Meisnheimer, North Carolina

Meisnheimer is an unicorportated university town. Phieffer University makes up most of Meisenheimer. Also, a charter high school, Gray Stone Day School, exists on the Phieffer campus.

If anyone chooses to take this on, note the correct spellings Misenheimer and Pfeiffer. HorsePunchKid 2005-12-10 00:59:25Z

Vilmarh Grahrk

His broken Basic and devilish smile do little to inspire confidence, but Vilmarh Grahrk is nonetheless a successful and unscrupulous conman working the galaxy's fringe. Villie, as he is called by his acquaintances (the term "friends" doesn't really apply), worked as a grifter in Nar Shaddaa's underbelly for years. He probably hasn't earned an honest credit in his life. Villie partnered with the amnesiatic Jedi Quinlan Vos to help uncover a glitteryll racket that implicated an influential Twi'lek senator. Villie's standard operating practice involved deception and betrayal, but he remained surprisingly loyal to Vos. Despite a sizeable bounty on the Jedi's head, Villie didn't betray him. Instead, he double-crossed the bounty's poster and ended the caper significantly richer.

Villie's chronic gambling usually ate away his ill-got earnings. No matter how much he made, he could soon be found trying out a new scam to fill his coffers. The Devaronian piloted a sleek vessel called the Inferno, with the help of NT, a droid hard-wired into the ship.

A batch reactor is used for small scale operation, for testing new processes that have not been fully developed, for the manufacturer of expensive products and for processes that are difficult to convert to continuous operations. The advantage of batch reactor is high conversion which be obtained by leaving the reactant in the reactor for long periods of time but it also has the disadvantages of high labor costs per batch and the difficulty of large scale production. In a batch reactor, all the reactants are loaded at once, the concentration then varies with time, but at any one time it is uniform throughout. Agitation serves to mix separate feeds initially and to enhance heat transfer. Batch reactors are popular in practice because of their flexibility with respect to reaction time and to the kinds and quantities of reactions that can process. The characteristic of batch reactor such as the total mass of each batch is mixed, each batch is a closed system and the reaction (residence) time t for all elements of fluid is the same.

(from User:218.208.19.2)

I would counter propose merging this, Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor, and Plug flow reactor. back into their parent article Chemical reactor. There isn't enough material in any of these to justify individual articles. Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor also needs its capitalisation fixing. These terms can then exist as redirects to chemical reactor Liike most proposals here, this needs sources to be a valid article. --David Woolley 09:37, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Milton Kessler

Milton Kessler was the inventor of the popular hula hoop in the late 1940's. He was the owner of the company Kessler Plastics located in Youngstown, Ohio. He patented his creation of the closure of the hula hoop, but had no ideas for what this toy could be used for. It was speculated that it could be used as a water toy, but no ideas were good enough. The toy was then put away and not brought to mind for a while after. Famous television host Art Linkletter contacted Kessler a while after with a great new idea for a toy. He called it, the "hula hoop." and described the very creation Kessler had invented before. Linkletter came up with the idea after a visit to Hawaii and seeing the popular "hula dance" be performed. This dance looked as if the performers were trying to balance an invisible hoop around their hips, and thus, the idea for the hula hoop originated.

  • It would appear that Kessler's role in the invention of the hula hoop is disputable. I suggest adding verifiable NPOV content to the Hula hoop article unless there's a lot more to say about Kessler's life and achievements outside of this piece of trivia. For what it's worth, Google seems to indicate that another Milton Kessler, poet and teacher, is more notable than this Kessler, and any new bio page should at least disambiguate. Brotherton, William J.

Texas Lawyer and former railroader. Author of "Burlington Northern Adventures: Railroading in the Days of the Caboose", South Platte Press, 2004

Founded in 1987 and active on the internet since 1998, the Aerican Empire (http://www.aericanempire.com/) is a micronation (see related Wikipedia article), a state or nation which boasts a population and culture but which is unrecognized by the established states of the world. Originally founded as a political exercise by Eric Lis and several young colleagues, the Empire has since grown into a vast and active organization. At its peak, the Empire had over five hundred citizens (none of whom were fictional, unusual for a micronation), but more commonly the Empire's population fluctuates between 40 and 60 active members.

A parliamentary democracy, the Empire is ruled by an elected Emperor and Senate, which is populated by representatives of the Empire's various provinces and colonies. The Senate is re-elected every 4 years, most recently in December 2005.

As with most micronations, the Empire is held together more by culture than politics. Founded on the principles of good-natured chaos and creative freedom, the Empire has traditionally attracted artists, philosophers, writers, and designers as citizens. A 2003 census empirically demonstrated that more than 95% of all Imperial citizens had a greater-than-average famliarity with such cultural icons as Monty Python, Star Wars, and the Hitchiker's Guide to the galaxy, and this mentality is reflected in all aspects of the Empire's activity. A smiley face adorns the national flag and the Emperor's personal coat of arms is adorned with weasels and penguins in place of the more common stags and lions.

In addition to political activity, the Empire is also the center of a small religion (with some 30 practioners worldwide), an active gaming society, a troupe of amateur programmers, and numerous other ventures.

This looks like AFD material to me. I'm not sure if it should be created. --Jaranda wat's sup 19:36, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

AFD material? I'm not familiar with the term. We've just been trying to get a decent article of us posted here for ages; our *old* one, gods know who it was wirtten by, kept adding the word "allegedly" to all the facts. We get about 30 hits/week from the wikipedia: micronations article and it seems to us we should have an entry of our own. [Guest Author, 4:57 pm EST, December 10 2005]

AFD refers to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, which is where we discuss the removal of articles from Wikipedia. What Jaranda meant was that the article, if created, will most likely be deleted anyway. The Aerican Empire simply does not seem notable or large enough to warrant an encyclopedia article of its own, however it may be suitable for mention in the cybernations article. - orioneight (talk) 22:05, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

We're already listed in that article. If one of the kind people with access would consider removing the quote marks from "interplanetary empire" in that article, I'll quite happily let you all delete this one from the "articles to be created" page. We aren't strictly speaking an excercise in personal entertainment, but we're getting enough hits from the page that it hardly seems worth my asking people to put us under a more dinified category. [Guest Author, 5:52 pm EST, December 10 2005]

Edit: Actually, I just removed the quotes myself, so i guess you may as well delete this whole thread now. Thanks for taking the time to explain the process. Now I just have to figure out a way to get all those sites who rip Wiki entries for their own pages to make the change there, too... [Guest Author, 5:55 pm EST, December 10 2005]

Wendy Campbell is a California-based documentary film-maker and writer. She is a human rights activist specializing in the rights of the Palestinian people. She has written many articles on this and related topics which can be found at her website http://www.marwenmedia.com. She is also the director of Americans for Justice in Palestine-Israel. Her work is considered by many to be controversial since she is an advocate of the one-democratic-state solution of Palestine-Israel, whereby all citizens would have completely equal rights regardless of religion, race, ethnicity or gender. She believes this is possible following the example of the transformation of apartheid South Africa to the democratic government of today's South Africa. Campbell is also a supporter of the Palestinian refugees' Right to Return, as completely equal citizens to Israel/Palestine. She is a veteran peace activist, dating back to the anti-war movement during the Viet Nam War. Her documentaries include: "Truth: Exposing Israeli Apartheid" (2003); "Neturei Karta: Jews Against Zionism"(2004); "Rosa Remembers Palestine"(2004); and "Syria: Land of Friendly People and Hidden Treasure" (2004). Wolfgang Treu Mayor of Vienna 1529 / Bürgermeister der Stadt Wien 1529

Wolfgang Treu was the mayor of Vienna Austria during the Turks first siege of Vienna. On September 11th 1529, the Turks took the city of Ofen Hungary. The Turks were stopped at Vienna. The Turks had an army of 300,000.The city was defended by 1,000 city people.(mostly poor, the rich left the city)The battle lasted for three weeks.Suleyman, the Turkish leader decided to retreat considering the approach of winter. The surrounding city was devastated.

Do you have more to say about this person than that he was mayor in 1529? The rest of your paragraph concerns the siege and subsequent battle. Did he lead the battle? Did he run away with the rich people? We need more to work on. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:03, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Superstar Krishna was born on the 31st of May 1943, in a remote village called Burripallem, near Tenali in Guntur district roughly around 12.05 p.m. He was the eldest of the five children -3 boys (G.Hanumantha Rao and G.Adhiseshagiri Rao) and two girls(Aliveelumangamma and Lakshmi)- born to Sri Ghattamaneni Veeraraghavayya Chowdhary and Smt. Ghattamaneni Nagaratnamma.

Krishna's success in life is yet another example of the 'rag to riches' story that we often hear about in our day to day experiences. Coming from a middle income agrarian family, he could not afford to have convent education and hence he had to attend the school in his village to get his primary education before moving to Tenali and Narsapur to do his S.S.C and Intermediate. Delighted by his scholastic achievements, his father Veeraraghavayya garu mobilized the necessary financial resources to send his son to the (then) prestigious C.R.R. college in Eluru so as to enable his eldest son pursue his under graduation (B.Sc). Although there was never a dull moment during his formative years, his stay in Eluru turned out to be seminal as it provided him a vantage point from which he could look at things in order to draw a plan for his career.

Sharing a room with two people whose interests also gravitated towards acting (Shoban Babu and Murali Mohan), Krishna played an active role in various cultural events organized by his college. Though he made his presence felt in all the programs in which he participated, his performance in "Cheesina Paapam Kaasiki Velleena" brought him the needed critical acclaim. It was the success of this play that encouraged him to embrace the acting profession more seriously. Upon completion of his college education, Krishna was married to Smt. Indira Devi on November 1, 1962. Indira Devi has undoubtedly been the bedrock element in Krishna's success always providing him the much needed emotional support during his days of struggle. She also alleviated Krishna's domestic concerns by holding up the family together in his absence and making sure that all her children experience a memorable childhood. Although Krishna married actress Vijaya Nirmala (for reasons best known to him) later on in the year 1969, his second marriage had never impacted the relationship he shared with Smt. Indira Devi and couple continue to enjoy an understanding of the highest order to date.

The year 1965 will always evoke some sweet memories for our Superstar Krishna. This year saw the release of his debut movie "Thene Manasulu"- a movie that he starred in before the making of this movie was released later on and hence "Thene Manasulu" is technically considered as the first movie of SS- which went on to become a great hit in that year enjoying a 100 day run in three centers. On the personal front, Superstar and his wife Indira were blessed with their first child Ramesh Babu. (see the tables below for some more personal details of our Superstar).

Broadbill (AM-58), an Auk class minesweeper, was launched on 21 May 1942 at the Defoe Shipbuilding Company in Bay City, Michigan, sponsored by Mrs. A. Loring Swasey, wife of Captain Swasey. She was commissioned on 13 October 1942, with Lieutenant Commander J. B. Cleland, Jr., in command. After commissioning, she reported at Boston, Massachusetts to the Commander, Service Force, Atlantic Fleet.

Until April 1944, Broadbill escorted convoys between east coast and Gulf coast ports, and made two voyages to the Caribbean. On 11 April 1944, she got underway for England where she conducted numerous practice sweeps in preparation for the Normandy invasion.

On 5 June, Broadbill, as a unit of Mine Squadron 7, in company with 10 other AM's, cleared the approach channel to Utah Beach for fire support ships, and on 6 June, commenced sweeping the actual support area. On 25 June, she helped clear fire support areas off Cherbourg. Operations were continued off England and France until August. She then proceeded to Naples, via Oran, Algeria, and conducted sweeping operations in the Ligurian Sea, Bonifacio Straits, and around Sardinia and Corsica. Completing this assignment, Mine Squadron 7 arrived at Cavalaire Bay in southern France on23 August 1944 to clear French harbors and approaches during the invasion of southern France. On 28 May 1945, Broadbill, in company with Mine Division 21, departed for Norfolk where she underwent repairs until 30 August 1945.

On 17 September 1945, in company with Service Squadron 5, Broadbill got underway for San Pedro, California. She was subsequently ordered to Astoria, Oregon, arriving on 7 December for pre-inactivation overhaul. Broadbill went out of commission in reserve at San Diego on 3 June 1946.

Recommissioned on 19 March 1952, Broadbill operated off the California coast until 27 June 1952. She then sailed to Charleston, South Carolina, arriving there on 15 July. During the remainder of 1952, she operated out of Charleston and conducted one Caribbean training cruise.

In January 1953, she proceeded to the Mediterranean for a cruise with the 6th Fleet, returning to Charleston on 21 May 1953. She conducted routine operations off the Atlantic coast until August, when she reported for inactivation overhaul. Broadbill was placed out of commission in reserve on 25 January 1954, berthed at Orange, Texas. She was reclassified MSF-58 on 7 February 1955.

Broadbill was struck from the Navy list on 1 July 1972, and disposed of by Navy sale on 1 December 1973.

Saraneth

Saraneth is a character from Garth Nix's Old Kingdom Trilogy.

Saraneth the Binder

The sixth of seven bells used by practioners of necromancy: necromancers. A bell with a deep, commanding tone, Saraneth binds the Dead to the necromancer's will. This bell is the favorite of the Abhorsens (a line of necromancers who bind rather than raise the dead). Rung discordantly, the bell can also make the ringer's mind wander.

Haaro Ruuk

Haaro Ruuk was a Neimoidian in service to the Trade Federation around 22 B.B.Y., who invented a chemical weapon called Trihexalon, or "Dragon's Breath", for Captain Cavik Toth of the mercenary Saboath Fleet, who was in service to Count Dooku at the time. They were experimenting with the weapon, which was to be used by the Seperatist's droid army. Ruuk had a base on Maramere, where he used a submarine to fight the pirate Nym shortly before the Battle of Geonosis. He was defeated, but managed to reach the escape pod before the submarine exploded. He went to his ship in orbit above the planet, where he met with Captain Toth. Ruuk introduced the Trihexalon to Toth, who was angered that he had only produced a third of the requested order. Toth killed Ruuk and his subordinates with a sample of the weapon, then took over the project.

Could you give some context to this, perhaps? Is this related to Ssi-Ruuk or the Star Wars fictional universe? - orioneight (talk) 22:26, 10 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Who Loves You its a 1975 album by The Four Seasons. This album help introduced the new Four Seasons: John Paiva (guitar), Don Ciccone (bass), Lee Shapiro (keyboards) and Gerry Polci (drums). Over them, Frankie Valli sang lead vocal, backed by two former Seasons, Bob Gaudio and Joe Long.

From the "Who Loves You" album came "December 1963" (Oh What A Night), a song that broke around Christmas 1975 and spent six months on the charts. It was the best selling Four Seasons single of all time and at the time, was the longest-charting single in history, lasting fifty weeks on the Hot 100.

1863: USS Cimarron, Commander Andrew J. Drake,
took blockade runner Evening Star off Wassaw Sound, Georgia, with cargo of cotton.

On 10 June, after intelligence reports indicated that C.S.S. Atlanta was preparing to attack wooden blockader Cimarron,

Rear Admiral Du Pont ordered U.S.S. Weehawken, commanded by Captain J. Rodgers, and U.S.S. Nahant, Commander Downes, to Wassaw Sound, Georgia, where it was reported that the powerful ram C.S.S. Atlanta, Commander Webb, was preparing to attack the wooden blockader U.S.S. Cimarron. A week later Du Pont's wise foresight would save the day for the Union blockade there.

John Fullerton (born January 18, 1957) was a past-pupil of St. Columb's College in Derry.

File:Tonyfurey.jpg
Tony Furey, a life-long friend of John Fullerton and fellow member of the Physical Education department in St. Columb's College.

He is recognised as an overhead and free kick specialist and now teaches Physical Education at the college he once attended as a teenager. Along with John Hume and Seamus Heaney, Fullerton is one of the most renowned figures in the proud and famous institution.

Career

He was noted as a great footballer during his time at St. Columb's. Before his full education ended, the college permitted Fullerton to go on trial with local football clubs, Derry City FC and Finn Harps. His promising progress was brought to a devastating halt, however, by a nasty tendon injury, which he sustained during a training session after a poorly-timed tackle from team-mate, Jonathan Speak. His former school remained faithful to their past-pupil, however, and although failing at the two local clubs, Fullerton was invited to return to St. Columb's in a teaching position during his early twenties. He quickly worked his way up the ranks.

Fullerton began his long, successful career at St. Columb's in 1978 at a time when the college's Physical Education department was in a poor state of affairs. Due to his dogged determination, by 1985 he had a huge influence on the future route the department was to take. Along with Tony Furey, a fellow member of the department and a powerful diplomat, he negotiated with the British government and brokered numerous deals for the state-funding of his department, resulting in the much-needed investment totalling £2 million to be allocated to the department over a period of 7 years between 1987 and 1994. This was a notable achievement for a department-member of a Roman Catholic school at a time when sectarianism had a foothold in the decision-making process with regard to Northern Ireland. After much negotiation with the UUP-backed Conservative Party, Fullerton's fine oratory and national reputation within Northern Ireland won them over.

File:Fullertonandfriends.jpg

Like many other famous local faces, Fullerton, as well as keeping up his role in St. Columb's, ventured into the world of business. He purchased a restaurant, An Grianán, in nearby Burt, Donegal in 1999. In March of 2001 An Grianán won the Donegal Fine Foods Award for good service and general excellence. However, by early 2005, the business was struggling to compete with cross-border restaurants in Derry, due to the poor value of the weak Euro in comparison with the stronger Sterling, the currency in use across the border in Northern Ireland. He sold the premisis to local entrepreneur and successful builder, P.J. McDermott.

His attention is now focused entirely on adding a new state-of-the-art gym to the Physical Education department in St. Columb's. Initial planning permission has been granted by the Derry City Council but further paperwork needs to be done before physical work can commence.

Reputation Amongst Past-Pupils

Many former pupils of St. Columb's have often returned to the college, even years after leaving, to thank Fullerton for his hard work and dedication. In 2004 he won the Past Pupils' Association Alumnus Illustrissimus award for his special achievement and considerable contribution to the field of overhead and free kicking. Previous winners have included another fine contributor to the world of football from the institution, Martin O'Neill in 2002, and Nobel Peace Prize laureate, John Hume in 1995.

Lura L. Stephens

Lura Lyle Stephens was born on March 14, 1924, in a home on a mountain near Monument, Oregon. The nearest post office was a spot on the mountain road a short distance away called Top, Oregon. The Stephens Brothers Ranch was a parcel of about 5000 acres of timber and grass with a house and outbuildings. This is where Lura grew up.

Dad’s mother was Ruth Cecile Rue and his father was Otha Clark Stephens. His namesake was his father’s brother who, during Dad’s teenage years, died in a mental hospital before Dad discovered he was there since the family had kept this information secret. This greatly disturbed Dad; perhaps it had something to do with the fact that Dad later spent a career administering hospital care of the mentally ill. When Dad was 12 in 1936, his mother died of complications following a tonsillectomy, and he struggled with that loss throughout his life, wishing he could remember her more clearly.

His father died in 1955 at the age of 75. Though their home was stern and disciplined, the family was deeply religious, and Dad accepted Christ as his Saviour at about 12 years of age. Dad’s home was host to many traveling Baptist ministers who held revival meetings in the area. In his 1997 autobiography, he wrote, “It was at one of these meetings I believed, repented of my sins, and gave my heart to the Lord. He has been, and is, my sole source of strength and inspiration, my comfort, my rest, my protection, and my strength through all these years. Many are the times that he has held me and kept me safe, and I was so caught up in my own misery that I was not aware that He was with me! I look back and marvel today.”

Dad met Lavinia Sloan at a church association meeting when they were both about 16 years old. Dad always told us that his strategy was to find the prettiest girl in the crowd, sit by her, and see what happened. Lavinia and Lura were married on August 1, 1943, about a month before he went away to serve in the Marine Corps in World War II, during which he served in Guadalcanal and Okinawa as a tank electrician. He didn’t talk much about the war except to tell how God preserved his life on numerous occasions.

After the war Mom and Dad moved to the San Bernardino area, and Dad enrolled in the nursing program at the local community college where he graduated in 1952 as one of the first male nurses in California. In the early 1950’s, Dad worked at Patton State Hospital, later taking a position at Porterville State Hospital in central California. In 1963, he transferred to Camarillo State Hospital where he served as Superintendent of Nursing Services until retiring in 1980.

Mom and Dad moved to Humboldt County, California, in 1980, purchasing a 5-acre parcel of undeveloped land just off Highway 36 near Bridgeville. He enjoyed many years developing that land with home, barns, and other outbuildings. He raised sheep, which reminded him of his youth, and enjoyed each day living in the redwood forest.

During the 1980’s he worked at Redwood Memorial Hospital where he made many friends and earned the respect of his coworkers. One of his great joys was supporting Mom in her painting, encouraging her and building her a lovely studio.

Dad was a pastor’s friend. In every church they attended and it was seldom that he missed church, he was part of the group that did the work and kept things going. He taught Sunday School for many years and had a knack for making people think when they studied the Bible. He was a fine carpenter and worked on several church building projects - building church parsonages and church houses. He was always loyal and respectful of his pastor, and we children never heard anything negative about the church. I will never forget the day I called Dad from Frankfurt, West Germany, where my wife Kathy and I were living at the time. Our oldest son, Jonathan was newly born and Kathy had been in intensive care in the hospital for ten days. I was at the end of my rope with what to do about Kathy, and Dad said, “Hang tight. We’ll be right there.” And within thirty-six hours, he and Mom had arrived to spend the next month caring for Kathy in her recovery. There was no obstacle equal to his determination when it came to caring for his family. He brought God’s peace whenever there was an emergency.

Lura Lyle Stephens passed into the presence of the Lord on December 6, 2005, in Eureka, California, and is survived by his wife, Lavinia, his daughters, Mary Dees and Barbara Reid, his son, Clark Stephens, grandchildren, Laura Parcel, Matthew Reid, Brian Dees, Alan Dees, Jonathan Stephens, Caleb Stephens, Bethany Stephens, a sister, Edna Schoenberger, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Andi Ghalib Case

The public first heard about Roy Suryo in February 1999, when he announced his analysis about the leaked phone conversation between Andi Muhammad Ghalib (Indonesian Jaksa Agung) and B.J. Habibie (President of Indonesia). In it, B.J. Habibie urged Andi Ghalib to lessen his pressure to former president Soeharto.

Roy Suryo said the recording was genuine, and the persons talking in the recording were indeed Andi Ghalib and Habibie.

Miseducation of African-Americans

African-Americans aren't taught about their heritage of BEFORE they came to America and the Caribbean Islands. American teachers have taught only what their idea of slavery was like and life was like after slavery "ended". Young African-Americans should be influenced to research in their family trees and go to libraries, and ask grandparents and great-grandparents about what the Africans' lives were like BEFORE slavery.

Rax also known as the Restaurant Administration Corporation (RAC) was founded by J. Patrick Ross in 1962 with a lone Burger Chef in Wheeling, West Virginia. The company with leeps and bounds by franchising other restaurants like Wendy's, Ponderosa Steak House, Long John Slivers, and Jax. It wasn't until the 1970's the modern Rax would come into full view. In 1970's General Foods gave up on the Jax concept and gave the restaurants to Rac. It was then they changed the name to Rax in 1978. Rax is probably known for revolutionizing the fast food generation in the 1980's by adding salad bars, solariums, and added many foods like roast beef and baked potato to their menus. Many of these were implemented to Wendy's restaurants around the same time too. The restaurant grew to over 500 in 38 states in the United States. However, in the 1991, the company filed for Chapter 11 and the company scaled back many of its stores only to the core markets of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. In 1996, yet again Rax filed for Chapter 11. Yet again, about 50 restaurants were sold off to Wendy's who were expanding their Tim Horton's brand. Today Rax is only eastern Ohio, western Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Many of these are franchises and are still struggling with about 50 restaurants remaining.

Coredemptrix

This is one of the titles given to Mary by the Catholic Church, meaning that she was involved, along with Jesus Christ, in the redemption of humanity.

"This 'collaboration' or 'co-operation' or 'participation' of the Mother of Jesus with her Son in the redemptive work of salvation is referred to in the Church as 'Marian coredemption,' or more specifically, Mary is referred to as 'the Coredemptrix with the Redeemer.' It always remains a secondary and subordinate participation, and never puts her on a level of equality with the one Redeemer, Jesus Christ"

- Taken from "A New Marian Dogma? Coredemptrix, Mediatrix of All Graces, Advocate" on Catholic Culture, [2] This article addresses the issue more fully and would be a good read for those curious about the topic.

This title is not used by protestants, although they would agree that Mary was indeed a faithful servant of God's purposes, and did, in a way, assist in God's plan to save the world through Jesus.

Toward a Critical Race Pedagogy

A Critical Race Pedagogy is derived from three key sources: 1) The scholarship on Black teachers work and lives; 2) Analytical discussions of Culturally Relevant Pedagogy ; and 3) Critical Pedagogy. The work extends from Critical Pedagogy, particularly the work of Freire, Giroux, McLaren and Kanpol. In conjunction with this, the scholarship on Black teachers and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy examines the ways in which Black teachers utilize culture as a basis for fostering the academic achievement of African American students. In particular, work that examines the life histories of Black teachers, explore their views of curriculum, pedagogy and society and investigate the liberatory dimensions of their teaching practices. It grounds itself within a critical analysis of race and racism in education and in the larger society.

Although it was not clear from the above, this appears to refer to this journal article:

Lynn, Marvin. “Toward a Critical Race Pedagogy.” Urban Education v.33 n.5 (January 1999): 606-626.

Connection-oriented services include FTP, SMTP, HTTP, and TELNET. All of these use a three way handshake to establish a connection, maintain sessions for data transfer, and then terminate sessions. FTP uses TCP to upload and download files from remote sites as well as the ability to view folders and folder content in a connection oriented environments as defined by RFC 959. FTP is used when security and error free transmissions are required. SMTP is used for mail transfer where the mail recipients may not be available at the time of transmission. Therefore mail systems spool the mail until such time as the user log on and retrieves the mail. Connection oriented environments are desired to ensure that the mail is transmitted accurately because the mail is stored for later retrieval. SMTP is defined by RFC 821. HTTP is used to access web services on remote services allowing the download of various material from ASCII text to graphics and multi-media as defined by RFC 2068. HTTP also allows the transfer of special languages like Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) files. TELNET requires secure transmissions with guaranteed transmission due to the nature of TELNET as a means of remote logins as defined RFC 854. This allows users to administrators to login and perform necessary operations from remote sites. This method has been a preferred method for UNIX administrators.

FTP, SMTP, HTTP, and TELNET each already have detailed articles, and they, are all discussed some, with references to more detailed articles, from Internet protocol suite and Application layer and OSI model. Or would Connection-oriented protocol be expandable to cover that? If the "three way handshake" is what is distinctive here, maybe three way handshake would be a more needed article, as Stateful firewall, Bidirectional Forwarding Detection, HIPAA, SYN flood, and Challenge-handshake authentication protocol all also mention it, although the last is the only one that has it linked, but it actually links to just handshaking--maybe that needs expanding? Googling for "Connection Oriented Services" doesn't seem to find results that are limited to FTP, SMTP, HTTP, and TELNET. Ain't computer jargon great? :/ 24.17.48.241 09:11, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Three way handshakes are a characteristic of TCP. The handshake for setting up a PSTN phone call is potentially only two way, but that is a connection oriented service. One could argue that there are such services that use TCP/IP protocols, but don't use TCP (e.g. much VOIP and streaming audio), but there is no fundamental reason why they should need three way handshakes. As all the examples are TCP based, I think the request really amounts to a redirect from wrong capitalisation, wrong number, and alternative name to Connection-oriented protocol. I have modified the title to create with the correct capitalisation and as singular, however, with the current content it should only be created as a redirect, and consideration should be given to the possibility that someone may want to distinguish between protocols and services in the future (e.g. one might argue that TFTP is a connectionless protocol providing a connection oriented service.
POV comment: no competent Unix system adminstrator would consider TELNET to be secure; if they wanted that bsaic capability they would, most likely, be using SSH. --David Woolley 09:57, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Of all of his accomplishments in business, the fabled Mario Toy Company is the most recent, and by for the most unlikely of Mario's successes! Set within its own main builing, which is surrounded by the factories that produce the toys, The company in itself diplays its devotion to the one golden rule: "To be a masterful company, thou must give the fans what they desire most." and in this case, the fans want Mario. This is not only the prime reason for Mario to open this company, but it is possibly a way to escape from the raving fans that just want to feel the awsome power of his his beautifully styled musteache. Furthermore, it is also a good way of making compitition with Wario and his cruel microgame producing, greed obsessed company, Warioware inc. Anyway, The toy company seems to only exist in Mario vs Donkey Kong.

Wehrle's salamander (Plethodon wehrlei) is a large salamander with webbed hind feet. It is bluish-black with small, scattered white spots on it's back. It's sides are covered with white to yellow spots and blotches. It's belly and ventral surface of the tail are solid gray, and the throat and upper chest usually have white or yellowish blotches. The species grows to a length of 10-17 cm. Mating occurs from fall through spring. A small cluster of eggs is laid in early summer in damp logs, soils or moss, and in crevices in caves. Reproduction is biennial or irregular, with many mature females failing to breed each year. This species stays under cover during the day, and comes out to forage at night. This species is found on forested hillsides in the Appalachian Plateau, where it hides by day beneath stones or rocks. Thats about 13000 (thirteen thousand) topics related to myteries. BUT not a topic about "Myterious websites" NOW I think it is time to create an article about "Myterious websites" !!!

After all; this Wikipedia is an ancyclopedia on internet which is related to websites in the final account. So I propose to create an article called "Myterious websites"

Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate list of website links. You would have to give considerable documentation on each of the sites and what makes them notable, or the article wouldy likely be listed for AfD. User:Zoe|(talk) 23:36, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

John Meldrum

BIOGRAPHY

Paris based guitarist singer-songwriter John Meldrum is back with a new acoustic album “Long Live Love” (Musiclip/ Zap Music). The songs are haunting in the “love lost never to be found again” genre, yet with some interesting twists. Call it music for a rainy day; the shadows and shimmering lights of the night. It’s for the Paris in all of us : the romantic, wistful atmosphere of the lonely boulevards, a late night tryst with a forsaken lover, the sad café goodbye.

Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, John Meldrum did a five year stint there in the jingle business where he worked alongside such future stars as Jim Brickman, Trent Reznor, and actor/singer Cliff Bemis. They moved west to L.A. in the late 80’s but John Meldrum felt the urge to go the opposite direction. “I grew tired of the relentlessness of advertising music, so I left America in search of something else, a different way to live.” John Meldrum won second prize in the Billboard song contest with the instrumental “Samba del Mar” in 1989, but upon seeing Paris for the first time, it was too late. He fell in love with the City

of Lights, and his life was never the same.

He started working in Paris playing Highlife music with Freduia Ageyman, a superb Ghanaian drummer and songwriter. John Meldrum played rhythm guitar and sang with him for 5 years; the influence of this experience was to play a large role later on. In 1993/94, Meldrum wrote and recorded his first album “no rules here”(Melmuse). As the title suggests, the disc holds to no particular style, but explores the range of his talents in a variety of settings: rock, pop, jazz and even classical guitar. Isolated from the recording industry yet still influenced by the popular music of the 70’s and the 80’s, he had free reign to create according to his muse in the style of an American in Paris. Around this time, John Meldrum also worked with Virgin recording artist Euston Jones and future star Madeleine Peyroux.

Moving on, John Meldrum spent 6 weeks in Ghana in the summer of 1995 where he visited the village of Ayijah near Kumasi. This trip had a huge impact on him. “Music in Africa is not a commodity, it’s a daily way of life” says Meldrum. Upon returning to Paris, John Meldrum put together his group, Zongo Ambassadors and recorded the album “Ayijah” (Melmuse/Night and Day), which ranges from Highlife to pop and gospel all distilled through the craft of a singer-songwriter. The Zongo group, featuring Lisa E. Arscott and Hortense Rabarivelo, toured France, The U.K. and Switzerland; one of the highlights was singing his song, “Brother,Brother” with 650 children from 27 countries at UNESCO in Paris. Along the way, John Meldrum was lucky enough to meet Carlos Santana, Salif Keita, Max Roach, Jacques Higelin, Jean-Philippe Rykiel and Nana Danso.

Produced by Pierrejean Gaucher, the renowned French jazz guitarist and composer, “Long Live Love” marks the return of John Meldrum after a long wait. When his group broke up 6 years ago, he spent time composing and playing guitar for other artists in Paris and London, as well as developing the songs for this new recording. The African influence is nowhere to be heard. Asked about this, John Meldrum says, “This album is a return to the musical roots of when I was growing up listening to James Taylor, Carole King, early Elton John, people like that who really touched me.” 2006 is the year when John Meldrum will return to the stage performing songs from “Long Live Love” as well as songs from his previous two releases.

Cognitive Madisonianism

The conscious preference for divided government. That is, when the executive branch is held by a Republican, the legislative should be controlled by the Democrats and vice versa. First articulated by XXXXX Madison, XXth President of the United States. Popularized by XXXXX (V.O. Key??) (probably in reference to the South's relatively long-term preference for Republican Presidents and Democratic representatives).

Very few Google hits, and almost all of them seem to refer to an article in The Journal of Politics, Volume 66, Issue 1 (February 2004 (see http://journalofpolitics.org/art66_1.html#a5) It needs to have broader usage before it would make a decent article. Retarded Animal Babies Easter Egg List

I'd like something like this. I love the cartoon. Retarded Animal Babies.

The name multiple characters refer to in Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty.

Represents the term 'The Patriots' as a way of expressing them without revealing their existence.

In some cases it is what is spoken by or heard by people with nanomachines inside their body. Examples are Raiden and Emma Emmerich. The nanomachines actually interfere with the functions of the brain so that the term 'The Patriots' is replaced by La-le-lu-li-lo, which is spoken or heard, whichever is necessary. It is unknown whether this effect also resides in the reading and writing of the term 'The Patriots'.

Oliveira, Antonio Resende de

Portuguese historian at the University of Coimbra. Oliveira has made major contributions to our understanding of the chronology, geography and social condition of the trobadores and jograes (jongleurs)of the Galician-Portuguese lyric, which lasted from roughly 1200 to around 1350. Among other things Oliveira showed that the early centers of poetic activity were not the royal courts of Castile and Portugal, but rather aristocratic houses in Galicia (northwest Spain) and the north of Portugal and that there is no evidence that Santiago de Compostela played an important role in the development of the "school", as had long been thought.

The Battle of Claremore Mound, or the Battle of the Strawberry Moon, was one of the chief battles of the war between the Osage and Cherokee Indians. It occured in the spring of 1817 when a band of Cherokees and their allies under Chief Spring Frog (Too-an-tuh) attacked Pasuga, an Osage village at the foot of Claremore Mound. During the two-day battle, the Cherokees killed or captured every member of Chief Clermont's band, and destroyed everything they could not carry off. Historians consider it one of the bloodiest Indian massacres in modern history. 12.74.168.166 21:52, 11 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Category:U.S. Army Generals - Maj.Gen. H.H. Bandholtz (stub)

Major General Harry Hill Bandholtz 1864-05.11.1925.(New York)

Before WWI Bandholtz was Chief of the American Constabulary in the Philippines between 1907-1913.

As Brig.Gen., he was Provost Marshal to General Pershing's American Exp. Force in France at the end of the WWI.

Between 1919 and 1920 he was the US representative to the Inter-Allied Supreme Command's Military Mission in Hungary.

He became famous there when, on the night Oct 5, 1919, "armed" only with a riding crop, prevented romanian soldiers from robbing the Hungarian National Museum.

He also prevented the arresting of Hungarian PM Friedrich by the romanians.

In his honor a statue was placed in front of the US embassy in Budapest, in 1936, with the following insripction:

"I simply carried out the instruction of my government,
as I understood them, as an officer and a gentleman
            of the United States Army."

After WWII the statue was removed from its place by the new order. In the 1980s, at the request of Ambassador Salgo, it was moved from a statue boneyard to the garden of the US Ambassador's residence.

It was placed back to the US embassy in 1989.

In 1920, when a rebellion among miners broke out in Mingo County, West Wirginia, President Harding sent Gen. Bandholtz and Gen. Billy Mitchell to control of the situation.

There is also a picture of Gen. Bandholtz on the Junge Patrol website, at chapter 7.(Banditry).

A picture of the statue is on the website of the Hungarian US embassy(http://budapest.usembassy.gov/statue_of_bandholtz.html).

The Rockingham Pottery was a 19th Century manufacturer of porcelain of international repute, supplying fine wares and ornamental pieces to royalty and the aristocracy in Britain and overseas, as well as manufacturing porcelain and earthenware items for ordinary use.

It is most well known for its finely decorated and somewhat gaudy rococo style of porcelain; indeed its name has almost come to classify such a style and as such pieces by other factories are regularly and incorrectly attributed to Rockingham.

The factory was located in Swinton, South Yorkshire, England, and for the later part of its lifetime existed under the patronage of the Earls Fitzwilliam, Marquises of Rockingham, who were the major landowners in the area, whose stately home and extensive park was located several miles away in Wentworth, and from whom the works took its name.

Records show that a potworks making utilitarian earthenware for the local market existed on the site in 1745, this passed through the hands of several owners inclduing being linked for some time with the Leeds Pottery, until ownership eventually passed into the hands of the industrious Brameld family in the early 19th century. Experiments with porcelain began in 1820. By 1828 fine porcelain services and ornamental wares were being produced alongside day-to-day porcelain and earthenware, which brought the factory came to the attention of the high and mighty, assisted by its link with the Fitzwilliams. Royal commissions led the factory to use the the tagline "Manufacturer to the King" from the early 1830s.

The pinnacle of the factory's output were the two intricately decorated "Rhinoceros" vases which were at that time the largest porcelain objects in existence, one of which is in the Victoria and Albert Museum and the other of which is in the Clifton Park Museum in Rotherham, and an large exquisite service commissioned for King William VI, which took eight years to complete, was eventually delivered to his successor Victoria and can still be seen at Buckingham Palace.

Unfortunately the Brameld family were more ceramic artists than businessmen: in the pursuit of their art they frequently lost sight of the bottom line and had to be bailed out by the Earl. Eventually in the face of mounting debts the Earl lost patience and the bankrupt pottery closed in 1842.

The Massacre of Cutthroat Gap occurred in the spring of 1833 in the Wichita Mountains. Osage Indians attacked the Kiowa village of Chief Islandman while most of the warriors were away raiding the Utes and the rest away on a buffalo hunt. The Osage killed the few remaining men and more than 150 Kiowa women and children. Few escaped. The Osage cut the heads from the bodies and left them in a row kettles spread across the village. He felt it necessary to build an army of Superman Robots (created in his own image, all wearing the famous "S" shield but wearing variations of the Red, Blue and Yellow costume). The Superman Robots were also given a small degree of sentience, making each one an autonomous agent of the Man of Steel. There job: To protect mankind (agressively if necessary) attending to crises beyond Superman's reach. The Superman Robots' powers included Super-Strength, Flight and Heat Vision, but were inferior to Superman's own powers. Once Dominus has been defeated, Superman had most of the Robots destroyed. Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band is a 21st Century Big Band featuring the talents of players such as Wayne Bergeron. The band has released two albums, "Swingin' For The Fences" and "XXL." Their first album "Swingin' For The Fences" has become an almost standard album, with many charts becoming commonplace for high school and professional big bands. The most famous track from that album is "Sing, Sang, Sung" which is a parody/tribute to the Benny Goodman classic. It also features the very complex "Bach 2 Part Invention in D minor" a track which contains two distinct melodies going on at the same time throughout the whole piece. Guest soloists include Thad Jones' clarinetist Eddie Daniels, and trumpet virtuouso Arturo Sandoval. Another point of the first album was the general transtition through time with the tracks, for the most part going in order according to the style, so the big band era, all the way to modern rock and funk is represented with respect. "XXL" is a little more experiemental with vocal songs, featuring artists such as Brian McKnight. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.245.189.180 (talkcontribs)

Elexorien

Elexorien (the Netherlands) was founded in 2004. We play a mixture of power and viking metal, in which the folk- black- and even deathmetal influences play a great part as well. "Epic Fantasy Battle metal" would be the best way to describe our music.

We have been influenced by bands such as Thyrfing, Moonsorrow, Bal-Sagoth, and Old Man's Child.

Elexorien creates an extremely powerful sound which is jam-packed full of catchy melodies, blazing drums, growls and classically trained female vocals.

Vocalist Iné “The Crusher” Zijlstra joined the band in February 2005, and in August of the same year, guitarist Ronald “Wolve” Lukken was hailed amongst the ranks of Elexorien.

We have played quite a few concerts all over the Netherlands, the most memorable ones being the gigs with the Dutch leading Folkmetal heroes Heidevolk, and the well-known Finnish Pagan/Folkmetalband Korpiklaani.

Line-up:

Iné "The Crusher" Zijlstra - Vocals Lainedil - Vocals/Guitar Wolve - Guitar Liza "Battle Bitch" Hoek - Bass Bert "Grimbert den Heerscher" de Ruiter - Keys Joris "Blastmaster" Nijenhuis - Drums

Benoît Roux

Benoît Roux is a Professor at the University of Chicago who uses theoretical physics to understand biological systems at the molecular level. In his laboratory, classical molecular dynamics is used to probe the structure, dynamics, and function of biological macromolecular systems such as ion channels and allosteric proteins. He was a pioneer in the study of the influence of the membrane on the function of membrane proteins using molecular dynamics simulations in which the phospholipid bilayer and the solvent were treated explicitly. In addition, specific computational methodologies are being developed in his laboratory to tackle fundamental problems in molecular recognition. His work establishes a bridge between theory and experiment in biophysics.

Looks like another not notable biography. There is only one Google hit for him and only 8 significant ones for Houston Baha'i Center, which is what the one hit gives as his affiliation. --David Woolley 12:55, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Saiyuki Reloaded

Saiyuki Reloaded: Story Synopsis

Continuing the story of Genjyo Sanzo, Son Goku, Cho Hakkai and Sha Gojyo, Reloaded changed alot of the characters designs in terms clothes (possibly due to a lawsuit).

Following the journey to stop the experiments on Demon King Gyumaoh the team meet new and more feindish foes as they close in on India, their final destination.

Clothing Changes

The changes in clothing in comparrison to the original series of Saiyuki are greatly different. Sha Gojyo's hair is darker coloured, his bandana is a different colour and he now wears a jacket. The changes in charcters Son Goku and Cho Hakkai are not as prominant.

In episode 2 of the Reloaded series, the "Sanzo Party" face off against copies of themselves. These copies are wearing the clothes from the previous series.

It is rumoured that the characters had to undergo changes in design due to Kazuya Minekara's loss of licence over the characters.
