Sentence case

Keep in mind that Wikipedia uses sentence case, for everything including page titles, section titles, and subsection titles. For example, on the Matt Frahm page, the "Racing Career" section should be typed as "Racing career," the "Early Years" section as "Early years," etc. The exception is proper nouns such as "Xfinity Series." March 2017

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Road America 180 a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Rollback

Hi, it's my understanding that unsourced material can be challenged and removed. Also, I made a change in a reference where the old source was a tweet, which I replaced with an ESPN article. @Amsgearing: Unsourced material can be challenged and removed, in that order. I would have appreciated a post on the talk page first. Many other articles of the same type have that kind of section, I guess I just didn’t keep track of sources this time around. When I have a good chunk of time, I’ll add sources for all, because all can be sourced (and I’m an inclusionist). As for the tweet/ESPN, that was the right move. Deletion tags

Backlog drive:

Editathons

There will be a large increase in the number of editathons in June. Not English

@Ledinhphublxm: Some of the references on the page, like the ones in the “Qualifying rounds” and “Results” sections, consist of formatted external links, not citations. Therefore, they do not show up at the bottom of the page in the “References” section. Convert those links using the “Cite web” template and you’re good to go. Twitter and the team's official website are NOT reliable sources

Hi, just saw your comments in regards: 2017–18_Dallas_Fuel_season on my talk page and I can't help but disagree.

From my understanding a team's twitter or official website are primary sources, and primary sources are allowed to be used in certain cases. In my case I specifically only ever use a team's offical twitter to quote the original signing date of an esports personnel. The reason I do this is because I've found secondary sources usually don't mention the signing date, unless in the rare case they embed the original tweet, and as a result only have a publication date which generally is a day or two late to be used accurately. Seeing as I don't interrupt the primary sources and I'm just reiterating facts I don't see the issue. Don't get me wrong, secondary sources with the tweets embedded or singing dates mentioned might be preferred, but using the primary source isn't against any guidelines as far as I'm aware.

Primary sources can be reliable, and they can be used. Sometimes, a primary source is even the best possible source, such as when you are supporting a direct quotation. In such cases, the original document is the best source because the original document will be free of any errors or misquotations introduced by subsequent sources. Wikipedia:Identifying and using primary sources#"Primary" does not mean "bad"
The organization's own website is an acceptable (although possibly incomplete) primary‡ source for information about what the company says about itself and for most basic facts about its history, products, employees, finances, and facilities. Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation. ARCA at MIS

I went to the ARCA race at Madison International Speedway on 6/15/2018. They had an autograph session from 6:30 to 7:30 before the race and I made the long trek just in time for the start of the session. I took photographs of the drivers and cars. I'm processing them right now. I will be uploading the whole field to Commons. I even took several photographs of the drivers posing beside their car! Thank you! I won't be attending the IndyCar race at Road America again this year. I went to 1 or 2 IndyCar races at Road America about 15 years back when my brother-in-law did live remotes for a local radio station. I actually went to all of the major Road America events one year as his expert guest. I wasn't into photographs then so I don't have any pictures. In my opinion, the best spot to photograph the cars is from the inside of turn 6. I program the camera shutter speed at about 1/160 second and take panning shots of the cars. I definitely plan on attending both! I live half way between the 2 tracks, about 35 minutes to each, which I consider to be a short drive. (say hey or see my edits!) User:Willsome429 you reversed an edit that I made. I read the five pillars of Wikipedia, NPOV, Biographies of living persons and other examples before making that edit. Please note that I did so because the entry is not neutral, the referenced ESPN article is not neutral as well and irresponsibly incorrect just like the Wikipedia posting. Please note that this particular paragraph specifically goes against the "Explanation of the neutral point of view" as stated. Here are the facts. Lance was and has never been charged with "possession of (THC) originating from a traffic stop in early September". There is a traffic misdemeanor that he is fighting and directly related to this but NOT a possession of THC as stated. TMZ was first to incorrectly report on this 4 months after the stop actually occurred and other news outlets including ESPN picked up on it thinking it was going to get them more views and clicks and yes it did as these kind of news tend to. Now whomever posted this on Wikipedia is far less informed on the details of this traffic stop just like TMZ and ESPN and therefore referencing these sources is not only incorrect but reckless in perpetuating false statements. I believe these are sufficient grounds to dismiss/erase this alleged charges that do not exist. Is it not? Records of arrests and charges are available to the public and a much better reference versus using news and media sites that are known to focus on speed versus proper journalism. Additionally to get an inkling on the lack of accuracy of this Wikipedia posting, you can reference this article from the same TMZ where they updated after additional research. He was not even cited at the scene so how can there be TCH charges and busted for weed etc. It is so inaccurate and libelous and every agency media outlet picks it for clicks. "Wisconsin State Patrol tells us Kendricks was not actually cited for marijuana during the stop. WSP says marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia charges have been "referred to the Outagamie County DA’s Office" who will decide whether to charge Kendricks. Cops tell us they confiscated weed from LK's vehicle, however, he left the scene without a citation." ^[1]

This is the problem with the web and even if Wikipedia has processes and editors etc, it does not have the capability to catch this and there are many many brands that suffer because of these type content driven by money and desire for clicks Codepantry (talk) 04:42, 18 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Willsome429: Lance is a personal friend. I am knowledgeable in branding and digital marketing. Id id not mention this as I wanted to read and understand the rules and comply with such without being influences by additional knowledge into this matter. I am therefore not here to aggravate or fight with anyone but to provide an objective input and correction into my translation of the facts reconciled with the rules of Wikipedia. So far this is against what Wikipedia stands for and is about per the references and in particular the examples of grey areas and need for objectivity. I will clarify that there are no pending charges. It is my first edit and new Wikipedia account. What does a review mean? I edited i.e. removed it and provided sufficient evidence via an updated link as verification and it has been added again - how can this be resolved based on the facts - negative or positive and in line with NPOV and everything Wikipedia advocates. I am new here and not intending on running afoul with anyone but I believe this warrants a second eye or escalation or whatever is needed get it compliant. I agree that NPOV provides both positive and negative but it has to be accurate otherwise it is not neutral or NPOV.Wikipedia's five pillars require neutrality, citing reliable and authoritative and verifiable sources. In this case the original source and story is from TMZ before all others picked it up including ESPN. TMXZ has since retracted. I do not know if TMZ is an authoritative source but I can tell you that all articles online including the updated TMZ one are incorrect. The only accurate and verifiable source is the Greenbay public records for arrests and pending cases. But that side I can tell you the why this is baseless: First the original story,"Lance busted for TCH" was a bait click as not even a ticket was issued during this traffic stop or an arrest made. Secondly, what is currently pending is a mere traffic ticket which he is disputing and net net, there will be no charges whatsoever. The reason why the traffic ticket is pending is because we are disputing the manner in which it was issued. When he was pulled over, a ticket was never issued then two or three months later someone "sold" the footage to TMZ and then they phrased it as busted. The police then sent a a ticket by mail due to the media coverage. This ticket has since been reduced to a mere traffic violation. The ticket is pending because he is disputing it as he was let go after the stop with no tickets issued. Do we mention traffic tickets as legal issues? If so then most people on Wikipedia would likely have a legal issues section if they have had tickets amended at some point in life. Is this in line with Wikipedia's policies to display ongoing traffic tickets as charges and legal issues? I think this is a clear violation of what Wikipedia is about. Why? This section says there are legal issues which is a stereotype for NFL athletes and what does this do to his brand? If the section said traffic tickets then sure. It is not in good faith or a display of neutrality to perpetuate inaccurate news and media about brands especially where negative stereotypes exist. @Yankees10:, your thoughts?

@Willsome429: He was not cited or arrested so no charges. When TMZ got he video months later, this resulted in a misdemeanor traffic ticket which you pay and done. But he is disputing this. Worst case there will be a traffic ticket to be paid noting that this is why he was over for doing 81 in a 70. So that's it. If this section has traffic stop section with reliable sources and citations then fair but let's take a step back. If TMZ as the original source is an inadmissible/unreliable source then this posting does not meet the standards set forth and the burden of proof on whether this stands, should not be enforced? I have listed below the reasons and specific sections of NPOV that this posting does not meet.

Everything I mention is consistent and backed by the reference above of TMZ backtracking and updating the article. The traffic ticket is being disputed so and therefore the best source for this information realtime is through the Municipal records https://www.gbpolice.org/content/category/26/pay-fines or you can use this request form https://www.gbpolice.org/content/category/35/records-requests. You can also use these very same sources to verify that there are no charges contrary to the legal section for Lance in Wikipedia.

The reason I deleted it in summary as below: 1. TMZ reported an opinion that led all other news outlets to pick up. This opinion was used to add a Legal Issues section in Lance’s Wikipedia page 2. TMZ a gossip column and fits the criteria of a questionable source per Wikipedias outline of reliable sources and therefore it is not a reliable and authoritative source.I would like to note that TMZ procured the tape and first to publish the story before other more credible sources like ESPN published the story. The pointer is that a non reliable source reported an opinion that was then published by ESPN/a reliable source? which was referenced when this section was added - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Verifiability#What_counts_as_a_reliable_source 3. This legal section for Lance also does not meet the requirement for “Original research”. 4. This legal section does not meet the requirement for good research and or balance

June backlog drive

Overall the June backlog drive was a success, reducing the last 3,000 or so to below 500. However, as expected, 90% of the patrolling was done by less than 10% of reviewers.
Since the drive closed, the backlog has begun to rise sharply again and is back up to nearly 1,400 already. Please help reduce this total and keep it from raising further by reviewing some articles each day.

New technology, new rules

New features are shortly going to be added to the Special:NewPagesFeed which include a list of drafts for review, OTRS flags for COPYVIO, and more granular filter preferences. More details can be found at this page.
Probationary permissions: Now that PERM has been configured to allow expiry dates to all minor user rights, new NPR flag holders may sometimes be limited in the first instance to 6 months during which their work will be assessed for both quality and quantity of their reviews. This will allow admins to accord the right in borderline cases rather than make a flat out rejection.
Current reviewers who have had the flag for longer than 6 months but have not used the permissions since they were granted will have the flag removed, but may still request to have it granted again in the future, subject to the same probationary period, if they wish to become an active reviewer.

Editathons

Editathons will continue through August. Please be gentle with new pages that obviously come from good faith participants, especially articles from developing economies and ones about female subjects. Consider using the 'move to draft' tool rather than bluntly tagging articles that may have potential but which cannot yet reside in mainspace.

The next issue of the monthly magazine will be out soon. The newspaper is an excellent way to stay up to date with news and new developments between our newsletters. NPR Newsletter No.13 18 September 2018

Hello Willsome429, thank you for your work reviewing New Pages!

The New Page Feed currently has 2700 unreviewed articles, up from just 500 at the start of July. For a while we were falling behind by an average of about 40 articles per day, but we have stabilised more recently. Please review some articles from the back of the queue if you can (Sort by: 'Oldest' at Special:NewPagesFeed), as we are very close to having articles older than one month.

Project news

The New Page Feed now has a new "Articles for Creation" option which will show drafts instead of articles in the feed, this shouldn't impact NPP activities and is part of the WMF's AfC Improvement Project.

As part of this project, the feed will have some larger updates to functionality next month. Specifically, ORES predictions will be built in, which will automatically flag articles for potential issues such as vandalism or spam. Copyright violation detection will also be added to the new page feed. See the projects's talk page for more info.

There are a number of coordination tasks for New Page Patrol that could use some help from experienced reviewers. See Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Coordination#Coordinator tasks for more info to see if you can help out.

Other

A new summary page of reliable sources has been created; Wikipedia:Identifying reliable sources/Perennial sources, which summarizes existing RfCs or RSN discussions about regularly used sources.

Moving to Draft and Page Mover

Some unsuitable new articles can be best reviewed by moving them to the draft space, but reviewers need to do this carefully and sparingly. It is most useful for topics that look like they might have promise, but where the article as written would be unlikely to survive AfD. If the article can be easily fixed, or if the only issue is a lack of sourcing that is easily accessible, tagging or adding sources yourself is preferable. If sources do not appear to be available and the topic does not appear to be notable, tagging for deletion is preferable (PROD/AfD/CSD as appropriate). See additional guidance at WP:DRAFTIFY.
If the user moves the draft back to mainspace, or recreates it in mainspace, please do not re-draftify the article (although swapping it to maintain the page history may be advisable in the case of copy-paste moves). AfC is optional except for editors with a clear conflict of interest.
Articles that have been created in contravention of our paid-editing-requirements or written from a blatant NPOV perspective, or by authors with a clear COI might also be draftified at discretion.
The best tool for draftification is User:Evad37/MoveToDraft.js^(info). Kindly adapt the text in the dialogue-pop-up as necessary (the default can also be changed like this). Note that if you do not have the Page Mover userright, the redirect from main will be automatically tagged as CSD R2, but in some cases it might be better to make this a redirect to a different page instead.
The Page Mover userright can be useful for New Page Reviewers; occasionally page swapping is needed during NPR activities, and it helps avoid excessive R2 nominations which must be processed by admins. Note that the Page Mover userright has higher requirements than the NPR userright, and is generally given to users active at Requested Moves. Only reviewers who are very experienced and are also very active reviewers are likely to be granted it solely for NPP activities.

List of other useful scripts for New Page Reviewing

Twinkle provides a lot of the same functionality as the page curation tools, and some reviewers prefer to use the Twinkle tools for some/all tasks. It can be activated simply in the gadgets section of 'preferences'. There are also a lot of options available at the Twinkle preferences panel after you install the gadget.
In terms of other gadgets for NPR, HotCat is worth turning on. It allows you to easily add, remove, and change categories on a page, with name suggestions.
MoreMenu also adds a bunch of very useful links for diagnosing and fixing page issues.
User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js^(info): Installing scripts doesn't have to be complicated. Go to your common.js and copy importScript( 'User:Equazcion/ScriptInstaller.js' ); into an empty line, now you can install all other scripts with the click of a button from the script page! (Note you need to be at the ".js" page for the script for the install button to appear, not the information page)
User:TheJosh/Scripts/NewPagePatrol.js^(info): Creates a scrolling new pages list at the left side of the page. You can change the number of pages shown by adding the following to the next line on your common.js page (immediately after the line importing this script): npp_num_pages=20; (Recommended 20, but you can use any number from 1 to 50).
User:Primefac/revdel.js^(info): Is requesting revdel complicated and time consuming? This script helps simplify the process. Just have the Copyvio source URL and go to the history page and collect your diff IDs and you can drop them into the script Popups and it will create a revdel request for you.
User:Lourdes/PageCuration.js^(info): Creates a "Page Curation" link to Special:NewPagesFeed up near your sandbox link.
User:Writ Keeper/Scripts/deletionFinder.js: Creates links next to the title of each page which show up if it has been previously deleted or nominated for deletion.
User:Evad37/rater.js^(info): A fantastic tool for adding WikiProject templates to article talk pages. If you add: rater_autostartNamespaces = 0; to the next line on your common.js, the prompt will pop up automatically if a page has no Wikiproject templates on the talk page (note: this can be a bit annoying if you review redirects or dab pages commonly).

Project updates

ORES predictions are now built-in to the feed. These automatically predict the class of an article as well as whether it may be spam, vandalism, or an attack page, and can be filtered by these criteria now allowing reviewers to better target articles that they prefer to review.
There are now tools being tested to automatically detect copyright violations in the feed. This detector may not be accurate all the time, though, so it shouldn't be relied on 100% and will only start working on new revisions to pages, not older pages in the backlog.

Community Wishlist Voting takes place 16 to 30 November for the Page Curation and New Pages Feed improvements, and other software requests. Wisconsin racing drivers

If you are looking start an article on a Wisconsin driver, please ping me for images. I likely have images of them since I travel to so many races and race tracks around the state. I see that you just started Sam Mayer's article and I had great victory lane images of him at Dells Raceway Park.

Wisconsin has a great class of upcoming 14-15 year old drivers. This year I went to Marshfield Motor Speedway and I took pictures of the top 3 drivers in the Midwest Truck series who were all 14 years old [1]! And then there's Travis Kvapil's son Carson Kvapil who did AWESOME in a few starts in Ty Majeski's Super Late Model while he is down south chasing NASCAR Xfinity. I have added finding Lowell Bennett images to my To Do list and I have hundreds of images of his cars over the years. I have uploaded images to flickr from March 2006 but they now want me to pay $50 for a Pro account so I had to quit. I uploaded thousands of images there [2] but I can't add more since they'll be deleted. There is a 1000 image limit for non-professional accounts but my images should be kept since I had a Creative Commons license before Flickr's $ change. Julia Landauer Edits

Hi Willsome429. I saw that you reverted the Julia Landauer info box back to K&N west stats because she has more West races, however that insinuates that K&N West was her most recent racing, which it isn't. Also, in reverting the edits you also deleted updated information on her 2018 racing, as well as 2019 racing plans which have been verified by NASCAR. She is a current NASCAR Pinty's Series racer and including that information is most accurate for this page. Please let us know if there's still something you don't agree with, thank you.

Reminders

NPR is not a binary keep / delete process. In many cases a redirect may be appropriate. You replaced my edits with false, misleading statement: "Before Late Model Sportsman became an official Nascar division", and incomplete, ambiguous win/finish information. Please explain.

Late Model Sportsman IS an official Nascar National Championship division beginning 1950 until it was replaced by a touring series: "Budweiser Late Model", later "Busch Grand National", later "Busch", later "Nationwide", now Xfinity".

From 1950-present, LMS has been one of Nascar's three "national"series... originally the three were Grand National, Late Model Sportsman and Modified, now its Cup, Xfinity and trucks.

Hi Mike, and thanks for your concern. To address a couple of your points:

Wikipedia content must be backed up with reliable sources. The linked page explicitly excludes fan-generated sites such as Wikia, which is the platform The Third Turn is based on. In relation to other editors, I’m doing a nice compromise, as many editors would have removed all the content. Instead, I edited prose to bring the content up to Wikipedia standards and kept the content, which was a cleaner summary to the (still incomplete) Third Turn results. If there are reliable sources that back Ard’s record (FOX/NBC, nascar.com, etc.) please add them.
For better or for worse, Wikipedia only recognizes what is now the Xfinity Series as a national touring series since 1982, and henceforth my wording, as Wikipedia recognizes Ard as the inaugural Xfinity Series champion.

To close, I really can’t restore your edits without risk of another editor removing it, and I feel like the compromise I made was the best way to navigate the issue. Per WP:V, a third-party source is needed to confirm. And while the Journal did not explicitly say that he accepted the invitation, it did say that he became the second Owl to sign, strongly implying that Mr. Sumpter did indeed take up Tennessee. Wikipedia:Plagiarism: the Superior Essex website is a copyrighted source, so text cannot be copied from the website.
Wikipedia:Reliable sources: the Superior Essex website is not independent of the company itself, obviously. Content backed by sources published by the company should not be used.
Wikipedia:Neutral point of view: the blurbs from the Superior Essex website read like an ad - because it is supposed to be one. Wikipedia, however, is not supposed to be one.
Wikipedia:Conflict of interest: your username and above statement give the impression that you are connected to and are potentially being paid by Superior Essex for your contributions. Please note that Wikipedia expects all editors to disclose all conflicts of interest, paid and unpaid, on either your user page or user talk page. Editing pages that you have a connection to is strongly discouraged.

Right now, there is little salvageable from your contributions that have both reliable sources and a neutral point of view. If you would like to try and refine your edits, go ahead and then I will see if I can salvage more. Please remember, however, that more advertising and promotion may lead to a block. Unfortunately, the guideline that you used as a baseline has no applicability here. The notability of Superior Essex was never in doubt, rendering that guideline invalid in this scenario. There are source links to CNN, MarketWatch, Rueters, Money, BusinessWire, International Living Future, The US GOVERNMENT, AccuTech, and many other sources to back up the content on that page. Did you even look at it?

There are also internal links to product data sheets, which are very common on industry pages on wikipedia. There are also citations to internal links to show where the material came from.

It is not different from how most every other business page on Wikipedia is written. I don't know why you are hard up on these edits but all are within the same standard that other pages use. Thanks for your feedback. I will do my best to make additional changes, but please stop deleting what is being added because the additions all have citations.

Unfortunately, this is different than most business pages on Wikipedia. There was already a page for Superior Essex, and while it had its flaws, it was a suitable page for the encyclopedia. Copy-pasting work and adding blatant promotion is not suitable for Wikipedia. Instead, content must follow a neutral point of view, which does not read like an ad. Words like "leading", "biggest", and boasting about the company should be removed. Sections copy-pasted from the website should be removed or completely rewritten to erase any traces of plagiarism, and done so without the use of any first-person pronouns such as "ours". More new features are being added to the feed, including the important red alert for previously deleted pages. This will only work if it is selected in your filters. Best is to 'select all'. Do take a moment to check out all the new features if you have not already done so. If anything is not working as it should, please let us know at NPR. There is now also a live queue of AfC submissions in the New Pages Feed. Feel free to review AfCs, but bear in mind that NPP is an official process and policy and is more important.

QUALITY of REVIEWING

Articles are still not always being checked thoroughly enough. If you are not sure what to do, leave the article for a more experienced reviewer. Please be on the alert for any incongruities in patrolling and help your colleagues where possible; report patrollers and autopatrolled article creators who are ostensibly undeclared paid editors. The displayed ORES alerts offer a greater 'at-a-glance' overview, but the new challenges in detecting unwanted new content and sub-standard reviewing do not necessarily make patrolling any easier, nevertheless the work may have a renewed interest factor of a different kind. A vibrant community of reviewers is always ready to help at NPR.

Backlog

The backlog is still far too high at between 7,000 and 8,000. Of around 700 user rights holders, 80% of the reviewing is being done by just TWO users. In the light of more and more subtle advertising and undeclared paid editing, New Page Reviewing is becoming more critical than ever.

Move to draft

NPR is triage, it is not a clean up clinic. This move feature is not limited to bios so you may have to slightly re-edit the text in the template before you save the move. Anything that is not fit for mainspace but which might have some promise can be draftified - particularly very poor English and machine and other low quality translations.

Notifying users

Remember to use the message feature if you are just tagging an article for maintenance rather than deletion. Otherwise articles are likely to remain perma-tagged. Many creators are SPA and have no intention of returning to Wikipedia. Use the feature too for leaving a friendly note note for the author of a first article you found well made or interesting. Many have told us they find such comments particularly welcoming and encouraging.

PERM

Admins are now taking advantage of the new time-limited user rights feature. If you have recently been accorded NPR, do check your user rights to see if this affects you. Depending on your user account preferences, you may receive automated notifications of your rights changes. Requests for permissions are not mini-RfAs. Helpful comments are welcome if absolutely necessary, but the bot does a lot of the work and the final decision is reserved for admins who do thorough research anyway.

”Racing” does not mean he is a driver. It means he is involved with the sport of racing. And we like to keep page titles broad, as you can see from the number of pages that say “racing driver” instead of “NASCAR driver” because NASCAR is not everything. Hi Josh, and thank you for bringing your concerns here. Here's where the situation stands: I am not interested in being "your Wikipedia guy", paid or unpaid. I merely reverted your edits because they go against WP:V, which states that all content has to be cited by reliable sources. NFLisAwesome presumably spent a lot of time building what I consider a quality page, better than the pages for a lot of other drivers on here. As is also stated on your talk page, the Wikipedia conflist of interest policy states that subjects of Wikipedia pages are highly advised not to edit their own pages, and instead encouraged to take their concerns to the talk page, which I will go more in depth there.
