Hey! Just to let you know that following my edits to List of UEFA European Football Championship finals (which now has five supports) I believe we can apply a similar approach to the cricket one, and so I'll be updating it and tidying it up in due course. Any help/co-nomination you'd like to get involved in would be perfect. All the best, The Rambling Man (talk) 14:53, 9 January 2012 (UTC)
- I'm writing potted histories of each final, I suggest right now you copyedit the lead and check it against any outstanding comments from the first FLC. Then you can have a read of the history section to check if I'm talking rubbish at any point!! The Rambling Man (talk) 13:59, 10 January 2012 (UTC)

Regarding references
- Hey, while I appreciate you looking into references and mending them, please note that the video has not been used as a sole reference. The video has been transcribed below on the website and there is text on the webpage. Regarding the blog, WP:RS states that "it is alright" to use blogs of sites and services that provide their news and information on blogs. This article was created when I was just newly starting up. Although not citing with a citebox is not a crime, I try to use the cite box now on. So, I have reverted the video edit. Also, I think in your edit you've broken a reference link on the Nathdwara Painting page. Please fix it :) Noopur28 (talk) 11:28, 13 January 2012 (UTC)

I noticed that you seem to be offering support at Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of India Twenty20 International cricketers/archive1. If so, would you do me a favor and bold your support? It makes it a lot easier for us directors to check for consensus when promoting/archiving lists. Oh, and I plan on checking the changes in your FLC later today. Brabourne
Couldn't find the Dossa/Raiji book. I have probably packed it off to my parents' place, in which case it will be a few weeks before I can recover it :-( I bought another one called Times of Brabourne a couple of years back. But still haven't read it and have to search to see where it is. Tintin 14:02, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Re the old query about Compton and Wadekar - Compton is very well documented like in here and here. Wadekar is still the second highest at the ground. IIRC its inclusion was inspired by something by Gavaskar that I had read at the time. Tintin 14:18, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- Single wicket is straight out of Raiji/Dossa. The other one also probably is. What is the problem with the Interzonal ? The scorecards are in http://cricketarchive.com/Archive/Seasons/IND/1945-46_IND_Zonal_Quadrangular_Tournament_1945-46.html and it can be verified from CA that there are no other Indian east/west/north/south till Duleep was started. Tintin 14:26, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- I don't think we'll find that the same *tournament* was revived, but that the same *concept* was revived. Tintin 14:32, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- No problem :) Tintin 14:48, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Tourist defeats at Brabourne
"... becoming only the third Indian domestic team to beat an international team in a 3 day game," comes from Rediff which says "Only thrice in Indian cricket history has a team defeated a visiting squad outside the Tests. In 1966-67, a joint Central and East Zone team routed Gary Sobers's West Indies side at Indore. Seventeen years later, in 1984-85, Ravi Shastri's under-19 team beat David Gower's England squad at Ahmedabad."

Encyclopedic content
Hi, AroundTheGlobe.
I notice you trimmed some content that you believed to be not encyclopedic.
However, when you have a city neighborhood, you mention the major corporations with their headquarters. WhisperToMe (talk) 23:27, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
- It is called for, because it can be expanded later, with sources. I know about WP:NOT#Directory, but when making articles, there are some things that seem directory-like, but are in fact "skeletons" for things that are clearly notable and there should be no question that they should stay. I know from experience. It becomes apparent when you try to expand them. For instance, when listing schools... Usually in a U.S. municipality I list all schools if the number of zoned public schools of a given category for an urban neighborhood or small town/medium city are eight or less. If somebody removed the information, I would restore it in a heartbeat, because school info is always notable for a community, and it can always be expanded or explained. If somebody persists in trying to remove it, I would immediately begin the sourcing process and find sources to prove that the section needs to stay.
- I see the same thing when a large corporation has its worldwide HQ in an urban neighborhood. Jet Airways and Kingfisher Airlines are the largest private airlines in India. They are major companies (not sure what the Indian equivalent is, but Fortune 500 and the CAC 40 are examples). They bring in money to the communities where their head offices stand. For major U.S. cities, business journals eagerly discuss headquarters and office moves and leases. I can imagine I can find the same stuff in Indian newspapers (I just found an article on Vijay Mallya trying to sell the Kingfisher Airlines HQ). Major company office stuff is notable, and sources discuss these things, showing notability.
WhisperToMe (talk) 06:29, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
I'm not sure how it is for areas in India, but for areas in U.S. cities, typically the school notes become too long starting around a community of maybe 50 or 60 thousand or more. One could do a list of schools in X city, but for U.S. cities I often rely on specific neighborhood articles and/or school district articles to do the trick. But India doesn't have school districts, so List of schools in Andheri could work if the section has too many schools (and/or the community has so many people). For an example of a 15K American city, see Bellaire,_Texas#Education (It became a GA several years ago) - For economy and workforce, see Bellaire,_Texas#Economy_and_workforce - Bellaire is a small Texas municipality with about 15,000 people, but in many ways it functions as a neighborhood of Houston, which almost surrounds Bellaire WhisperToMe (talk) 06:48, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- Wow. 800K total is pretty large. That's more like a medium-to-large city, like the whole of Austin, Texas. That means it would be treated very differently than a small municipality of 15K. Schools could be listed in a separate article (List of schools in Andheri), and the lead-in to the list could mention maybe how many schools of each type there are, and/or the nature of the students in Andheri. It could also help if we knew of subdivisions or neighborhoods within Andheri, and perhaps have some more detailed lists of places and things there.
- For companies, I do not know if Andheri is considered to have prominent business districts. The most important/largest companies should be listed first and/or listed to the exclusion of smaller firms. Perhaps numbers of employees and/or positions on Indian or foreign stock exchanges can determine which ones win out.
- WhisperToMe (talk) 07:03, 16 March 2012 (UTC)
- And 1.5 million for both sides combined is the size of Philadelphia, the 5th largest city in the USA. Manhattan has a similar number. WhisperToMe (talk) 07:19, 16 March 2012 (UTC)

Indian soaps
Hi ATG, thanks for all your work on the articles of Indian soaps. I see many of them list week by week TAM ratings sourced by sites like Indian TV.com. It seems to me they should come out. Your thoughts on this are appreciated. Thanks Span (talk) 09:54, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- I also see some Copy-vio problems on Indian soaps and have raised the problem at Wikipedia_talk:Copyright_problems#Copyvios_on_Indian_Television_articles. You can comment there or help point out more. §§AnimeshKulkarni (talk) 15:14, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
Tagging templates
Hi there, I saw that you tagged a few cricketer articles with {{unreferenced}}, even though they had a player specific ref to cricket archive. Please try to use the Biography of Living People (BLP) specific tags, but only articles that are completely unreferenced should have {{BLP unsourced}}, if there is a source (regardless of whether it is properly formated or in an external link) then {{BLP sources}} should be used, in conjunction with {{no footnotes}}, {{primary sources}} or other specific tags as appropriate. Regards, The-Pope (talk) 13:01, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
- The crickarchive ones your talking of are probably listed as external links, which is why they were thus tagged. Will keep in mind what you have mentioned, Thanks! Around The Globeसत्यमेव जयते 07:08, 17 April 2012 (UTC)
In The News/Recurring Items
I am posting here to ask for editors to look at Wikipedia:In_the_news/Recurring_items and to comment at the talk page to discuss/vote on an amendment to the ITN/R list. I am posting this message on a number of editor's talk pages to encourage debate.
In connection to an ongoing debate on which items can appear on the front page under "In The News", "Recurring Items" are nominated events which require very little debate in the nomination process.
I propose the following amendment to the current ITN/R list. In addition I will put this on the talk page of as many editors as I can find who are contributors to ITN/C
At Wikipedia:In_the_news/Recurring_items, I propose the following amendment to section 3:
- At line 5, delete "and", and add after "territories" the words "and the world's twenty smallest nations".
Section 3, Line 5 would then read:
- Disputed states, dependent territories and the world's twenty smallest nations should be discussed at WP:ITN/C and judged on their own merits.
I look forward to the debate doktorb wordsdeeds 07:29, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

WP IPL and Wikipedia:WikiProject Green Day
There are around 1000 articles that can be brought under WP IPL
While there will be hardly 200 articles for WP GREEN DAY (My fav) So, in comparison, I don't think that there is any problem in keeping WP IPL. Yasht101 08:20, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

As someone who regularly contributes to election articles: Due to recurrent discussions that lead nowhere, an open-ended discussion and proposals are invited Wikipedia talk:In the news/Recurring items/Elections for ITN on the main page as to what should be recurrent without ITNC discussionsLihaas (talk) 07:24, 19 April 2012 (UTC)
