X Factor contestants - deletions
Hi! I saw that you added Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Janet_Devlin_(singer) to "list of Bands and musicians-related deletion discussions." You may want to also add Talk:Misha_Bryan_(singer). There appears to be a couple of editors who are hellbent on deleting any individual articles of X Factor contestants with no basis in current Wikipedia notability guidelines (and then these editors redirect names back to X Factor pages). The results of these discussions would either improve of notability guidelines or provide precedent in letting the current guidelines stand.-- NewzealanderA (talk) 15:46, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- Misha Brian (singer) didn't go to AfD. It was speedily deleted and salted by an admin. If the other singer articles come to AfD I or another editor will list it on deletion sorting. • Gene93k (talk) 18:01, 2 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks!-- NewzealanderA (talk) 18:46, 2 July 2012 (UTC)

hi i saw you commented on the deleting of the article on this artist. i wrote a comment on the talk page [1] saying why i think it should exist with some sources. can i make the article?Happy monsoon day 16:15, 22 July 2012 (UTC)
- That talk page you pointed to has been deleted, but I have looked at the article in your user space. I did not vote in the AfD, but, as I see it, Lord Huron still fails the WP:Notability (music) guideline. The band needs more substantial coverage by reliable sources. The LA Times and NPR references are a good start, but they don't go deep enough. • Gene93k (talk) 18:01, 22 July 2012 (UTC)

The article is a stub of which I've been working on about the model Dudley O'Shaughnessy.
I think an article is of the person is needed on wikipedia. I wanted to give a description of the persons activities as an upcoming model listed on the Next model management website in the talent section and as a former boxer with articles written by the BBC and other reliable websites. I have added more information and many more sources and have tried to make it as accurate as possible.
I do however understand that a previous article was created last year (not by me), having read parts of it I do not see many similarities between the two. The references I have given are a lot stronger and the information although not lengthy is fairly accurate.
I'm asking that you review the article again and rethink your proposal for deletion.
Thank you Regards UgoUgochinyerem (talk) 04:28, 24 July 2012 (UTC)
- BenTels (talk · contribs) nominated Dudley O'Shaughnessy for deletion, I didn't. Adding the deletion debate to the list of deletions notifies other editors that the debate is open. It neither supports nor opposes deletion. Finally, any arguments for keeping the article are best made at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dudley O'Shaughnessy (2nd nomination), not here. • Gene93k (talk) 23:56, 24 July 2012 (UTC)

Tiffany Tyler article
Hi, I've seen that you have tagged the article written by me with doubt about notability. Please help me to understand. This actress is mentioned in Internet Movie Database, Internet Adult Film Database, Adult Film database. She's been nominated for AVN awards I've provided a lot of sources for her activity. Obviously are sources compatible with her work, like adult's magazine and adult's website. There are in Wikipedia many actresses (example Dani Jensen article or Tiffany Hopkins article)with fewer references than mine but the're not tagged about notability. I don't understand why my article has been tagged in this way. I'll appreciate very much if you let me know why this difference among my article and the others that I've reported as example.
Thank you very much
Unvisigoth (talk) 18:48, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
- Please see Wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources and the notability of pornographic actors (WP:PORNBIO). None of the sources cited in the Tiffany Tyler article are reliable. The AVN.com article appears to be a press release and doesn't count. Please also note that editors have tightened the WP:PORNBIO standard so that scene-related awards and nominations don't count toward notability. The Dani Jensen article doesn't meet the new PORNBIO standard either. Editors will get around to it in due time. Tiffany Hopkins narrowly passes PORNBIO with nominations in multiple years (AVN and FICEB). I tagged the article because a single scene-related AVN nomination is not enough. • Gene93k (talk) 19:30, 10 August 2012 (UTC)
Doing your job?
Hi, I saw you placing many of the AfD debates under a certain list or category so I thought I should ask you something about that since are probably familiar with the process. So is it alright to do that right after I have created an AfD discussion?. Bleubeatle (talk) 23:01, 11 August 2012 (UTC)
- It's not a formal job. It is deletion sorting. It's optional for the nominator to add the debate to relevant deletion sorting lists, alerting interested editors. If they don't editors like me will come along and sort them. • Gene93k (talk) 02:04, 12 August 2012 (UTC)

Hi, whatever new script or process you're using that allows you to put multiple AfDs into one DELSORT list, it has lost wikilinking the individual AfD's (or their corresponding articles) in the edit summary. Is there any possibility of regaining that functionality? I have uploaded information to the Dewar Trophy page, which had been removed by yourself, which has been authorised and approved by the Royal Automobile Club and the Dewar Technical Committee.
I have emailed Wikipedia to verify the source and permissions and have added a reference to the same effect on the page and in the talk section.
Please advise if I need to do anything else to verify this information upload, and contact me before automatically removing it.
Being new to Wikipedia I am unsure if whether there is anything further needing to be done to verify this page. Please advise rather than remove it!

I'll give it a try and if it works, at least you won't have to worry any more about any AfDs that I initiate :-) --Randykitty (talk) 13:46, 19 February 2013 (UTC)

Jackie Devereaux wiki page deletion
I have personal knowlege that the Jackie Devereaux webpage is false and misleading. I am new as a user to Wikipedia and have not yet learned how to make these comments known properly. The Jackie Devereaux wiki page violates the provision for advertising as Devereaux is using it to falsify her experience. It also violates the Living Bio provisions. My email is pjsandsand08@yahoo.com if there are any questions. Personally, I am offended that wikipedia has left this up so long. The comments indicate that the editors are aware of the violations or at the least are concerned about the validity of the claims. It seems totally unfair that Wikipedia has allowed this to go on so long as it has. What must be done in order to make this correct and remove this violation? Are there instructions for me to follow to file a complaint somehow? Or is this message sufficient? I apologize if this seems offensive since I am not trying to be agreessive or antagonistic with anyone, just trying to make sense of the process. not to deleted my page "Propeller clock"
hi, In my point of view most of the people .mostly students search the word "propeller clock" instead of "persistence of vision" to use it for their projects.so my page would help them a lot in this matter. even i have given link of your page "persistence of vision" so they would also visit it for more details... think over it — Preceding unsigned comment added by Hasifast (talk • contribs) 19:46, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
Delsort tool
Hi Gene
I was wondering what AfD delsort tool you are using. I'm using User:Fox Wilson/delsort.js, but it only has a few catagories and only allows adding one category per edit. Any advice would be appreciated. - MrX 16:34, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- I'm using the same script with some cosmetic modifications. Clicking the "Delsort" menu item should prompt the user to type in which category. And yes, it's one category per edit. • Gene93k (talk) 16:46, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think I'm going to fork it and make some modifications that work for me. - MrX 16:50, 27 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi, could you oplease check this AfD? It was improperly closed and then re-opened after a while, and it looks like it is not listed in the appropriate AfD listings any more. Not being too familiar with these things, I'm not sure how to correct that. Many thanks! --Randykitty (talk) 10:15, 31 March 2013 (UTC)

Hi Gene93k,
Thank you for adding categories to the discussion! I thought it would be suitable for "News-related discussions" too, since it is of interest to media both its news value and for the later arrest of a journalist in Bangladesh on account of the case. Did I add it correctly? All I did was add the template to the discussion. Is that right? Thank you, Crtew (talk) 06:12, 13 April 2013 (UTC)

appealing revert of B Corporation entry to a redirect
Hi - I wrote a brief wiki entry for http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B_corporation?redirect=no but you reverted the redirect. A "Benefit Corporation" and a "B Corporation" are meaningfully and significantly different things (although related in spirit). A "Benefit Corporation" is a legal form in 15 or so states. A "B Corporation" is a certification (worldwide) by a non-profit entity (B Lab) (like LEED certification for building or Fair Trade certification for Coffee and other agricultural products). They're meaningfully different and "B Corporations" are of general interest (see these articles from today for example about B Corporations that have nothing to do with Benefit Corporations): http://www.guardian.co.uk/sustainable-business/best-for-the-world-the-ranking http://www.forbes.com/sites/susanadams/2013/04/17/12-companies-considered-best-for-the-world/ http://www.businessweek.com/articles/2013-04-17/finding-the-worlds-best-social-entrepreneurs#r=auth-s
I'm new to wikipedia so I don't know if this is the appropriate way to appeal a reversal of something I created so please instruct me if there's something else I should do.
Also, we will expand the entry for "B Corporation" significantly if that's what it takes to "stick".

Rajiv Jain
Greetings,
I am a frequent user of Wikipedia since 1st December 2009 when I need to research on people, practices, places and things. I would like to start by sharing my deep appreciation for the great work that others like you and yourself are doing to maintain the quality and accuracy of articles on Wikipedia.
While I appreciate the continuous necessity to review the contents on your pages, I was unpleasantly surprised to see Mr. Rajiv Jain (cinematographer) nominated for deletion from your esteemed pages.
I request you to kindly peruse through what I have enumerated below and then make an informed decision on the way forward on this page and his presence there.
Towards this attempt, I would like to share with you a few reasons why I believe that Mr. Rajiv Jain’s candidature befits his presence on Wikipedia.
1. Below mentioned are a few sources that will point out his contributions to Indian cinema
a. http ://www.gomolo.com/about-rajiv-jain/16993
b. http://www.ranker.com/list/movies-with-cinematography-by-rajiv-jain/reference
c. http:// www.gomolo.com/about-rajiv-jain/16993
d. http://movie-stars.us/filmography/rajiv%20jain.aspx
e. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1203010/
2. I have edited this page and have removed links to his website, interviews, articles or blog (which some have commented to have been created personally by himself)
3. IMDB (internet Movie Database) is a credible site which enumerates the work of notable contributors and related cinema releases. I request you to kindly credit them with the professional respect and consideration that one would give to honourable peers. While IMDB may not equate to notability or nomination to a celebrity club, it can undoubtedly be considered as the most reliable data base on films and key contributors to the industry
4. As a regular user of Wikipedia, I can assure you of the presence of many other names that would earn lower eligibility to be on the coveted Wikipedia pages. These less than worthy nominations are present from all industries viz; politics, international relations, the corporate world, Bollywood and more importantly, Indian cinematographers. I would of course refrain from being rude enough to mention their names or nominate them for deletion. In the event you do proceed with your decision to do away with Mr. Jain’s presence on your pages, I would certainly ask you to peruse through the following link and proceed with appropriate due diligence: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Indian_cinematographers
5. I request you to kindly Google about him using ‘RAJEEV JAIN CINEMATOGRAPHER’ as keywords for your search. I assure you that you will be able to read a lot of information about him in the form of write ups, interviews, videos on You tube, his working stills etcetera
6. Mr. Jain has worked with notablable film Producers / Directors like like Aziz Mirza, Chandrakant Kulkarni, Ketan Mehta, Makrand Deshpande, Late Mukul S. Anand, Nitin Chandrakant Desai, Rajiv Rai, Satish Kaushik, Shyam Benegal, Subhash Ghai and Wanuri Kahiu, who are themselves present on Wikipedia.
7. While I have edited his page to only include professional essentials, I would like to point out that the contents on his page were not very different from the content on the Wikipedia pages of other cinematographers
a. I do not think it will be criminal to mention his wife and daughters’ names on his page as a person’s success at work is fuelled by the support, faith and love of his family. Besides, many other cinematographers have their spousal and children’s details mentioned on their pages.
i. His daughter Abigail Jain is a popular Indian television actor who has a Wikipedia page to herself.
ii. His daughter Kimberly also had a Wikipedia page, which has now been discontinued as she has taken a brief brake to complete her high school education
8. While I appreciate the spirit behind the freedom available to anyone to nominate personalities / articles for deletion from Wikipedia, I would like to share a recommendation that you also put in place a method to control nominations that are made with mala fide intent (of which I am certain is this case) I realise that my notes and comments are lengthy and therefore appreciate your time and patience to read through it. I look forward to an informed decision on the matter. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Maniksh (talk • contribs) 19:31, 28 April 2013 (UTC)

Contested deletion for Jason Thomas Scott
Thank you for your work to ensure Wikipedia's neutrality and accuracy. As per your concerns regarding the page of Jason Thomas Scott, I state the following:
Jason Thomas Scott is a widely recognized contribution to modern television production. Several independent and approved sources, including the Denver Post, Yahoo!, and IMDB (for filmography purposes) have been added to the page to prove notability and verification. Additionally, Scott's active membership and involvement with the Producers Guild of America [[6]] has been added to the article with a source directly to the PGA's official magazine mentioning his membership[2]. If you have any more concerns, please let me know and I will do my best to further verify and source the notability and accuracy of this article. (talk) --Jss1857 (talk) 20:14, 10 June 2013 (UTC)

Opednews deletion

http://open.salon.com/blog/stuartbramhall/2013/03/19/blatant_censorship_at_oped_news
The wikipedia entry for Opednews appears to have been authored by Rob Kall? The claims "progressive/liberal news and antiwar appear to contradict owner Kalls claims on Quantcast: "OpEdNews.com (OEN) is a tough progressive website, supporting values that are really dead center American, like fairness, democracy, justice, protection of our national resources and commons, and preferring to support humans before corporations and religions. OEN is more than a media or blog site. OEN is an activism and advocacy empowerment site designed to be used, for free by individuals and non-profit groups and organizations".
The crux of my case for deletion is can a website/business claim to advocate progressive / liberal ideals and simultaneously be a censor? Can a site and site owner profit financially via claims of fairness and supporting humans while simultaneouly censoring, bannishing, erasing articles and even censoring writers personal websites via Google and Bing take-down requests (abuse bots)?
Again, owner Rob Kall's claims on wikipedia (encyclopedia) OEN page: "OEN is more than a media or blog site. OEN is an activism and advocacy empowerment site". Here are examples of "activism", "advocacy empowerment" on OEN website:

This is 'free speech liberalism' Rob Kall Opednews-Tyrant-style. Rob's kiss-butt, Meryl Ann, call's this 'selectively smorgasboarding'. These authors and articles were good enough and interesting enough to publish on the Internet (published); then Rob and Meryl took them down in fits of rage at the writers. Such authors and their articles are "too honest" and frankly, Rob and Meryl make more money taking the articles down... The people below take turns being 'main headlines' and 'their work' generally is not in the 'top ten based on pageviews'. But the people below are Democrat-Duopoly-friendly and extremely corporate-friendly. If you do not believe me, try it yourself. Helpful tip - do not pay to be giving them free content, they should pay you for your research and writing. Try it out, keep all of your money and do not buy into crisis like paying to save 'freedom itself, creativity itself, free-speech itself, etc.' These concepts do not exist in any way, shape or form - such as EIN, IRS 990's, 501-c-3 proof, etc. No, in lieu of these is a mere illegal scam charity sans tax-evader.
When confronted by evidence such as this, Rob Kall will sometimes have his Webmaster temporarily put the archived pages and author’s profiles back up – temporarily. Just because some links work today does not mean they were not, in their entirety, broken (on purpose) 23 May 2013.
In 90 says or 6 months, most or all of this will be erased and ogooglebar. From that point on, you will never see it again. This is the real Rob Kall, not the clever scam confidence crap he spews to get ‘donations’…
Donations? Rob has employees but no Federal Government EIN, no evidence of IRS 990 tax filings (it is a crime for a charity to not show you the books). No 501-4c registrations, just Kall’s ‘word’ that OEN is a ‘charity’. No independent charity watch proof of anything whatsoever – again, just Kall’s blarney and pretense of faux brass cojones. You want to donate to that and tell your accountant to take the deduction? Solely based on the ‘honorable’ word of a scam charity con-artiste con censor?

While Kirkus is a paid reviewer, they have written many bad reviews of books. They did not have to give his book a positive review. 3. The MWSA review is not a paid review. 4. Do a scholar search and you will find many of the author's articles used by students from many academic institutions. 5. Since the magazine articles written by this author arte for print, a reference link could not be made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aaylan58 (talk • contribs) 02:42, 26 June 2013 (UTC)
Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Journal of Software Maintenance and Evolution: Research and Practice
I was considering adding this discussion to Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Academics and educators because of the issue of academic journals but as that list seems to be only?/primarily? about individuals I wasn't sure if it would be appropriate. You seemed like the perfect person to ask for an informed opinion. Thanks in advance. 24.151.116.25 (talk) 23:47, 28 June 2013 (UTC)
- The academics and educators category is for people, namely professors, researchers, scientists, etc. A case can be made for listing an academic journal under literature. • Gene93k (talk) 23:51, 28 June 2013 (UTC)

Re: SOTI Inc. Page Deletion
Hi Gene93k,
Thanks for your review of the SOTI Inc. page I've created.
I have tried to keep the content very factual and non-promotional, as my goal is not to create an advertisement on Wikipedia, but instead a basic company page. Could you let me know what you saw as advertorial? I will revise it immediately.
Today (7/9), I edited the content to remove what another user pointed out may sound promotional. I hope this assists keeping the page up.
I have tried following the same format as similar companies on the site: MobileIron and AirWatch.
Regarding significant articles, I want to provide the below coverage of SOTI from well respected journalists and publications. These articles are not reprinted press releases, and have editors tied to them.
The references in the page itself are not reprints of a press release. The InformationWeek piece is authored by a well respected journalist: Larry Seltzer
In addition, SOTI was the top scorer in a Network World review of Mobile Device Management vendors, available here: Network World - Top tools for BYOD management
I'd like to provide additional editorial features on the company and its solutions:
InformationWeek Education - Smartphones Hit Schools, MDM Vendors Don Thinking Caps
CMSwire - SOTI Releases MobiControl V10 to Manage Personal Devices in the Enterprise
eWeek - Soti Unveils MDM Platform MobiControl V10
Mobile Fanpage - Italian review of SOTI solution
Computing Canada - Last Year, We All Talked About a BYOD Problem, It's Time That We Acknowledge That Our Biggest Mobile Problems Are Now Under Control
InformationWeek BYTE - BYOD Tablets, Smartphones: About To 'Disrupt' The Classroom?
THE Journal - Westbury School District Deploys Mobile Device Management System
As time goes on, I'd like to expand the page to include more products, awards won, and additional information- but I wanted to start with a simple upload first.
I'd appreciate any help you can provide. Thank you!
