@Piotrus: Thanks. My previous DYK nomination also required 2 QPQs which I filled, so I think this is an update issue, any idea how to solve it? Makeandtoss (talk) 11:26, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Makeandtoss, I a not sure what you mean? Everyone has to do 2 QPQs until the backlog is lessened, AFAIK. I just did 6 QPQs for my 3 recent DYKs, shrug. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 12:55, 5 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Concerns have been addressed; waiting for a new review. Makeandtoss (talk) 13:14, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I am happy to re-review this - very interesting subject. Earwig picks up nothing, so I will have a read of the underlying bibliography. Onceinawhile (talk) 14:52, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I have reviewed the seven most-used citations for close paraphrasing or copyvio:

I could not see any remaining close paraphrasing. @Makeandtoss: I did notice that three of the citations did not refer to the relevant author and the relevant paper, only the edited collections. I have fixed three of the citations below; if you agree please would you update the citations?

Other than that, I am happy to (re)approve this. Onceinawhile (talk) 17:23, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Onceinawhile: Thanks for the review; I have updated the bibliography but not sure how to update the sfn templates; can you do one example showing how? Makeandtoss (talk) 20:33, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Makeandtoss: it's not working because in my three bullets above I added "ref=none" because there are no links on this page. If you delete that at the article, they will work with the new surnames (i.e. the authors not the editors). Onceinawhile (talk) 21:40, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Onceinawhile: Fixed, thanks. Makeandtoss (talk) 08:10, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Scope

[edit]

Hmm thinking out loud: is the article's scope now History of Palestinian journalism, History of Palestinian newspaper printing, History of Palestinian newspapers (what about magazines?), or History of Palestinian press journalism (in contrast to broadcast journalism)? See History of Middle Eastern newspaper publishing; History of Spanish journalism; History of American newspapers. Thoughts @Zero0000:? Makeandtoss (talk) 22:01, 6 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think "journalism" is correct at this stage because there is not (yet?) a natural place to summarise the broadcast or magazine genre. Also the historical distinction between newspapers and magazines is unclear and trying to separate them cleanly might be a problem. Zerotalk 01:45, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Zero0000: I think the article can be considered "complete" now. Thoughts, and on the lede? Makeandtoss (talk) 13:12, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Not even close, as it just mention the number of the non-arabic newspapers. If you try to write a history of Palestinian journalism, it does include also the jewish, armenian etc. media. 91.153.7.141 (talk) 08:10, 27 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

@JJMC89: WP:NFG says galleries that include non-free images are discouraged, but not prohibited. Three images in a gallery are not exactly over the top, and they are useful for the reader to be able to visualize the newspapers that are being discussed on the article.

WP:NFG: "Exceptions should be very well-justified and alternate forms of presentation (including with fewer images) strongly considered."

WP:IMGCONTENT: "The purpose of an image is to increase readers' understanding of the article's subject matter, usually by directly depicting people, things, activities, and concepts described in the article." Makeandtoss (talk) 09:54, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Even if they weren't in a gallery, use in the article wouldn't satisfy WP:NFCC#8. — JJMC89(T·C) 16:51, 7 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Close paraphrasing

[edit]

I added a tag for close paraphrasing because of a discussion at WT:DYK; permanent link here. ~~ AirshipJungleman29 (talk) 00:04, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Name

[edit]

@Makeandtoss: would you consider removing the words "History of" from the title? The article as written would justify the simpler and wider title of just Palestinian journalism. Onceinawhile (talk) 22:23, 2 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the current focus in this article is more on the history aspect. The way I see a Palestinian journalism article, it would be focused on the current period, so the entire scope would start from the post-Oslo era, rather than from Ottoman period. It would also elaborate much more on broadcast journalism and other kind of current restrictions etc. Makeandtoss (talk) 06:44, 3 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
