I've created Georges Marsan. In one interview, he says his grandfather was the mayor of one of the neighbourhoods, so it may have been Honoré Bellando (maternal), since the pharmacy is located in La Condamine. Hello. I noticed that you have edited a number of articles on Catholicism. A discussion is taking place as to whether the website Catholic-Hierarchy.org is a reliable source that can be utilized on Wikipedia or whether all references and information derived from it should be deleted. This topic is currently being discussed at the Reliable Sources Noticeboard [1]. As the website's removal as a reference will affect several thousand Wikipedia articles, I believe that the broadest range of opinions should be obtained before action is taken. Listed garden categories

Hi again - I think the new categories for listed gardens and parks by grade you created are a great idea, both I and @Rodw: have started adding to them, but before we go further, maybe we should have a quick discussion on whether the categories should be "parks and gardens" rather than "gardens and parks", in line with their parent Category:Listed parks and gardens in England? If so do you think we should take it to WP:CFD, or since the categories are so new, just do it? Another point, do you think maybe we should set up subcats for each grade by county, like the listed buildings categories - its more interesting to see them by county, and it would probably have to be done at some point anyway? I have no strong feelings on the name but note the official designation is as per Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England. I've been adding Somerset entries so there are probably enough for a sub cat particularly in Grade II, but there are many more listed buildings than parks and gardens, so the sub cats would not grow as big. What I haven't done so far is add them all to List of sites on the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens which is a very incomplete list.— Rod talk 20:29, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
The name should absolutely be "parks and gardens"! Change it in the most convenient way possible :) At present there are c.1400 listed parks and gardens, and I believe many will already be extant articles as part of a larger house/estate. I don't want them added to the category w/out a Historic England specific parks and gardens link. I noticed for Edwardes Square that the HE link had been read incorrectly, grading the houses II* instead of II, quite a few other gardens will have higher listings than their associated buildings. Perhaps we should start stuffing them into counties at an early stage, it will need to be done eventually. I saw to my horror that Wales and Scotland don't even have graded cats, so that's more work! Longer term...HE says that most of the listed parks and gardens will be private, so photography might be lacking. Hello chaps, I'm beginning to realise that assigning parent categories is tricky to say the least, we're being a little inconsistent at the moment. I think probably "Parks and open spaces in x" is probably an appropriate parent, as this kind of cat already includes subcats for "gardens in x" and "country parks in x", so therefore does embrace both parks and gardens. Whereas "gardens in x" isn't so appropriate as a "grade I listed park and garden" could be either a park or a garden. Also, "buildings and structures in x" not appropriate, as a park or garden can contain buildings but isn't a building. Those are my thoughts anyway. Or shall I just go and lie down in a darkened room. What do you think? - Aegoceras (talk) 17:46, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Why not put a quick note on a relevant project (I'm thinking of WP:UKGEO) to get help from regional/county wikiprojects to help with some of the 1000+ still to do, now that a pattern has been set (or even to comment on the best cats etc).— Rod talk 18:00, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

I was involved in WP:HSITES when it was set up but less active now. WP:England may be OK by UKGEO may bring in Scotland, Wales & NI. I don't know WP:CATP but they may be able to advise. If you are doing lots of category work Wikipedia:HotCat is helpful (I noticed you did the Somerset ones manually).— Rod talk 18:34, 10 February 2016 (UTC)

I concur with the "parks and gardens in X" argument, I'll change it later. I included them in buildings and structures because more often than not, listed gardens contain listed structures and I can't ever conceive (or perhaps I don't have enough imagination?) of a situation where we have articles for every one of those listed structures as well, so I've just blanket included them. Would UKGEO be sympathetic to these categories? I've completed Surrey as well. Gareth E. Kegg (talk) 09:52, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
Where I think a note to UKGEO might help, would be in getting those with local interest involved. They will often be the ones who have contributed to articles about local landscape (& buildings etc), which can be beneficial, particularly where wp might have an article under a different name to that used by HE in the listing.— Rod talk 16:12, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

Lily font

The article gets one view a day because the font is hardly WP:NOTABLE enough to have its own article and no one is looking for it. All the salient points are covered at Crown Jewels; the rest is merely padding, and one or two sentences may be incorporated there. I understand why you want to keep the article but to me that isn't a good enough reason for it to be kept. Start a DRR if it bothers you that much. Firebrace (talk) 20:09, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

I find a good way to check quotes is just to search for a few sentences of it on Google, and see if any reliable sources pop up. As long as good-quality sources (that we can be reasonably sure aren't part of an echo chamber with Wikipedia) are chosen, it's not hard to verify a quote (and if it is, and it's not a translation, then...) Echo chamber does worry me, and the fact I couldn't see that page, and their own references...When I wrote that section on her voice (because I was angry that some reality stars had voice subsections and she didn't) I left that quote in as it was so brilliant. Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge

Hi there. I've started a new initiative, the Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. It's a long term goal to bring about 10,000 article improvements to the UK and Ireland. Through two contests involving just six or seven weeks of editing so far we've produced over 1500 improvements. Long term if we have more people chipping it and adding articles they've edited independently as well from all areas of the UK then reaching that target is all possible. We now have 810 New Page Reviewers! Most of you requested the user right to be able to do something about the huge backlog. Now it's time for action.
Mid July to 01 Oct 2016

If each reviewer does only 10 reviews a day over five days, the backlog will be down to zero and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
Let's get that over and done with in time to relax for the holidays.

I've closed the GA review as not listed because the article doesn't meet GA criteria. Reviewers are individual in their approach to reviewing - I abide by the criteria, and will fail if the article doesn't meet the criteria as I feel the process is devalued otherwise. Romney's House article

Hi, I noticed a dated GA nomination for the aforementioned article was made by yourself some months back. I went to it with the intention of doing the review, but have in fact undertaken some improvements and additions myself so doing a review would now be impractical. Some of the things though I picked up on was the very short lead section (I have expanded a little but this really could do with expanding further), the lack of infobox (which I have created, but you may wish to expand upon) and the excessive use of direct quotations when alot of these could be substituted for standard text (direct quotations should really only be used for something said by someone in a sense were it needs to be clear it was spoken and would not be appropriate to substitude for normal text).

The article hadn't seen any changes since October but I would not personally have passed it in the state it was when I came to it not long ago. I still believe some improvements are necessary, such as the aforementioned suggestions I have made, that you may wish to consider undertaking. I didn't look at all of it, so it could also have other flaws but I have at least brought it a bit closer to GA than it perhaps otherwise would have been. New Page Review - newsletter No.2

Hello No Swan So Fine,
A HUGE backlog

We now have 810 New Page Reviewers!
Most of us requested the user right at PERM, expressing a wish to be able to do something about the huge backlog, but the chart on the right does not demonstrate any changes to the pre-user-right levels of October.

Hitting 17,000 soon

The backlog is still steadily growing at a rate of 150 a day or 4,650 a month. Only 20 reviews a day by each reviewer over the next few days would bring the backlog down to a managable level and the daily input can then be processed by each reviewer doing only 2 or 3 reviews a day - that's about 5 minutes work!
It didn't work in time to relax for the Xmas/New Year holidays. Let's see if we can achieve our goal before Easter, otherwise by Thanksgiving it will be closer to 70,000.

Second set of eyes

Remember that we are the only guardians of quality of new articles, we alone have to ensure that pages are being correctly tagged by non-Reviewer patrollers and that new authors are not being bitten.

Abuse

This is even more important and extra vigilance is required considering Orangemoody, and

  1. this very recent case of paid advertising by a Reviewer resulting in a community ban.
  2. this case in January of paid advertising by a Reviewer, also resulting in a community ban.
  3. This Reviewer is indefinitely blocked for sockpuppetry.

Coordinator election

Kudpung is stepping down after 6 years as unofficial coordinator of New Page Patrolling/Reviewing. There is enough work for two people and two coords are now required. Details are at NPR Coordinators; nominate someone or nominate yourself. Date for the actual suffrage will be published later.

Care to expand upon your comments about the RfC [3]? I think that minimally a new RSN discussion needs to be started to get consensus between the RfC and all other past discussions on the topic, which the RfC ignored.

  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:
