The National Liberal Party–Tătărescu (Romanian: Partidul Național Liberal-Tătărescu, PNL-Tătărescu) was a political party in Romania. Beginning with December 1947, the party was known as the National Liberal Party–Bejan (PNL-Bejan), as leader Gheorghe Tătărescu resigned from the party and was replaced by Petre Bejan.
History
The party was a splinter from the National Liberal Party (PNL) established in late 1944 by Gheorghe Tătărescu, the party's general secretary (the rest of the party was consequently known as PNL-Brătianu). In April 1946 the party opted to join the pro-government Bloc of Democratic Parties.[1] In the November 1946 elections the Bloc won 347 of the 414 seats, with the PNL-T taking 75.[2] In the 1948 elections it ran, as PNL-Bejan, in opposition to the government coalition, only receiving 7 seats.
