Merry Christmas

[edit]

--Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 13:01, 25 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Felidae 1st sentence

[edit]

Hi Serendipolous. I read your accompanying page and like your attitude. Question: do you feel strongly that the taxonomic order of Felidae (Carnivora) belongs in the first sentence? Although accurate, it doesn't seem necessary to me in order to explain the subject of the article. Regards, IiKkEe (talk) 22:22, 20 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

No problem, the report is not my first time taking over responsibilities because no one else does so. You wrote over 100 reports, so I know you must've felt even worse. It's just that it wasn't like this, for some stretches OZOO and Stormy clouds were doing it all, and last year there had enough collaborators for nine people commenting on the yearly report's entries. Hope the guys get more free time, or just get more interested in the list's subjects to volunteer. (after all, Game of Thrones and Avengers season is coming) igordebraga 03:28, 12 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

At least on a military level. The ignorant right put this guy in a position of power, and now basically every day there's something cringeworthy being said or done. I already was against Trump, and seeing my country with a proxy is not helping. igordebraga 15:14, 13 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You can finish it if you like. I tagged many people just to see if everyone collaborated and got it done sooner. Put up a few entries, just in case. igordebraga 15:46, 20 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

FA Review for Ceres

[edit]

I have nominated Ceres (dwarf planet) for a featured article review here. Please join the discussion on whether this article meets featured article criteria. Articles are typically reviewed for two weeks. If substantial concerns are not addressed during the review period, the article will be moved to the Featured Article Removal Candidates list for a further period, where editors may declare "Keep" or "Delist" the article's featured status. The instructions for the review process are here. 20:18, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Wikipedia:Top 25 Report; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. MPS1992 (talk) 19:20, 4 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

question on resonant orbits

[edit]

Hi Serendipodous,

A question, if you don't mind. How can Pluto and Orcus have different orbital periods if they're both in 2:3 resonance with Neptune? I seem to be missing something. — kwami (talk) 09:08, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, thanks. So the orbital periods that the MPC etc. give are instantaneous calcs for the current orbit, rather than the long term?

Do you know of a RS for which bodies are in resonance with Neptune? We have some contradictions between our articles (e.g. whether Salacia and MS4 are in 5:3 res), and the sources we had at the resonance article didn't actually provide that info. (I replaced it w 'cn', but please revert me if the info is there and I just didn't recognize it.) — kwami (talk) 18:37, 13 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Serendipodous

Thank you for creating Hypothetical black hole.

User:Lithopsian, while examining this page as a part of our page curation process, had the following comments:

I've converted your new article to a dab page, since it was just a list of wikilinks to articles that may be the intended target of this article's title. The alternative is probably submitting it for deletion. I have unreviewed it so that it will be looked at by another curator in its new guise.

To reply, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Lithopsian}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ .

When adding links to material on external sites, as you did to Talk:Timeline of the far future, please ensure that the external site is not violating the creator's copyright. Linking to websites that display copyrighted works is acceptable as long as the website's operator has created or licensed the work. Knowingly directing others to a site that violates copyright may be considered contributory infringement. This is particularly relevant when linking to sites such as YouTube or Sci-Hub, where due care should be taken to avoid linking to material that violates its creator's copyright. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you believe the linked site is not violating copyright with respect to the material, then you should do one of the following:

  • If the linked site is the copyright holder, leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page;
  • If a note on the linked site credibly claims permission to host the material, or a note on the copyright holder's site grants such permission, leave a note on the article Talk page with a link to where we can find that note;
  • If you are the copyright holder or the external site administrator, adjust the linked site to indicate permission as above and leave a note on the article Talk page;

If the material is available on a different site that satisfies one of the above conditions, link to that site instead. –Deacon Vorbis (carbon • videos) 18:05, 28 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Eris (dwarf planet) scheduled for TFA

[edit]

This is to let you know that the Eris (dwarf planet) article has been scheduled as today's featured article for July 29, 2020. Please check the article needs no amendments. If you're interested in editing the main page text, you're welcome to do so at Wikipedia:Today's featured article/July 29, 2020, but note that a coordinator will trim the lead to around 1000 characters anyway, so you aren't obliged to do so.

For Featured Articles promoted recently, there will be an existing blurb linked from the FAC talk page, which is likely to be transferred to the TFA page by a coordinator at some point.

We suggest that you watchlist Wikipedia:Main Page/Errors from the day before this appears on Main Page. Thanks! Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:47, 18 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
