Air India Regional is an Indian airline which was started as a low-cost arm of Indian Airlines as Alliance Air. As part of Indian's merger with Air India, it was renamed Air India Regional.[1] It operates 170 weekly flights to 25 domestic destinations as a subsidiary of Air India.[2]
History

The airline was established on 1 April 1996 and started operations on 21 June 1996. It was wholly owned by Indian. The airline was renamed Air India Regional in the merger between Air India and Indian Airlines.
Destinations
The airline serves Tier II and Tier III cities via the hubs of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Incidents
- On 29 July 1998, 9 people were killed (6 on board and 3 on the ground) when Alliance Air Flight VT-EJW from Kochi to Agatti Aerodrome crashed into the Component Repair Shop (CRS) building in the Naval Aircraft Yard in Kochi in Kerala, India.
- On 17 July 2000, Alliance Air Flight 7412 a Boeing 737-2A8/Adv (registered VT-EGD) crashed near the Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Airport in Bihar, India killing 60 people.
