== Draft:Secret Nazi Bases ==

Hello, I am writing an article about this documentary television series, which is also known as ''Secret Nazi Ruins''. It is ok if I put sources that are mentioning the subject in the other name? Because there are sources that say ''Secret Nazi Ruins'' and I want to know if it is ok? [[User:Ange2444|Ange2444]] ([[User talk:Ange2444|talk]]) 11:18, 2 April 2024 (UTC)

What should I do If someone has copied my draft and published it without my consent?

Recently @Khotanese26 copied Draft:Shivaji's Southern Campaign [1], I think I could ask for a speedy deletion at maximum. Sudsahab (talk) 03:11, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sudsahab:You gave your consent when you hit the "publish" button to save your draft. You licensed all of your input under a CC-BY-SA license. You have no recourse, assuming the copy was properly attributed to you. If it was not attributed, it should be deleted as a copyright violation. The other user would then still be free to copy it with proper attribution.-Arch dude (talk) 03:34, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
First of all he didn't attribute it to me second If there would be an article in namespace with the exact name as my draft then why would any page reviewer review it? Should I abandon my draft? Sudsahab (talk) 04:10, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:CWW for a bit more context regarding this. Remsense 04:31, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sudsahab: It looks like the best approach is for you to initiate a history merge. See Wikipedia:History merging#Instructions_for_tagging_a_page_for_history_merging. Arch dude (talk) 04:43, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your suggestion, I'd definitely go for merging Sudsahab (talk) 05:24, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Sudsahab: I deleted the unattributed copyright violation 1674-1678 Southern Campaign of Marathas. To avoid further problems, I moved your draft to 1674–1678 Southern Campaign of Marathas (with an en dash instead of a hyphen dash). I will soon make the former a redirect to the latter. Can someone help me put English translation to singer's page?

I've been a fan of Bell Chung (Taiwanese female singer) for a long time. And I made an English version of her Wiki Page. However, since I'm not an extended confirmed editor, I'm not allowed to publish the English version.

Can someone help me with it? Kevinkevinjiang987 (talk) 06:42, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You may submit it via the Article Wizard. 331dot (talk) 06:56, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Kevinkevinjiang987, as "Kevinkevinjiang987", you've so far made a total of just one edit in en:Wikipedia: the plea for help above. I suggest that you get experience editing and improving existing articles before attempting a new article. -- Hoary (talk) 07:58, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We regularly have translated contributions from other Wikipedias, provided by novice editors. Provided the source article is in good shape, its a perfectly valid way for novices to contribute. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 15:11, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Andy Mabbett, agreed. However, I find that the source articles are very often, perhaps usually, not in good shape. The examples I see of translations into English tend to be from Japanese; and the Japanese articles used tend to be feeble. Consider this thing, which informs us in all (and typically Japanese) seriousness that the subject is 157 cm tall, weighs 46 kg, has a BMI of 18.7; has the "three sizes" 88, 60 and 89 cm; and that coursing through her is type A juice (presumably influencing her personality accordingly). Height aside, none of these "facts" appears in the en:WP translation (en:WP being less inane than ja:WP); but what's left strikes me as feeble indeed. -- Hoary (talk) 23:58, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Central alignment using < div >

Hi. I'm having some issues using < div > on my user page. Specifically, I can't align the userboxes to the center in the "Countries I've visited" section. Could someone please look into this issue and possibly fix it? Thanks. CanonNi (talk) 13:28, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    @CanonNi: Try {{center block}}. Bazza 7 (talk) 13:39, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    I used {{center block}} but it's still broken. Could you take a look please? CanonNi (talk) 13:45, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    @CanonNi I add a {{Clear}}. Does that help? Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:48, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not really. {{clear}} partly fixes the issue but it generates a massive gap between the section and the next. CanonNi (talk) 13:58, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you found a better compromise. Mike Turnbull (talk) 14:34, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Tanujaanu New accounts like yours are not allowed to move drafts into main-space because they tend not to meet Wikipedia's standards for notability in particular. Please use the articles for creation process whereby your draft is reviewed by an experienced editor. More at H:YFA. Mike Turnbull (talk) 15:57, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
.... and I note that you removed the redirect at Shaun Romy to create an article for an actress. However, you have ignored the policy for biographies of living people which states that inline citations must be given for all details likely to be challenged, which includes, for example, her date of birth. Why are you in such a hurry to create articles? Quality is more important than quantity. Mike Turnbull (talk) 16:02, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis

I don't know if this is the right place to ask this question. I've done plot summaries for The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis season's 1,2 & 3. Reliability of source

Hi, I came across this website: [2], its presentation and UI makes me question its reliability on first glance but upon further inspection it seems to have very comprehensive and detailed information which could be extremely useful for articles such as Metasequoia, Metasequoia glyptostroboides, Hu Xiansu, W.C.Cheng etc if it is considered reliable. Can someone else take a look to see if it is reliable or not for sourcing? Many thanks. Zinderboff(talk) 17:46, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Add person?

     – Heading added by Tenryuu.

Can a person be added to Wikipedia: Dr. Stanley Pearle of Pearle Vision? 2600:1700:8990:2B60:F919:3043:3821:B074 (talk) 18:23, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, IP editor. Stanley Pearle is probably notable in my opinion but the challenge will be finding reliable sources that devote significant coverage of him that are indepent of him. There is a book about his life called "Dr. Stanley Pearle: A Man of Vision", but I suspect that it was sponsored by the company he founded. But several other books also discuss him and his career, according to my Google Books search. News coverage that I found easily is largely based on statements issued by the company. A deeper search may produce truly independent coverage. Please read Your first article. Cullen328 (talk) 19:30, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An easier alternative is to expand Pearle Vision where he is already briefly mentioned to include a paragraph or two of well-referenced content about the founder. Cullen328 (talk) 19:34, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Missing episode details

Good evening When I opened up my browser and went to the Knight Rider Episode 1 episode listing page that I was in last night I found that the episode synopsis (brief explanation) of each episode is missing. Is there a way to get it to display again? I checked a few other TV shows like The Flash and found the same problem. PhilipGray123 (talk) 20:27, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PhilipGray123: Please clarify which articles you are having trouble with. Knight_Rider_(2008_TV_series) is showing episode descriptions. As far as I can tell, Knight_Rider_season_1 never had episode summaries. RudolfRed (talk) 20:36, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
RudolfRed thank you for responding. The episode summaries of all episodes of all the TV show listings I have Looked at are not showing. All I see is:
    The episode number
    The episode title
    The Director's name
    The Writer/s name/s
    I have a screenshot but I am unable to attach it here. PhilipGray123 (talk) 21:06, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PhilipGray123:  Fixed. The problem was that the sublist template was calling for the page title Knight Rider (season 1) when the actual page title was Knight Rider season 1, without the parentheses. As the documentation for {{Episode list/sublist}} reads:

ShortSummary: [...] Leaving this parameter empty will result in the summary row not appearing for the episode. If {{Episode list/sublist}} is used then the page name must be specified to display the summary there, e.g. {{Episode list/sublist|List of Carnivàle episodes|...}}. The summary will not appear if the code is transcluded in another page.

Formatting in original, edited for proseline.
I moved the page so that the parentheses are present in the title, which caused the summaries to reappear. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 21:41, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Tenryuu. Knight Rider Season 1 is now showing the summaries. Seasons 2 to 4, The Flash Seasons and Supergirl seasons are displaying with the summaries missing. From my perspective this is a global issue affecting all TV shows listings. PhilipGray123 (talk) 22:30, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This appears to be because there was a recent request for comment over how TV series seasons should be titled, and the consensus appears to have been renaming them, which has caused templates to break. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:35, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Tenryuu for you prompt responses. I hope there is a way to fix them all at once because fixing each one separately will take a long time. Hopefully you will be able to role back the changes that were made. PhilipGray123 (talk) 22:45, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@PhilipGray123: I've reverted my move as there was consensus found in renaming the article titles. Dealing with the template appears to be an action item over at the RfC's post-action section, so I suggest keeping an eye out on that discussion as they haven't reached that point yet. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 22:46, 30 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Will they be fixing this for ALL episodic TV shows? Beccib23 (talk) 04:04, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
From what I can tell, eventually. It seems there are some users who are doing it manually, though I'm hoping that they can be changed very quickly via a bot. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 04:20, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
But why did they remove them to begin with? I see something above about 'broken templates', can't they just 'unbreak' them? I depended on the episode descriptions for many shows that I watch. Like I said in my original query, I suppose I will have to use tmdb & IMDb instead. Beccib23 (talk) 19:24, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Everything seems to be fixed as of 1:25 pm (PDT) today. Here's hoping it sticks? Beccib23 (talk) 20:27, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's what they've been doing manually. It was an unintended consequence of how the template works when moving pages. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 21:46, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Lichen: out of date info in articles cited

2016 research changed the scientific picture of lichen, but many of the citations in the article are from before then, and do not agree with current knowledge. Is there a way to delete such out-of-date information, or ??? I can't find anything in help, and I experimented with no success. Linddaski (talk) 04:39, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Courtesy link: lichen. I agree that extensive changes may be needed. Whoever undertakes updates is going to need recent knowledge of lichen biology, as well as understanding of Wikipedia policy. The sources added by Linddaski are, I believe, reliable. They say that some, or maybe many, lichens have symbiotic yeasts, as well as fungi and cyanobacteria. But I don't think they claim this for all lichen species, so most the content of the article may still be valid. Maproom (talk) 08:49, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CanonNi. I've reenabled archive indexing on your Talk page. The link will show a blank page for a while, until the bot kicks in. If you don't see anything on that page after a couple of days, please ask again. I may be away by then, so to attract attention if nobody responds, you can add {{HelpMe}} below, along with your question or comment. Larger non-English Wikipedia articles

I'm looking to see if there is a tool or resource that can highlight the largest gulfs in size between articles in non-English Wikipedias and their corresponding English articles, to get ideas on where to contribute by building out English versions. I searched the Wikipedia department directory and was unable to determine where the best place to ask this question would be, and there doesn't seem to be an answer on WP:Translation either.

Is there a good place to go with this question? Kwkintegrator (talk) 17:01, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Kwkintegrator I think this is a reasonable place, but if you don't get a good reply here, you can try Wikipedia:Village pump (technical). Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 19:05, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kwkintegrator: Doesn't really answer your question about size discrepancies, but you may want to take a look at Category:Articles needing translation from foreign-language Wikipedias. If you go to a subcategory about a language you're interested in, that subcategory will contain articles that have been tagged as needing expansion from the relevant-language WP's articles. Image Vandalism Guidance

Hello, I need some anti-vandalism guidance. Hope this is an ok place to ask.

I know this is isn't Commons, but is there a way to flag the image for Wikipedia edits or ask for the deletion of the image on Commons? It appears to be a vandalism only image. I know the Commons deletion requests exists. I guess I am asking, what would you do in this scenario where there seems to be a link between vandalism between Commons and Wikipedia? Thanks in advance! Classicwiki (talk) If you reply here, please ping me. 20:02, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've blocked the IP range on this wiki, which should help a bit. This probably isn't the best venue generally to ask for it, but it worked. WP:AIV might have worked in this particular case, or at a push ANI. Commons has a convenient link in the sidebar to nominate an image for deletion. If you link the IP's contributions, along with a description saying how utterly useless the image is, I'd wager it will get deleted. Commons deletion is a bit random, but I get the impression you need an actual reason to keep a useless image that is being used for vandalism. Also btw check out WP:64. -- zzuuzz (talk) 20:19, 31 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Juliusz had one sister Paulina Nachimzon - Wolfsohn, died in Treblinka in 1943 at the age of 85. 5.91.62.231 (talk) 13:42, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor: Wikidata shows that there are articles on him only in the German and Russian-language Wikipedias. What do you propose we here at the English Wikipedia do with the information you are supplying about his sister? Note that to add anything about a sister will require that you supply a reliable, published, source. Mike Turnbull (talk) 13:57, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    April Fools question

How do I joke nominate an article for deletion. Blitzfan51 speak to the manager 15:21, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you have to ask how, then you probably shouldn't see Wikipedia:April Fools/April Fools' Day 2024 for the mostly unfunny attempts. Theroadislong (talk) 15:28, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are instructions at the top of Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Log/April Fools' Day 2024, @Blitzfan51, if you still want to make the attempt. 57.140.16.57 (talk) 16:00, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Citation attribution when source is entirely reproduced in another publication

What's the proper or usual way of creating a citation for a source that is located in its entirety, solely as a copy, in another publication?

Example: A news article has been reproduced on another web site or in the appendix of a book, with full attribution to its origin, and the article appears to be unavailable elsewhere.

Should the article be cited to the original publisher, with only the link pointing to the site where it has been reproduced? Tsavage (talk) 16:27, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Tsavage there is advice on this at WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT. TSventon (talk) 16:33, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That answered my question. Thanks! Tsavage (talk) 17:00, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Was my article submitted properly?

I recently created a new article on the "Loudoun Resolves," which I believe I submitted, but this being my first new article I can't tell if it's actually been properly submitted. Although I see it on my account page, I haven't heard anything to suggest it's been submitted or is in review. I've not received any email or other indication to suggest it's in line for review or publication. Can you tell me how I would know if it was successfully submitted? Can you help me? Dawelker1861 (talk) 16:48, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have added the submit template to Draft:Loudoun Resolves for you. Theroadislong (talk) 16:51, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Proposed a page for deletion

    Hi Wikipedia Team,

I wanted to edit an organization page but it has been flagged and doesn't look good. As it has been rated low content. So we initiate a speedy deletion since January but only the edit I have made have been removed. We want the complete deletion of the page as we'll create a new one from scratch. Until now the page is still up. What do you advise us to do at this stage? Thank you in advance.

    Best,

    Aiche Aichemoussa (talk) 16:53, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The guess is that this involves Global Partnership for Education, which is very thin (in fact almost non-existent) on secondary sources. There also looks like a possible WP:COI here.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 17:27, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes the page is the Global Partnership for Education. And I'm not paid to edit it but I'm fron the communications team. We would like to update the page content as there are new relevant information. Would anyone tell me if the speed deletion is the solution? Or should I create a new page and submit that one a the main reference? Thank you Aichemoussa (talk) 18:18, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is a classic WP:BOSS situation. Wikipedia is not a business directory, and there needs to be enough secondary reliable sourcing to justify having an article.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 18:44, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. That's useful to know. Aichemoussa (talk) 18:52, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Aichemoussa: As you are part of the company, you must disclose a paid relationship with the subject on [your] main user page, or on the talk page accompanying any paid contributions, or in edit summaries, even if you're not being compensated for this particular job. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 18:46, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your input. The goal is to remain neutral as much as possible and of course we expect other contributors to edit the page. But also having a an existing page with accurate data is what we look to achieve. Nothing more. Aichemoussa (talk) 18:54, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Becoming an editor

How do I become an editor? Editing a page specifically for Beta Sigma Phi. I'm a second generation legacy and can verify any info on it. Also, my great Aunt was Nettie Lee Benson (tenured History professor of Spanish American studies at University of Texas, Austin) and I have a history degree from Texas A&M. I'm 6th generation Texan (and Daughter of the American Revolution) with a vast knowledge of Texas history. And ican also trace my paternal lineage to John Hanson (first president of the continental congress, senate first president of the United States but logistics 🤣).So I'd like to see if i can gain access to Wikipedia so I can add historical pics/ documents with references.

I am doing the research and watching videos to learn but trying to figure the whole system out.

    Thank you! Julie Baxter Baxter00Jules (talk) 19:10, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Baxter00Jules: Hi there! By editing here, you have become an editor! Any information you would like to add to the Beta Sigma Phi article must be based on a published reliable source, not just your vast knowledge. You may wish to post your suggestions on the article's talk page - Talk:Beta Sigma Phi - to collaborate with other editors on how to improve the article. Happy editing! adding a higher resolution png of an insignia

Good day, i have a higher resolution of this insignia (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:1st_(BE)_Corps_insignia.png) and i want to add it. please tell me how to proceed in sharing it. I keep on getting the copyright problem but there is no copyright to it as far as i am concerned, i was born there and it's history and pretty public. Or maybe i am just doing something wrong. Thanks for your assistance in advance. WARD MARTEIN (talk) 21:16, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Edit to Max Schneider Page

    Hello,

I tried to make an edit to the bio page for Max Schneider to clarify that his father is Dan H. Schneider, executive director of the Flobel Foundation and a lawyer from New York. Max Schneider is not related to Nickelodeon's Dan Schneider. Br19881987 (talk) 21:25, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You didn't offer an independent source in the article ("bio page") that identified confusion about whom he is related to as an issue for Max Schneider- you just put a note. 331dot (talk) 21:36, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    Do you represent him? 331dot (talk) 21:37, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A better way to approach this would be to find a reliable source that describes who is father is and what he does, then it would be clear. 331dot (talk) 21:39, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You sent me an Inquiry two days ago about a draft article I submitted late last year mentioning that I had not made corrections/amendments for five months and what was my plan with it

The title of the draft article is "Proportional Representation - Party List would create a different political culture in Australia".

I did not realise that it had to be edited, I lost you inquiry so please send it again if you don't mind. I frequently have article published in Australia about this topic by digital publishers, e.g. Independent Australia and Pearls and Irritations. I find it quite complicated to get in touch with you to be frank but I am certainly interested to have this article published by you - and other ones as well. @Klaas Woldring: The draft has been deleted. See the note on your talk page User_talk:Klaas_Woldring if you would like it undeleted so that you can continue to work on it RudolfRed (talk) 23:54, 1 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

How do I submit a Draft Article for Review.

    Hello Wikipedians:

I have attempted to finish my Draft Article. I am not sure what to do next to get it reviewed. The only option I have is to Move the Article. I am a newbie. It took a great deal of edits to get it right.

I need help getting my Article Approved if possible for the Frisky_Business_Palm_Springs_Cat_Cafe Draft. Thank You for anybody to tell me what the next step is.

    Thank You. 2024BrianK (talk) 00:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@2024BrianK: If you really think it's ready to go then you can add {{subst:submit}} to the top of the page to put it in the reviewer backlog. Personally it looks nothing like an encyclopedic article, and I suspect that it will be declined (or worse, rejected) as is. —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 00:30, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Quoting/Copyright

Hello, I am wondering what to do when something is so short and terse that it is not easily put in my own words, e.g., Tislelizumab is a humanized immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) variant monoclonal antibody against the immune checkpoint-inhibitory receptor, PD-1. from here.

This seems too terse and precise to really reword, but I feel it is weird to put it in the article as "Tislelizumab is a humanized immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4) variant monoclonal antibody against the immune checkpoint-inhibitory receptor, PD-1." (i.e., the whole sentence, and the whole section as of now, just in quotes).

    Kimen8 (talk) 01:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Kimen8: If it were copyrightable, then it would be a copyright violation whether or not you used quote marks. However, If there is basically only one way to express a thought, then it's not copyrightable, and I believe this is such a case. Since you intend intend to cite the source, it's also not plagiarism, whether or not you use quote marks. In my opinion, leave out the quote marks. -Arch dude (talk) 02:23, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you. That is what I'd hoped, and thanks for clarifying that quotation marks/straight quoting doesn't save me. Kimen8 (talk) 03:27, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

    Category: Important people

Under the above category, there are several important people not listed, and I can not figure out how to add/edit them in. I am spending too much time on you tube and your site, and can not understand all the instructions, with so many ins/outs, and hard to seem to get it right. What else can I do? geesh, just a few names/dob/dod/titles. Thanks SPA-Belen (talk) 02:10, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@SPA-Belen: I'm not certain what you're referring to – Category:Important people does not exist. Could you provide a link to the category, or the exact name? Tollens (talk) 02:15, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I just looked at your filter log – I assume you are referring to your edit which would have added Ida Jo Anaya-Cargo to Belen, New Mexico § Notable people not going through? If this is correct, please be aware that in lists of people on Wikipedia, the notability of the people in the list has to be demonstrated before they can be added – this is usually done by there already being a Wikipedia article about the person, which there doesn't appear to be for the person you were trying to add. Glory of the Seas

    Glory of the Seas.

How do you want a new book From Whaler to Clipper Ship (written by MJM) and two articles in periodicals listed (one by MJM and another by Richard Jones formated by the necessary codes to be acceptable? How will the text for the book title be formated in italics? Michael Jay Mjelde (talk) 03:26, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Michael Jay Mjelde. If you are talking about an article about a book, then using Template:Infobox book will automatically italicize the name of the book in the article title. Cullen328 (talk) 04:36, 2 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not edit Wikipedia articles directly, when they relate to you – you should instead propose changes by making edit requests. The edit request wizard can help you to do this.
