Hello, Mssemantics and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. If you haven't done so already, we encourage you to go through our training for students.
If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}}
before the question. Please also read this helpful advice for students.
Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.
Your instructor or professor may wish to set up a course page, if your class doesn't already have one. It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}}
on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and aid your communication with them.
We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Valfontis (talk) 16:59, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Valfontis! Thanks for your message. I've helped professors use Wikipedia in class, but (alas!) I am not using Wikipedia for class projects.--Mssemantics (talk) 19:22, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi! Yes sorry, forgive me for templating you! I was trying to track down a bunch of students from the University of Washington and make sure they all got welcomed. I had to block some of their group accounts so I wanted to make sure everyone knew where to go for help! Several of them signed up with WikiProject Feminism during the same time frame you did. Happy editing! Valfontis (talk) 19:59, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks Valfontis! I appreciate your efforts to welcome the students. (I'm at UW, too.) They may be students I spoke to during a guest lecture. I actually just stopped into their class to see their final projects and to share your advice. :) --Mssemantics (talk) 20:34, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
Congrats
Hey there, Just saw the news about your new grant. Congrats! You'll be doing very important work, and I'll be eager to read up on your findings :) If I or others in the New England Wikimedians usergroup can support you in any way with this project, please don't hesitate to reach out. All the best, Girona7 (talk) 03:36, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hey Girona7! Thank you so much for your kind message and offer. I'd love to interview any and all Wikimedians in the New England group who self-identify as women. :) --Mssemantics (talk) 04:08, 15 June 2014 (UTC)
- Sure thing! I'll shoot a note to our membership and send you the contact info of those who would like to participate. Girona7 (talk) 20:38, 17 June 2014 (UTC)
- FYI, we're starting to get this going again so good place to post your notice: Wikipedia:WikiProject Countering systemic bias/Gender bias task force. Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 22:34, 29 June 2014 (UTC)
- Done! Thanks Carolmooredc!--Mssemantics (talk) 05:06, 30 June 2014 (UTC)
- The archiver just archived your message. If you are still taking interviewees, I'll put it back in action. Carolmooredc (Talkie-Talkie) 02:30, 2 August 2014 (UTC)
Wikimania 2014
Hi!
My name is Victor and I'm a storyteller and video producer for the Wikimedia Foundation. I'll be looking to capture stories about Wikimedians at Wikimania in London in a week. Here is an example of the kind of thing that I'm aiming to do. I saw that you're attending Wikimania and I was wondering if you might have some time to talk about what do you on Wikimedia projects. Anyway let me know if you are interested, I'll be at Wikimania from the 6th-10th of August and would need maybe 30 minutes of your time. I can answer any questions you may have. I’m best reached at vgrigas(at)wikimedia.org
Thanks!

Last call for opinions on RFC at Wikipedia page for page protection extension. User:Pundit is in support of increasing gender equality at Wikipedia and another user is opposed to User:Pundit's efforts. RFC ends on the 14th. LawrencePrincipe (talk) 19:41, 9 August 2014 (UTC)
