Central Asia located as a region of the world

Welcome to WikiProject Central Asia. This project aims to expand, cleanup and wikify, better organize, and neutralize the point of view on articles related to Central Asia, a vast landlocked region of Asia with both a rich culture and history. For centuries Central Asia has been home to various classifications of Turkic and Iranian peoples as well as Mongols and Tibetans. Small but significant minorites such as Russians and Han Chinese also live in region. Islam is the predominant religion (mostly of the Sunni sect), closely followed by Tibetan Buddhism. There are also small pockets of Christians, Bukharan Jews, and Hindus as well. The usual definition of the region encompasses Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, western Pakistan (North West Frontier Province and Baluchistan), Xinjiang, Tibet, Central Asian portions of Russia, and Khorasan, Iran. It is hoped that topics regarding these areas will be ehanced through this project as well as the knowledge of fellow Wikipedians and outside readers. If you would like to help, please inquire on the talk page.
