Copyedit

I'm not a great copyeditor, but I am a native English speaker, and I can usually get my articles through FAC. leave it with me, and I'll see what I can do in the next few days Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:46, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

I've made these changes to the lead so far, please check. There are a couple of points I don't understand

  • The work started in 1901 and finished ten years later, after its groundbreaking five years earlier. — so did work start in 1901 r 1906?
  • the cathedral was consecrated as a chapel for the Polish parish the same year. — What Polish parish, we're in Russia?
  • members of an institute, who resided there since 1956 — what institute?

I recently did a church FA, St Nicholas, Blakeney. You might want to have a look at that, and at the associated FAC archive to see if there were any comments relevant to yours. Jimfbleak - talk to me? 12:28, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

For convenience, why don't we put future comments here? Jimfbleak - talk to me? 15:05, 29 December 2011 (UTC)

Copy-edit for Charlie Patton

I'm working on it, but the prose is very difficult to understand in places. I've posted some questions and concerns here. I'll be back in a few hours to resume working on it. I hope you'll find the time to answer some questions in the meantime. Thanks, Zoë Alkaia 21:40, 30 December 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2012 WikiCup

Hello, and welcome to the 2012 WikiCup! The competition officially begins at the start of 2012 (UTC) after which time you may begin to claim points. Your submission page, where you must note any content for which you wish to claim points, can be found here, and formatting instructions can be found in hidden comments on the page. A bot will then update the main table, which can be seen on the WikiCup page. The full rules for what will and will not be awarded points can be found at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. There's also a section on that page listing the changes that have been made to the rules this year, so that experienced participants can get up-to-date in a few seconds. One point of which we must remind everyone; you may only claim points for content upon which you have done significant work, and which you have nominated, in 2012. For instance, articles written or good article reviews started in 2011 are not eligible for points.

This round will last until late February, and signups will remain open until the middle of February. If you know of anyone who may like to take part, please let them know about the comeptition; the more the merrier! At the end of this round, the top 64 scorers will progress to the next round, where their scores will reset, and they will be split into pools. Note that, by default, you have been added to our newsletter list; we will be in contact at the end of every month with news. You're welcome to remove yourself from this list if you do not wish to hear from us. Conversely, those interested in following the competition are more than welcome to add themselves to the list. Please direct any questions towards the judges, or on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! J Milburn (talk) and The ed17 (talk) 17:53, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

C&P move

hello,

could you perform a cut & paste move at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary (Moscow)? Thanks.--♫GoP♫TCN 13:23, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

I moved the page. There was no restriction on the move, you could have done it yourself by using the "move" tab at the top of the page. SilkTork ✔Tea time 22:39, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

16:45, 8 December 2011‎ to 12:26, 3 January 2012? Yes, that is possible. Gulp! I hate history merges. But the more I do the more confident I will become. SilkTork ✔Tea time 15:34, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
You will lose the current translation. If you want that, I suggest you do a copy and paste before I delete User:GreatOrangePumpkin/Sandbox13. SilkTork ✔Tea time 15:43, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

OK. Done. I actually did it the wrong way round so I had to manually delete the wrong edits. It's a learning curve! I put back the last edit on your sandbox page, so you have the text (most of which is commented out, but it's there if you go to edit). Let me know if it all looks as it should. I'm a bit annoyed at the manual deletes. Hope to do it better next time. SilkTork ✔Tea time 17:41, 4 January 2012 (UTC)

I took a pass through. In addition to my copyedits, I had a fair number of hidden comments, which should be acted upon by people more knowledgeable than me about church affairs. If I wasn't clear, ask me questions. Once those things are done, let me know, and I'll copyedit again.

A barnstar for you!
