Shingashi Station (新河岸駅, Shingashi-eki) is a railway station on the Tobu Tojo Line in Kawagoe, Saitama, Japan, operated by the private railway operator Tobu Railway.[1]

Lines

Shingashi Station is served by the Tobu Tojo Line from Ikebukuro in Tokyo, with some services inter-running via the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line to Shin-Kiba and the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line to Shibuya and onward via the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Minato Mirai Line to Motomachi-Chukagai. Located between Kami-Fukuoka and Kawagoe, it is 28.3 km from the Ikebukuro terminus.[2] Only Semi express, Commuter express, and Local services stop at this station.[3]

The station consists of a single island platform serving two tracks. Storage sidings are located on either side of the station for track maintenance equipment.

History

The station opened on 17 June 1914, initially named Takashina Station (高階駅).[1][2] It was later renamed Shingashi.

Through-running to and from Shibuya via the Tokyo Metro Fukutoshin Line commenced on 14 June 2008.[4]

From 17 March 2012, station numbering was introduced on the Tobu Tojo Line, with Shingashi Station becoming "TJ-20".[5]

Through-running to and from Yokohama and Motomachi-Chukagai via the Tokyu Toyoko Line and Minatomirai Line commenced on 16 March 2013.[3]

Passenger statistics

In fiscal 2010, the station was used by an average of 23,138 passengers daily.[6]
