Welcome!
Edit War
Reverting someones contributions more than once is a big no no, especially when it's not vandalism but true and verifiable information. Sometimes a 'gardener' can kill the flowers too. If you saw the film, you would know it's all true, but to revert something that you obviously have no knowledge about is lame.

Hello, Alansohn. I am more familiar with your name than your editing work. But I know that you are very much respected here at Wikipedia. And because of your experience on Wikipedia, I am asking...will you respond here? I need a sufficient number of opinions about this matter. I am the main person editing this article, as well as the main person keeping it free of vandalism. The talk page is not active. I have asked some other editors to respond on this matter as well, but I am not sure how many of them will show up to do so. Any assistance you can provide on this would be much appreciated. Fictional characters in alumni cats
So, since when did we start putting fictional characters in school alumni categories? Seems bizarre and I've never seen it done before. Good Ol’factory (talk) 12:35, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
- No, no—don't change the definition necessarily ... I was getting excited because I thought you'd now spent enough hours at CfD that you've internalized its mindset and I would be able to formally welcome you into the "bizarro world" that I always see you referencing! Good Ol’factory (talk) 12:52, 18 September 2009 (UTC)
So, on a more serious note—what say you about this issue? Shall I go ahead and change it to real people only? Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- There are additional fictional alums, and if there are sources to back that up, I don't see why they should not be included. Is there any policy that prohibits it? Alansohn (talk) 19:08, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure—I'll look into it though and let you know. I know there has been a general practice not to mix real and fictional people in the same categories. It might be something worth raising at Wikipedia talk:Categorization, which I might do if I can't find anything. Good Ol’factory (talk) 21:57, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
- I started a discussion here to try to get a feel for what other users think about this. As noted there, I could not find any policy or guideline that was directly on point, though there are some hints at WP:COP. It probably hasn't been seriously mooted before. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:10, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Removal of Erroneous Information
I left a blank space here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gospel_of_Judas#Scholarly_debates because there is no reason for April's information to be there. The New York Times "Article" is merely an online opinion post. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/01/opinion/01deconink.html?_r=2&oref=slogin
Daimon is very clearly used to be NOT a demon in gnostic texts. Her lack of supportive references outside of her personal opinion blog deem it necessary to remove.

Wait what? I did not do that edit. I'd never do such shallow griefing and especially not abuse such a useful and educational article. Might there be someone acting in my place? A Trojan? Defining
We can start a discussion re: establishing a definition of "defining" as soon as you like—no need to wait for others to end. Make a proposal and it will be discussed. I have not been able to formulate a proposal of a "positive" definition that I agree with, otherwise I would propose something. I have plenty of ideas about "negative" definitions, but as I recall you weren't enthusiastic about that approach, so perhaps you should get the ball rolling with what you have in mind. Good Ol’factory (talk) 03:16, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- The other discussion has petered out, if that's what you were waiting for. Are you going to start the desired discussion about a proposal for "defining"? Is your silence a "no"? Good Ol’factory (talk) 05:59, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Let the defining discussion begin. Alansohn (talk) 23:01, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Sweet; though I think I jumped the gun on saying the other one petered out. I didn't realise there was more that would be said. Good Ol’factory (talk) 23:28, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Let the defining discussion begin. Alansohn (talk) 23:01, 24 September 2009 (UTC)

Coincidence?
Dear Alan: I have noticed what appears to be a disturbing degree of coincidence in our editing topics. I hope you are not stalking my edits. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 22:36, 24 September 2009 (UTC) Btw: Did you attend Abraham Lincoln H.S. (Brooklyn)?
- No to both questions. I've sort of adopted Brooklyn as a topic of cleanup. There are 2,000 articles that should be subdivided in Category:People from Brooklyn alone. We both participate at CfD, and in your past 500 edits I see few articles in common other than Lou Bender and Abraham Lincoln High School (plus a few others), but I edited both of those before you did. Perhaps you're stalking me? Alansohn (talk) 23:00, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- I guess seeing your name so often at the Lincoln High School page (which is on my watchlist) and at so many AFDs is what made me get a little paranoid. Sorry. No offense. Rms125a@hotmail.com (talk) 01:29, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Rippowam High School
I'm just a tad curious as to why you reverted my edit to the talk page on Rippowam High School. Your revert on Strawberry Lane, Hammond, Louisiana
I have reverted the Huggle revert you made on Strawberry Lane, Hammond, Louisiana because the creator did not vandalize the article or add any BLP=defaming material. Monument101 (talk · contribs) improved the article and removed the prod. Prods can be removed by anyone, even the page creator (I'm sure you know this already.). Your final warning message to Monument101 is very bitey and may have caused this user to stop making improvements to the article. Could you strike out the final warning you gave to Monument101 and leave a message to the new user explaining that the user did not vandalize Wikipedia? Thanks, Cunard (talk) 06:19, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

- Size-wise it seems fine. Do you have a hook for the article? Alansohn (talk) 03:42, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Stop.
I have recently added content to the List of Characters in Metalocalypse, only for it to be deleted repetedly. The content may have SEEMED offensive, but if you were familliar with the show in any way you'd KNOW that the content was true. On top of that all you would need to do is actaully read the article to realize that my content was verifyable, instead of reading the first paragraph of it and deciding that I was vandalizing. I think Wikipedia would be a better place if you wouldn't delete content of others in a subject you obviously know absolutly nothing of. And I know I'm not the only one you've done this too, and now your saying my account will be deleted because you know nothing about the articles you're supposedly "cleaning up". So from now on, before deleting the content of others, make sure you actually know what you're doing. Stay off of articles you don't know anything about if you're looking to clean things up. So what? Are you just going to not reply to this? I'd like an apology please. -Jordan

Edit on Chetniks
The section that i removed was not ever proven nor did it include documentation. Historians have never accused Draza Mihailovich of mass murder. The title of the section itself is intended to inflame by using 1990's terminology in the context of WWII. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnMSJ (talk • contribs) 03:56, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Eyes
I was offering advice. Have you ever been poked in the eye? With a finger, key or otherwise? I bet you didn't like it very much. 92.12.119.209 (talk) 12:25, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
Hypersonic effect
Please don't make reverts in future without first reading the discussion page. Meyer Moran has nothing to do with ultrasonics, and the reference is completely irrelevant. The source files do not contain ultrasonic material, and so provide nothing of relevance to the hypersonic effect. Cheers and thanks (KrodMandooon (talk) 12:28, 13 October 2009 (UTC))

How dare you
Specious, qualitative judgments of other people's edits based on willful ignorance and purposeful misinterpretation of important principles are against Wikipedia policy and have no business being committed here. If your argument isn't strong enough to convince your opponents (or anyone else for that matter) you have no business reverting an article using such transparent tactics. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.32.188.25 (talk) 17:07, 13 October 2009 (UTC)

Personal reference
You, understandably so, wrote me informing why my edit to BYD Auto page was edited back out by Fleetham. I would like to petition an exception based on the "ignore all rules" idea of creating an honest, informative encyclopedia. The information provided is based on personal experience at the car show, observing the vehicles and people's reactions and critiques of the vehicles. I have a couple of pictures to back up the leaks I claim. I believe the idea behind Wikipedia and the "ignore all rules" rule is an open, honest, and unbiased source, even if that requires information to be based on personal knowledge. I am not attempting to discredit BYD, as I did not edit out any of the positive information, and praised the interior quality of the vehicles. Please let me know if seeing my pictures would allow my edit to stand. Thank you. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.241.56.178 (talk) 13:17, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Wikipedia is built on reliable (WP:RS) and verifiable (WP:V) sources. While I don't doubt that your report is accurate, I have no way of confirming it to a source in a book, magazine or newspaper. Given the scope of the problems, such as fluids leaking in the display car, it's hard not too expect that the incident would have been covered in the local media. Please add the required sources and please review WP:NOR which documents policy about the "original research" you have done on the subject. Please feel free to reach out with any other questions. Edit done on the Gainesville, Florida article
Hi! I noticed you reverted my edit of a link about the University of Florida. I changed that link because it was incorrect; the text of the article said something to the effect that the Gainesville campus was the third-largest in the US, but linked to an enrollment list instead, on which UF was further down. UF was indeed third on the campus-size list, so I changed the link thinking that was originally what the text of the article intended. I apologize if I made this assumption in error; otherwise, please change it so that the correct link is reflected in the text. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.3.67.124 (talk) 21:16, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Let me review the changes and ensure that the correct link is used. I will remove the warning as soon as possible. Alansohn (talk) 21:19, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I don't make many changes, but I try to correct things when I notice they appear incorrect. Usually I just stick to typos and blatant vandalism. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 173.3.67.124 (talk) 00:03, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello
Regarding this edit I don't really believe that the edit was Vandalism, maybe just a bit of confusion.--SKATER Speak. 22:36, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- There should have been more reverted. Check subsequent and previous edits from the editor in question about the giant squid. Alansohn (talk) 02:04, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
About the article Thinking
It seems to me, that there is not room for a real discussion about subjects on Wikipedia.
Now, my attempts to reflect upon what thinking is, have been eradicated twice now, by
experienced editor's, without a comment. To me it seems that there is a censorship
involved in this type of behaviour, and that is, by my opinion not fruitfull for
the wonderful service that Wikipedia is. I am restoring my article on 'Thinking'.
Now, if you have any objections, we can talk on the discussion pages. Hribers (talk) 22:53, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
WHY
do you "editors" take this so seriously? The children at deland high schools just wish to get a laugh every now and then and would appreciate it if you "editors" wouldnt delete them so quickly. In addition if you were intelligent in any way you would see that there are a few other things on the page that shouldnt be there but as I have noticed you aren't the sharpest tack. I'm sure you don't anything better to do than delete articles on wikipedia, so enjoy your boring, meaningless life and I will be on my way. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.104.64.44 (talk) 02:22, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Think this is your minus
Vandalism is any addition, removal, or change of content made in a deliberate attempt to compromise the integrity of Wikipedia... Any good-faith effort to improve the encyclopedia, even if misguided or ill-considered, is not vandalism... Please read the Vandalism article again.
Please do not think highly of yourself to have the rights of accusing others of Vandalism. I have not done it deliberately in my attempt to contribute to Wikipedia. If I (the real person) really have the intention (and i do not have the intention to vandalize) to vandalize pages, you think you can really stop me by threatening to block me with the “nature” of Wikipedia architecture? Please.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Davidyeotb (talk • contribs)
- Adding material that represents original research (See WP:NOR) and is unsourced personal opinion will be removed as vandalism. Alansohn (talk) 17:38, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- WP:NOR stated "Wikipedia does not publish original research or original thought" and did not stated it is vandalism". I understand where you coming from now, but please do not use strong word such as vandalize (guess that is why so many defaced your pages), unless you have seen the history of that person proven to be doing so deliverately and repeatedly. You know? It really hurting when you try to do good and someone just "accuse" you of the negative. I would be more thankful if you have shown me WP:NOR first and not use such strong word.
