Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) (stylized as SAMSUNG Galaxy A56) is an Android smartphone manufactured by Samsung Electronics. It was introduced and released in December, 2015, along with Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016), Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016), and Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016).

Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) system on chip is Exynos 7580, which is a 64-bit Octa Core 1.6 GHz Exynos 7 SoC processor. The graphic processor of the phone is Mali-T720. The smartphone has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB UFS 2.0 internal storage, with support for removable MicroSD cards of up to 128 GB. The device's MicroSD card slot has been designed to allow insertion of a SIM card, and thus the A5 (2016) can also be used in Dual SIM mode.

Design

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) has an aluminium and glass body, unlike Samsung Galaxy A5 (2015), the A5 (2016) has a larger 5.2-inch display compared to the 5-inch display of predecessor Galaxy A5. The A5 (2016)’s display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4, also on the back side of the phone.[1]

Software

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) runs Android 5.1.1 Lollipop right out-of-the-box. Samsung has released the Android 6.0.1 "Marshmallow" update and Android 7.0 "Nougat" update for it.

Availability

Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) was released in China on December 15, 2015. As of April 2016, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is now available in Europe,[2] Africa, Latin America and Asia. As of May 18, 2016, the phone has been introduced to North America.

The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) was announced a few days into 2017.
