Hi Maddiekate

What are your interests besides collecting userboxes? Maybe there's something you have in common with someone else. Does that make sense?Nooch-nombe 02:37, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 • Hey there,

I like the Bible, I've been a musician just about all my life so music is a big part of my life, outdoors, horses, camping, probably a few other things.Nooch-nombe 19:47, 10 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(+996) - answer from WP:NCH

When I add a new article, I went to my watch page, and it had this number, (+number). What is this for, and what does it mean?¿? MaddiekateMaddiekate

Hmm, that's interesting. Are you sure anyone could be hacking in to your account? Other than that that is something that should never happen. This is what I suggest, simply visit the page and unwatch, if it comes back on, please alert us again. Hope this helps, Cheers!--Jupiter12 03:55, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

 • That's not hacking. The page was probably automatically added to your watchlist because you created it. You can change that in your preferences. The number indicates the number of bits (aka characters) added or removed from the page. +996 indicates you added you added nearly a 1000 characters to it. The same thing can be seen on Special:Recentchanges. It's particularly useful in spotting people who blank articles. - Mgm|(talk) 12:34, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for uploading Image:Fulltwist.gif. Although it is a wonderful animation that accurately describes its subject, Wikipedia fair use policy prohibits its usage in the article. This policy prohibits usage of copyrighted images when there exists the potential for someone to create an alternative and release it under a free license. If you own the copyright to this image, or if you secure its release under a free license (e.g. GFDL or ), then it may be used. Otherwise, I'm afraid it is going to be deleted. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 23:16, 11 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. Thanks for creating the articles you have done thus far. Just pointing out that when you create one, you can just remove it as opposed to striking it out. Just throwing it out there. :)--Wizardman 22:50, 15 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Adoption Congrats

Congratulations!

Congratulations on your recent adoption, Maddiekate, and welcome to Wikipedia! I saw that you have expressed an interest in being adopted by an experienced editor. Being an experienced editor myself, I accepted your request. Whether you want to learn about wiki markup, find something to do, or just talk to somebody, I'm the person to see about it - just leave a message on my talk page. Remember, I am willing to help you and make your time here more enjoyable. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have, and remember to "be BOLD!"- I'm here to help you; no question is a stupid one. In the mean time, here are some pages that you might find helpful, in case you haven't already gotten the official welcoming:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place helpme on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome and congratulations!

Firstly, as you new adopter, what would you like help with or what you you like to learn about instead of just me telling you stuff, just tell me what you'd like to learn about Wikipedia and I'll give you a hand — if you cannot think of any reasons - thats fine! I'll be able to suggest some if necessary.

Kindest Regards

Hi Maddiekate! Thank you for the smile. Please see this sub-page I have created for your adoption, this saves our user talk pages getting full, their is instructions on what to do on that page so you can ask all your questions there. Regards --The Sunshine Man 07:07, 1 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've replied to your comment at User:The Sunshine Man/Adoptee/Maddiekate, you can post a reply there when ready. May I suggest you remove the bit on your userpage saying I think I might vandalise something so someone will leave a message on my talk page, this is likely to be frowned upon by other editors — what do you think Please reply on the adoptee page?
You may wish to have a look at the userpage hall of fame (a sub-page of the userpage design centre), reply on the adoptee page if you see anything you like. The Sunshine Man 22:21, 2 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

In response to your helpdesk question, people will be able to help you if you post the source code of your signature on your userpage or a user subpage. You may be interested to know that I can't read it. It appears as boxes because some of the characters are non-Latin (e.g. Chinese or Korean). A lot of the admins are experts on signatures. You could try asking User:Phaedriel or User:Radiant!. YechielMan 23:18, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting Vandalism

Maddiekate, thanks for your recent effort to combat vandalism to the Truth page. However when you are looking to do this it is a good idea to check the edit history, especially if when looking at the diff the previous edit was by the same person as the edit you are about to undo. In the case of this article you missed the immediate prior vandalism by the same user, which then makes it harder for someone to figure out what is going on. Don't let this discourage you from trying to combat vandalism, just to encourage you to be more through. Foochar 20:34, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked

Due to your continued and deliberate violations of WP:V, WP:RS, and WP:CITE, you have been blocked for 31 hours. Please use this time to read up on these policies. --Yamla 14:30, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wow, you're so cool, you blocked me because you don't believe cheerleading is a team sport. It's common knowledge. Have you ever seen only 1 person do it? Way to assert your power. Maddie was here 17:08, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, why have you not been able to find a single reliable source that states this? WP:V is not optional and you have been warned about this before. --Yamla 17:13, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know about you, but I generally would agree that a major newspaper is a reliable source. [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
The first source indicates that cheerleading may not be a sport. The second indicates that some people believe cheerleading is a sport and some do not. The third is a university paper, fails WP:RS, and rather than stating that cheerleading is generally considered a sport, states, "There is always a huge debate from non-cheerleaders about why it should not be considered a sport." The last citation blatantly fails WP:RS. --Yamla 17:53, 29 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Have you tried looking on encyclopediea Brticanica or World Book, I'm sure they say some where that it is a sport. --Chris g 08:54, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions

In Answer to your questions:

 • To make a userbox all you need to do is write up the code and then copy the code on a page made for that user box (eg. User:Maddiekate/Userboxs/Mycooluserbox) if you need infomation on how to code a userbox take a look here or ask me.
 • To sort userboxes into tables just add Title goes here at the top of the userboxes you want in the table and Userboxbottom at the end. This wil create this:

Note: You can now ask questios here

--Chris g 09:29, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Userpage

Want a great userpage? Phaedriel will help you, I'm sure. She's so nice, and would probably help you get everything aligned the way that you want, if you just ask. =)  hmwith  talk 20:43, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The portal page should contain all the common and useful links to relevant articles, lists, categories, as well as the project tasklist. As this portal is your tool, please feel free to organize, modify, or expand the Topics, Categories, Lists, and Tasklist sections of the portal as you see fit.
 • to lead potential AAR editors to WikiProject Amphibians and Reptiles as well as to educate general readers. Feel free to add more items for the "Did you know..." section.

Thank you for reading. If you have any questions, please leave them on the portal talk page or my user talk page. --Melanochromis

Hidden page barnstar - coding

Borrowing Selform's hidden barnstar page coding and the language from your hidden page userbox, I came up with this:

The Secret Page Barnstar
This user found maddiekate's secret hidden page. Have you?

The code is:

rowspan="2" valign="middle" |
rowspan="2" |
style="font-size: x-large; padding: 0; vertical-align: middle; height: 1.1em"| The Secret Page Barnstar
style="vertical-align: middle; border-top: 1px solid gray;" align="center" |This user found maddiekate's secret hidden page. Have you?

Let me know what you think. You can try playing around with the code for a different title, BG colors etc. --BrokenSphere 03:24, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the barnstar. Your talk page is awesome. I've never seen one like this before. I tried not to mess it up, but you'll probably have to fix it. Maddie was here 03:41, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Thats cool, how often do you have to fix it? Do people ever leave messages in the regular format?Maddie was here 17:35, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I just did. The "regular format" is part of the talk page guidelines, which are simple enough for mere humans to master pretty quickly, and given that Wikipedia is already far too complicated (for example, check out the infobox template code I mention below), I think it would be best to keep things as simple as possible whenever there is no need to make them more complicated. Just my opinion. --Teratornis 01:25, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cheerleader infobox

I left a late reply to your Help desk question about templates. It sounds like you want to create a Template:Infobox cheerleader. I don't see anything exactly like that in Category:Sports infobox templates, but many similar templates exist, for example Template:Infobox Athlete. You will have to learn a bit about template editing to make much headway with designing your own infobox template. The easiest approach is to find an existing infobox template similar to what you want to create, and then copy it and edit it. --Teratornis 01:13, 27 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:ShawnJohnson2007VISA.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:ShawnJohnson2007VISA.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:10, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

You really should put a copyright tag on it before it gets deleted, do you need any help doing that? --Chris  G  08:43, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:CheerleadingScale.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Shell babelfish 17:23, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Um, just so you the image will be deleted in four days time(9/4) if you don't add the copyright tag. Also if this is a free image I suggest you upload it to the Commons. --Chris  G  10:16, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of USAG compulsorie routines

A tag has been placed on USAG compulsorie routines, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia per CSD g1.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add hangon on the top of the article and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add hangon on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. Domthedude001 02:07, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for contacting me Maddiekate. I am pretty busy with a few other articles but will try every now and then to do some edit work on Gymnastics. I also have an extensive background in gymnastics so I might be able to help every now and then with technique info . (olive 23:48, 6 October 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Reply from olive on editing gymnastics

Thanks Maddie. I will probably not have a lot of time to edit, but I keep a watch for vandalism and every now and then do some copy editing. I seem to be editing several articles right now so don't think I can do any actual writing but count me in for copy editing.(olive (talk) 22:51, 20 November 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Umm

My honest response is that I am not taking this seriously.... 6, so before I respond I need to ask if it is a joke or not? Sethie (talk) 20:07, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
