Question out of curiosity[edit]

I recently heard a telling of Ms. Norman's appearance at Wembley Stadium on June 11th of 1988. She closed out the 12 hour, multiple act concert with a performance of Amazing Grace. In the telling it was portrayed as a remarkable and notable event in light of her inclusion in the event along with so many contemporary music artists. I was wondering why her appearance and performance at this event is not noted in the article? I understand that it may not be of the same stature as her other musical endeavors which would answer my query. Also, I'm not saying it should be included if it does not meet the standards here at Wikipedia. Thoughts? (and thanks)THX1136 (talk) 13:52, 13 December 2018 (UTC)

She's mentioned at the Wikipedia article about that concert, Nelson Mandela 70th Birthday Tribute, so I think it's worth mentioning it here in "Mid-career (1980–89)". There are plenty of sources for it, e.g. this in The Daily Telegraph. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 03:08, 14 December 2018 (UTC)

surely there is a more representative picture?[edit]

I suggest an album cover from one of her Seventies-releases that features her on the cover. 50.111.49.250 (talk) 23:41, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

We can only use free images. I just swapped in a more recent (and more flattering IMO) photo from Commons. Funcrunch (talk) 23:52, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
Whether that image is more flattering is a matter of taste. I suggest it's unsuited as a lead image because it's merely a low resolution crop of an image already in the article. The previous image, File:Jessye Norman.jpg, should be restored. -- Michael Bednarek (talk) 01:27, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
Well yes, image composition and attractiveness is largely a matter of taste of course (hence my "IMO"). With regard to the low res crop, I've now swapped in a higher res crop I took from a different photo at the same event. Funcrunch (talk) 07:04, 2 October 2019 (UTC)
