The 2011–12 FA Cup (also known as the 2011–12 FA Cup with Budweiser)[1] is the 131st season of the world's oldest association football knock-out competition. The closing date for applications was 1 April 2011, and saw 825 clubs apply to enter.[2] On 8 July 2011 the FA announced that 763 clubs had been accepted.[3] The winners will qualify for the group stage of the 2012–13 UEFA Europa League.[4]

Manchester City were the defending champions, having beaten Stoke City 1–0 in the 2011 Final. They made an early exit in 2011-2012 after being defeated 3–2 by rivals Manchester United in the Third Round.

This is the first season that the tournament is sponsored by Budweiser.
