PROD of Jonny Hill (rugby union)

Hi Thepharoah17, have added sources to the article you PRODed (Jonny Hill (rugby union)), it's still not perfect and needs some more sources, but I believe it's enough to remove the PROD tag and have done so. Thanks for picking it our for having no sources though. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 20:01, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. I actually thought you would not like me adding the PROD tag. But ya BLPs need sources though. Thepharoah17 (talk) 20:34, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Wasn't my page but I'm really surprised it survived as long as it did without any sources given that the player has made over 100 appearances and been named in an international squad. Would have thought somebody over that time would have added at least one source. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:14, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled granted

Hi Thepharoah17, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the autopatrolled right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. However, you should consider adding relevant wikiproject talk-page templates, stub-tags and categories to new articles that you create if you aren't already in the habit of doing so, since your articles will no longer be systematically checked by other editors (User:Evad37/rater and User:SD0001/StubSorter.js are useful scripts which can help). Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! ~Swarm~ {sting} 00:59, 17 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Bulgarian minister wrong entry

Hi. You’ve edited the Nikolay Nenchev, and entered that he was diagnosed with COVID-19. The person, who was diagnosed is a different Nikolay - Nankov, who is deputy-minister, as the Reuters article you quoted correctly says, “Borissov said he was informed in the afternoon that deputy Construction Minister Nikolay Nankov had tested positive for COVID-19 and decided to self-isolate until the health authorities decide whether he should be quarantined or not.” Someone fixed it already, so no worries. Be careful with the Bulgarian names, they may be tricky sometimes. Veni Markovski | Вени Марковски (talk) 10:40, 30 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Giza/Gaza

I suspect that in the unsourced text that you removed, the IP who put that text there meant Giza Governorate rather than Gaza. Remember that Arabic is normally written without explicit vowels.

عمرو بن كلثوم, it is absolutely inappropriate to canvas a user who you think might agree with your point of view to an article--- especially when there is an active RfC in place. I'm not whether I'm supposed to report this or not, but I've placed the appropriate tags in the RfC section, as is required by policy. If you've canvassed any other users to the page, you should disclose that now. Bishonen, is this something that I'm supposed I'm supposed to report to an administrator? If so, I suppose I just did so. I figure this sort of flew under the radar since it was in Arabic. Symmachus Auxiliarus (talk) 03:46, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Symmachus Auxiliarus Thanks for the ping, but as you can see my message was on 8 November while the RfC was added at 22:27, 12 November 2020. So, this is way before any RfC request. Kind regards, Amr ibn Kulthoumعمرو بن كلثوم (talk) 04:02, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. It's always difficult to know how to approach these kinds of things while still appearing civil, especially if it was simply a misunderstanding, so I'm glad you didn't take this the wrong way. I still think it's technically inappropriate to canvass a user to an article where you think they'd be likely to agree with you, but since it was before the RfC was opened, as you pointed out... I'm not sure it's technically a violation at that point. I'd suggest leaving the tags in place though. Since I seem to be a bit lost here, I'll ping GorillaWarfare, since it appears Bish hasn't been active for several hours. By the way, GW, please let me know if it's okay that I ping you for things like this. I've rarely needed the opinion of an administrator while doing "wikignome" type things, so I'm not sure whether you (or administrators in general) prefer a comment on their talk page, or that a user go to a noticeboard. And as I said to Amr, I'm also not sure whether I'm even supposed to make someone aware of this sort of thing, beyond placing the tags. Symmachus Auxiliarus (talk) 04:10, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No problem pinging, Symmachus. I don't think any admin action is needed here, but Thepharoah17, Symmachus Auxiliarus is correct that you should not do this again in the future. GorillaWarfare (talk) 04:19, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Point taken. Sorry Thepharoah for having all this on your Talk page. Cheers everyone, Amr ibn Kulthoumعمرو بن كلثوم (talk) 05:16, 16 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

It is a personal attack to accuse another editor of being a sock puppet without verification. Don't removed sourced content.

Just wanted to let you know, "Made by konil15 so its bad and I can remove it" isn't an argument. Konil15 is blocked for disruptive edits and being a sock puppet, but you can't remove sourced content, often information which is vital to the article. Act in good faith, if you find no reason to remove content don't, the fact it was written by Konil15 shouldn't change that. You need to have a reason to remove sourced content, if you keep removing sourced content without any explanation other then Konil15, your just removing sourced info which isn't allowed. Just a heads up. Much of what he wrote is the base of many articles, created a large amount of articles and he made a large amount of neutral edits. He is still blocked for being a sock puppet and also being prone to flaming up. However if your only argument is "Konil15 wrote it" that's not good enough. Moving articles without requests (to remove the term "Rojava")

Hello. It appears you are unilaterally moving articles with the name of “Rojava” in them without formal Move Request discussions, which you know are required and matters of dispute, since you have taken part --> seen here in the recent debate to move Rojava conflict. However, it appears 3 days after that vote, you have moved --> seen here the article Kurdistan Region–Rojava relations to AANES–Kurdistan Region (essentially removing the name “Rojava”), which matches your actions from a week before where you moved --> seen here the article Rojava–Islamist conflict to AANES–Islamist conflict. I would request that you please stop doing such actions since they’re against Wiki policy (as a disputed matter), and to revert yourself in both cases (and any others), to prevent involving administration action. Thank you.  Redthoreau -- (talk) 23:37, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Discretionary sanctions alert

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in the Arab–Israeli conflict. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

@Dreamy Jazz: What kind of garbage is this? I didn’t do anything wrong. All that "disruption" that someone claimed I was doing was reverting sockpuppet user:Konli17's edits. He was the one who caused this whole case to be opened. He was the one who was blocked for being a sockpuppet and for being disruptive. I said I would not edit Kurds-related articles and I left this encyclopedia altogether. For half the month of January, I didn’t go on Wikipedia at all and then for ten days in February, I also didn’t go on Wikipedia at all. I started going on Reddit. Not even a warning? I just wake up one day and find myself topic banned. I didn’t know reverting a sockpuppet could get you topic banned. If I had known that, I wouldn't have done it. Does it say somewhere that reverting a sockpuppet can get you topic banned? I only started editing last year when the pandemic broke out. I started out by editing pandemic-related articles and even created a couple of them. Then, I gradually started editing other articles and discovered this sockpuppet and initially I was even neutral and someone even thought he was my sockpuppet and then I realized he was the one who was wrong so I sought to get rid of him and sure enough, he ended up being a sockpuppet. I guess I went too far then when I reverted his edits. It definitely didn't cross my mind that it would get me topic banned. I'm here to build an encyclopedia. Look at my talk page and you'll see that an article I created was put on the did you know on the main page even though I didn't nominate it myself and didn't take part at all in the nomination. Even block me for a few days but a topic ban is way too much. I didn't know what arbitration was either. What did you want me to do? Read about what it is? Even the user who opened the case ended up being indeffed. At least give me another chance. Topic banning me without even a warning is just too much. Again, my main quarrel was with the sockpuppet and his edits. Thepharoah17 (talk) 00:00, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am a clerk for the Arbitration Committee. The decision is theirs and my actions here are purely to implement their decision. I cannot remove the topic ban, nor could I add it. Furthermore, per the decision you can't appeal this next year. I suggest that you edit elsewhere, show it isn't needed and then appeal in a year. Thepharoah17, I'm not really sure what to say. In looking at your contributions, while you haven't necessarily been editing consistently over the last two months, you do have more than 500 edits since the case was originally requested on 6 Jan. Since that time, you've received three additional notices regarding the case yet you made zero edits to any of the case pages.
I totally understand not knowing about some of the more obscure areas of Wikipedia such as ArbCom, but I would think that if you were told that "you were listed as a party in a case" that you would ask someone about what that meant.
Now of course, reverting a sockpuppet (even if that wasn't known at the time) is perfectly acceptable, but there was more evidence than just you reverting that editor that factored into the Committee's decision to enforce a topic ban.
As you say, you do have a lot of positive contributions, and I hope that you will continue to be able to productively edit Wikipedia (provided you are not editing in the topic area from which you were banned). If you wish to discuss this further please feel free to ping me, and my talk page is always open. Primefac (talk) 01:26, 24 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitration motion regarding Kurds and Kurdistan

The Arbitration Committee has resolved by motion that:

The phrase "articles related to" in the topic bans for GPinkerton, Thepharoah17, عمرو بن كلثوم, and Supreme Deliciousness are struck, to clarify that the bans are not limited to article-space.

AE block

To enforce an arbitration decision and for topic ban violation, you have been blocked from editing for a period of one week. You are welcome to edit once the block expires; however, please note that the repetition of similar behavior may result in a longer block or other sanctions.

If you believe this block is unjustified, please read the guide to appealing blocks (specifically this section) before appealing. Place the following on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Please copy my appeal to the [[WP:AE|arbitration enforcement noticeboard]] or [[WP:AN|administrators' noticeboard]]. Your reason here OR place the reason below this template. ~~~~}}. If you intend to appeal on the arbitration enforcement noticeboard I suggest you use the arbitration enforcement appeals template on your talk page so it can be copied over easily. You may also appeal directly to me (by email), before or instead of appealing on your talk page.

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."
