TOR block of 80.190.250.83
Hey, I noticed that you've blocked 80.190.250.83, as a TOR node, which, it is no longer. I was wondering, if you'd consider either allowing me to unblock it, or, unblocking it yourself please. SQLQuery me! 20:50, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
Jesus College, Oxford
Glad to see I'm not the only admin who went to the right place for an education! If you ever spot anyone missing from the pages I've worked on most, List of alumni of Jesus College, Oxford or List of Fellows and Principals of Jesus College, Oxford, please improve them. Confirmation of my identity for SUL
This is confirmation of my identity for SUL. I would like to usurp the user name Rje on Danish wiki. Rje (talk) 02:50, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
He was asked, and he specifically does not want it closed. Friday (talk) 19:21, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
Please re-consider. That RFA was only up for 90 minutes. I also support what Friday said. JeanLatore (talk) 19:27, 28 June 2008 (UTC)
-en-admins access
Your -en-admins access is all set up. As you don't have a cloak, you can't be set to be auto-invited, so you'll have to use ChanServ to invite yourself to the channel. The command is /msg ChanServ invite #wikipedia-en-admins . You can holler on my talk page or in private message if you have any troubles. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 03:08, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

RFA thank-you
Thank-you for your support of me at my recent RFA, which was successful. I have appreciated everyone's comments and encouragement there. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:44, 29 July 2008 (UTC)
RfB Thank You spam
Thank you for participating in my RfB! I am very grateful for the confidence of the community shown at my RfB, which passed by a count of 154/7/2 (95.65%). I have read every word of the RfB and taken it all to heart. I truly appreciate everyone's input: supports, opposes, neutrals, and comments. Of course, I plan to conduct my cratship in service of the community. If you have any advice, questions, concerns, or need help, please let me know. Again, Thanks! — Rlevse • Talk • 08:48, 29 July 2008 (UTC) | |
Hans Krása
The composer's Talk page indicates that you translated the German Wikipedia article to create this one. My query is about the German cultural institutions in pre-WWII Prague with which the composer was affiliated:
- German Music Academy
- Neuen Deutschen Theater (spelling corrected per the German article)
- Deutsches Landestheater
Unfortunately, there's no page in the Czech Wikipedia. From the Slovakian Wikipedia page, I gather that the names would have originally been in Czech. As I read neither Czech nor German, I'm seeking help identifying these, with their actual names and in English-language translation (and ideally with internal links). -- Thanks, Deborahjay (talk) 07:47, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
Update: Thanks so much for your input! I've linked to that response in the Ref Desk discussion, from which I'll synopsize information to improve the page. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 17:27, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Your concern over my unrevealed past is legit; I could be anyone. I'm not some legendary villain - but there's no way you can know that if I don't open up more, is there? I would never act unilaterally — I'm a hardcore consensus kind of guy who believes in WP:C on personal ideological principle — but I do tend to use everything as a soapbox. Heck, I use my own feet as a soapbox just about 24/7. I appreciate your considered response to my nom and look forward to working with you in the future. Many thanks!
Thank you...
...for participating in my RfA, which closed with 119 in support, 4 neutral and 5 opposes. I'm honestly overwhelmed at the level of support that I've received from the community, and will do my best to maintain the trust placed in me. I 'm also thankful to those who opposed or expressed a neutral position, for providing clear rationales and superb feedback for me to build on. I've set up a space for you to provide any further feedback or thoughts, should you feel inclined to. However you voted, thanks for taking the time out to contribute to the process, it's much appreciated. Kind regards, Gazimoff 21:38, 4 August 2008 (UTC) |
Regarding Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Omar 'OJ' Koroma, No one has said he might. Saying he will does not violate WP:CRYSTAL. Please don't mispresent the policy - it doesn't help the process. Nfitz (talk) 23:03, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
- Per WP:CRYSTAL, I believe that one can say that the 2008 Olympics will take place or that High School Musical 3 will be released. Signing a player, and especially a young player, on loan does not necessarily guarantee that he will play. It is clear that I have a strict interpretation of "Avoid predicted sports team line-ups, which are inherently unverifiable and speculative." and you do not. I am disagreeing with you, but I think both of our interpretations are entirely legitimate. Like many Wikipedia policies - although perhaps not WP:ATHLETE, which I feel the article does not meet - there is plenty of room for plurality of interpretation. Rje (talk) 00:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I certainly agree about signing a player, etc. But when you are only a couple of weeks from the beginning of the season, the first team is clearly in evidence from the pre-season friendlies, and we have players showing up in every game, that the event of them playing is likely enough that, while I'm not about to start creating articles, that we would be better served not trying to AfD them for a couple of weeks. We had one last week, where the AfD was ongoing, the first game of the season came and went, there were media reports that the player in question was pulled from the starting line-up at the last minute because of immigration issues that would be cleared up in a couple of days, and we still had people shouting WP:CRYSTAL. Nfitz (talk) 06:01, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- I do actually have some sympathy with your argument, which is why I didn't mention CRYSTAL in my initial statement. My problem is that WP:ATHLETE is clear and succinct - you are notable if you play - whereas entering the realm of the hypothetical is not. Even though there is legitimate reason to think that this player will play at some point - although I would hesitate to suggest that it is a certainty, because nothing in football is - I really don't like the grey area that it would introduce into these discussions. It is much easier to talk about whether a player has played or not than it is to come to a decision about the likelihood of him playing or not. CRYSTAL is a clumsy weapon to be sure, but it is much easier than having irresolvable, hypothetical arguments. Rje (talk) 16:30, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
- Which all sounds great - but here we are as the season starts, trying to wholesale delete articles, many of which will have to resurrected shortly. I've only been flagging a few where notability seems inevitable, with numerous first team appearances during the final pre-season games. It just seems we should be doing something else other than deleting these at this time. Perhaps a list somewhere, where they get deleted at some future date if nothing happens. Nfitz (talk) 22:33, 6 August 2008 (UTC)
Thankyou
Just a little note to say thankyou for participating in my successful RFA candidacy, which passed with 96 supports, 0 opposes, and 1 neutral. I am pleasantly taken aback by the amount of support for me to contribute in an administrative role and look forward to demonstrating that such faith is well placed. Regards, WilliamH (talk) 09:17, 12 August 2008 (UTC)

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice
Hi,
As a regularly contributing UK Wikipedian, we were wondering if you wanted to contribute to the Oxford bid to host the 2010 Wikimania conference. Please see here for details of how to get involved, we need all the help we can get if we are to put in a compelling bid.
We are also in the process of forming a new UK Wikimedia chapter to replace the soon to be folded old one. If you are interested in helping shape our plans, showing your support or becoming a future member or board member, please head over to the Wikimedia UK v2.0 page and let us know. We plan on holding an election in the next month to find the initial board, who will oversee the process of founding the company and accepting membership applications. They will then call an AGM to formally elect a new board who after obtaining charitable status will start the fund raising, promotion and active support for the UK Wikimedian community for which the chapter is being founded.
You may also wish to attend the next London meet-up at which both of these issues will be discussed. If you can't attend this meetup, you may want to watch Wikipedia:Meetup, for updates on future meets.
We look forward to hearing from you soon, and we send our apologies for this automated intrusion onto your talk page!
