RE: Your recent WP:UNI/COTF Nomination

Just a friendly reminder, WP:UNI/COTF is not a publicity booster for universities. Please read our university guidelines regarding our selection processes as well our general article guidelines. It clearly states that we are not here to promote the university. It is simply to improve existing articles regarding an education institution, not to gain publicity. - Jameson L. Gandhi

Thank you for your response. I hope that you please forgive the tardiness of my response. As you may judge from the length of it, I was not always up to writing it in a single go. Upon re-reading the response, I feel that I may have presented my views in an overly harsh fashion. I hope that you will not take them in as a negative reproach of your views. I have been informed that my officious, and perhaps "prim" fashion of writing is at times off-putting.--Cast (talk) 06:40, 21 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pilgrim template

Hi I noticed you made a change to the Pilgramage sites of India template. I just thought I'd let you know, the template is not being used in any articles. Cheers. Adam (talk) (talk) 04:39, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Motto of the day

Hello, I notice you're using one of the {{motd}} templates, run by Wikipedia:Motto of the day. You may have noticed that some of the mottos recently have been followed by a date from 2006, or on occasion simply "Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". The reason for this is that Motto of the day is in some very serious need of help. Participation in the project, which has never been especially high, has dropped considerably over this past summer, to the point we have had several days where no motto was scheduled to appear at all. Over the past several weeks, I've been the only editor scheduling mottos at all, but there aren't enough comments on some of these mottos to justify their use. If we do not get some help - and soon - your daily mottos will stop. In order for us to continue updating these templates for you, we need your help.

When you get a chance between your normal editing, could you stop by our nominations page and leave a few comments on some of the mottos there, especially those that do not have any comments yet? This works very simply; you read a motto, decide whether or not you like it, and post your opinion just below the motto. That's it - no experience required, just an idea of what you personally like and what you feel reflects Wikipedia and its community. If you do have past experience with the project, then please close some of the older nominations once they've got a decent consensus going. There are directions on the nominations page on how to do this.

If you have any questions, please let me know, or post on the project's talk page. I'm looking forward to reading your comments on the suggested mottos, and any additional suggestions you'd like to make. Until then, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 03:30, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the _FORCETOC_ command line. I assume that this is the command to make a list of contents appear. I guess _FORCETOC_ is FORCE Table Of Contents.  Declan Davis   (talk)  20:09, 30 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't understand; the Wikibook already has a table of contents. It just doesn't have anything written in any of the sections. What is it you'd like my opinion about?  Declan Davis   (talk)  15:33, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see, well, in all honesty I'm a differential geometer and haven't worked much with combinatorics since I was an undergraduate. The topics of my undergradaure course were

  • Introduction to combinatorial problems (motivations)
  • Selection and binomial coefficients
  • Counting problems:
  • The inclusion-exclusion principal
  • counting various types of partitions
  • Ferrers graphs
  • self-conjugate partitions
  • monomial symmetric functions
  • elementary symmetric functions
  • theory of equations
  • Newton's formulae and relations between symmetric functions
  • indexing of symmetric functions by partitions.

So I guess you might want to add what's here and not on the ToC to the ToC.  Δεκλαν Δαφισ   (talk)  12:55, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Main Page Redesign

Hey Shahab, I've updated my Main Page Redesign proposal substantially, and you had some really great points last time you commented - hopefully you'll see the effects of your suggestions. It would be great if you could comment on the new proposal, I'm really proud of how it's shaping up. Many thanks -- PretzelsTalk! 09:01, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Image removal

I'd've thought that the phrase "no image" and the fact that what would normally be the picture was in fact a fetching red link would be a good enough reason, but clearly not. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 00:23, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

When you get back could you take a look at my questions at Portal talk:Sufism? The main question is the use of the Islam template. If there is someone else to look all the better. Shenme (talk) 04:47, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

S.C. Jamir

Hi! I've contested your request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move S.C. Jamir to the person's full name, because I feel that the move is not uncontroversial. See my reasoning there. Feel free to start a regular move request as explained here. Regards, Jafeluv (talk) 11:42, 2 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Old school Vandalism 2

I think you have alot of dedication to the project here. And I am impressed at the difficulty it takes to confirm wether a source is true or not. Especially when it is embedded for so long. Its quite dangerous to the project when we have statements which can be taken as fact when it isnt so much. For your dedication to the project I am awarding you this barnstar for your hard work and trying to meet the requirements of the award set out on WP: Reward and for your other WP efforst. :) Ottawa4ever (talk) 14:43, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi bro. Ramjan mubarak ...I have one advice for you, since you had got great talent, as anti-vandalsim i wish you should keep close vigilance on Islamic articles, specially related to some other religions as people may change, modify contents as per their intuition without knowing reality...Thanks.... Assistance needed

Hi Shahab,

I changed the layout of the page Hashim Qureshi and now I am busy with the formation of a page about the JK Democratic Liberation Party. I still have one problem. I have described the source and license of the images I have uploaded on the page Hashim Qureshi, still if you click them you get the following message: 'This media file is missing essential source information. The author and source of the file must be given, so that others can verify the copyright status. Unless the source is given, the file can be speedily deleted seven days after this template was added and the uploader was notified:'. COuld you please tell me why and how I can change that. Thank you. Umeraslam (talk) 13:12, 7 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed for Hindi Wiki

Hello Shahab, I am a regular contributor at hindi wiki. We have many articles in Hindi on Islam. we do not have people who can judge the article contents as no one has knowledge about Islam. Can you please go through the Hindi articles and let us know if you found any wrong or objectionable information. You are also welcome to correct the articles or add new articles. Article on Islam is hi:इस्लाम and portal on Islam can be reached at hi:प्रवेशद्वार:इस्लाम. If you think I should include more wikipedians for this task please suggest names to me. Hoping to hear from you. Thanks, Regards, Id Mubarak Gunjan (talk) 08:59, 21 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Shahab for your suggestions. We would soon implement your suggestions. There is one template at hindi wiki {{साँचा:इस्लाम}}which can guide you to other Islam related articles. I hope you can review some of those articles as well. Thanks Gunjan (talk) 11:47, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that update. Do you know any reliable literature/source in Hindi on Islam. Any book, journal etc Gunjan (talk) 14:17, 22 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That is what I fear. Islam has been wrongly portrayed in most of the material available in Hindi and English freely available on Internet. I am trying to bring the correct picture of Islam on Hindi Wiki so that people with non Islamic background would come to know about this religion. But as you know the subject is so vast it is not possible for one person to do all the stuff. On top of that we are short of people at Hindi wiki even for regular articles. I wish if we can request people from Islamic background on English or Urdu wiki to come forward and add material on Hindi wiki. There is not major difference between Urdu and Hindi except the script. There are several phonetic tools available on Internet to write Hindi (Devnagri. One just has to write phonetically no need to know the intricacies of the script. I can manage the proof reading and correction of the spellings later. What do you think. Please let me know. Gunjan (talk) 04:27, 23 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
