The Microsoft Surface Neo, also known as the Microsoft Neo or the Surface Neo, was an upcoming folding device announced during Microsoft's October 2019 Surface hardware event.[1] Unlike its sister device the Surface Duo, the Surface Neo was set to run Windows 10X, a version of Microsoft Windows designed specifically for foldable devices.[2] The device was initially expected to release in "Holiday 2020", but is officially delayed with development paused. Preliminary reports suggest the device may not be released until Fall 2021/Spring 2022.[3]
Background
The device was announced at Microsoft's Surface hardware conference in October 2019, alongside the Surface Pro 7, Surface Pro X, Surface Laptop 3, Surface Duo and Surface Earbuds.
In October 2020, the device's page was removed from Microsoft's website.[4] It is still currently available in an archived version.
Software
The device was planned to launch with Windows 10X, a version of Windows designed intentionally for foldable devices, unlike its sibling device the Surface Duo, which launched with Android. Due to Windows 10X being scrapped, it is unknown what the Surface Neo will launch with.
