Proposed deletion of Tadawale Sammat Wagholi
[edit]A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tadawale Sammat Wagholi, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- utterly WP:POV, littered with WP:PEACOCK, and containing no content which might be salvaged for a proper article
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. On editing your articles to WP standards
[edit]Greetings! I see you've added a large number of articles on subjects of Indian history. It's great to see your enthusiasm and extensive contributions, but as it stands many of your articles need a lot of work to conform to Wikipedia standard formats, making them easier for all readers to access and understand. I've done some basic cleanup of some of your articles, but there is a lot of content I don't want to edit since I'm not familiar with all the subjects. If you're willing, I can provide examples as to how you can format your articles to improve their utility to readers. I'll put a Watch on this page, so you can just respond to me here and I'll be able to read it. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:16, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
Copy editing tags
[edit]Hi there
I just reverted your removal of a maintenance tag from the Mohite (Maratha clan) article. These tags aren't intended as a criticism of the article - they're there to let other editors who are interested in cleanup and copyediting find them. That article, for example, needs a little work on capitalization, sentence structure, spelling, and flow. If you want to fix these yourself by all means go ahead; otherwise please leave the tag in place to help other editors come along and make improvements. Gonzonoir (talk) 10:42, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
Mane
[edit]I have moved Mane's to Mane (clan). I will let you fix the incoming links. You already knew that Mohite's was wrong. Why did you repeat the error? And where on earth were you taught to use 's
to make a plural? — RHaworth (Talk | contribs) 14:02, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi
[edit]Hi there. I noticed you create a page relating to Karnataka, which showed up here : User:AlexNewArtBot/KarnatakaSearchResult. When you create an article, please create a talk page and add this {{WP India}}. THis will add the page to Wikiproject India, and help us in improving the projects. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 16:10, 5 April 2009 (UTC)
Shitole
[edit]Hi - I did some editing on your article but in a number of places I was not sure of your meaning. You can improve the article by clarifying or perhaps asking another person who is also familiar with the topic to read it. Alice (talk) 14:40, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
I saw you added a lot of info to Maratha clan system that was lengthy enough to be its own article. I've chopped it and pasted it into a new article, List of Maratha notables by clan. Again, I would request that you follow Wikipedia formats, as it took me the better part of an hour to remove unnecessary bolding, CAPITALISATION, and to put <ref> </ref> markups around all the references which you left in the middle of the article rather than footnoting. You bring a lot of good info to Indian topics on Wikipedia, but it'd be far easier for everyone if you would take a little time to properly format and footnote your information. Further note that, to keep the new page on topic, I removed a lot of information that wasn't directly related to listing Maratha notables. Again, this sort of information, say, general info about the Bhoite clan, can be linked in by just typing the [[ ]] around a word, rather than explaining what the Bhoite clan is, or who King Shivaji is, every time the subject comes up. Again, thanks for your work, but please consider the standard formats, especially footnotes and wikilinking, when contributing. MatthewVanitas (talk) 15:38, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Royal Clans of Kshatriya Maratha
[edit]A tag has been placed on Royal Clans of Kshatriya Maratha requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ╟─TreasuryTag►contribs─╢ 10:34, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
PLEASE follow Wikipedia standards for references, copyediting, etc
[edit]Again, your enthusiasm and interest in Indian topics is greatly appreciated. However, please familiarise yourself with basic, basic Wikipedia formats and procedures. I have spent many hours attempting to bring your articles into line with WP standards. These changes would not take up any more of your time if you incorporate them into your future articles, and would make things far easier for everyone else. Among the suggestions:
- Do not bold words just because you think they are important. Words should only be bolded with ''' in a few set cases, such as the first time the title term appears in the article.
- Refrain from biased terms such as "hero", "Motherland", "elite", "glorious", etc. Please stick to the basic facts about a given person, and leave it up to the reader to decide if they were good/bad, etc.
- Format your references following standards used in other articles. Further, if you're actually looking at the book as you write, why not use the <ref> </ref> tags to place a proper footnote? Currently you just lump all your sources in at the end, so we have no clue which book you derived a particular fact from.
- Look at your writing and make sure you're using form consistently. From one to the next you write "Clan:" and then in the next section "Origin: -" or "Lineage - " instead of just using a ":" like you first used.
Please consider employing these changes in your future articles, as it will add greatly to the quality of your valued work here. MatthewVanitas (talk) 00:58, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
Please remember to add Categories to your articles
[edit]Greetings, your new article Other Notable Maratha Clan does not have a category. Please remember to add a category to each article you begin (or find already uncategorised). Otherwise it will be difficult for interested parties to find your article. Also please recall to format your new articles in the Wiki format. MatthewVanitas (talk) 23:43, 16 July 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Prominent Marathas Ruling Centres
[edit]The article Prominent Marathas Ruling Centres has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unsourced list without context of what a ruling center is - seat of kings, seat of warlords, seat of ministers etc? There weren't so many Maratha kingdoms, so the context of the list is unclear.

Speedy deletion nomination of Alutedar
[edit]A tag has been placed on Alutedar, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent. If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Please stop adding "Shrimant Raje" to names
[edit]Greetings, please refrain from adding honorifics such as "Shrimant Raje" to names, as you did in Bhoite. This is unnecessary, bulky, and often breaks wikilinks. Also please recall that for names to be added to a list, they should be bluelinks (existing wiki articles), otherwise we can't tell if they're notable or not. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:39, 30 December 2010 (UTC)
Reply : why you are talking and reverting articles of History ? Kindly know that all articles of maratha history like pawar, bhonsale,Gaikwad, etc. includes several titles like amir-ul-umrao,Shrimant raja,umadut-ul-mulk,Jahagirdar His Highness and so on.In Reality Bhoite clan hold all these titles as per their records but i have added only Shrimant Raje Title. You should know that all these titles are given to them by the people. About notables of clan, they are mentioned in ebooks of google,Otherwise there are such people who can be addable to the notables list.I have written articles on them but you had reverted them like janrao Bhoite ,Shivaji Bhoite, etc. However,i can write articles on all of them.Kindly ,contact here.
- Which reversions of mine are you complaining about? I've done a lot of work on a lot of very poorly edited and unreferenced India articles, so if there is anywhere where you think I'm making things worse rather than far, far better, let me know. So far as any articles you've had deleted: if you write articles that fail to meet WP standards it's nobody else's fault if they get deleted. Regarding titles: the titles listed in Bhoite did nothing to help explain the individuals, especially since every single name had the same title. I'm concerned that you're covering topics you have emotional investment in and then getting upset when people make purely NPOV changes. I wouldn't know a Bhoite if one walked up and punched me in the jaw, so it's not like I have any reason to be conspiring to diminish them, whereas I'm concerned that you (and not just you, but many other editors on India topics) are too attached to the subjects you're covering and POV promoting them. But that's just my take on the matter, and I am pretty dang sure neutral editors would support my changes. MatthewVanitas (talk) 06:17, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Please stop adding uncited, poorly-copyedited material
[edit]Greetings, I noted at Ranoji Bhoite, which had just undergone cleanup, you came and added material such as this:
“ | His Descendant later become feudal Lords,Senapatis,Main Maratha Manakaris( Ghorpade,Bhoite,Nimbalkar,Angre etc. Prominent Families ),Landlords,Saranjamdars to serve Maratha Empire.Bhoite Hailing from Satara District Villages are closest Brotherhood and Ranojis Direct Descendants. | ” |
This section is totally unsourced, poor punctuation (spaces go after commas), excessive capitalisation, etc. Your enthusiasm for Maratha topics is great, but it's marred by your refusal to provide proper footnotes, or apply even basic attempts at copyediting. This is not an issue of English proficiency, as you seem quite comfortable with the language, but rather an issue of your not looking at your own work to ensure it is properly formatted.
Please continue to edit, as your familiarity with the topic is most helpful, but please comply with Wikipedia standards for referencing, neutrality, and copyediting. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:41, 10 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]I read your opinion.yes,it is helpful to me.I have made mistake in article Ranoji Bhoite regarding reference list and i will improve it.Thanks a lot.
Important points on grammar/proofreading
[edit]Greetings, again, please be more careful in your proofreading. I don't at all mean to condescend, but to clarify the copyediting norms on Wikipedia:
- There is a space after each period: "India is a country. Mumbai is a city."
- There is a space after each comma: "India is a country, but Mumbai is a city."
- Only proper nouns are capitalised.
Note your recent edit:
- Sardar Ranojirao Bhoite was faithful of Peshwa Bajirao I as he had taken active and important part in the Battles of Maratha Empire i.e. over 41 unbeaten Battles in which Bajirao was Leader.Out of them, major battels including Malwa(December 1723),Dhar-1724,Aurangabad-1724,Battle of Palkhed(February 1728),Ahmedabad-1731,Udaipur-1736,Firozabad-1737,Delhi-1737,Bhopal-1738,Battle of Vasai(May 17,1739).
You didn't leave spaces after commas or periods, and you capitalised random common nouns which are not proper nouns in this context. Nouns should be capitalised if they are part of names of people/places/things. So "Ranoji was in the Battle of Panipat.", but "Ranoji fought in a great battle in 1724."
Remember: any copyediting errors you introduce are an imposition on the time of other editors who must correct them. And if added text has many such errors, editors might simply delete them as too time-consuming to correct, if the original editor did not bother to take care to do so. Please feel free to contact me with any copyediting questions. Again, your knowledge and enthusiasm is valued, but your contributions would be greatly magnified if they are properly copyedited for readability. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:39, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks
[edit]Thank you very Much.I understood these laws however i made this mistakes in hurry for quickly posting of my content.Thank you for your kind nature and helpful attitude again.
Ongoing punctuation errors
[edit]Again, your puncutation errors are so distinctive and consistent that your edits are recognisable on that basis alone. Please look at other articles to note how punctuation is used:
- There is not space before a comma(,), but there is one following it.
- There is a space after each period (.)
- There is a space after each colon (:) or semicolon (;)
- In parentheses, there are spaces before and after the parentheses close, but the words inside the parentheses abut the parentheses (like this).
Please, please use proper punctuation and capitalision in your edits, or you are simply causing more work for other people. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:05, 22 March 2011 (UTC)
Please use the Edit Summary line as you edit
[edit]Greetings, you have a bad habit of making many separate edits (as opposed to using Preview and then saving all your changes at the end), as well as rarely using Edit Summary. Please use the Edit Summary box below your editing window to explain each edit: "added reference", "fixed typo", "split into sub-section", etc. so we can tell what you're doing without undue effort. Thanks, MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:46, 11 April 2011 (UTC)
Yet again, copyediting and Edit Summaries
[edit]Greetings, yet, yet again: your edits to Bhoite and other articles are severely compromised by your refusal to use Wikipedia format, and your extensive copyediting errors. These copyediting errors are not an issue of English fluency, it's an issue of carelessness. It does not require English fluency to realise that there should be spaces after periods, that random words should not be capitalised, that excessive bolding is not WP format, etc. If you made the same mistakes throughout, I'd wonder if there were a misunderstanding with English copyediting, but since you leave spaces after the period most of the time, I reckon that the other times you just didn't bother to even glance over your own work to make sure if didn't look bad.
Further, despite repeated reminders you continue to fail to provide an Edit Summary; this, combined with your habit of not using the "Preview" button (which would also allow you to notice your copyediting errors) resulting in frequent saves every few minutes, makes it very difficult to track what changes are being made and why you're doing it.
I again urge you to read up on Wikipedia copyediting, and/or take a look at other established Wikipedia articles to make sure you have a feel for how articles are formatted and phrased. If you continue to not apply Wikipedia format, and to push a biased POV on Maratha issues that is not clearly backed up by published sources (and preferably online resources which we can actually verify), I will be forced to report you as a disruptive editor, at which point someone will probably have to re-write the whole Bhoite article, and several other Maratha clans, since the copyediting is so rough and sourcing often inaccessible.
Please feel free to write me on this issue, and I hope you can look back over the concerns expressed and agree that there is room to improve your work by applying standardised WP processes, which would make your work more polished, credible, and productive. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:42, 6 May 2011 (UTC)
Problem
[edit]I am surprised by your issues raised here.( I will be forced to report you as a disruptive editor, at which point someone will probably have to re-write the whole Bhoite article, and several other Maratha clans, since the copyediting is so rough and sourcing often inaccessible.) Why you want to delete all my work? You are said that my references are inaccessible.I have one solution on it as i can provide you scanned copies of all the documents which are accessible.I am going to scan all these resources to report you.If you want to make an infobox for the section of Details you also can do it.In this regard help me besides reporting me and my work is disruptive.I am hoping help from you not insult of my work and more thing that there many articles on wikipidia which should be maintatined by peoples like you.
- I fail to see how this comes as a surprise; note above that over the last two years I have written you, repeatedly, lengthy descriptions of how your edits are not up to standard, and suggested how to improve them. I've also, on numerous occasions, fixed your edits and explained in my Edit Summaries exactly what and why I did so, only to have you continue to ignore and continue to create more mistakes and mess for other people to fix. You are simply not paying attention to what you type, you are continually failing to provide any explanation for what you are doing (such as using Edit Summaries), and frankly I'm not sure that many of your assertions in the texts, particular about Maratha Kshatriya status which you state in many articles, is borne out by academic consensus. In short, I feel you have been repeatedly, and generally very politely, reminded of what you need to fix by other editors, and have consistently ignored all such advice. Do you disagree with this observation? MatthewVanitas ([[User
talk:MatthewVanitas|talk]]) 08:09, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]I have noticed what you want from my writing.Next , i will do following things : I will cite references to every possible sentence provided that referance is accessible. I will write carefully and accurately to resolve later arising issues. I will take helpful advices from editors like you which are very helpful to me Thank you again.
Maratha kshatriya status is not borne out by academic consensus at all.You refer only few google books but not all accurate books which you have be seen to clear your mind about my article.Lets take example of Ghorpade : http://books.google.co.in/books?id=iP433CnEW_gC&pg=PA24&dq=Maratha+Ghorpade&hl=en&ei=XADFTcvJK8OJrAfG5Oi-BA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CE4Q6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=Maratha%20Ghorpade&f=false and i will shortly give you list of all references i have made on my articles regarding kshatriya claims of Marathas.
- If you're going to cite GoogleBooks, instead of pasting bare links, please use http://reftag.appspot.com to convert it into a cite automatically. It'll save you time and format the cite with maximum neatness. If you post it in the middle of a text, as opposed to as a footnote, just remove the "ref" tags and leave the "cite" tags.
- In any case though, this is not a discussion about Kshatriya status; that's just one example of my concerns about your near-total lack of online-available cites despite copious materials online. The fact remains that for over two years you have consistently inappropriately bolded and capitalised words, jammed the Maratha flag into every article you could, added lengthy honorifics for no valid academic reason, written large amount of totally uncited text, consistently failed to apply Wikipedia format to Sources sections in favour of your own made-up format, and punctuated your articles with reckless abandon leaving extra spaces and missing spaces everywhere. It is literally to the point that I can look at a given article and say "Yes, I bet Starrahul has been editing here" simply by the continually repeated errors you tend to make. Again, this does not come from lack of fluency, or from beginner's mistakes; you have consistently for two years edited in a very careless matter, and then add insult to injury by removing "copyedit" tags from articles desperately in need of copyediting. I can think of few possible explanations for your behaviour other than that you simply don't care what your writing looks like, and are unwilling to refine and correct your own work. Do I understand correctly? Again, I've been writing you about exactly these issues for two years now. MatthewVanitas (talk) 08:30, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- Look, if you're willing to listen to advice, and you can judge from what you've seen of my work as to whether you think I'm solid in my understanding of Wiki formatting.
- Let us pick one article you'd like to clean up and thoroughly cite; nothing fancy at all, just pick a basic clan article or something.
- Let's work together to copyedit it, ensuring that there are no spaces before periods or commas, and a space after each, and other such simply copyediting tasks, like removing excess bolding or capitalistions.
- Let's work up an infobox for Maratha clans; that will move the "standardised" info about devaks, colors, flags, etc. into a convenient box on the right margin, so that the flow of narrative (story) text is not broken up by "statistical" data.
- On said article, let's see if we can trim out any suspect footnotes, and improve the sourcing with academic works from GoogleBooks. I note that many of the books you cite actually are on GoogleBooks, but I can't tell if you also have the book physically, or if you yourself read the page on GoogleBooks and simply did not provide a link to the page online. Again, note that whenever you are looking at a book on GoogleBooks, you can paste the URL in your address bar into http://reftag.appspot.com and automatically generate a perfect footnote.
- Look, if you're willing to listen to advice, and you can judge from what you've seen of my work as to whether you think I'm solid in my understanding of Wiki formatting.
- If that sounds helpful to you, pick an article, perhaps Bhoite, let's work on it over the next few days to improve it. I'm going to bed now, but you can start by just a basic copyedit, ensuring there are no spaces before commas or periods, but one after each, no excess capitalistions or bolding etc. And over the weekend I can help you make an infobox to conveniently arrange clan statistics/data. How does that sound? MatthewVanitas (talk) 08:45, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Vey GOOD by all means.--Starrahul (talk) 11:38, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- I've made some changes at Bhoite, mostly in formatting. I've cleaned the "infobox" (actually just a box, but we can convert it to a true infobox later), added columns to the footnotes, and converted all of your sources to standardised citations using http://reftag.appspot.com . I cannot tell you how simply amazing a tool Reftag is; it turns a GoogleBooks URL into a full citation in a matter of seconds. Once we move on to other articles, you'll want to use Reftag to clean up your citations.
- Here is one thing that had been bothering me: many of your Source citations were clearly cut-paste from GoogleBooks. Why did you not link to said portion of the book so that any reader can go there and see the original source of your information?
- In any case, in the meantime could you please do a careful copyedit of Bhoite as part of our collaboration? Please ensure that: there is no space before each punctuation mark, but a space after each punctuation mark. Parentheses are an exception, there is a space before parentheses begin (like so), but not space around the text inside or between the closing of the parentheses and the punctuation mark. "Ref" tags immediately follow punctuation, and there is no space between ref tags, or around the text inside it. For capitalisation: remember the basic rule is that generally the names of people/places are capitalised, but not other common nouns. I'm not trying to condescend, but these are errors you commonly make, but I am sure that if you simply turn a watchful eye to your writing, you will be able to correct them. Everybody makes typing errors when writing, the difference comes in checking your own work after writing.
- For example, you have this phrase: Jivajirao Bhoite, Maratha General of Maratha Armies in their North Indian Expansion. The first General Who Crossed Yamuna River riding on his elephant near Haridwar. The following words are not names of people/places, so should be decapitalised: general, armies, expansion, general, crossed. Do you follow?
- One last thing: go to Bhoite and click the "History" tab. Note how every time I've edited you can clearly tell what I did since I provided an Edit Summary, whereas all of your edits are unlabeled and their changes cannot be understood without looking at each draft. Please start using Edit Summary, which only adds a matter of seconds to your edit, but makes it far easier to coordinate since I can see what we're both doing.
- Bhoite is looking better and better, so let's continue to collaborate. MatthewVanitas ([[User

- Greetings, I've done extensive work finding the links to the books in your footnotes on GoogleBooks and formatting them into proper cites using http://reftag.appspot.com . Please contribute to this effort by copyediting the body of the work; there are actually very few spelling errors, but considerable errors of punctuation and capitalisation. Please note how much cleaner and accessible your footnotes are now; your efforts in this cleanup are appreciated. MatthewVanitas (talk) 02:19, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Serious concerns about your sourcing; please explain at Talk:Bhoite#Serious_concerns_about_sourcing
[edit]You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.
.
I may be misunderstanding, but I am coming to think that the vast bulk of the many footnotes you provide do not actually mention the Bhoites (as a clan) specifically by name. If you cannot substantiate that academics have examined the Bhoites specifically as a class (not just a number of individuals by that name), then it calls into question the entire validity of the whole article, and of quite a few other articles you've written.
Please respond to the concerns at the linked talk page. MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:48, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
The following are relatively popular articles with substantial copyediting, clarity, and sourcing problems. I'm diving into them to try to address the issues, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:46, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
Feedback on Ratoji Bhoite Patil
[edit]Greetings Starrahul. Good to see you back at work! Saw your new article, and looks a good start. Just had a few pieces of feedback for you.
- Make sure to add {{WPINDIA}} to the Talk page of your articles to make sure they get listed in the statistics for WikiProject India.
- Nice work on the footnote formatting; are you using RefTag now? Saves a lot of time and looks great, doesn't it?
- A few points on copyediting. I'm not critiquing the non-use of "a" and "the" since that's acceptable in Indian English, but you still have some punctuation and capitaliasation bits to watch for:
“ | Ratoji Bhoite Patil , was Maratha Sardar who served Bahamani Sultanates of Deccan. He then joined to Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosales Swarajya Campaign in 17th Century. He was ancestor of Bhoite families of Tadawale. Ratoji was Patil of Tadawale [1] and Surrounding areas concluding villages of current North Koregaon area. He also have command over Fort Nandgiri ( Kalyangad ). He started his career as shiledar of Sultanates as his forefathers were. His Descendants were to play an important part in Marathas subsequent history. | ” |
- There are no spaces before commas, so no space after Patil
- "Sardar" should be "sardar", as it's not being used within a name, but just as a noun.
- No need to say "Chhatrapati Shivaji Bhosales"; the man's name, and article title, is "Shivaji". And it's a possessive but you don't have an "'s" at the end, so need that.
- No need to capitalise "Surrounding", it is not a proper noun (or a noun at all).
- You probably want to wikilink Bahamani, Shivaji, Swarajya, Bhoite, Koregaon, and shildear.
- No need to capitalise "Descendants"
- "Marathas" should be "Marathas'", since it's a plural "Marathas" which is possessing something. If one Maratha has something, it's "Maratha's", if multiple, "Marathas'".
Hope this helps. Feel free to ping my anytime for feedback, and ensure you use Edit Summary to explain each change you make, every time. MatthewVanitas (talk) 04:50, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Books LLC, and citations in general
[edit]Greetings, your footnotes are really looking good overall, and your tighter copyediting is much appreciated. Just had a couple quick comments on sourcing.
- "Books LLC" is a Wikipedia mirror, that is, a company that makes money blindly copying Wikipedia articles and selling them. They are not a Reliable Source, and should never be footnoted to.
- Similarly, you linked to a foundation in Mumbai for one sentence; that same sentence already had footnotes to two good academic books, so I removed the Mumbai foundation as its of dubious reliability, and your point is already well-cited by the two other books.
- Leading me to a last point: there is generally no need to add more than one or two footnotes to a given point. Having six footnotes for a relatively non-controversial point adds clutter, and looks a bit "desparate". I would suggest that, when you have multiple sources to prove a given point, you select one or two of the clearest and most detailed, and use just those two. Also, if you note you're using source "A" a lot, and on the next sentence sources, A, B, and C support it, you can just use B and C for that footnote, just to show a greater variety of sources and less reliance on a single source. Wikipedia debates are not won by sheer number of sources, but if points are challenged it's best to have just one or two good, strong cites, and if a challenge gets serious you can always find more quickly.
Your work is getting smoother and smoother, so it's good to have you back here, and I'm glad that we can communicate on these issues and keep the Maratha articles running smoothly. On a minor sidenote, do make sure you use the Edit Summary (the little box below your editing window) each time you hit Save, to explain what you're changing and why. Note that I always do so, so when you hit the "History" tab of an article you can clearly see what I changed and why. Looking forward to working further with out. MatthewVanitas (talk) 15:59, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Starrahul: use the "Edit Summary" line as you edit. This is becoming a very bad habit. Also, please use reliable sources.
[edit]Greetings, as I have pointed out in the past, you are not using the Edit Summary line which falls right below your editing window. Further, you also have a bad habit of making multiple small changes to the same section and hitting "Save" each time. Instead, consider using the "Preview" button to see what your changes look like, and only once you have a given section to your liking hit the "Save" button.
As it is, it is very difficult to get much use of the History tab on articles you edit, as each time you come in there is just a huge list of unexplained edits, dozens at a time. Please look at the history tab of any article you and I have edited, and see the difference, and how easy it is to understand the changes I'm making.
Further, recently you cited "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhati#Rajasthan" and "http://uqconnect.net/~zzhsoszy/ips/misc/bhati.html" in Bhoite. The first cannot be done because you can't cite Wikipedia on Wikipedia; it is circular logic to use a reference to prove its own claims. Secondly, the uqconnect site is clearly an amateur undertaking of no academic credibility, so not worth citing. Please refer to WP:Reliable sources to better understand what kind of sources are good to use.
I have been writing you about such issues for three years now, and you seem adamant about not learning about Wikipedia standards and not copyediting your own work. How do you expect to continue to contribute if you edit haphazardly, do not explain yourself to others, and use unreliable sources, or worse yet claim a source which does not actually back up your assertions? MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:33, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Your new article Trimbakrao Bapurao Bhoite Inamdar
[edit]Greetings, in your new article Trimbakrao Bapurao Bhoite Inamdar, you have not added any WP:Categories, and you should also add a WikiProject ({{WPINDIA}}) to the Talk page. These are very simple things for an editor of your experience, so please do remember to do them as you edit. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:36, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- Same deal with Loni Bhapkar. You do realise that if you do not add categories, it defaults to WP:UNCAT, and other editors are forced to spend their time fixing your mistakes? Instead, please take the literally less than 60 seconds required to add proper categories to every new article you produce. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:38, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
- I do note, though, that at Loni Bhapkar you did great work on formatting the footnotes. Definitely a really positive trend. I take it that was an easy fix to apply? The other issues I've brought up to you are likewise easy to fix. You could more than double your value as an editor in very short order simply by adding categories with each new article, adding a WikiProject, using Edit Summary each time you edit, and looking over your work for spelling or punctuation errors. These are small and easy things that good editors do every time they write, so you're at a point where if your enthusiasm can just be meshed with smoother editing practices, you'll be in a great position. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:42, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Footnotes looking great, buy copyediting needs watching
[edit]Oi Starrahul, your footnotes are looking really clean, and that's really keeping up the professionalism of the pages. Do note that the copyediting could use some work though. You've done good work avoiding some over-capitalisation, but you've also under-capitalised some additions:
- Rao bahadur raghoba mahadik of rajim
- Should be Rao Bahadur Raghoba Mahadik of Rajim; all words but "of" capitalised.
Recall: the names of people and places (as well as specific organisations) are capitalised. Please keep an eye for that as you go forward. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:38, 24 June 2011 (UTC)
Adding Wikiprojects
[edit]Greetings, your footnoting is a ton better, and though not perfect your copyediting is a lot tighter, so that's really improving your articles.
One very small and easy thing that would also help to keep your articles filed properly and quantified for Maharashtra statistics: on each Talk page, can you please recall to add {{WPINDIA|maharashtra=yes}} ? That will file your page under WikiProject India, so better allow folks to keep track of the number and quality of articles, as well as which deal with Maharashtra. Thanks! MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:46, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
- Note also I have created a new category, Category:People in the history of Maharashtra, so please use this category for any articles you produce (or existing articles you find) for biographies of people playing a role in Maharashtra history. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:52, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you
[edit]I am pleased to see the new category. Thank you again.
- Not a problem, I thought that would be the smoothest way to keep your biographies sorted. Did you also get the message about adding WPINDIA to the Talk pages? This will also be very helpful in ensuring your articles are counted in the statistics for India/Maharashtra articles. You can just copy-paste the coding I mention in the above post, onto each Talk page of each article you create (or have created that doesn't have it yet). Thanks for your help in "linking" all these subjects together, which really pays off in helping people find the info they need. MatthewVanitas (talk) 15:22, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
Greetings Sitush, at Dhamdhere, which I had previously spent my time cleaning up, you have introduced several errors you need to fix:
- Unnecessary bolding, such as Kshatri dharma
- Spelling errors: "clim" rather than "claim"
- For footnotes such as "The military system of the Marathas", you clearly looked at the book online, but you do not provide a link nor a page number. Please recall how I mentioned that you can use reftag.appspot.com to automatically format GoogleBooks citations, though do note you will need to manually type in page numbers for the Snippet view items.
Again, glad to see you enthused and working, but you must take some care to work cleanly, otherwise you are creating more work for other people, as well as making the Maratha articles look sloppy. Please consider using the automatic footnoting tools, and consider also typing your content in Microsoft Word, where you can use a spell-checker, before pasting it into Wikipedia. MatthewVanitas (talk) 19:54, 19 August 2011 (UTC)
Greetings, please note I added the WikiProject India tag to Talk:Dorik. While not mandatory, these can be very helpful in exposing your article to more readers and supportive editors, as well as allowing your project to be counted in the statistics of WikiProject India. Please at least add a {{WPINDIA}} to the Talk page of any India article you create, and additionally you can add (in lower-case) the name of the applicable province for extra precision: {{WPINDIA|rajasthan=yes}}

How to mark sources as other-language
[edit]Greetings, in a recent new article you labeled a source as "In Marathi language". Note that there is a simpler, standard way to do this. You can simply type: {{mr icon}} at the end of the source description, which will display as (in Marathi). You can do similarly to label a source by most any language, by substituting its abbreviation for the "mr". That is, {{hi icon}} = (in Hindi), {{fr icon}} = (in French). Hope this helps you save some time and keep your References looking smooth! MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:23, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Thank you for your guide sir.
What did you think about the deletion notice you received?
[edit]Hi Starrahul,
In November you received a message about either "Nomination for deletion" or "Proposed deletion" of an article you created. I'd like to ask you a few quick questions:
- Was the message helpful? Were the instructions clear and easy to follow?
- If not, how do you think the message could be improved?
- What do you think about the deletion process in general? Do you understand how to contest a deletion?
You can feel free to answer on my talk page or send me your response by email (mpinchukwikimedia.org). (I won't quote you or link your answers to your username if you don't feel comfortable with that.) Your feedback is incredibly useful for improving the content of deletion notifications, so please take a minute to think about and answer these questions. Thank you! For three years I've been trying to fix your writing
[edit]Starrahul, if you look at the top of the page you'll note in January 2009 I started messaging you about copyediting your work. It's three years later, and you still continue to arbitrarily capitalise words, and apply random bolding. If you happen to be a non-native speaker of English, I can see capitalising might require some focus, but I'm sure there are plenty of helpful websites with advice on how to know when to capitalise and when not to in English. Further, there is no language issue involved in the simple matter of not randomly bolding words you find important in an article.
Yet again, I urge you to pay attention to what words you capitalise and why, and to not bold terms other than the title term itself in its first appearance. These are very simple copyediting rules. I do note, on the positive side, that you've gotten better about punctuation, and you're applying footnotes to articles. These are both good things, but there are still a few very simply bad habits you need to break for capitalising and bolding. MatthewVanitas (talk) 14:31, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, having just reviewed some of your work, I am wondering whether this is the best place to express your undoubted enthusiasm. It seems likely that English is not your first language and you are making very little progress at all in terms of understanding how the English Wikipedia works. Are you aware that there are other versions of Wikipedia that use, for example, Hindi and Marathi? As much as it pains me to say it, competence is required here and I have grave doubts that you are demonstrating it, sorry. - Sitush (talk) 13:58, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
I am supervising over all my work and it will be updated soon. It should be noted that the things which i capitalised in Rane article are essentials to understand article. Thanks for your word. I'll make my work smoother according to wikipidia.
September 2012
[edit]Hello, I'm Sitush. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Maratha without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Sitush (talk) 13:47, 29 September 2012 (UTC)
October 2012
[edit]This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Maratha, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Sitush (talk) 09:50, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I've just reverted practically every edit you have made since my last note. You have learned nothing: there are still no edit summaries, you are POV-pushing, changing sourced quotes to suit your own interpretation, creating WP:POV forks and generally being highly disruptive. I am going to seek advice from an administrator. - Sitush (talk) 10:05, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- And you are still doing it now, despite the above warnings: daft changes, lack of edit summaries, lack of signatures on talk pages, poor sourcing. Please, please discuss this here. Your last response on this page was, alas, gibberish. - Sitush (talk) 12:10, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Your recent editing history at Gujar (Clan) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. Sitush (talk) 12:11, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
This is not edit war but i dont understood what should have been done regarding this?
- That is the entire problem! Despite your numerous edits over several years, and despite the numerous attempts of people to explain things to you, you are no more competent at contributing here than you were when you started. Yes, we should assume good faith but it is not a suicide pact. I am sorry but in my opinion you should not be contributing here. As I said a few days ago, you may find it more congenial to work on a native-language Wikipedia, be it that published in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil or whatever. At least there, you would hopefully have more chance of understanding where it is that you are going wrong. - Sitush (talk) 12:24, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

[edit]its ok mr sitush. I learn from above that a editor should edit summary, and signature and timeship. Kindly help regarding this.--Starrahul (talk) 12:30, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- You have said this before but continue to go on your merry way. I am sorry but I really do think that this is the end of the road. I've asked an administrator to take a look at the situation. - Sitush (talk) 12:32, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Mr. sitush besides reverting the articles content you should place tags there. it avails me to give the references but on the statement that mahadiks ruled several estates like Rajim, Tarale and other. you have reverted the contents. I am soon aviling the references to infobox contents but you reverted all the contents besides helping you making wrong way by reverting the articles. If you have problems on my work then kindly guide me as Mr.Matthew Vanitas did but you making comments like nonsense or many. Kindly, notify the what changes should be done at my edits besides completely reverting. Its not edit war again.--Starrahul (talk) 12:39, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Let's see what the admin says. You've had many years to gain an understanding regarding the need for reliable sources but you still rarely provide any source, let alone a reliable one. MatthewVanitas has been patient with you for far too long in my opinion: the amount of work involved in cleaning-up after you is a tremendous and unreasonable burden to place on other contributors. Anyway, we'll see what the admin says in due course: like me, they are experienced in dealing with Indic subjects but they may have a different take on things. - Sitush (talk) 12:49, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Whats the reply from Admin
[edit]starrahul--Starrahul (talk) 12:52, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- Give them a chance, please. You are surely aware that we have contributors from all over the world and they are not all operating in the same time zone. They also have real lives that mostly take precedence over Wikipedia. - Sitush (talk) 12:56, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Maratha
[edit]OK, at long last you have started to use edit summaries. But you changed sourced information with an explanation that is gibberish and added your signature to the article text. I've reverted it and suggest that you try to explain your point at Talk:Maratha. - Sitush (talk) 13:01, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
Unreliable source
[edit]I do appreciate that in this particular instance it is reasonable that you would not realise the problem, but Shyam Singh Shashi (2004). Encyclopaedia Indica: The Maratha. Anmol Publications. ISBN 978-81-7041-859-7. Retrieved 2 October 2012. is not a reliable source and needs to be removed. The book just reprints stuff verbatim from other books and it does not acknowledge that it has done so. We need to track down the original book(s), one of which is a work by Bamber Gascoigne published in 1971. - Sitush (talk) 13:08, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- There is a problem of recognition of Books. How editors like me can acknowledge the real source books? Is there any method? Please, suggest the needful. --Starrahul (talk) 13:15, 2 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've indented your reply for you (yet another thing that you really should have got to grips with after 4 years). As I said above, in this instance it was unlikely that you would know the thing is unreliable. Although it has been mentioned at WT:INB in the last day or so and was discussed elsewhere also.
As a general rule for caste articles, at least until you have an idea what you are doing:
- don't use anything published before about 1950, and preferably stick with stuff from the last 30 years or so
- don't use anything published by Gyan, Kalpaz or Isha Books, or indeed any listed at WP:MF
- only use academic sources
- try to avoid non-English sources (mainly because there are far too many biassed writers in Marathi and the like, usually published by small companies, self-published or published by caste associations etc )
- check the archives of WP:RSN and WT:INB if in doubt, or ask on the relevant article talk page before using
- For what it is worth, you have very rarely used a reliable source yet. Almost every one has been unsuitable and in most cases you have not even cited them properly (eg: missing page numbers, failure to follow the style of citation already in use on an article, etc). - Sitush (talk) 14:01, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Dorik is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dorik until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Sitush (talk) 16:29, 2 October 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Mr. sitush, you have deleted all Marathi names of Maratha clans like Bhoite, Phadtare, etc. all. Kindly, explain me why? and I am improving the article of Dorik.
Non-existent templates
[edit]Please do not add non-existent templates to articles, as you did when you tried to add Template:Maratha Clans to Maratha. There is no template with a name even remotely like that - the nearest is Template:MarathaEmpire - and that should have been apparent by the redlink that appeared after your edit. I have reverted you. - Sitush (talk) 13:19, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Sitush, there was for a few week such a template, but it was made by the sock of a banned editor, so it was deleted during the cleanup purge of his edits. I'm not convinced such a template is a good idea either, given how problematic the Maratha clan system article was. I'd suspect that over time we'd have folks adding and deleting names from the list will-nilly, since again it appears to be the case that everyone agrees there are 96 clans, but nobody agrees on exactly what clans make up the 96. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:52, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- They have just recreated it. I am getting very concerned now. What are you up to, Starrahul? - Sitush (talk) 13:57, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Ii find that you have reverted the template. i dont know why but the references for correct lists of 96 k is found in sources e.g.[1]--Starrahul (talk) 14:17, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- I have explained why, both above and in my blanking edit summary that is linked to. Have you not yet worked out how to use links/diffs/edit summaries? As for your source, well, that is one that you rely on a lot and unfortunately it is one of many. I cannot see much of it but absolutely guarantee you that there is no definitive list. - Sitush (talk) 14:25, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Sir, there is definative list which i have included and there are many reliable sources for that in Marathi and Hindi too. I see further use of this as i am going to write articles on all clans mentioned in that template. with your proper guide. Kindly, help me again. --Starrahul (talk) 14:34, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I have re-blanked the template. Now, please, hold off the thing until we have resolved matters. You have been reverting me in several places in a manner that makes little sense and, frankly, I am running out of patience. Especially since you also accused me on my talk page of deleting something that I did not.
It might make sense to copy this discussion to the talk page of the template. Does anyone object? - Sitush (talk) 14:37, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Show me those sources. In English, please. - Sitush (talk) 14:38, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

The sources for Maratha clans are Mr.D.B. Kaskars book Rigveda to Rajgarh - Making of Shivaji the Great by Manudevi Prakashan, Mumbai and many other like Are Rajput-Maratha marriages morganatic? by Vidayanand Swami Shrivastavya, others like 96 kula va sadya Adnave etc. Kindly, make that box again.--Starrahul (talk) 15:13, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Two sources do not qualify as "many", nor do they seem to be particularly good themselves. Please can you give me some more of the "many". And page numbers for the two that you have given. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 15:22, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, I am likely to remove every instance where you have cited Kaskar in the many articles that you have created. I have spent a fair bit of time over the last 24 hours or so trying to pin the man down. He is not cited by others, his book seems to be almost impossible to find and the publishers are nothing special either. He appear not to be a reliable source, despite the vast academic literature on Shivaji. - Sitush (talk) 15:27, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
I will post a complete list of books on which maratha clans list is based which result in the creation of 96 clans article and Templates.--Starrahul (talk) 15:33, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- Eh? The Maratha clan system article already exists. Please can you indent your replies, like everyone else usually does. It makes following a conversation much easier. - Sitush (talk) 15:48, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
I will edit Maratha clan system article with making an infobox with five columns such as Name, Lineage, Totem, Original Kingdom, Heraldic title etc. I am serious by attitudes of editors like Sitush and others. e.g. Gujar(Clan) was reverted again by these people. Please, know that now Maratha Gujar and others such as Rajasthani Gujjar and Gujarati Gujar, Maharashtriyan Wani- Gujar etc. terms are different by all means. Kindly, allowa me to create again that article. I am intending to create articles of All Maratha clans which concludes complete 96 Clans of that Community.--Starrahul (talk) 10:28, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
- No you will not. Please see Talk:Maratha clan system and discuss there if you still really believe that you are capable of doing this and that it is warranted. - Sitush (talk) 10:38, 6 October 2012 (UTC)
Spelling
[edit]After all this time you still seem incapable of spelling words that are utterly fundamental to your articles. For example, you have just spelled "caste" as "cast", and your reinstatement at Gujar (Clan) shows numerous other examples, including "Origine" for "Origin".
Not all of us are great spellers and it is likely to be more difficult still if English is not your first language, but after four years or so it is still going on! With really basic words that you use frequently because of the nature of the articles that you create and edit. Please could you take more care. - Sitush (talk) 14:42, 4 October 2012 (UTC) Sometimes, such mistakes happen due to fast writing of related things. I will definately take care of it. The sources for Maratha clans are Mr.D.B. Kaskars book Rigveda to Rajgarh - Making of Shivaji the Great by Manudevi Prakashan, Mumbai and many other like Are Rajput-Maratha marriages morganatic? by Vidayanand Swami Shrivastavya, others etc. Kindly, make that box again.--Starrahul (talk) 14:54, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
- It would seem that you also have not learned how to reply on talk pages ... This is becoming very, very difficult.
Matthew has given you a suggestion here in the past with regard to your spelling but I am sure that this has nothing to do with speed because you make the same mistakes consistently. In any event, there is no deadline, so you can slow down.
If you move your "sources" comment to the section above this one, I'll reply to it. - Sitush (talk) 14:59, 4 October 2012 (UTC)
Hello, I'm Sitush. Thank you. Sitush (talk) 15:30, 4 October 2012 (UTC)

Caste sanctions
[edit]I am sorry but having just seen your recent contributions - eg: at Nimbalkar - it is clear that you are not learning a thing here. When you do bother to source at all, you are persisting in using resources that you have been told are unsuitable, such as royalark.net (unreliable per WP:RSN). Your phrasing and organisation also remain very poor. I am going to have to spend many, many hours cleaning up a mess that stretches back over four years or more. I could live with that if you were not still adding to the problems but, alas, you are. There are sanctions in place with regard to caste articles but I worry that your levels of competence are such that you could not realistically cope even if you changed direction and concentrated on non-caste topics for a while. Do you have any explanation for this behaviour, and in particular your continued unwillingness to abide by consensus? - Sitush (talk) 12:35, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- I've just reverted all your recent stuff at Jagtap, Bhoite, Malusare, Kakade and Jedhe. Again, the sourcing was dreadful - old, dodgy non-English publishers, mirrors such as Global Vision etc - and you still seem not to understand that if someone is notable then they should have an article. I couldn't be bothered checking too closely but some of the content also looked likely to be copy/pastes, if not actual copyright violations. - Sitush (talk) 12:46, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Its embarassing! As i was editing Nimbalkar article with reference to each sentence but you have reverted it. Ii have google sources for each statement but you have deleted. SIMILARLY STATEMENTS IN KAKADE THAT KAKADE WAS HIGH RANKING OFFICER IS SUPPORTED BY RELIABLE SOURCE. How to edit these articles? Yyou should allow me with certain time to make articles as per WP Standard besides reverting every time evry edit. reply
- "Similar sources for each statement" is not acceptable because the sources you are using are hopeless.
You ask above for more time. You've had it: some of the removed content has been there for ages, not merely today. You have shown an unwillingness (despite promises) to fix articles you created four years ago, so why should I anticipate that you will fix your more recent stuff? I note above that the Dorik article has recently been deleted per my nomination and that you made no attempt to fix that either, despite saying that you were going to do so at the time of the nomination. Sorry, but there comes a point when promises have to taken with a pinch of salt. - Sitush (talk) 13:11, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
if the content is in same source and others too, what should a writer do? I am making a text notes on each articles statement and references to make each article better. You should allow me and at the time of article making by making comments or suggestions and not by reverting.--Starrahul (talk) 13:19, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Have you ever actually read WP:RS? If a source is unreliable and then it should not be used, and if that means a statement is unsourced then the statement should usually not exist. I can understand that you might not be familiar with WP:MF and therefore could fall into the trap of using books published by Global Vision, although I am a bit surprised that you are not aware of this well-known plagiariser of Wikipedia's India articles given the length of time you have been contributing. The old district gazetteers and other British Raj sources are not usually reliable, nor is royalark.net etc - all of this has been discussed time and again. The problems inherent in using non-English sources have also been explained to you - WP:NOENG etc. Furthermore, you need to cite pretty much as soon as you make a statement, not weeks, months or years later. That you are hopping about like a gadfly from one article to the next without actually doing the necessary is very worrying, especially given your record of failed promises. - Sitush (talk) 13:31, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Oh, by the way, do you have any connection to the User:Bhonsale account? That user seems to be working on the same articles as you and with a similar style. Of course, it may just be coincidence. - Sitush (talk) 12:51, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
I am not User:Bhonsale and doesn't have any relationship with him/her besides love and attraction towards Maratha and related article.--Starrahul (talk) 13:07, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks. - Sitush (talk) 13:11, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Maratha clans
[edit]Mr. Sitush can i show you a source for Maratha Clans published in Maratha Kshatriyancha Itihaas. This source is in Marathi language which will prevent my edits and avails sourcing for WP and Ccould you tell me how to cite reference to a infobox e.g. as in Maratha clans like Malusare, Kakade etc. ?--Starrahul (talk) 13:33, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- A source published by a caste association is rarely going to be considered reliable. When the title of the source claims Maratha kshatriya status, it definitely is not reliable: we already know from numerous modern, reliable independent sources that Marathas were shudra etc but made claims otherwise. - Sitush (talk) 13:36, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
What does it mean? Others could write anything then it is reliable while one wrote regarding themeselves is unreliable? strange!! There are encyclopidia Britanicca etc. sources were removed by people like you at Maratha clan system also There are many Marathi Sources for these topics which are reliable but you might have problems with it, i don't know why? Look source like http://www.archive.org/stream/kaifiyatsyadiscc00vdga#page/n119/mode/2up where you could find all the facts in Marathi Regarding Bhosale, Pawar, Ghatge and others. (I have doubt that you could also terminate this as per your thinking.) Take e.g. of another source http://books.google.com/books?id=1Vg9AAAAMAAJ as.[1] What is your opinion about it infact all material is found regarding clan system, relations origine etc. in this. Kindly reply and i am going to edit now reverted article along with creation of new ones.PLZ. Reply--Starrahul (talk) 13:49, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Are you reading my replies in full? The source at archive.org is based on British Raj documents and was itself published in the time of the Raj. Since we all know that the Raj authorities were hopeless and variable in their identification of native social groups etc, it is unreliable.. Similarly, no-one has yet come up with a viable explanation for the reliability of Shrivastavya: who was he? who was his publisher? why a 60 year old source? etc. There are plenty of much more modern works and I rather suspect that your difficulty with those is either (a) a relatively poor ability to use them due to comprehension issues, or (b) an unwillingness to do so because they contradict your POV regarding the clan system. - Sitush (talk) 13:56, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Please, don't misunderstand but there are also many sources, modern sources authenciates Maratha clans and System. How many required sources to the needful?
- (edit conflict) I have just reverted your revert at Kakade because it is clear from this and the preceding thread that you will not be inserting reliable sources any time soon. I suggest that you discuss sourcing and get it straight in your head before editing articles further. - Sitush (talk) 14:01, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- Right now, it is less a question of "how many" and more one of "what are they"? It is your inability to appreciate what constitutes a reliable source that is the problem. - Sitush (talk) 14:02, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
I am trying to re-edit this article with proper references but you are reverting it. every statement made in article Kakade has a reliable source. I will do it. I need some time to edit this but you are just like targetting my articles. Wwhat is it?--Starrahul (talk) 14:05, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
- What proper references? Why not give some examples right here, right now? I mean, sourcing specifics are really a discussion for the article talk page but since we are here ... Alternatively, why not develop the article in your sandbox and then get someone who is experienced in sourcing Indic stuff to review it? - Sitush (talk) 15:09, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Topic ban
[edit]I have reviewed your edits to multiple articles, and I've come to the conclusion that you're not capable of neutral editing regarding anything related to Maratha. I am therefore imposing a 6 month topic ban covering all articles and discussions across all namespaces related to Maratha, broadly construed. During that time, you may not edit anything falling within the scope of your ban. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 15:14, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
why? You people don't allowa others to at least review and edit the Articles. When are articles do have sources then they are not reliable comment. Why you people are targetting Maratha Articles? Ban should be taken back and you should allow me to edit the articles. One example, Gujar(Clan) articleis reverted by you claiming that it should be merged with gurjar but Maratha Gujar should have a article to explain the term. Mr Sitush is treating every Maratha article as if he is enemy of the word and you too. You should allow editor to do precise work before taking such decisions.--Starrahul (talk) 12:05, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- That's the thing, you don't do precise work. As a very minor example, your reply just above me is not indented: how have you been here nearly 4 years and don't notice people indent replies? Imperfect English usage would be okay if you took the time to run your articles through a spellchecker before posting, but you don't.
- I personally have been trying to help you with the absolute basics of Wikipedia format (such as not Bolding And Capitalising unnecessarily) but you have steadfastly ignored 90% of my advice. You have frequently failed to provide proper sourcing, and when you sort-of figured out how to Source you dumped an identical 6 books into nearly every Maratha article, wrote vague footnotes lacking proper details, and on the few occasions you used GoogleBooks you showed a strong tendency to mis-citing material, thus calling into question the accuracy of all the other cites we can't see or read. If you had a reputation for neutral and proficient editing, maybe people would trust your usage of Marathi books more, but you do not have such a reputation, despite having, again, nearly 4 years to improve your editing. I and others have wasted a lot of time cleaning up Maratha articles, only to have you come back and add inappropriate and confusing material again. You have been warned numerous times; look at this massive page of warnings! And it was you who made a decision to ignore them all. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:33, 18 October 2012 (UTC)
The article Padakla Jagdev Parmar has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This is gibberish, Google returns no results, and the article creator is now topic banned for producing content of this type and failing to provide meaningful citations etc even for alleged off-Google/non-English works.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sitush (talk) 20:17, 16 October 2012 (UTC)
Do not delete the article at all, I am working on it and article will be according to WP.--Starrahul (talk) 12:07, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- You cannot work on it because it relates to Maratha and you are topic banned. - Sitush (talk) 12:23, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
How can i edit the topic? its rudeness, if not i then who will edit this? I am posting ways to clean it here. --Starrahul (talk) 12:33, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
- You can't discuss it here either. For what it is worth, the citation that you added was - yet again - of no use. Even allowing for the lack of a valid ISBN, the lack of a page number and the link to a possible externally hosted copyright violation, the thing was in Marathi, had no translation provided by you and looked likely to be a poem. - Sitush (talk) 12:44, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
as you posted ban on me i am forced to edit the articles on talk page. Marathi source are also sufficient for WP. Tthe marathi content was from Marathi encyclopidia. How can i edit my articles?
- The ban includes talk pages, even this one. And I did not say that Marathi sources are somehow insufficient. This is just confirming my oft-stated point: you do not take care when you read. By the way, they are not "your" articles: you have no ownership of the things and it is just a shame that you didn't do the necessary sourcing etc in all the years that you have had available to you here. It is not as if you were lacking in notification of the many problems. - Sitush (talk) 13:58, 17 October 2012 (UTC)
Ban Appeal
[edit]You have written to ArbCom appealing the Topic ban. Any blocked user may appeal their block or ban to the Arbitration Committee as a last resort, after other attempts to have the block/ban lifted have failed. You do not appear to have made an appeal on your talkpage, nor at any other venue - such as the admin's talkpage or the admins noticeboard - see WP:Topic ban for more information.
Having reviewed your contribution history, I feel as as an individual - not as a representative of the Committee, that a topic ban is appropriate, and that while you are entitled to make an appeal, you may be wasting yours and other people's time in contesting the ban. It might be more beneficial for yourself, other Wikipedians, our readers, and Wikipedia as a whole, if you took some time to study our guidelines on how to edit Wikipedia, what we consider to be a notable topic, our rules on neutral point of view and on reliable sources.
I note that you have started to listen to advice from Sitush. That is encouraging. The more you take advice from experienced editors in good standing - especially those who have contributed valuable work such as Sitush has, the more you will enjoy editing Wikipedia and the more useful you will be in helping us build this encyclopedia. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
