The HTC Legend is a phone manufactured by Taiwan's HTC Corporation for the Android platform. It was unveiled by HTC during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 16, 2010 and went on sale on 31 March 2010
The HTC Legend, which runs Android 2.1, is made from a single block of aluminium and has a very bright and clear 3.2 inch AMOLED (Active-Matrix OLED) display. Vodafone will be selling the handset in Europe, wary of losing out after missing the iPhone in some of the company's key European markets. Vodafone also claimed exclusivity rights in terms of the handset and will be the only network provider in the UK to sell the phone.
Despite its body being engineered from a single piece of aluminium, the HTC Legend has a removable battery, which slides out from a compartment at the bottom of the phone. The back of the battery casing also contains the phone's antenna so that its metal body does not hinder signal strength.
The Legend is the successor to the popular HTC Hero and is slimmer and smaller than its predecessor.
It was first offered in North America by Virgin Mobile Canada.[3][4]
Sprint Nextel will be releasing the HTC Legend in the United States as the HTC Hero 2.[citation needed]
In Malaysia, the HTC Legend debut on 3 major operators DiGi, Maxis & Celcom.[5]
Reception
Early reviews of the HTC Legend have been mostly positive, with critics praising its design and improved 'HTC Sense' user interface as well as increased performance over its predecessor, the HTC Hero. Critics have also praised the optical trackpad at the bottom of the phone which replaces the optical trackball on the HTC Hero with a better design, whilst complementing the aesthetics of the phone.
CNET UK reviewed the phone on March 8 and awarded the phone 9.2/10 [6].
Gizmodo reviewed the phone on March 8 and praised it for its build quality, incremental hardware upgrade, improved responsiveness, and new features making it a good successor to the HTC Hero.[7]
