"Do It Again"
Song

"Do It Again" is a song recorded by American singer Pia Mia featuring Chris Brown and Tyga. It was released as the lead single from her upcoming debut studio album on May 4, 2015 by Interscope Records. It was written by Pia Mia Perez, Jerry Afemata, George Veikoso, Nic Nac, Marc Griffin and Tyga, with a production done by Nic Nac. It heavily samples the chorus of "Let's Do It Again" (2010) by J Boog.

Perez first recorded the song in 2013. She decided to remake J Boog's song "Let's Do It Again" after seeing one of his shows in Guam. Later, during a studio session with Nic Nac, Brown and Tyga heard the track and asked Perez if they could be featured on it. The song received positive reviews from music critics. An accompanying music video was shot at a beach in Malibu. It was released on June 26, 2015.

Background

Pia Mia saw her first concert at age 16 when J Boog performed in Guam. She immediately loved his song "Let's Do It Again" and was inspired to remake the song with a pop spin to it and "pay tribute" to him. She then recorded it later that year in 2013 with producer Nic Nac. A while after the song was complete, Mia was in a studio session with Chris Brown and Tyga when Nac played "Do It Again". Both artists liked the song and asked if they could be on it.[1][2]

Music video

The music video for "Do It Again" was filmed on June 3, 2015 in Malibu, California.[3][4] It was released on June 26, 2015.[5]

The video features Pia Mia, Tyga, and Chris Brown. It opens with Tyga rapping over an ocean cliff, then moves to Mia driving in a white Jeep Wrangler by the coast and later performing a dance routine on the beach. Then Brown sings his verse in a cave before all three artists show up at an outdoor party. Other scenes include Mia rolling in the sand on the beach and walking along the shoreline. The video was directed by Colin Tilley.

Commercial performance

"Do It Again" achieved success in Oceania, reaching No. 5 in Australia and No. 10 in New Zealand. The song also has achieved success in the UK, reaching No. 8 on the UK Singles Charts. It reached No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the week ending on July 18, 2015. The song jumped 9 spots up to No. 77 in the week ending July 25. The song later peaked at number 71 on the Hot 100. The song reached 70 on the Canadian Hot 100[6]
