Overview
Following her resignation as Prime Minister in October 2022, Liz Truss compiled a list of those she thought deserving of honours. The list was released on 29th December 2023, alongside the 2024 New Year Honours. When the list was published, Truss said that she was "delighted these champions for the conservative causes of freedom, limited government and a proud and sovereign Britain have been suitably honoured".[2] A government source said: "Every past Labour prime minister has issued a dissolution or resignation list. The convention is that the incumbent prime minister does not block the political peerage proposals of others."[2] which was incorrect as neither Tony Blair or Gordon Brown issued resignation honours.
