CD Block

Jaridih is a community development block that forms an administrative division in Bermo subdivision of Bokaro district, Jharkhand state, India. It is located 6 km from Bokaro Steel City, the district headquarters.

Geography

Bandh dih, a census town that is a constituent of the Jaridih CD Block, is located at 23°39′30″N 86°0′34″E / 23.65833°N 86.00944°E / 23.65833; 86.00944.[1]

Jaridih CD Block has an area of 207.5 km2 and has 17 panchayats and 42 villages.[2]

Demographics

As per 2011 Census of India Jaridih CD Block had a total population of 104,988, of which 75,671 were rural and 29,317 were urban. There were 54,455 males and 50,543 females. Scheduled Castes numbered 11,250 and Scheduled Tribes numbered 32,202. Population below 6 years was 15,342.[3]

Jaridih CD Block has three census towns (2011 population figure in brackets): Bandh Dih (13,192), Jena (8,143) and Tanr Balidih (7,982).[3]

Hindi is the local language in the Jaridih area. Santali is also spoken in the region.[4]

Literacy

As per 2011 census the total number of literates in Jaridih CD Block was 61,736 (68.87% of the population above 6 years) out of which 37,268 were males and 24,468 were females.[3]
