Traction

Prior to DC to AC Conversion of Western Line Suburban Railway in Mumbai; it departed from Mumbai Central with a WCAM 2/2P electric locomotive of Valsad shed in order to use Mumbai's DC traction wires and switch power on-the-fly in a dead zone just after crossing Virar (afterwards Vile Parle ). There was a locomotive change at Vadodara where it used to swap the WCAM 2/2P with WAP 4E electric locomotive of Vadodara shed.

The Western railway completed DC Electric Conversion to AC on 5 February 2012. The work was done on Vile Parle - Churchgate section. After the complete AC Electrification of Western Line suburban system of Mumbai; it is hauled by WAP-4E or by WAP-5 or WAP-7 between Mumbai Central and Sawai Madhopur Junction.

At Sawai Madhopur Junction, there is loco/rake reversal and the electric locomotive is swap for WDP 4/4B/4D diesel locomotive of Bhagat Ki Kothi shed for the remaining journey up to Jaipur

In Up direction; the train is hauled by WDP 4/4B/4D diesel locomotive of Bhagat Ki Kothi shed between Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur Junction. At Sawai Madhopur Junction, there is loco/rake reversal and the diesel locomotive is swap for electric locomotive WAP-4E or by WAP-5 or WAP-7 of Vadodara shed for the rest of the journey up to Mumbai Central.
