Wings Season

[edit]

Hey, I was wondering why you created the page for the 2010 season for the Wings now? Isn't that a bit of WP:CRYSTALBALL. Or at least, way to soon? _Nezzadar__ 01:32, 16 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello MrBoo. As the defacto head of WikiProject Lacrosse, I thought you might appreciate an invitation to what I'm hoping will be a joint success story with a related (in a lot of ways) new wiki site called Fanbase.com. I'm not promoting or spamming this, but rather trying to direct certain wiki users to another active wiki community where your specific insights in sport would be appreciated. I've spent the past three months doing a lot of work on the site, first when it was in beta mode, and then after the site officially launched on Aug 24. I think it ties in real nicely to what wiki users have been trying to accomplish in Wikipedia, namely documenting sport and, especially, lacrosse history. So feel free to browse the site -- http://www.fanbase.com -- and join in the fun!

You may also be interested to know that FanBase just introduced a professional lacrosse section covering the MLL & NLL. The NLL group consists of a grand total of 6. So someone such as yourself with a tremendous insight into the NLL would fit right in, IMO. And again, at some point I could see certain situations where Wikipedia & FanBase can tie in together.

Anyway, please let me know if you feel this request conflicts with Wikipedia TOS or even your own sensibilities. And thanks !! --10stone5 (talk) 12:07, 18 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

NLL game logs

[edit]

Hi MrBoo, I see that you are diligently creating all the articles here. I just had a couple minor questions/comments about the game log format that's used. Firstly, I feel like the '#' column is somewhat redundant for playoff games (as seen here). If we have the 'Game' column, shouldn't that be sufficient? If there were multi-game playoff series I might feel differently about this. The other thing I was thinking about was that the '@' and 'City' seem rather cramped. I think it would look better if there was a space in there (ie '@ City' as opposed to '@City'). That is how other sports seem to do it. Anyways, let me know what you think about these two comments. If you don't have any objections, I'll start making these changes. I'll also convert all the old Rock seasonal articles I created a year ago to your new format. Danlaycock (talk) 10:03, 12 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds good. I don't mind doing all the work, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't stepping on any toes before mass converting all your hard work! Danlaycock (talk) 00:57, 13 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello MrBoo! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 18 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. Please note that all biographies of living persons must be sourced. If you were to add reliable, secondary sources to these articles, it would greatly help us with the current 318 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Sanderson family requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. Corvus cornixtalk 01:45, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi MrBoo, just wanted to let you know that I saw that you created the new article 2012 Calgary Roughnecks season--The headings and sections seem appropriate. It would be great if you could also add references to the related article Lewis Ratcliff.

I'm kind of new here myself but let me know if there is any way I can help. Thanks, Jipinghe (talk) 21:36, 18 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia policy allows us to link to legal streamed copies of albums. It would be useful to draw up a guideline on how and when to link to such albums; however, there is concern that it may not be appropriate as the music would not be available in all parts of the world. Is the benefit of having access to the music for most users outweighed by the fact that some users will follow a link to find the music is not playable in their region? Your view would be helpful at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums. SilkTork ✔Tea time 02:26, 16 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have decided to put on a mini-contest within the November 2013 monthly disambiguation contest, on Saturday, November 23 (UTC). I will personally give a $20 Amazon.com gift card to the disambiguator who fixes the most links on that server-day (see the project page for details on scoring points). Since we are not geared up to do an automated count for that day, at 00:00, 23 November 2013 (UTC) (which is 7:00 PM on November 22, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the project page leaderboard. I will presume that anyone who is not already listed on the leaderboard has precisely nine edits. At 01:00, 24 November 2013 (UTC) (8:00 PM on November 23, EST), I'll take a screenshot of the leaderboard at that time (the extra hour is to give the board time to update), and I will determine from that who our winner is. I will credit links fixed by turning a WP:DABCONCEPT page into an article, but you'll have to let me know me that you did so. Here's to a fun contest. Note that according to the Daily Disambig, we currently have under 256,000 disambiguation links to be fixed. If everyone in the disambiguation link fixers category were to fix 500 links, we would have them all done - so aim high! Cheers! bd2412 T 03:03, 18 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

2020 NLL season moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 2020 NLL season, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. A tag has been placed on Category:2020 in lacrosse requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion".
