College Days moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, College Days, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ~Amkgp 19:53, 14 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Shammi Thilakan.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/Shammy-Thilakan. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Allu Arjun.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. DMacks (talk) 17:24, 12 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced "starring" credit

[edit]

Re: this, I don't know what criteria you are using to populate the infobox's |starring= parameter, but "starring" does not mean "appearing in". This is a special credit that typically indicates the person or people who are most important in the film, as determined by the producers. I only see one name on the film poster, which is typically where we derive the starring credits, so I'm unclear why you would populate that parameter with five other names, unless you were somehow confused by what "starring" means. You should probably familiarise yourself with the Template:Infobox film instructions, lest you inadvertently add incorrect content again. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:47, 23 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Starring"

[edit]

Re: this, I'm not sure what you think "starring" means, but it is not interchangeable with "appearing in". So when you add content to the lede that suggests that Siddique (for example) is a supporting cast member, there would be no justification to add his name to the |starring= parameter of the infobox, beacuse a "star" is not a supporting cast member. A film's "stars" are typically the most important people in the film, i.e. the leads. And related to that, when you say that a film "stars Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran", you don't then need to say "in lead roles", because that's what "stars" is generally understood to mean. Please avoid this needlessly repetitive language in the future.

Also, another editor has objected to the image you chose, describing it as a fan poster. Unless you have some evidence that File:Pokkiri_Raja_film.jpg is a legitimate poster issued by the production company, we shouldn't be using that. Please feel free to explain at Talk:Pokkiri Raja (2010 film). Thank you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 14:47, 12 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Arbitrary cast reordering

[edit]

Please don't arbitrarily reorder cast as you did here. This tends to look like you're entertaining some personal preference, like that you favour one actor over another. Please stop arbitrarily reordering cast

[edit]

Hi there, again, please stop arbitrarily reorganising cast as you've done here, and please start using edit summaries. See WP:FILMCAST, and Template:Infobox film instructions as well, please. If you continue to make these problematic edits with no clear rationale, your editing privileges are likely to be interrupted. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 22:11, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Despite the warning above, you've continued to perform such re-orderings without a citation to support them, as you did at Twenty:20 (film). This sort of editing is disruptive and needs to stop. Now. --Hammersoft (talk) 16:36, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to drafts

[edit]

Information icon Please do not introduce links in actual articles to draft articles, as you did to Gauthamante Radham. Since a draft is not yet ready for the main article space, it is not in shape for ordinary readers, and links from articles should not go to a draft. Such links are contrary to the Manual of Style. An edit has converted these links, into links to the not-currently-existing page (redlinks) where the draft will be placed if it is eventually accepted. Thus the links will automatically become valid links aimed at the correct target when and if the draft is accepted. In particular, when such links are removed, please do not revert them back into an article. Thank you. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 15:08, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In these recent edits you have reinstated links to drafts, in spite of the request and warning above. Why did you do this? Please understand that this constitutes Disruptive editing, and can lead to a suspension of editing privileges. Please respond to this message. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 17:31, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Warning icon Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Gauthamante Radham, you may be blocked from editing.
You have been repeatedly warned not to add links to draft articles, so please stop - Arjayay (talk) 17:55, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Stop icon

Your recent editing history at ‎Gauthamante Radham shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. - Arjayay (talk) 17:55, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

College Days

[edit]

Please stop recreating this article in mainspace. To date this article has;

  • Been moved to draft space twice for lack of appropriate sourcing.
  • Been deleted via Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/College Days.
  • Been tagged in draftspace as not sufficiently notable for an article on Wikipedia [1].
  • Been declined three times in draftspace as having insufficient sourcing or notability [2][3][4].

I have now moved this article to your sandbox at User:Vaishnav bk/sandbox. Do NOT move it into mainspace again unless you can find reliable, secondary sources that support its notability. What you have found so far are some bad links and a couple of reviews. That is very far from sufficient to support notability of this film. Please see Wikipedia:Notability (films), in particular WP:NFO. If you have questions, let me know. Continuing as you have been, in now a months long attempt at forcing this article to exist in mainspace, is a non-starter and will not succeed in what you want. Work with us, not against us. I note that in addition to disruptively reordering cast lists, it appears that you have been attempting to do similar with your movie poster uploads. Unless there is some verifiable reason to replace a movie poster with a new one (such as the poster doesn't represent the movie in question), this behavior needs to stop. If you change the poster, what's to stop anyone else from changing it, then someone else changing it, over and over and over again. I'm well aware that movie posters for a given movie can change depending on the locale of release. In no way does it help to keep changing the poster. One is enough. This needs to stop. If you have questions, let me know. Thanks, --Hammersoft (talk) 21:05, 25 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Continued changes to cast orders

[edit]

Vaishnav bk, as you did on Lucifer (film), you are once again changing who is a lead/supporting actor as you did here. This, combined with a pattern of attempting to shift who is listed first in cast order, and attempting to replace movie posters with your preferred version is showing a disruptive pattern. We depend upon reliable, secondary sources to support content and changes to that content. You keep making these changes without ever citing such sources for the changes. This needs to stop. Please stop making such changes without providing reliable, secondary sources to support them. If you persist in doing this, there's a fair chance you will be blocked from editing for disruption. It would help if you would engage in more discussion with us than this single talk page comment you have made on one article where you attempted such changes. Continuing as you have been is not the way forward. Please work with us, not against us. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 17:28, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Vaishnav, why do you keep making these arbitrary changes? I've already asked you about this at Talk:Lucifer (film) and your answer seemed entirely interpretive to me, and you didn't have an answer to my follow-up question. Thus, when I see a change like this how do I know that you're following any clear community editing standard, vs. just picking the actors you think are the most important? Like here too. I mean you must know that any change of ordering between Mohanlal and Mammootty would be controversial, right? Where is this order coming from? Your personal interpretation? This is an issue that has a big pain in the arse for many years here. You can't just change the status quo like that. Also, why do you keep changing film posters? What's so much better about this poster than File:Mallusingh.jpg? The difference is lost on me. You have to also realise that this is a community editing project, and everybody's edits are subject to scrutiny, including mine. If you are neither willing to explain your edits in discussion or to include coherent edit summaries that provide justification for the changes you make, and if you also don't appear to be following community guidelines like MOS:FILM, then you may very quickly wind up unwelcome to edit here. And yet STILL you insist on changing cast order without providing a reliable cite [5]. We've made multiple attempts at communicating with you, all to no avail. I am placing a final warning below. If you do this again, I will request you be blocked from editing. --Hammersoft (talk) 22:06, 26 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon
You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for persistently making disruptive edits.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:46, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You don't seem to care about participating here as a member of a community. Many of your changes have been pretty arbitrary, and some have been arbitrary and potentially controversial, and others have been arbitrary with questions about copyright status. So, since you don't seem to want to discuss, your editing privileges have been interrupted until you're ready to address these issues. You will need to convince a reviewing administrator that you understand what the community's goals are, what collaboration means, what proper sourcing is, etc. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 00:49, 27 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
