Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. An infobox is not enough
[edit]When you create an article, like Battle of Tezirzait, you must include at least an opening sentence which tells us what the article is about. An infobox is not enough. I've added the lead sentence here: "The Battle of Tezirzait took place at Tezirzaït, Niger, in June 2008." That means that someone finding the article in a Google search etc sees that first sentence and can see what the article is about. Please remember to include text, not just an infobox.
Please also remember to include sources for your articles: references to published information in Reliable sources, whether online or in print. Thanks, and Happy Editing. PamD 21:45, 2 February 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia policy
[edit]You obviously do not understand Wikipedia policy. First, saying that adding references is a waste of time is a first big NO on wikipedia. You can not edit info without refs. Per policy any info that doesn't have references can be removed at any time. Second, saying that you created the article doesn't mean anything on Wikipedia. Per policy anybody can edit articles on Wikipedia and per Wikipedia policy article creators, like yourself, do not have exclusive copyrights to an article. Third, you are at this point engaing in edit warring which is also against Wikipedia policy. You have reverted me 2 times, per policy if you revert someone 3 times within a 24 hour period you can be reported to an administrator and blocked for a few hours, friendly warning. I do not understand your problem my friend. What I have been trying to do is make the article more encyclopidic and properly referenced. EkoGraf (talk) 06:08, 27 February 2013 (UTC)

Battle of Ifoghas
[edit]That article is about the battle in the Ifoghas mountains from February 22. What the French are involved in is a separate operation/battle in a separate part of northern Mali. What the Tuareg militants are involved in is also a separate skirmish. You can not combine all those separate battles into one battle. If you want to write about the French operations create a separate article. EkoGraf (talk) 15:29, 1 March 2013 (UTC)

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Siege of Namur (1914), and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.firstworldwar.com/battles/namur.htm.
It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.
If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material. You may use such publications as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details. File permission problem with File:"Aguelhok.jpg".jpeg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:"Aguelhok.jpg".jpeg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:26, 17 March 2013 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:"Aguelhok.jpg".jpeg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:"Aguelhok.jpg".jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Greetings; I think there is a misunderstanding what the flag is supposed to be used for the article. Every other page uses the flag without the traditional symbol in the triangle. Everything I seen from the MNLA website doesn't include the symbol on that flag (but does on another flag) at http://mnla-arabic.net/index.php/photo.html. I know there is a photo of the other flag floating around, but out of all of the photos and videos I seen, the symbol-less flag is used. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 03:50, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
I agree with you, that the flag is more used for domestic uses. But the editor who created the image sully for the use of the Azawad article will feel disappointed if you just erase it completely with the other flag without the Berber symbol. It's just a flag and they are both for the same use but maybe you can add a different section of the article where you can illustrate the different versions of the flag, but I think you should just leave the traditional one to represent the country, plus it's nicer looking. EthanKP (talk · contribs) 6:03, 9 April 2013
- I am not going to have the image deleted from the Commons; the flag does exist and I do not object. I am trying to harmonize the images and I can have one done with the Berber symbol. I think it would be better placed at the flag of Azawad article to show a variant. I'll see what kind of magic I can work up. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:07, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Azawad#Variants I added his image. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:11, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
- Since the flag isn't confirmed as the state flag, after the searching of English, French and Arabic sources, what I did was I removed the flag from the article, but also removed the link to the article of the national flag. This is similar to what was done with the motto. Instead, I put the flag in the politics section and said "this is the flag of the MNLA, sources also claim this is the de facto" state flag." User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 02:00, 10 April 2013 (UTC)
- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Azawad#Variants I added his image. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:11, 9 April 2013 (UTC)

[edit]A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Kidal suicide attack.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. - Hi Ethan, who is the copyright holder? Meaning, who is the person who held the camera in their hand, aimed the camera at the subject, and pressed the button? In order for the image to be acceptable to use here, because it does not meet our fair use requirements, the copyright holder must explicitly license the image under an acceptable license, such as the GFDL or the Creative Commons Attribution-Sharealike 3.0 license. Are you in communication with the copyright holder? If so, could you ask him or her to forward a letter of permission, similar to the one found at WP:CONSENT, to permissions-en@wikimedia.org? If not, then the image is not appropriate for use here and will have to be deleted. --B (talk) 20:09, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
Sure, the copyright hold is Abdelnasser Garboa as it says on the image's article and the website where i got it from,I'll ask him to personally give permission as long as the photo is not deleted. Thanks for the info.EthanKP (talk · contribs) 17 April, 20:13 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. WP:CONSENT should explain the permission needed. If he forwards a statement of permission to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, please note on the image {{OTRS-pending}} so that the image will not be deleted until after someone from Wikimedia's OTRS team has a chance to review it. It is best, by the way, if he use his an official email address (if applicable) or one that is shown on his website so that whoever reviews the email can know that it is actually from him. Please be patient in awaiting a reply - the backlog is insanely lengthy (3 months as of now according to commons:COM:OTRS.) --B (talk) 20:18, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
- Email has been sent, addressing the copyright issues etc. Will I be allowed to keep the picture on the article until the email is accepted??EthanKP (talk · contribs) 17 April, 22:51
- I think that's reasonable - we can ping the OTRS message board and ask them to search and try and escalate rather than leaving it in limbo 3 months. --B (talk) 21:34, 17 April 2013 (UTC)
