Farm to Market Road 1517 (FM 1517) is a farm-to-market road in Bexar County, Texas.[1] It is known locally as Eckhert Road.

Route description[edit]

The western terminus of FM 1517 is at an intersection with SH 16 (Bandera Road) in San Antonio, at the northern city limits of Leon Valley. The route travels along Eckhert Road in a northeasterly direction, passing John Marshall High School before turning due east and ending at an intersection with Huebner Road. While the Eckhert Road name extends beyond both given termini, only the indicated portion is designated FM 1517.[1][3]

History[edit]

The current routing of FM 1517 was designated in 1949.[1] It was redesignated as Urban Road 1517 in 1995; however, as with other urban roads, TxDOT continues to sign the route with the farm-to-market route marker.[2]
