Her keel was laid on 10 July 2015[3] and her name was announced 9 October 2015. It was also announced that she will conjointly carry the Chinese name, 盛世公主号 (Shèngshì Gōngzhǔ Hào, literally Golden age princess), An interpretation selected by Carnival PLC's China employees, which means "Grand World" or "Grand Spirit" princess.[4] She is scheduled to begin operating during the summer of 2017. Her design includes "Movies Under the Stars" (the largest outdoor screen at sea), a multi-level piazza style atrium, glass-floor walkway which extends 8 meters beyond the edge of the ship and cuisine from Italy, France, North and South America, Southeast Asia, Japan and China.[9]

Production

Majestic Princess was built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. She was launched on 8 February 2016.[10] The ship was delivered on 30 March 2017.[11]

The ship cost approx. 760 Million Dollars.[12]

Maiden voyage

Majestic Princess sailed on her maiden voyage to Civitavecchia, Italy on March 31, 2017 from Trieste, Italy to Civitavecchia, Rome, Italy. The ship's godmother is the mother of the ship's captain Dino Sagani, Graziella Sagani.[13]

In July 2017, Yao Ming together with his wife Ye Li officially named ship in Shanghai. [14]
