Odd message
Not sure if this is the right place to ask - when I logged in just now on the English wiki, I had a notification at the top of the page telling me I'd been sent a new message on the Turkish wikipedia, where I do not have an account, ostensibly last August (though I'm certain it wasn't there last time I logged in). The notification message has now vanished, though the (spurious?) welcome message remains. Not sure if any of that's legit, and I don't really understand it if it is? Any idea what's going on, or who to ask? Thanks! AJN (talk) 00:07, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- FWIW, a few days ago I received notices about (apparent - I could not read them) welcome messages on three non-English WPs, none of them very recent. Can't seem to find them in the list now, one may have been Persian. I ignored them after a few seconds of puzzlement. I wonder if there's a way to see what user and talk pages exist for an account globally (I really don't want to look at all 291 wikis individually)? Rwessel (talk) 00:30, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) :When you create a Wikipedia account, you automatically create accounts on other (Global) sites. You can see this by clicking on preferences at the top of any page and then on 'global account info.' If at any time you have accessed a page on Turkish Wiki., whilst logged in, this will have been 'logged' and the welcome message automatically generated. Eagleash (talk) 00:36, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) And of course there is a tool: https://tools.wmflabs.org/meta/userpages/ And there are several additional welcome messages out there in places I've never edited. Rwessel (talk) 00:38, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- It's not necessary (as far as I can tell) to have actually edited, just to have accessed a page. Eagleash (talk) 00:41, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Please see this thread for more information on the issue...Jokulhlaup (talk) 09:40, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks for all the explanations. So the basic answer is that cross-wiki notifications, generated by simply browsing while logged in, have been delayed in showing up and are now bouncing into view? AJN (talk) 23:07, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- I think I've come up with a possible better explanation, at least for some of these. It seems that several articles which I've edited have recently been imported into other language wikis, which copies the edit history. So I do, in fact, have edits (of a sort) in some of these other language wikis. Rwessel (talk) 06:23, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

- @Anuj90: Alright. I will take this discussion to your talk page. A bit occupied right now, so I will reply later. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 10:00, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Anuj90,for your previous question about why the page may be deleted, this is because in Wikipedia we only have articles if the subject is notable. In your case, the subject "Aditi Singh" is an actor. The specific notability guidelines can be found at WP:NACTOR. If she satisfies this, then there may be an article. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 10:06, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Hello, Anuj90. If she is a "new debutant" actress, it is very likely that she does not yet meet Wikipedia's criteria for Notability: please see WP:UPANDCOMING. The fact that "we really want her page to be put up on Wikipedia" indicates that you are her in order to promote her, rather than to improve Wikipedia. --ColinFine (talk) 10:08, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
Communication on talk pages
Hi, hope this is the right place to ask.
I've got a bit lost in all the how to / FAQS / reference pages. I made a change and some someone reverted it. I wanted to discuss it with them on the talk pages, but I'm not sure how to let them know I did it. I posted their name to begin with, before figuring out how to make it a blue link. I'm unsure as to whether that's going to attract their attention or not? Could someone advise? When is it appropriate or not appropriate to notify someone? Should I have written on the user page instead?
The talk page in question is here Talk:The_Amber_Spyglass

- You can use Template:Reply to. Or you can also use {{u|Example}} --Lemongirl942 (talk) 06:56, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- You can also simply use User:Example and it will send a notification. (Please don't forget to sign your post though, otherwise the notification may not be sent). Generally, I prefer to send a notification only the first time. Once a discussion starts, it is usually not used (as most editors add the page to their watchlist). --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:00, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

- If you are asking about the peculiar formatting in Shashi Kumar (Arjun), it is because a leading space on a line prevents proper formatting, see Help:Wiki markup#Limiting formatting / escaping wiki markup. What is more significant is that there is no evidence that the subject of the article meets Wikipedia's definition of notability, hence the article has been tagged for speedy deletion. I have put some useful links on your user talk page, including WP:Your first article. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:42, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
- Note also that the standard of English in the attempted article is not good enough for the English Wikipedia. If you haven't got a good enough command of English, then you would be better off editing a Wikipedia in your own native language. --David Biddulph (talk) 11:46, 20 May 2016 (UTC)
Interlanguage wikilinks
I have been copyediting some articles that appear to have originated in non-English wikipedias. I often run across terms that I would like to link, but the only available wikilink is a interlanguage one. Should I add these wikilinks using the same criteria used for English links, or is it better to keep these links to a minimum? Leschnei (talk) 13:19, 20 May 2016 (UTC)

Too much depth template?
This is oddly a question that I've never had to ask in 10 years on Wikipedia. Is there a template for "Too much depth". I'm looking at History of Scouting in the Philippines and having problems getting the author to understand that much of this (like the bios) is too much depth for Wikipedia. I welcome a page on the History of Scouting in the Philippines, but there is enough there for 4 or 5 articles and I'm not sure all of it is suitable. I'm really not trying to frighten this user away and I'd like to see their entire effort off-wikipedia, much of it is wonderful... Referencing errors on Paradesi Jews
Reference help requested.
Thanks, Davvidlevi (talk) 04:46, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hello, your edit here seems to have produced the ref errors as it was at that point that the large red letters appeared in the references section. You have removed a 'base' ref (I.e. <ref name=XXX>{{reference}}</ref>) whilst leaving subsequent 'secondary' refs (<ref name=XXX/>) in place with nothing for them to refer to. Fixed by restoring the full reference to the first instance of each ref name. I might also suggest that some reading up on formatting references might help. If you've not seen it already WP:REFB would be a good place to start. Eagleash (talk) 10:37, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Deleted Article about prominent Chicago Architect / Want to resubmit without involving :UserJohnCD /Need feedback
Dear staff at Wikipedia, Wikipedia users, and Help Desk,
Two years ago my sandbox article I was working on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Blue_Shakti/Sandbox was deleted. The sandbox was a work in progress for many years.
I was a novice to Wikipedia, and was not aware of the proper deletion review process, nor Wikipedia guidelines, nor rules. Instead of working with me the man that deleted my research and sandbox, decided to do the exact opposite.
I feel a good part of my very legitimate and accurate research was entirely dismissed and deleted by :UserJohnCD .
I realize the second part of my article; which I could see be considered as WP:COATRACK or WP:FRINGEDRAFT by readers. However, that being said that was not a reason to delete the entire article or at least suggestion that I edit it.
The article I was working on, in it entirety, was deleted.
User:Binksternet first flagged my draft by claiming the article was WP:COATRACK, and abandoned. I never abandoned the article.
User:JohnCD stated that it contained material which UserJohnCd objected to referencing WP:FRINGEDRAFT.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:JohnCD
User:JohnCd called the author's work and research bogus, and slurs such "crackpot," paranoid", and wild" etc. were used as justification for deleting the entire draft.
While :UserJohnCD had his opinions on the draft such brash words were unnecessary and not professional. I don't see why neither of them assisted and guided a newbie at Wikipedia, instead of taking such totalitarian actions. They could have assisted in order to keep the biography part of article which is all based on facts. I think they should have acted in a kinder manner - instead of being so harsh to a first time user.
The sandbox had been up since 2010, while I continued to do research. :UserJohnCD decided to delete the whole sandbox.
Instead of suggesting I remove the subjects that might be considered by some "conspiracy, WP:FRINGEDRAFT"; USER:JohnCD deleted the whole sandbox stating on his final :talk, "The sandbox work will never yield a notable biography for Wikipedia."
The article in question may have contained material that would be considered "conspiracy" by USER:JohnCD and others.
However, the first part of the article was dedicated to the Church Architect William M Cooley, whom USER:JohnCD called a "purported Architect."
I see no reason why :UserJohnCD , instead of hashing out insults like "crackpot" and "paranoid," did not just work with the author to assist in keeping the vast majority of the article which was the biography of William M Cooley. He could have suggested revising the article to remove anything he deemed as "paranoid" or "crackpot." Perhaps even recommend a place where I could get other more experienced Wikipedia users to assist me.
In other words, why delete the whole article on a whim?
I would like to resubmit and article about Church Architect William M Cooley, without material that might fall under "fringe."
However here it states that I have to do so with :JohnCD.
https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Blue_Shakti/Sandbox&action=edit&redlink=1
"A page with this title has previously been deleted. If you are creating a new page with different content, please continue. If you are recreating a page similar to the previously deleted page, or are unsure, please first contact the deleting administrator using the information provided below."
I do not feel comfortable contacting the deleting adminstrator :JohnCD, as I feel he was not only biased, but unfair. He has not only called the author's research paranoid, and numerous other derogatory terms. But most importantly, dismissed the actual biography of said Church Architect William M Cooley. He did so just because he did not like the second part of the article, and failed to do his own research - even stating that the architect was a "purported" architect.
For USER:JohnCD to have deleted all the research, including what would be considered "nonfringe" seems to be overkill.
Years of research at the Chicago Museum of History, hundred's of old newspaper articles, ancestry research, old radio clips, and even emails research from law enforcement went into the draft of the biography. Furthermore, my account was deleted as well.
Now six years later I would like to submit a new article about William M Cooley architect, without anything "fringe".
As he was not a "purported" architect as user :JohnCD suggests. He was a real engineer and architect who worked on hundred's of churches in Chicago and around the United States, and no biography exists of him till this day. He was an amazing and important historical figure in Chicago's history.
I question how :UserJohnCD would come to such a totalitarian reason to delete the whole draft article.
The first part contained a biography which was in the process of work after years of research backed by more than enough reliable and factual references. Instead of suggesting any edits the whole article draft/ research was scrapped because according to one man "The sandbox work will never yield a notable biography for Wikipedia."
Fortunately, several people copied my sandbox and put it up around the web ( including a well-known author),
Will I be able to resubmit a revised copy without anything that might violate, or perhaps upset (:UserJohnCd) ?
Will he try to remove the article again? Can I get other people to review the article? Can I get feedback and assistance with my new article from others? Do I have to go about finding someone more knowledgeable with the Wikipedia format to assist? If so - how do I go about this?
In other words, can I work on a revised edition about a prominent architect without the fear of someone like :JohnCD coming and taking it down?
Can I ask for a balance of powers so to speak within the Wikipedia ; so it is not just :UserJohnCd?
While I can understand the part that talks about what happened to second and third generation members of William M Cooley might not meet Wikipedia standards. It was still in draft, and could have been edited out without a need to delete not only the whole article. Feedback would have been appreciated, but instead, author/researcher was called names.
I was not aware of Wikipedia rules, and told the :UserJohnCD that I felt he was slandering the author, and said I considered taking legal action. I never called him any names, and I felt his attitude to a draft, and an author was a bit odd. I now understand I violated Wiki rules when writing my response to him. However, I was not given a "warning" as he stated. No warning, no more talk - :UserJohnCD went even further and deleted my entire account.
There was no need to dismiss the entire article and years of research. Also, the name calling and smear tactics were not professional in my opinion.
I hope now that so much time has passed, I will be able to submit the article about William M Cooley again. It does not seem right to erase a known architect's biography, strictly because :UserJohnCD found fault with the second part of the article.\
I think my research on William M Cooley, and a newly revised biography that meets Wikipedia standards. I believe it WILL yield a notable biography that will be of benefit to Wikipedia- unlike what :UserJohnCD suggests.
In conclusion, I would like to resubmit a biography on William M Cooley, without any considered "Fringe topics." I am hoping to do so without someone coming along and deleting an accurate and legitimate biography, based on years of research, and backed up my hundreds of articles, and a multitude of sources. Has enough time passed? Also, how do I go about getting a fair review of my new revised article?
Thank you in advance and Kindest Regards,
Blue shakti711 (talk) 05:52, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Here are radio interviews of Architect William M Cooley whom :UserJohnCd claims to be a "purported" architect. If user JohnCd: is such a self purported "wikisloth" as he prides himself on, how can he not do his own research on an actual architect?
William M Cooley was not a "purported Architect" imagined by the author as "UserJohnCd tries to infer.
Also who exactly is :JohnCD to say that the biography of said Architect will not be a contribution to the Wikipedia database? Absurd abuse of admin powers to state that such a brilliant man's biography is not important, in my opinion.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Blue_Shakti/Sandbox William Mack Cooley Sr- Chicago Architect William Mack Cooley, (1925-1966) was a prominent Chicago architect who specialized in church design. William Cooley was a talented architect with an altruistic spirit, ahead of his time in both his architectural designs and socio-political views. William Cooley's firm Cooley & Boore A.I.A. designed over 400 churches - mainly in the mid western United States. His churches can be found in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Kentucky, Georgia, and Indiana. Cooley's firm won seventeen national awards for church design. There remains many unanswered questions as to what truly happened to Architect William Mack Cooley the fatal night of his auto accident on July 16, 1966[2]. William Cooley was the sole heir of his father's estate which included 50 percent of the stock of the Allen & Garcia company. Allen and Garcia was the largest coal and mining company in the United States at the time of Harry Cooley's death. Cooley's father, Harry B Cooley was the Vice President of Allen and Garcia.[3] According to the Lake County Inquest on the body of the Architect William M Cooley Sr. there were no witnesses to his accident, no autopsy report, and Cooley was announced "dead on arrival". Two death certificates were issued for Architect William M Cooley Sr. The first death certificate was signed by Pat Orville Clavey. Clavey was a Lake County Sheriff who some years later was sent to Federal Prison for his mob connections[1]. The "temporary" death certificate contains many errors, and edits . On an odd note - the birth date on Cooley's Sr.'s death certificate was not his own - Clavey wrote the birth date of Cooley Sr.'s eldest son, William M Cooley Jr., who was only 15 at the time of his father's death. Despite the fact that Cooley Sr. died alone with no family members or witnesses present, Clavely wrote down the day and month of Cooley Sr.'s son on the 1966 temporary death certificate.[2] Cooley Jr. was the principle heir to Cooley Sr's estate[3] which included one half of the Allen and Garcia shares. Like his father, Cooley Jr would die in 1992 - the same age as his father under odd circumstances as well. The second and final death certificate was issued to Cooley Sr. after a jury inquest was held to investigate the cause of William Cooley's demise. The Lake County Jury Inquest on the body of the architect William M Cooley was held on August 4, 1966 before the Chief Deputy Coroner of Lake County William Wood at the Stirlin Peiper funeral home - almost a month after William Cooley Sr. died. During the inquest nobody from the night Cooley died was available to testify - not even the original coroner , and later felon - Pat Orville Clavey. Chief Deputy Coroner of Lake County William Wood - stated during the jury inquest that it was an "incomplete" investigation. William Mack Cooley's remains are missing to this very day. Early Life[edit] William Mack Cooley was born on February 7, 1925 in Chicago. William Cooley was the son of Flora A Daboll and Harry B. Cooley. Cooley's father Harry B. Cooley, was the Vice President of Chicago's largest mining company Allen and Garcia. Cooley's childhood and teenage years were spent traveling around the world. Cooley spent his childhood years in France, England, Nova Scotia, Trinidad, and South America. In his early teens he lived in the Donbass Region of Siberia and the Soviet Union - while his father was working as an engineer for Allen and Garcia on the [Coal Basin Trust]. Cooley as a teenager was fascinated by Russian churches and culture. Upon returning to the United States, Cooley's family returned to Chicago where he lived with his father and mother at brownstone on North Granville Avenue Education[edit] William Cooley Sr. fervently began to study and pursue his career as a church Architect upon his return to the United States. During High School William Cooley studied at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1941. He later graduated from Senn High School in 1942. Questions and sorry for repost re William M Cooley Re Ian.Thomson - still need assistance
Dear Wikipedia Help Desk,
I posted a question about a deleted sandbox article by a :JohnCD earlier on today.
A response was made by ":Ian.thomson"
Probably should've just removed this Blue shakti711 (talk) 05:52, 21 May 2016 (UTC) See WP:NOTMEMORIAL and WP:42. Ian.thomson (talk) 06:16, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
Why should he have removed my question? I am quite in shock. I think I asked a valid question.
The article about Church Architect William M Cooley is in no way a Memorial page. I never even knew William M Cooley - architect. This just boggles my mind.
So the article has gone from being called "crazy" , etc by :JohnCd
Now my question about re writing the article is being dismissed by :Ian.Thomspn as a "memorial"?
The question included the old article;not the amended one.
And why would :Ian.Thomsonn say he should have just removed my question?
The help desk is here for a reason, and I don't think Mr. :Ian.Thompsn helped very much.
Replying that he should just remove my question - isn't very much help.
Can anyone out there please give me some guidance?
Why would an admin not help and just say " he should have just removed question?"
I would like my new article to be 100 percent up to Wikipedia standards.
Also do I have to worry about admins perhaps not wanting anything about this Architect being published on Wiki - so far it seems like every Wikipedia admin who is alerted to this wants anything about William M Cooley architect deleted.
Furthermore perhaps :Ian.Thomson might want to do a query on "William M Cooley" Architect on Google Books before stating WP:42 as a reason. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:The_answer_to_life,_the_universe,_and_everything
Here are the results from Google book query on said architect. Can anyone please assist me with this. Thank you in advance.
https://www.google.com/search?tbm=bks&q=William+M+Cooley+architect
I am open to suggestions, but I do not see how a revised version of an article bio on William M Cooley would not fir Wiki standards.
There were minor members of his company , and fellow architects that are mentioned on Wiki. Why is William M Cooley so objected to thus far? Thank you in advance.
Kind Regards.

Dear Wikipedia Help Desk.
I have answered to :ClubJustin , but my response is not appearing. :ClubJustin I am legally blind without my contact lenses on. Cooley's biography is not "full of nasty buggers"? That is terminology that someone who is only 5 years old would use. What evidence do you have that Cooley's bio will be "full of nasty buggers?"
I am shocked at the lack of any neutral and or positive help. I have only received insults and in my opinion skewed responses. No positive feedback, help, or guidelines.
- ClubJustin states it is "A history "full of nasty buggers?"
So confused at the lack of professionalism by the people who responded, but also at the continued elementary school smear campaigns. What is happening here?
Where are the other admins?
I know Wikipedia has some brilliant and kind minds and hearts out there willing to give some feedback that is not negative or downgrading.

Customized citation (possible WP:OWN violation)
I saw something on a few talk pages that had me raise an eyebrow. On Help talk:IPA for Tunisian Arabic, Talk:Tunisian Arabic and others, someone added a box with a "cutomized citation" that mentions four of the pages' editors with their contact info and some keywords and acknowledgement. The boxes make it look like these pages are scientific articles written by these four contributors. I'm not sure whether it's a violation of WP:OWN, but it definitely seems a bit strange to me. Should these boxes stay where they are? Abjiklɐm (tɐlk) 15:52, 21 May 2016 (UTC)

Requesting an amendment to a page that has been courtesy-blanked?
See Wikipedia:Arbitration/Requests/Case/Wikicology.
The archived decision in the page history contains a "finding of fact" whose title doesn't accurately reflect its contents. The adding of factual errors was apparently taken as less of a problem than the citing of sources that failed verification, and the actual wording of the decision reflected this, and two of the "principles" cited were specifically tied to the pieces of information that weren't formally included in the title of the finding of fact (as opposed to that one that was included in the title).
I have little confidence in ARCA in general, but since this is a simple clerical concern I was going to post one. Then I thought that an amendment would probably need to be absolutely necessary and not just a clerical concern for the page to be unblanked, amended and then blanked again.
Any idea if this has been done before, or if it's just too much red tape to worry about?

My edits?
As I am a new user, I had 92 edits in 20 hrs of my account started. I am a WikiGnome. Are my edits good and what can I do to improve them? Constructive criticism is welcomed! SwagBucks101101 (talk) 20:28, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- Personally, I'm not crazy about them. In this edit you changed a cited figure just to round it to the nearest full millimeter. If the source says 35.6, why change it? If that's what the source says, that's what should be there. Then in this edit, you edited another figure but didn't say why or where you got the information from. And according to the subject's official page on IAAF.org, neither figure is actually correct. Changing facts and figures seems to me like vandalism more than helping. Dismas|(talk) 20:49, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- At Veena Sood, you made an uncited statement about someone's ethnicity or religion. That's a serious WP:BLP problem. DMacks (talk) 21:00, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- This might or might not be an improvement (isn't the meaning obvious already?). But my concern is that it's definitely not a simple "typo" you are fixing, as you asserted in your edit summary. If you make changes beyond the scope or type of what the ES says, it might be seen as a bad-faith attempt to avoid scrutiny of your edits. DMacks (talk) 20:55, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- Furthermore, in this edit, you actually broke the italics instead of "fixed the quotes" as you claimed. Dismas|(talk) 20:59, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) Then with this edit, you claimed that the infant fish can grow up to 15 cm. Not only is that not in the source but what does it even mean? There normally isn't any upper bound on an "infant's" size. Would you also say that a human infant could grow to 8' 11"? Obviously they're not an infant then. Dismas|(talk) 21:08, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- On a positive note, it is appreciated that you came and asked - far better to learn how to do it right early.--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:07, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- I have noticed that the majority of your edits have already been reverted. Many were questionable or otherwise unhelpful, for a variety of different reasons. I would suggest you slow down and only make well thought out useful changes. Mb66w (talk) 02:56, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Ah, it's the section above without a heading. Sorry! Does this refer to Rhodes-Livingstone? You will need to place your references between the ref tags (<ref></ref>) immediately after the fact you wish to source. You will also need to add a heading thus ==References== and on the next line {{reflist}}. The references will then appear under the heading and numbered. Template anomalies
Hello, some regular monitors of this page might be aware of a long-term disruptive editor of Formula One articles. He has recently created an account and despite being warned, it seems he has copied Template:Team Penske in Formula One (after blanking the page) to Template:Penske Cars. Furthermore he has created a template for British Racing Partnership, which can be found on that page. The view-talk-edit symbols are more or less illegible due to the colours used but if you can click on them it takes you to Template:BRP which is something completely different. However, one of my colleagues at the F1 project says the links work for him. I cannot seem to edit the 'new' template even to suggest it be removed. (Speedied). It is pretty useless anyway and it would be speedied as not notable or at least taken to TfD by the F1 project in normal circs. Grateful for any help you can give. Thanks. Eagleash (talk) 21:47, 21 May 2016 (UTC)
- The author of Template:Team Penske in Formula One copy-paste moved it to Template:Penske Cars. That's usually disallowed but it doesn't break our license when it's done by the sole author of the content so I just redirected the former to the latter. The target of V T E links is determined by a
name
parameter in a navbox. If the links are wrong then identify the real template name in the source of a page using the template, and correct the name parameter in the template. Here it is {{British Racing Partnership}}.name
had already been fixed [1] but it can take time before pages using a template are automatically updated to reflect changes. I purged British Racing Partnership to force the update. I haven't evaluated whether the templates are suitable. You are free to nominate them for deletion. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:11, 21 May 2016 (UTC)- Many thanks. As it had already been fixed partly explains why I couldn't view it properly and why someone else could. I've been able to edit to remove things not usually included and will discuss how the project wishes to deal with other members. Thanks again. Eagleash (talk) 00:04, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- PS, I couldn't correct it as clicking on the 'E' symbol took me, at that time, to Template:BRP...relating to the Filipino Navy. It needed the cache/purge tweaks to fix that. Eagleash (talk) 15:28, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Re assistance William M Cooley
I finally received helpful assistance in the chatroom! They read my help question, and answered without any negative overtones, and in a very professional manner. My faith has been resorted in Wikipedia. They also mentioned that my original question was too verbose, and that might have confused some people. I'd like to state that I am starting a new article without anything fringe. The article will strictly focus on the Architect himself, and his work. It will not be written in any way that can be considered a memorial page either. Architect Cooley deserves a page about his work - despite what :JohnCD states. All of the information comes directly from his files at The American Institute of Architects, Chicago History Museum, published books, numerous magazine articles, and hundreds of newspaper articles. There are hundreds of churches around the US that this architect built before he died at the age of 40. That is a lot of work for someone so young. That in itself is notable.
Also, I would like to mention on a final note; even if what someone writes does not resonate with a particular person - there is no need for name calling. The amount of negative words :JohnCD used was over the top. All he had to do was write that it was fringe, and conspiracy, and leave it at that. Words such as paranoid, crackpot, crazy, really were not needed in order to delete the sandbox. Very unprofessional imho. It was just my sandbox where I was collecting information, and learning how to use Wikipedia.I never submitted the article as it was still a work in progress. I now fully understand what Wikioedia will and will not accept. Thanks to all; even to those who were somewhat caustic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Blue shakti711 (talk • contribs) 03:29, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

- Documentation at {{Infobox video game}} says: "The ideal image is an English-language cover or, in the case of an arcade game, a promotional flier. Secondarily, use a logo or foreign-language cover. When cover designs differ between regions, use the cover from the region associated with the game's first English language release, though do not change another English-language version that has been uploaded first." – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 21:44, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Meaningless edit summaries
Now here's an interesting one. How to we deal with somebody who makes meaningless edit summaries. For some months now an anonymous ip has been adding information to articles relating to British television and adding edit summaries that make no sense. A couple of examples of what I mean can be found in the edit histories of 217.42.148.229 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) and 109.158.11.20 (talk · contribs · WHOIS), but there are scores of them knocking about. I have on occasion queried the meaning of these edits with the user concerned, but never receive an answer. Recently I have even took to issuing a couple of user warnings, but the user continues unabashed. They are even happy to edit war whenever the edits have been undone, which a few people have done in recent days. The edits themselves seem like fairly reasonable edits, and if the person added an appropriate edit summary then there wouldn't be an issue. But the whole thing is just quite bizarre (almost like some kind of secret code), as well as being mildly irritating. What is the best way to approach this? This is Paul (talk) 17:18, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- I have occasionally in the past seen complaints about weird or bizarre edit summaries by unregistered editors. My advice is to ignore meaningless or bizarre edit summaries. If they are making constructive edits, let them make constructive edits. If they are making non-constructive edits or reverting constructive edits, the best approach is to try to discuss on the article talk page, and, if that does not work, request semi-protection. Meaningless or weird edit summaries are far less of a problem than insulting or hostile edit summaries, which are a form of personal attack. Occasionally insulting or obscene edit summaries are redacted, but I see no reason to have stupid edit summaries redacted. The use of edit summaries is only encouraged and not required anyway, so that the real question with stupid or weird edit summaries is the edits themselves. If the edits are all right, let them be. If you disagree with the edits, try to discuss. If discussion with unregistered editors fails, semi-protection is often in order. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:01, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I think I'm just a bit perplexed by it all. This is Paul (talk) 20:12, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- What we have is a human behind the IP addresses who is trying to perplex us, so just ignore them unless their edits are problematical. Robert McClenon (talk) 20:23, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Why are these two charts acting differently? One results in bold text, while the other does not.
Please take a look at these two charts, located here: User talk:Joseph A. Spadaro/Sandbox/Page79. Why are these two charts acting differently? Specifically, I am referring to the final row at the bottom of each chart. In Chart Number 1, the entries in that final row are all bold text. In Chart Number 2, they are not. What exactly is causing this difference? Or, namely, why are the entries in Chart Number 1 bold text (in the last row at the bottom), when I did not include any commands to bold them? Thanks. Thanks. I read that page. Wikipedia "tutorials" are notoriously difficult to understand. What exactly does the "|" symbol do? And what exactly does the "!" symbol do? And how are they different exactly? Thanks. Joseph A. Spadaro (talk) 23:45, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Notifications, and ping-template when manually archiving a talk page
Hi. I use template:ping a lot on my talk page. If I manually archive my talk page, is there any danger of re-notifying a bunch of editors? Are /Archive pages prevented from sending notifications? I figure this is probably common enough that it's accounted for, but I couldn't find a answer. I know I could set up a bot for this, but I prefer manual archives for my own talk page. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 20:45, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Grayfell: Notifications only trigger when a signature is added to accompany the ping template. So as long as you don't resign your archive as you are archiving them you do not run the risk of repinging anyone. --Majora (talk) 21:21, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, so that's how it works! That's clever. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 00:34, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
Where to report non-free images?
On my watchlist, a user added non-free images to Shawn Mendes. When I looked at the files, one photo was directly taken from a magazine website, which I am certain is not free for usage. Another one had no indication where it came from, but a user by the name of Love shawn uploaded it and claimed it as their own, which I am also certain it isn't. Can someone indicate me where I should report this or, even better, would help me with this? Thanks, Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} ♑ 21:35, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- The image (File:Shawn Mendes2016.jpg) has already been nominated for deletion on Wikimedia Commons where it was uploaded. Nominating copyvio images for deletion is the correct course of action, because simply removing them from the article still leaves the images hosted. Some uses of non-free images are acceptable, so calling these images copyright violations is more appropriate in this case. – Finnusertop (talk ⋅ contribs) 21:40, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you for your help. I was trying to nominate it for deletion through Wikipedia, but I forgot there was Commons and so on. Even then, I wouldn't know how to do it anyways. Again, thank you. Callmemirela 🍁 {Talk} ♑ 21:45, 22 May 2016 (UTC)
Hide one user's edits from watchlist
Is it possible to hide all edits by a specific user from your watchlist? I know it's possible to hide your own/bots/minor/etc, but I want something like a blacklist that I can type in users' names and no longer see their edits. There is one editor that has been making small edits to the category structure of many items on my watchlist for quite some time, and he is filling up my watchlist with what to me are trivial and unimportant edits. This makes it more likely for me to miss actual relevant edits among the mass of these trivial ones. He does mark all his edits a minor, but I would rather not have to hide all minor edits because some I find relevant.. just not the ones from him. Anyone know of such a tool? Thanks!--Dudemanfellabra (talk) 22:30, 22 May 2016 (UTC)

Edits to original article on Maharajbag Zoo, Nagpur, India
I noticed some very old and outdated facts, making up what would presently be a rather distorted, one-sided report, which I am trying to update. As first step, I have carried out some deletes.

Re assistance William M Cooley
Hi :Robert McClenon, I did not want to even come back to this page after all the negative responses, but I did. Your question was valid and not negative. Just to clarify I am not requesting for the Sandbox to be restored as I realized it did not fit Wiki standards. I will most likely ask for assistance from an editor, and remove anything that contains any "fringe", and write an article that focuses strictly on the Architect William M Cooley and his work. As per the user stating that there is a 2-year-old legal threat - that is absurd. I did not know Wikipedia guidelines when I wrote that. I was in shock at being called so many names by :JohnCD. I think my reaction was one of human nature. It was just a sanbox and had been there for quite sometime. It was when people, and authours started copying and pasting on the internet that :JohnCD and the user who worked at Bohemian Grove Club were alerted and took it down 4 years later. I have since done my research, reading and watching videos of the founder of Wikipedia, and his philosophy. I fully understand that was a big no-no in "Wikiworld." There does NOT exist two-year legal threat. Whoever wrote that is just stirring the pot. I have read the rules and now fully understand them. I just want to write an article that fits Wiki standards. That is all. No more , no less. Kindest Regards Blue shakti711 (talk) 05:18, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hi, what article did you edit? Did you use a different account to post it? If yes, then please tell us the other account so that I can look at the article. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 05:36, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- That would be Blue Shakti. The legal threat was placed by an IP, 50.0.172.159, which the Shakti admits above to have been himself. --Orange Mike | Talk 06:40, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Orangemike. I just saw similar threads above by the same editor. I had a look at the article as well and unfortunately I don't think it should be restored, as it would be misuse of Wikipedia as a web host. (See this). I am doubtful if the article subject is notable enough as well. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:00, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- @Blue shakti711 It would be best if you don't make any more legal threats from now on. I understand that it happened 2 years ago and you edited using an IP. Going forward, please use only stick to this account. If you want to create an article, please read our policies on verifiability and NPOV first and decide if the article subject is notable. --Lemongirl942 (talk) 07:00, 23 May 2016 (UTC)

Help with logging in to existing account - wont let me advised to use different URL - what does that mean
Trying to get back into an article for a client, Log In using https://en.wikipedia.org? which has been rejected in order to edit and change where necessary - and have tried to log in using the account name and passcode they have given me but its not letting me - says incorrect password but its not. The job needs to be done and client uncontactable at present - apparently I can get in possibly using a different URL. What does that mean? Can anybody help please. Currently usinghttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page213.123.197.88 (talk) 10:27, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- What is your account name? And, please, read Wikipedia:Conflict_of_interest. Ruslik_Zero 10:34, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- Let me see if I understand this. You have been hired by someone to edit an article. They had a username and password and gave you the information to log in and work on the article. The system is not letting you log in. can you tell us what article you have been hired to edit and the username that the client has given you to use? -- GB fan 10:37, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
- However, if GB fan's summary is correct, then you and your client are in danger of breaking several of Wikipedia's rules. Paid editing is discouraged, and if you do it, you must declare the fact as specified in that link. Accounts may not be shared: you need to create a personal one, separate from your client's account. If we have an article about your client, it does not belong to your client, and neither they nor you have any control over its content. Either of you are welcome to make suggestions for improving the article, on the article's talk page (preferably with citations to reliably published sources), but you are strongly discouraged from editing the article directly. --ColinFine (talk) 14:23, 23 May 2016 (UTC)
