Template:Infobox Indian jurisdiction Tundla (Hindi: टून्डला) is a town and a municipal board in Firozabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Geographic

Tundla is located at 27.2° N 78.28° E[1]. It has an average elevation of 168 metres (551 feet). Tundla is 24 km away from the city of Taj Mahal, Agra. Tundla has a rich heritage of British rule, high walled British constructions, huge barracks, a Catholic church built in 1887, kothis [Bungalows] of officers surrounded by sprawling lawns, displays Tundla as the main center of British Administration during there regime and world war I, II. It is a small town with rich culture and is enriched with old and beautiful British buildings which are now converted into railway quarters.

Tundla has one of the oldest church in northern India. Famouslly Known as Holy family Church. This church is taken care by the Samuels. They are one of the oldest families in this town.

Tundla has produced several eminent personalities in the recent years, including Bollywood actor Raj Babbar, internationally known energy journalist & TV commentator Narendra Taneja , mathematician Dr B L Sharma, Human Right activist and Advocate for Supreme Court of India Mr. Jetendra Singh is also from Tundla (chulhawali).

Seth Lal Jain and Chairman Bhagwan Swaroop Jain developed the town during British regime. Their family tree still reside in the town.

Ch Multan Singh, the senior Leader, chairman, MLA [four times] Member of parliament [three times] did much in making of this city better.

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[1], Tundla had a population of 40,336. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Tundla has an average literacy rate of 72%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 78%, and female literacy is 66%. In Tundla, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
