I just have to say that Ada Lovelace is hot. What does this have to do with the above? Nothing. Which is exactly the same as your progress on it lately. Get to work! :P Ottava Rima (talk) 16:40, 19 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Added some more. Find A Beattie's Representative Poems of William Wordsworth and H. M. Margoliouth's Wordsworth and Coleridge. Ottava Rima (talk) 15:17, 28 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm adding information from four more books, and some scattered pieces, and then I'm done. I'm holding you responsible for summaries and clean up. Okay? Okay. I'm glad we are agreed. :) Ottava Rima (talk) 14:58, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm waiting. :P I need you to write summaries. Or am I doing this all myself? :P Ottava Rima (talk) 02:47, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I finished the last of the critical sections. There is little that can be added, and most doesn't matter. We just need to focus on the short summaries of the poems in a three paragraph type format with a close reading at the beginning. Ottava Rima (talk) 20:44, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I expanded Nebuchadnezzar (Blake) for you, so you can put it up for a DYK. I can add more if necessary. Blake's biography is on my list, after Byron, Keats, Wordsworth, Fielding, Smart, Richardson, Sterne and Burney, of course. Ottava Rima (talk) 03:26, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are you going to list this on the DYK? Ottava Rima (talk) 03:04, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have some more information on The Ghost of a Flea than what I added. However, I wanted to expand some on the one quote that you put in, and put some more background on Blake's vision. I only put a tiny bit, but I thought that was most important before I take a little break. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:26, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Break for food. I added an alt nom at DYK, because your nom was 220 characters. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:37, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I'm creating a page on William Wordsworth's early life in order to create a double nom with it and the Lucy poems. I should have something finished soon. However, if you could perform a plot summary on the Lucy poems, I can move it out to the main area. Ottava Rima (talk) 20:35, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please create a simple summary lead for Matthew (poems). That way, I can add you for a triple nom of Wordsworth's early life, Lucy poems, and Matthew poems. Also, we need some pictures. Ottava Rima (talk) 17:41, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As promised: here. Ottava Rima (talk) 04:20, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have two more sources before I have exhausted both my personal and consortium collections on the Lucy poems. Thus, there shouldn't be any problems if you want to take the page to FA. It really just needs the actual poem sections completed, anglicized completely, and a MoS check. After that, a peer review then an FA nom. I won't participate directly in the FA nom process, but it looks like you could have this all completed by the end of November. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:15, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I formatted some of the ref information for any FAC procedure to run faster. I didn't update all of the OCLC/ISBN information though, but I did update a lot. Some of the tags are missing years. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:41, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The style and the rest is up to you. Any content needed, you can ask. I'll put anything else I find on the talk page for you to use. Good luck. Ottava Rima (talk) 21:46, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Jones book is called The 'Lucy Poems' , which suggests that they are together Lucy Poems, if we want to standardize it. I don't know about the article. We could find out after the DYK goes through, put a message on the talk page suggesting a move to either Lucy Poems or The Lucy Poems, with an equal move for Matthew? Then when people come, they can weigh in. Ottava Rima (talk) 22:33, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Catherine looks to have missed her chance. You'll have to hold off until you can add 20k worth of information before she would be to be DYK'd. Ottava Rima (talk) 23:01, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say it - That picture of Dorothy could convince anyone that Wordsworth wished his sister was dead. ;/ Ottava Rima (talk) 23:43, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The image captions should be limited to one or two lines only. Also, the "needs info" comment was to fill in the image information for Coleridge's picture, i.e. where it came from. Ottava Rima (talk) 00:13, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey...

I had no idea things would get so out of hand the other day. Glad you haven't decided to leave over it, and hope it doesn't dampen your sense of fun - I'd miss that. Kafka Liz (talk) 00:39, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Cats

Hmm, I received a two-disc tribute to The Cure called Perfect as Cats in the mail today. This looks like it might be good. Thankfully no one dares attempt to outdo the Dinosaur Jr cover of "Just Like Heaven", because it is obvious that they would fail. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:51, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bury the hatchet

(copying over) The block was an honest mistake, the unblock note was a pity, and my over reaction was a bigger pity. I have a bad temper, and I flew at you, and yes I did misjudge the timeline. And I apoligise. If you accept this as sincear, I would hope we can let this behind us with no hard feelings and move on. Wikipedia is supposed to be fun, a hobby, but its easy to get mired, burned out and too involvd in detail that at the end of the day just doesn't matter. We both have the best interests of the project at heart, and I realise our squabbling does nothing at all towards that aim. And yes, no I cant spell. Ceoil sláinte 22:44, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I would like nothing more than to wipe any tarnished slate clean and move on. Thanks for your note; I apologize again for causing a mess. Tan | 39 22:47, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Brilliant to see there's no hard feelings over this. – How do you turn this on (talk) 22:54, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Sig

Ouch, that hurts :) Well, I'm sorry, but It doesn't look right without bold, I don't see how it is annoying, I have had this signature and format with my old ones the same way. You mean No Way Out (2004) FAC.--SRX 22:59, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

.. thanks for the kind words. If you want to, you can nom it. It really needs an Africa section, though. I think it will not pass without one. There's already more than a little material on the article's Talk to start one...

Plus other folks need to be consulted.. johnbod certainly! and madman...

This is one case in which I would appreciate a co-nom nod.... The prob with this nom is that it certainly needs at least two co-noms (me and john) and maybe three (madman). It'll be a crowd up there... If you wanna nom it, then you have the privilege of working out the details. ;-)

Later! Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 23:32, 23 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again for the support, every step of the way.... I have a boring meeting to go to. I'll ping the other two and point them to our talk pages.. Later! Ling.Nut (talkWP:3IAR) 01:12, 24 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't "accusing" anyone of anything. Why are you taking this personally? The article was completely unsourced and it read like original research. Those tags aren't "pointless." They let other editors know what work needs to be done and more importantly, they let readers know that an article is not up to standard. All I saw was a deletion of quite useful tags with a flippant edit summary. So I reverted it. Now you've added some sources. The system works. Cheers. freshacconci talktalk 01:30, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You are severly missing the point of a collerabative project. "Accusing" is exactly how thoes tags read; please be more aware of the effect of your actions. Why not add the refs your self instead of tagging and runing. And to remind you, you did say this is origional research, which goes to show how much you know. In my openion thoes tags are a cancer, and extreamly disharntining to the people who write the articles. Cheers. Ceoil sláinte 06:38, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(YO!) Templating the top of an article with "may be O.R." and "may need references" and "may need more references" without discussing these ideas is intellectually feeble. The article "may be" original research?; so may every other. If you can't provide an argument (in terms of knowledge, in terms of time expenditure), then find a different way to contribute to Wikipedia. These templates were meant to be used sparingly for quite unusual cases. Then they somehow turned into the most counterproductive (article-related) hobby on Wikipedia, ever. Above all, using a canned edit summary that says the edit was by a program called "Friendly" is just too fucking much.
Hope you're doing fine Ceoil. You didn't respond to my brief email. I know, I'm community leper now. Erase me message from your page if ye feel dirty. Whiskeydog (talk) 06:52, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I replied last night, Whiskey. Were working on Friedrich at last, about half ways through the bio, dreading the legacy section, as usual, ha ha. How arre things with you? Ceoil sláinte 06:54, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I just checked after I wrote that - replied. Keep up your good works. I can't decide whether you or JanHenrí deserves a barnstar more, and I only have this single one..... Whiskeydog (talk) 07:02, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh you tease. Me! Me! Ceoil sláinte 07:06, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The problem is firefox provides handy buttons so that you can visit a page, scroll in 1-2 seconds, and make a snap jungement, hit 1 button; bam Origional research! And your off to the next article, whith a higher edit count. Jesus Christ. Ceoil sláinte 06:57, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know that I copyedited the article, hopefully addressing your concerns at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/No Depression (album). Cheers, –Juliancolton Tropical Cyclone 02:45, 25 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Portraiture of Elizabeth I

User:Johnbod and I have been expanding Portraiture of Elizabeth I and adding context, background, and transitional material. Still more work to be done (see the talk page!), but I'd appreciate it if you'd keep an eye on it and let us know if anything doesn't make sense or needs explanation. Thanks. - PKM (talk) 18:39, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Meshuggah

Greetings Ceoil! Some time ago you started with the prose check in the article Meshuggah. I am very near to go with the article to FAC and I just wanted to ask you if you could have a look at the rest of the article. The prose-fix is the only and last thing I want to do with this article and I really favour the way you did it. Is it possible that you find some time to finish this issue?--  LYKANTROP  20:59, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ouch, Lykantrop, I forgot! On it now. Ceoil sláinte 21:10, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks you for resuming of your great work and great help!--  LYKANTROP  06:22, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
It will take five days or so, but I would be hopeful for this one. Best of luck. Ceoil sláinte 06:27, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No problem, I will wait for several days until you are done. If you have some questions you can contact me or use the Wikipedia:Peer review/Meshuggah/archive2...--  LYKANTROP  13:16, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ceoil. What about the rest of this article? You've already done more than a half!--  LYKANTROP  10:02, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good day. Thank you for your help and participating! I highly appreciate your contributions, which strongly imroved the quality of the article. I am getting to a time pressure in my real life and I need to figure this issue out (this article). You've copy-edited the whole thing except for the 2nd and 3rd subsections of "Musical style" and the last two short sections. Now I am not sure whether there is nothing more to fix or if you still intend to do it. I really don't like to pester you with telling you to work on it. If the copy-edit is not ready, I would be very glad if you can do it, but I need some information about the situation. Could you tell me how do you see it please? --  LYKANTROP  23:39, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Ceoil. What about this? Would you answer please?--  LYKANTROP  10:25, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

drunken rant: WTF is wrong with your email???

Today, I received an email from you dated October 18. I guarantee you that snail mail from Cork to Brooklyn would have been several times faster. GET GMAIL OR SOMETHING, for Chrissakes!! I love to gossip and backstab offwiki as much as the next guy, but a 12-day delay makes it very difficult.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 03:41, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Might be easier if you put down the pie, leave Brooklyn and join civilisation; instead of just bitching. I relpied, I had though? Anyway here is the jist: while I think you are a "great guy", I'm allready promise to the daughter of a farmer from two villages down. Apparently he has the finest goats in all of cork. Ceoil sláinte 03:46, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Tá grá agam duit sooooooo much!"
Yes, I am eating pie, as matter of fact, and I think you're just jealous. It was a red wine poached pear tart with some sort of almond liqueur and toasted pistachios from Joyce's Bakeshop in Prospect Heights. And it was fantastic. I'd ask where I could get a good pie in Cork, but it probably contains offal or fish or something. Not that there's anything wrong with that. If you no longer wish to marry me, I expect to be compensated for the wasted effort I've expended wooing you, composing Celtic jigs and mixtapes of wry 80s college rock in your honor. One idea: if that goat's as good as you say you it is, I could make you a very flavorful roti from his curried flesh. That's how we roll south of Eastern Parkway. I also enjoy cheese.
Anyhow, I'll give you a buzz if I'm ever in town, and expect you to do the same.--The Fat Man Who Never Came Back (talk) 04:02, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You are not doing a very good job at wooing me I have to say; if that is even your intention. I'm not frigit, but damn it where is the passion? No flowers at all, and I dont ever think I've seen you dance. Turn on the magic man, spin a few old records, dress up and less of the cheap wine, and less of the "I'll give you a buzz if I'm ever in town". Ceoil sláinte 04:14, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I would second this Gmail account. I've been waiting weeks for an email based on one contrib of yours, Ceoil, where you said you'd email a friend with JSTOR access. Well, I thought I was that friend, goddamn it, yet no email ever arrived. You know that my ability to give a JSTOR article to a friend is 2/3 of my Wikipedia self-esteem, and you've hurt it, dude. My father went to Ireland a couple years ago to see the lochs and bagpipes and wear a kilt and try a caber toss and he stayed at one of the castles in Braveheart... not sure which one. Maybe one that Cas mentioned... --JayHenry (talk) 04:45, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Did You Know question

Hi. I've reviewed your DYK submission for the article Jupiter and Thetis (Ingres), and made a comment on it at the submissions page. Please feel free to reply or comment there. Cheers, Art LaPella (talk) 01:40, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My User:Art LaPella/Long hook page explains that your hook is well over the 200 character maximum, and explains why I normally don't suggest shorter versions; my main contribution is basic proofreading. But how about ... that before William Blake painted The Ghost of a Flea, the flea allegedly came at a séance and told him "fleas [are] inhabited by the souls of such men as were by nature blood thirsty to excess"? This cuts the length from 271 characters to 195. Art LaPella (talk) 04:43, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

DYK nomination

Hi. I've nominated Nebuchadnezzar (Blake), an article you worked on, for consideration to appear on the Main Page as part of Wikipedia:Did you know. You can see the hook for the article at Template talk:Did you know#Articles_created.2Fexpanded_on_November_1, where you can improve it if you see fit. --BorgQueen (talk) 05:03, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

New dawn fades

You have a choice: our next project together can be one of the following: Unknown Pleasures, Murmur, or Echo & the Bunnymen. Get back to to me with your choice posthaste. WesleyDodds (talk) 23:04, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You guys missed the boat with Joy Division as the fillum has come and gone, maybe Echo and the Bunnymen are the next big thing (Spare us the cutter...dooo...doo..doooo) Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 03:52, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Dooo..doo...dooooo indeed! I love Murmer, but prefer Reckoning...it has Harborcoat! Ceoil sláinte 05:24, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

bring on the headless horses whereever they may roam
He! When I were a lad, Bring On the Dancing Horses used to give me nightmares. Its so spooky its not funny. I'm listening it now, on my own in the house, and its dark outside; but Im not scared <eek> Ceoil sláinte 05:34, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Never heard that one, E&BM were never that big here in Oz...funny, I was going to make a page of Stipe-wiki, bit like User:Casliber/Flaming_Joel-wiki for the song "End of the world as we know it"...but I didn't, no-one has made any of these ones FAs recently...its like no-one respek's Billy Joel's opinion....not overly enamoured of REM..folksy guitar stuff is what my better half likes along with They Might Be Giants, Offspring, Billy Bragg, Blink 182 etc. where as I like other stuff..she was annoyed when I played Erasure's version of Solsbury Hill up loud...not that she'd ever look here as she hates WP now. Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 05:42, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Without doubt this would have to be favourite song from Oz, even if the vid is a bit tacky. But what do I know, I used to like The church. Ceoil sláinte 05:45, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"Over the Milky Way" is overrated. "Reptile" is ok, though. Pick an article soon. JD554 said he'd be up for working on Unknown Pleasures, if that helps. WesleyDodds (talk) 12:04, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
C'mon, maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan. WesleyDodds (talk) 06:23, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I liked the Church, Trifids were always highly regarded but I never was a huge fan, surprised you haven't mentioned Nick Cave by this stage, an artist of great gravitas worldwide...Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 14:14, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PS: If you did Woodstock Festival, then Billy would be happy and who knows...Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 14:16, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shameless aussie plugging

Of course one band my other half and I did/do agree on is Hunters and Collectors, I saw tthem supporting the Stranglers in 1985. They really know how to make innovative videos on feck all budget --> see The Slab, note this video is one of the weirdest creepiest shamanistic things ever - talking to a Stanger, but best of all was this one - did these guys ever make it over there? Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 08:12, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was planning to link Ceoil to "Throw Your Arms Around Me" at some point. Shame shame. WesleyDodds (talk) 08:57, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Pointless bit of trivia #25 - a slab a melbourne word is a carton contaiing 24 x 375 ml cans of beer, whereas in Sydney we called it a case, but now sometimes a slab as well :) Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 09:33, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The real question is: does everything there look like The Road Warrior yet? I need to plan a vaction soon. WesleyDodds (talk) 10:17, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
erm...The Matrix was filmed in Sydney and was a good chuckle for all us Sydneysiders seeing it in a funny tint of blue to make it look 'different'. Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 10:34, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see that you are listed in the Peer Review as someone interested in cuisine and smoking. I am wondering if you would be interested in participating in a peer review of Bloom Cigar Company at Wikipedia:Peer review/Bloom Cigar Company/archive1?--HoboJones (talk) 05:11, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I have been planning to take So Amazin' to FAC, but it needs a copyedit before I nominate it. The prose is okay, so hopefully it won't be a very demanding task. If you are busy, that's okay, I can wait. Thanks, Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 06:59, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again. You may have missed or forgotten my request above, so I just came here to remind you. A reply would be appreciated. Thanks, Corn.u.co.pia / Disc.us.sion 01:32, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there. I see that you are listed under the arts section on the peer review volunteer page. Is there any chance you could review the Art Deco article? I'd like to list it for GA once I've addressed the article's concerns. Would you be able to help? Elucidate 18:20, 5 November 2008 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Elucidate (talkcontribs)

RE Kate

Sorry- I meant to describe the edit accurately, not offend. I'm glad that Blake's finally getting so much attention- Have at it! Sorry things got so out of hand at Nebuchadnezzar, btw. I'm trying to piece together the quotes OR left into an addition to the article. Just leave his illustrations of Dante to me for now- I've already begun sandboxing it. DYK clarification needed for Jupiter and Thetis (Ingres)

Hello! I have reviewed your submission of Jupiter and Thetis (Ingres) at the Did You Know nominations page. I noticed some issues that need to be clarified, and have left comments for you underneath your nomination's entry. Please respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! —Politizer talk/contribs 03:40, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No problem! I also have a question about the sourcing for the hook, which I just noticed.... In the source cited (Boime 1993:206), it says that Ingres made the painting "to fulfill his annual obligations as a pensioner," whereas the hook you gave says "financial obligations"...are these the same thing? I don't know anything about the French Academy in Rome and how all that works, so I don't know what his "annual obligations as a pensioner" might have been, I just wanted to make sure that the hook is accurate. —Politizer talk/contribs 03:52, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
All I did there was add another copy of the same ref right after the information from the hook, since at the time it wasn't clear if the ref was there to verify the information about the painting's style or the information about Ingres' obligations. I'm still not too clear on what those obligations were and whether or not they were "financial" obligations...just want to make sure the information in the hook is accurate before I mark it. —Politizer talk/contribs 04:01, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure if you noticed, but I have left another comment about your submission at the DYK nominations page. —Politizer talk/contribs 14:10, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

LOL, ty. It doesn't matter. I just thought it would be something not serious to mention. I try to alternate serious with non-serious with you, otherwise, it would make things too complicated and edgy. :P Ottava Rima (talk) 21:13, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

For your vote at Roman Catholic Church. I am sorry to inform you that we failed FAC but will again be at peer review in a few weeks to sort things out. Hopefully we will make it through next time. We will be contacting all supporters and opposers of the article when we open the next peer review to hopefully get all issues addressed and hashed out before the next FAC try.
