation,

    My name is Daric Erminôte and I join wikipedia in order to write my biography because many people asked me to do it. As I understood, a Wikipedia Level 2 user is required to write a self biography, and many references required in order to process the publication.

    I went on google and I wrote the keyword "wikipedia writer" and I pick a random writer that promise to me to write on my draft; he was https://www.procreativewriters.com/ promising 150$ for it and honestly they did not done anything, I been scammed from fake reviews.

    I would ask you how to arrange a level 2 account on wikipedia without publishing anything and without modifying public pages because actually nobody ask me help.

    Looking forward remote help or the guideline to work properly on my account.

    @Daric erminote: Again, please read the autobiography policy to learn why writing about yourself is strongly discouraged here. Wikipedia is not interested in what you want to say about yourself, only in what others say about you, if you meet Wikipedia's special definition of a notable person. This is not social media where we tell about ourselves.     I saw many people not that notable on wikipedia, honestly I believe my argument is more interesting than many on wikipedia, but of course I realized nobody want to add me on wikipedia because of notoriety of whatever. Some people really kindly asked me to check on how to add myself on wikipedia, but nobody want to help me and I am not really interested to become a writer; I really believe it is helpful to recognize information but it is not a priority. Now, if you believe it is right to help me, fine! Wikipedia summarizes what independent reliable sources with significant coverage state about article subjects that meet Wikipedia's special definition of notability. Wikipedia is not interested in what an article subject wants to say about itself. Typically, articles are written by independent editors who take note of a subject in reliable sources and choose to write about it.     I am not aware of any policy that says we should favor non-profit content over for-profit, or vice versa. But as an editor, I have observed that people representing a business often feel slightly apologetic about using Wikipedia to promote it, whereas people representing a non-profit often show a sense of entitlement, which makes them harder to work with.     It's also progressively annoying to see such paid "non-profit"ers refer to Amazon, when they really mean Google Books, which provides scans for many non-profit institutions, including Archive.org, the organisation that seems to pay Wikipedia and Wikimedia 'volunteers' to mass push archive.org links in as many articles and file pages as possible. (And of course Google has also been providing many pictures from the Google Art Project, yet some rather frame them as our biggest enemy.) I'm not sure whether it would be compatible with WP:AGF, but maybe we should get a guideline for favoring non-scam over scam as soon as possible. I notice that the article has a tag pointing out that it depends too much on primary sources, and would ideally be rewritten to cite and depend on secondary source (about Codd and his rules, rather than by him and his associates).     The visual editor tab seems to have disappeared

    Hi! I'm a little confused atm. The visual editor tab seems to have disappeared for me and now I am only able to edit source. The drop down tab that normally is on the left hand side of the screen has also vanished. I'm not sure if this is the case for everyone (and that the visual editor is no longer a feature) or if this has just happened to my account. Any info on this would be super helpful. Thank you!     How to set a constant in the context of a template, for use in calculations

    This seems very basic, but the answer has eluded me. I want to assign a numerical value to a named constant so that the constant can be used to represent that value later in calculations, within a template. For example: a template for {{invetory}} might return a value for the number of apples, oranges, bananas, or fruit. I want to be able to set apples = 21, oranges = 42, and bananas = 63 within the template, then use those values later to calculate fruit = {{#expr: apples + oranges + bananas}}, without recursively calling the template for the values.     Putting in the "last section" in this case would be the references section, which had the affect of causing excessive whitespace in the reflist - which is to be avoided per the {{commons category}} documentation. In this case, I think it is better in the "See also" section. Removing {{clear}}, which I didn't notice, fixed the problem. Thanks Trappist the monk for catching that.      I'm having some issues with a table I'm trying to create.





     I need the 1412–1444 row (in bold) in the Head of Government > Period  section to occupy a position on the table congruent with the height of the Sri  Amar Diraja row to its left - overlapping the bottom part of the Sri  Parameswara row, and spanning the Megat Iskandar Shah and Muhammad  Shah rows.

     But adding a rowspan="3" to the 1412–1444 row alters the height of the Sri  Amar Diraja row and eliminates the overlap on the Sri Parameswara row. The  1412–1444 row spans the Megat Iskandar Shah and Muhammad Shah rows  correctly, but I need to preserve the overlap on the Sri Parameswara row.  Thanks!     I think it can be done, by adding a whole new "1412-1414" row, with no content, and increasing the rowspan values of the various cells will incorporate sections of it.     @Tiger7253: The challenge in your current table is that there is no cell which is only in the row corresponding to 1412–1414, so the row may be rendered with height 0 by browsers. A way to try to avoid it is to declare a suitable minimum height of a cell which includes the row in a rowspan. Below I used style="height: 3em;" in the 1400–1414 cell. The result depends on circumstances but looks good on my screen. On a narrow screen "Sri Wak Raja I" may break in two lines and then my solution can stop working because 3em isn't enough to make the cell higher than it would otherwise be. 5em works on a narrow screen but looks bad with unnecessary height on a wide screen.     computer filter

    I thought the word "n*gga" in the article nigger was written #####. After I tried fixing it due to WP:Uncensored, I realized this is my computer filter doing it automatically. Since I can't change it back, because my filter automatically changes the word, the article is stuck with ##### for every time it is meant to say n*gga. Can someone please revert my edits?     Is this a minor edit?

    This question is about the second of two edits. As the first edit, I may enter a substantial amount of text. I also include either square brackets or curly braces or both. I may make the first edit either manually, or via a script, or Twinkle. After viewing the result, I see that it looks wrong. On editing it, I see that the problem is that the brackets or braces were not balanced properly. (As an information technology engineer, previously called computer programmer, I have had to balance parentheses and square brackets for more than fifty years, and have always had to correct errors due to unbalanced delimiters.) I correct the imbalance and save it. The second edit significantly changes the appearance of the screen, but was not a change to the content.     @Robert McClenon: I agree the syntax correction is minor. The point of the minor flag appears to be to allow people to filter out edits that should not need reviewing. Unfortunately, it can't be trusted, as newbies and/or vandals use it incorrectly often enough to make it pointless to me as a consumer, at least in the watchlist. I wish the filtering would allow you to disregard the flag for people with fewer than n edits. I do still take care to flag my minor edits with it for those who do find it useful (I mostly do minor formatting work and rvv lately).

    Special:Contributions page

    Hello. On my Special:Contributions/Viriditas page, there is a drop down box to the left of Twinkle that says “More”. If I click on it, it links to an option, “Rollback all”. This makes me very nervous, as I have accidentally clicked next to it several times. Does it give a subsequent warning if I do click on it by accident, or does it automatically rollback all?     If you want to remove it, it's a user script so can just be removed from your js file.

Note that autobiographical edits are highly discouraged per the autobiography policy(please review). Please note that it is not "your Wikipedia page" but a Wikipedia article about you. You will need to propose further changes to the article as formal edit requests on the article talk page. You have no special rights to it as the subject; you cannot lock it to the text you might prefer or prevent others from editing it. Any information, good or bad, can be in the article about you as long as it appears in an independent reliable source and is not defamatory.
