Bhawana City (Bhowana) (Urdu: بهوانه) is a tehsil of Chiniot District and a city of Punjab, Pakistan. It was made a tehsil of Chiniot District on 2 February 2009 when Mian Shahbaz Sharif (Chief Minister of Punjab) came to Chiniot to make it a district. Before that, Bhawana City had been a sub-tehsil of Chiniot and Chiniot had been a tehsil of Jhang District.
Geography and climate
Bhawana City is located on the banks of the Chenab River. It is among the area's largest agriculture cities. It is situated 36 km from Chiniot, 50 km from Faisalabad, 46 km from Jhang and 70 km from Sargodha. Its weather is like much of Pakistan's, with summer, spring, winter and autumn seasons. Its temperatures are moderate.
History
Bhawana City is an ancient city of Pakistan. Its original name was "Bhowana", written in Urdu as "بهوانه". Its name's suffix, "ana", means "Sial". "Ana" is a suffix that appears in the name of every sub-tribe of the Sial, such as Jabuana, Rahmuana and Chuchkana. "Bhawana" is also the name of a tribe of Sial families. Many Sial families reside in this area. Zaheerudin Babar wrote about the area in his book Tuzk-e-Babari for its best architect and best handcraft-jharokas.[clarification needed]
Until 2 February 2009, Bhawana was a sub-tehsil of Chiniot. On 2 February 2009, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab (Pakistan), came and made Chiniot a district and declared Bhawana City and Lalian to be tehsils.
Language
Bhawana City's most commonly spoken languages are Punjabi, Jhangochi and Chinioti. Allah Ditta Looney Wala, a famous singer in the Punjabi language, is a resident of Bhawana City. Bhawana's language is mix of Saraiki and Jhangochi (Jaangli) languages.
Religion
The religion of Bhawana City is Islam. A few Christians also reside here.[citation needed]
There is a Hindu temple named "Mouza Salman" located 14 km from Bhawana City. It was established in the Mughal era.
Mirzaei also live in an area of Chiniot District named Chenab Nagar (or Rabwah), 10 km from Chiniot and 46 km from Bhawana City.
Muslims are differentiated into many groups, like Sunni, Shia, Wahabi, Deobandi, etc. The majority in Bhawana are Sunni Muslims. Muslims pray in masajids, which are briefly described below. There are some madrassas in Bhawana City, in which free education is given to boys and girls. They study both religious and non-religious subjects there.

Masjid al-Hussain
Masjid al-Hussain is the oldest masjid of Bhawana City. It is located at Old Lari Ada of Bhawana City. It is a Hanafi group masjid. It was established in the era of the British Empire by Peer Manzar Hussain Shah, who is buried in the Colony of Bhawana City. Now there is a madrasah named Madrasah Jamia Hanafia Ghousia where many children study.
Masjid al-Faizan-e-Madina
Masjid al-Faizan-e-Madina is a masjid of the Hanafi group located near the main bazaar of Bhawana City. It is also a markaz of Faizan-e-Madina (Madni Channel).

Bhawana City did not have as many towns and villages when it was a sub-tehsil of Chiniot Tehsil, but since it became a tehsil itself, there are many towns and villages around it. Its affiliated towns and villages include: Adlana, Arbianwala, Beriyanwala, Bhalowala, Chak No. 229 (Keemey Ka), Hakimwala, Jamiabad, Jamia Muhammadi sharif, Kot Nijabat, Mangoana, Nalka Adda(Hussainabad), Noshehra, Pathankot, School Khanuana, Sherabad, Tahli Mangeeni, Thatha Fateh Ali, and Thatha Jahm.
