Request a coach :: Coach status

Quicklinks    (edit)

Thank you for your interest in Wikipedia's admin coaching program. Hopefully you won't have to wait too long! We're in the process of re-organizing at the moment and are starting a new system of requests.

Coaching page management

New requests Are added to the current request list in date order, newest at the end. Coaches will contact people at or near the top of the list, with preference being given to people who meet the guidelines below.
Requests which seem inactive Either no match has been agreed despite several weeks of being posted, or because they are withdrawn by the requester, or non-responsive or withdrawn, and where there is no sign of ongoing activity or interest, are moved periodically to the "older requests" section. This may be done once or twice a month by any editor.

Requests that are have been inactive for 6 months (or whose editor's account has been inactive for 4 months) will be removed from the list. You may not be notified of this - it is your responsibility to visit this page regularly.

Requests which are successfully matched Should be moved to the status. When the coaching effectively ends, please update that page to move the coachee from the Current student to Former student column. A coachee who does not edit for thirty (30) days without informing his coach of a longterm WP:Wikibreak, will be considered retired and moved to the Former student column. This is necessary given the limited number of coachee spots available and the desire to provide as much coaching contact to active users as is reasonably possible.
If you want to remove your request Remove your entry from the current or older list (depending on where it is) - do not renumber any other requests.

Coaches: Responding to a request

If you wish, you may contact a user at or near the top of the list. Leave a message under that person's name here, indicating you have contacted that person. If coaching commences, move that name to "matched requests" and append the details and current date, then update your status.

In general, to help others, please note if you contact a requester (by appending "Contacted - ~~~~ to the line, for example). If there is no response after some time, then note this too, and consider whether the request looks ongoing, or whether to move it to older/inactive requests.

If a requester is missing something off the basic checklist (for example, no edit summaries, or 95% of edits are of one type), then let them know on their talk page, mark the request as responded to with a note as to the comment, and move it to inactive requests for the time being.

Coaching requests

Current requests

New requests should be entered in the following syntax to the bottom of the Current list:

|-
|INDEX NUMBER
|{{UserVP|USERNAME}}
|DATE OF REGISTERING ON THIS LIST
|DATE OF LAST VISIT TO PAGE
|OPTIONAL COMMENT HERE
|{{ecpad|EDITCOUNT}}
|DATE OF FIRST EDIT
|{{MONTHDIFF2|DATE OF FIRST EDIT}} (=number of months as an editor)
|

Requests older than around 6 weeks (before 2024-04-13) without indication of current interest may be moved to "older requests" by any editor. If you are still interested, please append to your request a note that the request is still active and the current date, and move it back to this section in date order.

Please read the basic checklist (above) first, and then if you'd benefit from coaching, add new requests to the end of this section. Older requests - we need to know if you are still interested. If you are update the "date page last visited" box

If someone has proposed a pairing, they will add " (match pending) " in the admin notes box while it is being confirmed.

1 Wildthing61476 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-02 2009-05-13 I first self-nominated myself for adminship in May of 2007. I was declined at the time, and am looking at trying again in the near future. I focus mostly on recent change patrol and vandal editing, but spend a good deal of time reading WP:AN and WP:ANI to get a better idea of the various types of issues handled by the admins here. Update on 2009-05-13: I am still interested in coaching at this time. Template:Ecpad 2006-06-14 216 Match pending.
2 thecurran (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-08-26 2009-06-09 My total SUL editcount is 3,558. I have had user and peer reviews, opened a project template and assessment, and worked on resolution of requested moves and deletions. I am a rollbacker and like ISO standards and translations. Admin tools would help automate that process. They would also help me access WMFoundation to create a Nyoongar WT. Part of the dominant Pama-Nyungan family, it is a huge indigenous Australian language. Embarrassingly, it is the only continent not WMed. I have enWPed for ages and think the admins here do a great job, so I would like to join. Template:Ecpad live 2005-04-29 229
3 XSG (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-09-27 2009-06-25 I'd like to have the tools (and methodology) to remove CSDed and ProDed articles (after careful review, of course). Template:Ecpad 2005-03-31 230
4 Magog the Ogre (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2009-03-02 2009-06-15 I registered on the project for several months back, and I am interested in becoming an administrator eventually. I would like to do everything from block vandalism, delete copyright violations, and work on backlogs that other administrators do not want to touch (such as the sockpuppet backlog, or image deletion backlog). I would like to learn anything I'm not familiar with at the moment, though I have certainly tried to branch out as much as possible during my stint here. My desire is to be the greatest help to the project than I can be.

I do not have a history of edit warring, no blocks, etc.

5 ESanchez013 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-09-23 2009-04-23 I would like to one day become an administrator to help in 3RR violation, persistent vandalism, sock-puppetry, and user-name violations. I patrol RC and NP, and I'm up most of the night doing this. I would like to be coached to tune-up my skills as a contributor to Wikipedia and learn new things. Currently use WP:TW and WP:AWB Template:Ecpad 2008-01-29 196

7 Dictator of all Infernal Proletariat Penguins in the USSR (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2009-04-07 2009-06-22 I am primarily a vandal fighter; but I do occasionaly participate in other areas such as requests for adminship, articles for deletion, admin's noticeboard/incidents and the like. I am quite adept at using semi-automated tools such as WP:HG and I am learning how to use WP:AWB. I don't doubt my knowledge of wikipedia policy or my knowledge of how to inplement it per say, I would just like some formal coaching. If I were to pass a RfA in the future my primary workings would be in WP:AIV, WP:ANI and WP:RFPP. Template:Ecpad + 165 deleted edits 2008-11-22 186
8 Iner22 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2009-04-08 2009-06-15 I usually am found tracking new pages with Twinkle, fighting vandals with Huggle, or posting a Third opinion on conflicts. However, I've found in recent days that I barely know anything about Wikipedia, and I would like to change that. Template:Ecpad + 67 deleted 2007-10-17 199

11 Gaia Octavia Agrippa (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2009-05-04 2009-05-04 I want to become an admin so I can help with deletion, to be able to block vandals and to assist me in my everyday cleanup of wikipedia. I'm a wikignome most of the time, but I have been known to make reasonably large content edits.

I have recently not suceeded in my first RfA. However it was a close loss at; Support: 22, Oppose: 28, and Neutral: 11.

12 Yobmod (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2009-05-06 2009-05-06 After more than a year and 10000 edits, i'm thinking that expanding my involvment would be nice. In addition to creating Good and Featured content, i've contributed to many AfDs (and other XfDs) and WP:FEED and GA and FL/FT reviewing, so adminship seems the logical next step. My article contribs are mostly wikignoming random articles interspersed with bigger projects on science fiction or LGBT articles, and i often hit obstacles that require me finding an admin (eg speedy deleting blatant vandalism, move-backs, closing AfD with merge consensus so i can get on with the merge). Not sure how much coaching i will need, but definitly an indepth look at my contribs and guidance over the next months, leading up to a RfA nomination (i really don't want to do a self-nom if i am unknowingly doing things wrongly. Thanks!) Template:Ecpad 2008-03-28 194

I use Lupin's Anti-vandal tool along with Twinkle, HotCat, Friendy and Furme. Template:Ecpad 2008-02-21 195
15 Giants27 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-12-05 2009-06-14 I have been here since September 2008 and had a RfA a few months ago under my old username and now that I've been here longer and have started to get involved in DYK and trying to create all the redlinks listed here. I targeting a late summer RfA for myself but if I get an admin coach between now and then and they think differently I'll go for that. Thanks! Template:Ecpad 2008-09-13 189
16 siva1979 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2009-05-20 2009-05-20 I took a long wikibreak and I am back now with a couple of edits. I ran for a couple of RFAs in the past but was unsuccessful on all of them. I would like to become an admin one day because I just love editing for Wikipedia. I hope that one of the admins here can coach me to make me a better editor. I am not planning to run for an admin post in the near future until I feel that I am capable of doing a good job. I have already had some guidance from an admin through MSN Messenger, but would like proper coaching. I have been using both this account and User:Voxpuppet (the latter in a parallel second browser, as Firefox doesn't like Twinkle) to fight vandalism using the Recent Changes log and Twinkle with all add-ons and have been contributing slowly but surely. However, the Wikipedia Community is unlikely to have much faith in me, as I have in the past made myself a pain in the proverbial for some of them: I would like to put all that behind me and make myself an invaluable contributor in my own right. I am a Rollback user with Twinkle, Friendly, and VandalProof approval. I try to assist new users in cleaning poorly written articles which have been proposed for deletion and to date I have rescued several of these articles to a good start status. My interest in adminship is to better serve the community's vandalism projects, deletion debates and continue my work to educate new users about how to best participate in Wikipedia. 002,636 (registered)first edit on June 11th, 2007 (registered) January 2007 (unregistered) 2007-06-11 204

Most of my work here at Wikipedia has been towards the WikiProject Medicine, although I’ve contributed to several other WikiProjects and unrelated articles. Other than article creation/editing/reviewing, my work consists of reverting vandalism using several tools, mostly Vandal Fighter and Twinkle (and as such has allowed me to gain experience of using rollbacks). 004,005 2006-06-06 215 Coaching in progress Lankiveil (speak to me) 12:26, 1 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I believe that admins are very trigger happy to delete pages and block users. With my new found powers of undelete and unblock I would be able to help new users learn the basics. I know, I've been registered since January 2008 and I have a block in my block log, but I've also written an FA- Lazare Ponticelli- and a couple of DYKs. 003,539 2008-01-03 197
10 Fusionmix (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-03 2008-05-02 I joined Wikipedia almost two years ago, but really have only been active since November 2007. Since then, I've largely familiarized myself with terminology and policies. I do quite a bit of vandal-patrolling, though lately I've tried to focus more on mainspace contributing (media-related), project work (like the WP:MILHIST T&A drive), and communicating with other editors (something I've always considered myself weak in). I'd like to get more experience in the ways of CSD and AFD, however, as I often hesitate in those areas due to fear of mistakes. Though adminship would be something I'd be willing to consider sometime in the far future, I currently would like admin coaching more to gain general experience in dealing with difficult situations. 005,000+ edits as of this post 2006-07-30 214

I have been editing on Wikipedia for over 3 years. I was content with being a confirmed user, but I have recently seen a need for adminship as I will be able to do more at Wikipedia. I also know that I would expand into other areas of adminship as a natural process of my curiosity. I'm particularly good at keeping a cool head in hot situations and while responding to personal attacks. Recently I've been put in several situations where I've acted as a mediator, and found I particularly enjoy brokering consensus. I'm not totally convinced I'm admin material mainly because I'm a content person, but I seem to be doing more work along those lines recently, and would like to prepare myself if I eventually decide it would be a good idea. 2008-04-28 2008-07-11 I have always wanted to be an admin, but I think that learning from an experienced one will help me be ready for the job faster. I am a frequent editor to articles under the scope of WikiProject Volcanoes, WikiProject Solar System, and various others. I co-founded WikiProject Swimming as well. I don't think I am anywhere near adminship, but some help would be great. I also founded WikiProject Earthquakes, which is doing great with six featured articles added to the scope already. I work very hard and am a very strong WikiElf. I deal with things at RfA every once in a while, but frequently I work at Newpages and Recent changes patrol. I'm pretty familiar with the guidelines, i guess. I work so much behind the scenes here; doing work at Special:Unusedimages, Special:Random, and other things that get you unnoticed. 26 EricV89 (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-07-31 2008-07-31 I have been very active in vandalism fighting, new page patrolling, account creation and weighing in AfD and IfD discussions. Earlier this year I recently applied for adminship but I withdrew my nom. over experience. I do frequently use Huggle but I am now looking into more activity both on a community and official level so I can re-apply at the end of this year or perhaps beginning of next. I pretty much understand most of Wikipedia's editing guidlines and policies etc., but I would love to be admin coached by an established administator so I can gain even more experience. 007,206 2006-05-21 216

Adminship would just mean being able to do things myself rather than asking someone else to do it for me and am looking for help improving my editing so that I can pass a RfA (I have never yet attempted one yet). I am active on the Commons as well as here, and am active using WP:Huggle, on WP:RFA, WP:CSD, WP:AIV, WP:UAA, WP:ACC, WP:XFD, and T:DYK/N, Just to name a few. 007,129 2008-02-04 196

29 Sorfane (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-08-03 2008-08-10 I've been very interested in Wikipedia since 2005, when I made an account, but was never bold enough to do anything. I then discovered vandal fighting in December last year, and since then have been quite active in that area, mainly using Twinkle and Huggle. I had never really thought of becoming an admin until the last few weeks, where I've become increasingly frustrated at not being able to block obvious vandals while on patrol. I've also been trying to have my say in AFDs and have been nominating some speedies, but I feel that admin coaching would give me greater understanding of the policies of the site. 005,128 edits. 30 Urbanrenewal (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-08-14 2008-08-14 I am principally interested in creating and improving articles and have been active in several existing WikiProjects and started a new WikiProject Task Force. More recently I have found certain limitations where the admin tools would be useful. Generally I think I have a pretty good record as an editor and think I would be respectful of the position. Nevertheless, I have really only been active for the last few months. I would prefer not to put my name forward before I am ready and would like to get some feedback with respect to WP:RfA.
  • Would I would have a legitimate candidacy?
  • How do I best approach WP:RfA?
  • What steps I should take before making a request?

If I'd ever get the tools I'd like to participate in many aspects of admin work; deletion, protection, blocks, closing AfD's, helping out users at WP:ANI etc. I'd like to get proper training and eventually apply at WP:RfA, in the past few months I've learned a lot about Wikipedia and I can confidently say that I would be a responsible admin even though I'd understand if I didn't get the tools. In the past I have contributed to main space (active member of WP:WikiProject Czech Republic), participated in AfD and SD tagging of pages and have also reviewed GAs and FAs.The Dominator (talk) 00:01, 10 April 2008 (UTC)[reply] Template:Ecpad May 14 2007 first edit, but only started actively contributing December 2007 2007-05-14 205 Match pending.
88 PCHS-NJROTC (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-15 2008-04-15 I am a somewhat established editor/vandal fighter here, and I've been interested in adminship for quite some time. I haven't even thought WP:RfA in several months, however. I had an admin coach before, but while it started off well, I think my admin coach went on an unannounced Wikibreak and forgot about me. I'm mostly interested in WP:AIV, while handling requests for unblock, WP:UAA, and handling WP:CSD issues (particlularly the Gs, clear cases with the As, the Fs, and the Us). 89 BigHairRef (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-07-02 2009-03-20 I've been around WP for quite a while now, and more recently when I managed to build up a respectable edit count I managed to get access to anti-vandal tools originally in the form of VP but since that stopped working recently, I have switched to Huggle. I feel that I've made if not significant, then at least some substantial inroads in to vandal fighting where I would see myself as being the most active if ever being sysopped. I am reasonably familiar with some of the main policies such as WP:N, WP:NPOV, WP:NOR, WP:BLP, WP:V, WP:VANDAL, and less vital, but still important ones such as, WP:CIVIL,WP:AGF , WP:3RR, WP:DELETE, WP:U and WP:NOT. I think most of the good work I have done has been either in speedy tagging or vandal fighting and reports to WP:AIV although I have made contributions to WP:AFD and some other XfD in the past and at least a year ago to WP:GAC reviews. I'm hoping to learn the various ins and outs of being an admin beyond what I know, both to improve my editing now, and to become a sysop looking forwards. 90 Iceflow (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-08-14 2008-11-03 Considering applying for adminship. One previous failed RfA due to lack of experience. Recently started non-administrative closures at XfD; Currently a Temporary admin on the Tok Pisin wikipedia via Meta Authority. 91 Roux (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-09-21 2008-09-21 I am not seeking RFA at this time, for various reasons. What I am seeking is to close gaps in my knowledge of WP policies. I don't know where the gaps and/or misunderstandings are, which makes self-directed learning difficult, so I'm asking here. I think that a round of admin coaching would better prepare me for constructive contributions to the project, as well as help set me up for success should I ever decide to RFA. Note: I use both Huggle and Twinkle to patrol vandalism, which artificially inflates my edit count. I would estimate that my non-tool edits are in the 2000 range. 92 Undead_warrior (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-04-21 2008-05-26 I've failed 2 RfAs and will try again in June. I do RC patrol, NP patrol, and music related changes. I also do a lot of work on AfD and IfD. Template:Ecpad first edit 17:44, 27 March 2007 (edit count acording to Special:Preferences.) 2007-03-27 206 Match pending.
93 Unisouth (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-05-13 2008-05-13 I have been editing Wikipedia for over two years and during that time I have also been known as Lenny and The Southerner. My favourite contribution is WikiProject London Transport which has now gained over 60 members. I am persistant but understanding. Template:Ecpad 2006-01-30 220 Match pending.

95 JavierMC (talk · contribs · count · block log) 2008-09-22 2009-04-28 I am interested in receiving couching to one day become an administrator. I'm retired and have extra time to devote to helping Wikipedia in any capacity it needs, whether in article creation, improvement or participation in the many housekeeping areas that are suffering from a tremendous backlog. I currently help in vandal control and new page patrolling. I have participated in AfD's and issues at AN/I. I use WP:Huggle, WP:AWB and Wikipedia:NPW tools for housekeeping and patrolling. I'm a rollbacker and help with ACC. Template:Ecpad 2008-08-09 190
