[edit] History

The present building was constructed in the late 1970s, as a replacement for the former Burlington Jr. High School at Seventh and Niagara Streets. It was the first building in the new complex to open, and the adjoining high school building opened for classes in 1980.

[edit] Campus

The front of the building houses the administration offices, counseling rooms and Technology Lab.

Other notable details include:

  • A gymnasium on the North-Eastern corner of the main building
  • A football field located behind the main building.
  • To the West is the high school that houses grades 9 through 12.
  • A cafeteria and band rehearsal room are located at the heart of the building.

[edit] Students

Burlington Middle School, with a student population of 193, is designated as a 3A school due to the size of BHS's population. This occurred in 2003 after several large classes graduated without adequate replacements from BMS, dropping the district from 4A classification.[1]
