The first hour of the episode is spent at a live red carpet event that takes place in Los Angeles hosted by Chris Harrison, unlike previous seasons, the premiere was a live event attended by fans of the show as well as former The Bachelor and The Bachelorette contestants. Then, Chris interviewed seven former contestants, Sean and Catherine Lowe, Marcus Grodd and Lacy Faddoul, Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray, and Nikki Ferrell.

The notable meetings arriving in the mansion are Reegan, a cadaver tissue saleswoman, brought a human heart (although it ended up being fake). Tara came in shorts, flannel, and cowboy boots instead of wearing a cocktail dress, to show Chris who she really is. After, she changed into a dress and got back into the limo to reintroduce herself. Amanda gives the limo driver a note to give to Chris, telling him to close his eyes and turn around. She does not give her name, telling him instead that he deserves a secret admirer.

At 15 women, Chris goes inside the house to have talk with them. While everyone is excited to see him, they are confused at the lack of women. Chris Harrison called Chris out to see the next limo coming as the women are all surprised when 10 other women get out of limos. Nicole shows up wearing a pig nose, Tandra rides up on a motorcycle, and Carly holds a little karaoke and sings a song for Chris (although she is being a cruise ship singer). Surprising everyone, including Chris, an additional five women were chosen, making 30 women.

Kaitlyn the dance instructor, teaches Chris for a dance moves, Ashley S. feels a bit secret showing up an onion and rambling out to the other girls, Britt receives the first impression rose.

Rose Ceremony: Kaitlyn is called first. Tara, having had too much to drink, becomes wobbly at the ceremony. At one point, about halfway through the ceremony, Chris hesitates before leaving the room without a word. In the back, Chris is talking to Chris Harrison, telling him that he wanted to pick Tara, but he is unhappy with the way she is acting. He decides to give her a second chance and offers her a rose. At the end, Nicole, Amanda, Kara, Bo, Kimberly, Brittany, Reegan, and Michelle were eliminated. While the women who were chosen were celebrating, Kimberly walks back into the house and steals Chris away for a private moment, one that we don't see until the following episode.

Due to the time required for Chris to meet all 30 women, daylight broke during the rose ceremony. Exit interviews were conducted outside the mansion in the early morning.
