Blaand is a fermented milk product made from whey. It is similar in alcohol content to wine.

History

It was a traditional Scottish drink for centuries, but it was not commercialized; production ended in the mid-20th century.

It is sometimes claimed that Blaand was introduced to Scotland by Vikings. However, there is no record of Vikings making alcoholic drinks from whey.[citation needed]
