More evidence this guy was born in 1981 and not 1982

Untitled
[edit]KayakerX (talk) 19:52, 9 October 2010 (UTC)You may want to add this for everyone who wants to know why he has the nickname, "The Situation." From The New Yorker magazine, January 18, 2010, page 70, author Nancy Franklin:
The nickname, he explained on the Tonight Show, came from an incident in a club when a couple walked by him and the woman was so captivated by his abs that she pointed at them. Mike's friends said to him, "Dude, that's a situation right there." And I said, 'Yeah, I guess that is a situation,' and it stuck." END
Deletion tag removed
[edit]I removed the deletion tag because, under the usual Wikipedia rules for reality competition shows (I'd link it if I could find it at the moment), his being named a celebrity contestant on Dancing with the Stars (U.S. season 11) (the equivalent of an American Idol finalist, where the rule is most famously applied) automatically makes him notable, even assuming Jersey Shore does not. Every other celebrity contestant on every season of DWTS (including season 11) has at least a link from his/her season's Wikipedia article, though I didn't see if any of them were redirects. --RBBrittain (talk) 15:56, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Please note that I have NO objections to any proposed improvements to the article. My point solely is that, regardless of anyone's opinion of Jersey Shore (pretty low IMO), he now meets the notability guidelines as a DWTS contestant. --RBBrittain (talk) 16:02, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
- Perfectly sound reasoning! No objection here. Hopefully, someone will improve the article. Kjscotte34 (talk) 17:09, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Removed out of place sentence about his family in Deltona, Florida. Seemed like a silly comment and not actually info about the subject. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.82.54.254 (talk) 03:18, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
This needs to be deleted...
[edit](1) When was he EVER mentioned to have 0even attended a college, let alone for us to state "after college..."??? (2) There is absolutely no proof whatsoever of his ever being a model, particularly prior to his newfound fame via "Jersey Shore." -->In sum, the way the article reads now, it not only implies, but it stakes the reputation of this site upon the incredibly dubious assertion that this man was an attendee/graduate ofND a model of some sort prior to his being featured on the reality series "Jersey Shore." As such, this needs to be remedied and fast. If not, what is the point of what we're doing here, folks??? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.126.199.39 (talk) 05:58, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
I think it safe to say that he didn't graduate from college based on an interview on the Jay Leno show (September 14, 2010). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Nj40PHyE8w&feature=related
In addition he did mention on the Jay Leno show that he attended Kean University and Monmouth University. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Nj40PHyE8w&feature=related —Preceding unsigned comment added by Subroutines (talk • contribs) 02:49, 27 November 2010 (UTC)

Birth date accuracy
[edit]Can anyone confirm that he was born in 1982? He undoubtedly graduated from Manalapan High School with the class of 1999, which would place his birth year as 1981, unless he skipped a grade at some point in time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MiHeath (talk • contribs) 15:53, 15 December 2010 (UTC)
- Knowing this his birth date is July 4, and that he graduated from high school in 1999, means he was born in either 1980 or 1981, certainly not 1982. I agree. Jrcla2 (talk) 04:19, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
- What is the best way to find a "reliable" source to fix this information. There are references online that list the corect information, as well as news reports of him working on his 30th birthday, yet all of them are considered "gossip". The reliable source, IMDB, unfortunately is controlled by himself/his agent, whom are intent on reporting a false age for marketing purposes, any suggestions? MiHeath (talk) 18:37, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- I know this is old, but why would there be any need to lie about your age when it’s just a year’s difference?2600:1700:EDC0:3E80:B844:9340:250:403B (talk) 19:56, 4 January 2022 (UTC)
I don't think he is smart enough to ever skip a grade. He is undoubtedly lying about his age. Why he only shaved off one year is beyond me?? But then again, it is not like this guy is very bright. Just google "mike the situation sorrentino 1981" and you will find lots of sources listing his birthdate as 1981.Bjoh249 (talk) 07:50, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- All due respect, what you think of him "smart or not" is totally irrelevant. As you say, he could be lying - but he could be an attention seeker too. Meaning he could act about being this and that. So bar "google this" etc. because if there is no reliable source confirming his birthdate - his birthday is out. -- MST☆R (Chat Me!) 08:27, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Should 1982 be removed from the article, as well?MiHeath (talk) 23:26, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
I say just remove 1982 and leave July 4. Or put 1981 or 1982 after his month and year, or put like 1981? or 1982?Bjoh249 (talk) 08:15, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
- I had actually don this and it was reverted back to simply 1982... the problem is that none of the resources listing 1981 are considered "reliable", even though they are most likely indicating the correct information MiHeath (talk) 16:11, 3 November 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't call IMDB a reliable source either. They have got many things(celeb birthdates and celeb stats and facts)wrong before too. Bjoh249 (talk) 06:26, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Parodies
[edit]On October 13, 2010, a new episode of the Comedy Network original series, South Park aired that was entitled “It’s a Jersey Thing”. Within the episode, numerous characters including Mike from the Jersey Shore television show are parodied in unconventional and inappropriate ways; thus, making them appear more animal-like than human. At the same time, when responding to questions posed by the South Park community, these ‘new characters’ consistently respond with ‘it’s a Jersey thing”. See It's a Jersey Thing.

Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.
The result of the move request was: It appears we have consensus to move the TV personality to Michael Sorrentino; the dab page will stay at its current title. Cúchullain t/c 15:48, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
– Clear WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. He was viewed almost 40,000 times last month.[1], the film less than 850[2] and the disambiguation page just over 1,000.[3] Unreal7 (talk) 20:16, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Comment The Situation (disambiguation) page should be merged to Situation (disambiguation) page. If this article is moved, then the edit history of the disambig page should be moved as specified in the nomination. -- 65.94.76.126 (talk) 23:50, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:Recent. The Situation (film) has as much long term significance as Sitch Michael Paul Sorrentino. In ictu oculi (talk) 01:45, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- But would Support Michael Sorrentino below. In ictu oculi (talk) 03:29, 11 May 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose the current title would seem to be only sufficiently precise for identifying the subject of the article. Any simpler, and things would get lost or confused. -- Ohconfucius ping / poke 01:54, 7 May 2013 (UTC)
- Move to Michael Sorrentino (or Michael Paul Sorrentino). This is his real name, isn't it? --George Ho (talk) 17:25, 8 May 2013 (UTC)
- Move to Michael Sorrentino, his nickname/stage name is covered in the lead and can be a redirect if necessary. FlatOut 12:02, 15 May 2013 (UTC)
