- Unknown date – Minconsult is a private limited engineering consultancy was founded. One of notable project is Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Power Station.
- Unknown date – SMK Aminuddin Baki, Johor Bahru was established.
- Unknown date – Tasek Corporation Berhad was founded as Tasek Cement Limited. One of Malaysia's largest cement producers.[2]
- 19 January – Dato' Onn Jaafar the founder of UMNO dies. His body was laid to rest at Makam Mahmoodiah, Johor Bahru.[3]
- 19 January – Parti Negara was dissolved after death of Dato' Onn Jaafar.
- February – The Cobbold Commission is established.[4]
- 7 April – The World United Against Malaria campaign is commemorated in Malayan stamp.[5]
- 10 April – Stadium Negara, Malaya's first indoor stadium is officially opened.[6]
- 21 April – United Democratic Party (Malaysia) was founded and dissolved in 1968.[7]
- 17 May – Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Pendidikan Teknik Cheras was established.
- 1 October – Free primary education is introduced in Malaya.
- 24 August - 4 September – Malaya competed in the 1962 Asian Games held in Jakarta, Indonesia and ranked number 8 with 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 9 bronze medals.[8]
- 1 September – Singaporean integration referendum is held for formation of Malaysia.
- 13 September – Tan Sri Aishah Ghani become first woman appointed as Senator.[9]
- 11 September – Tun Abdul Razak Hussein heads the country to the Commonwealth Prime Minister's Conference in London.[10]
- 22 November - 1 December – Malaya competed at the 1962 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth, Western Australia with achieve 1 bronze medals in weightlifting sports.[11]
